I've always loved books, especially about monsters and magic, so I started writing. I'm working on a prequel and the next few books in the Others of Edenton series, and I have a head full of stories to share.

I'm a stay at home mother with a wonderful husband who lets me write and write to my hearts content.

When I opened “Falling Star” by Brandy L. Rivers and read the first pages I never expected this much action.

So it was a really surprising read with quite a bit of suspense in it.

One thing I would like to remark though is that for me the cover picture in way represents the story of the book - unless it was intended to show Raven Star in her old life – in no way this cover could represent Ella and Trent.

The Blurb sounded like an interesting romance but it turned out to be even a little better than I thought.

There were some holes inside the story and at a few occasions the dialogue felt forced to me, but in total that did not take away too much from the book.

I enjoyed the writing style and I felt entertained throughout the whole story.

The author gave attention to details and put a lot of thought into the characters biography – which in total only added to the entertainment.

'He wanted to unravel her mystery.'

I am a huge fan of Brandy's paranormal books and am starting fall for her contemporary as well. Falling star is fun, sweet, sexy and suspenseful and I enjoyed every minute of reading this story. While I am not usually a fan of books written in third person, Brandy's stories grip you so much that I barely noticed.

'God, he's temptation incarnate.'

Ella is new in town and on the run. Super skittish and worried that everyone in the small town will find out her secret identity as movie star Raven Star, she tries hard to keep to herself an avoid getting too close to anyone other than her longtime friend Mila. But once she catches the eye of the playboy firefighter across the street there is no way to escape what he does to her and what she does to him.

"Need you safe, Ella. Want you in my arms. I don't want to let go. Please give me a chance to prove you're the one I've been waiting for."

I fully expected Trent to be a fun go with the flow play boy but what I got was a super protective alpha male who would lay down his life for those he loves. I loved him from the moment I met him and his gentleness and patience for Ella sealed the deal. If you love hot firefighters with alpha tendencies don't miss this sexy contemporary.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I really enjoyed this book. As a reader, I could feel the emotions rolling off Ella as she fought for her own survival. The way in which she tries to rebuild her life is one that I think that everyone can relate to.

Trent is a good guy, a bit of a love'em and leave'em kind of guy, but there is soemthing about Ella that pulls to him, that makes him want to change his ways. Understanding that there is something unique and fragile about her, Trent makes a point to be just be her friend and let what happens, if anything, be on her terms.

Love is unique and so is this book.

I was given a free copy for an honest review.
I liked this book. I am a big fan of Contemporary Romance Novels and Mrs. Rivers really delivers. I love the spark and chemistry between Trent and Ella. Ella has the guts to walk away from Hollywood and start an inconspicuous life in a small town. Trent is the sexy nosy neighbor getting into her business. Great Book!!
2nd book in the series, I recommend reading book 1 to follow the town and the other characters.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Combustible contemporary romance series. I loved it!

Ella Cross is a wonderful character. I really liked her. She is a well known actress and goes by the stage name Raven Star. Even before being kidnapped and escaping her captor, she had become tired of the media circus. She grabs the opportunity to get out from under the spotlight and moves to a small town where her best friend from childhood (Mila from the previous book), lives. She was not expecting romance, but when she meets Trent Ward, her new neighbour, the chemistry between them is undeniable.

Trent Ward is also a wonderful character. I liked him a lot. He is a loving, caring man. It doesn't hurt that he's a fireman either. When he meets Ella he's intrigued with his mysterious new neighbour and is attracted to her. However, he also has his own family problems. But, when danger threatens Ella, his protective instincts are triggered. But can he protect his heart?

Having previously read paranormal romances written by this author, I was eager to read this contemporary romance series. I started to read this book and quickly became hooked. The story is told through the eyes of both Ella and Trent, which allowed me to see what they were both thinking and feeling. I found myself on a roller coaster of emotion from beginning to end. I am a sucker for contemporary romances with sexy firemen, so meeting Trent's friends and colleagues was a thrill too. Trent's nephew, Blaze, is also a wonderful character and has had to grow up too quickly due to his mother's drug addiction. This made me sad.

This story felt a little predictable as it followed the traditional romantic theme, but there's a lot of heat between the main protagonists which made up for it. The characters themselves felt lifelike and likable. I love flawed characters, as they come alive on the page. This story has several flawed characters, which kept things interesting. I love the way the story unfolded, and some topics (such as Trent's sister's drug addiction) was handled sympathetically. The danger that Ella faces from her kidnapper/stalker lends a bit of suspense to the tale, but I didn't feel that the threat was as immediate as it should have been. Other readers may have a different opinion. However, having said that, I certainly wouldn't have guessed at who the culprit was, as there were several twists and red herrings.

I reached the end of the book (which doesn't end in a cliffhanger) and was left with a happy, satisfied feeling. I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Sweet Tooth, as soon as possible.

Brandy L. Rivers has written an entertaining contemporary romance series. I love her fast paced writing style, and the flow is wonderful. Her characters are lifelike and likable. With her ability to write in both the paranormal and contemporary romance genres, she is one of my go to authors when I'm in the mood for a sexy read.

Due to explicit scenes of a sexual nature, as well as use of bad language, I do not recommend this book to readers under the age of 18. However, I do recommend this book if you love hot erotic contemporary romances full of sexy firemen and determined women. - Lynn Worton

* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *

This is a new to me author and I am so glad that I found her!! Her books are fun, flirty, steamy, and fulfilling! The reader sits on the edge of their seat with anticipation as they wonder what may happen next to the characters! This is book 2 in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. Characters from book 1 are in this book, but the author does an amazing job of catching the reader up without going through the entire plot of book 1.

Author Brandy Rivers weaves a plot that is thick with suspense, drama, action and romance. She captures the readers attention from the very start and never lets it go. She is a master at weaving together a believable and realistic situation for the readers and the plot is pretty unique. I literally had to force myself to put the book down so that I could go to bed (at 1am) because there is no stopping point - there is nothing drawn out or boring about the book.

Ella moves to a small town to re-connect with herself and her long time friend (Milla, from book 1). She has a ton of secrets, fears, and drama but she is hoping to leave that behind....enter Trent, her across the street neighbor, who is looking for the perfect woman, life to stay simple and someone who isn't trying to change him. The 2 meet and have sparks but will they be able to work it all out?!?

Don't try to predict what is going to happen, because you can't and you won't be satisfied with anything that you come up with - the author leaves the reader feeling complete, happy and ready for the next book in the series...like right away, with no delay....don't miss out on this amazing author or her characters and add this to your TBR list NOW!! Enjoy!!

I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest review.

This is the second book in the combustible series and is a standalone you do not have to read Heart on Fire. However, this series is so good you will want to. Brandy L. Rivers has a way of writing strong women who have been through a lot and is trying to overcome it without being weak and dependent on a man.

Ella is tired of being in the spot light 24/7 she needs to get away she takes off to take up residents in a small town near her friend Mila. Ella has secrets that she wants no one to find out. She has panic attacks and tried to handle things on her own but after meeting her neighbor Trent he was determined NOT to let her do it on her own.

Trent is the fireman next door and is drawn to Ella. She is familiar to him but has no idea why but his 9 year old nephew has it figured out. Trent is determined to help Ella get over her nightmares. However, he has his own issues he is working through. Will Trent be able to hlp Ella get over her past even when old ghosts begin to appear.

I enjoy Brandy L. Rivers writing style but this one was one of the best. There is drama but not over the top, suspense that has you turning the pages, and love of a family and friends. I am loving this series just as much as her paranormal series.

A few of my favorites:

“Ella, I’ve been invested since you ran into me at the store. You’re different than any other woman I’ve ever met. We have a connection. No one has ever made me feel this way.”

“She seemed surprised you were with a girlfriend.” “I dated. I don’t think I called any of them my girlfriend. None of them were you. I’ve had sparks, but never fire.”

To me, Brandy L Rivers is the queen of Paranormal Romance, but make no mistake – she is just as amazing in Contemporary Romance! The Combustible Series has been, hands-down, phenomenal! I've fallen in love with all the characters and their different story lines. Each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, but do know that you will see Mila and Kyle from book one in this second installment.

Falling Star is Trent and Ella's addicting and page-turning story. Right off the bat I did not want to stop reading. Ms. Rivers has a knack for hooking readers! This book is packed with everything you might enjoy in a novel: romance, suspense, action, heart-felt scenes, humor, sarcasm, a great plot, and well-developed characters! While reading, there were scenes that made me fall head-over-heels for Trent, made my heart break for Ella and everything she had been through, and made me swoon for the deep-felt love that Trent and Ella shared.

Trent, while his playboy reputation proceeded him, was uh-ma-zing. He was sweet, kind, patient, and oh so incredibly scrumptious. Sigh. Seeing him with Blaze made my heart's heart swoon!! Nothing sexier than seeing a man be wonderful with kids! Panties = boom.

Ella was a strong heroine!! She did not give up, no matter what life threw her way, and I really did enjoy that aspect about her. She was down-to-earth and incredibly kind to everyone she met, despite her constant (and completely understandable) fear.

As always, Brandy L Rivers has delivers a must read novel I highly recommend you check out. If you're anything like me, you will have a very hard time putting down the book once you start reading. FIVE STARS!!

OMG I absolutely LOVED this story, and I'm wondering where Brandy L. Rivers has been all my life! Ella Cross is over being a famous movie star, Raven Star, living her life in the spotlight. She is planning to bury her on- screen persona when she is kidnapped by an obsessed stalker, and spent 2 days in pure hell. It changed her forever, and the fallout of the media storm had her on the run. She ends up in a small town where her oldest friend lives, and knows her secrets but no one else does. Trent Ward can't get his new neighbor out of his head. He knows something has happened to her, and she's running from something, so he wants to unravel the mystery. He also feels an instant need to protect her, and the more time they spend together, the more Ella wants to tell him her secrets. As her past and future collide, will Trent save her before it's too late?

WOW WOW WOW! I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. The character development is fantastic, with a amazing cast of secondaries adding to the story. A fast paced, intense, and very well written storyline flows effortlessly. Simmering chemistry ignites into FIERY FLAMES of sexy scene goodness that leaves ashes in place of panties. Brandy L. Rivers does a brilliant job writing twists and turns that make for serious WTH moments straight out of left field. Her talented and exciting writing style had my heart threatening to pound out of my chest cover to cover. I simply cannot wait to read more by this author, so I have to HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Falling Star to everyone!

description

Starting over….
What do you do when your life is, well, hell? For Ella Cross that means walking away and returning to her roots. Reconnecting with a childhood friend in their hometown, Ella is scared but determined to start over. She needed to be safe again. To be real again. Trent Ward is dealing with issues in his own life but he can’t escape his fascination with his beautiful, new neighbour. Trust is hard won but sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith…
I enjoyed this emotional and drama-filled story of a frightened but determined woman and the man who was equally set on helping her. I’m not a big fan of secrets to drive a plot but it works here as the uncertainty and fear drive Ella to the difficult decisions she makes. A rock and a hard place is not an unfair comparison as she realizes she hasn’t escaped anything, or anyone, in her flight to safety. Trent, and his adorable nephew Blaze, provide some much needed normalcy. There is chemistry between them and Trent’s slow but sure courtship is both sweet and sexy.
I wish I’d connected with the characters more than I did. There was so much to like and admire about both of them but I found that overshadowed by the drama that at times was overdone. There were no easy solutions and they kept bouncing back from one blow after another which kept me with them right to the end. There are many more handsome and intriguing firemen at the station, I’m looking forward to finding out more.

Falling for him would be so easy, but what happens when he learns her secret...

Standalone romance with plenty of passion and suspense. The first book in this series will introduce you to Mila and Kyle, though knowing their back story is not required to follow this story. This story centers around another fire fighter on Kyle's shift, Trent. He also happens to live across the street from Mila's old house. When Ella, a.k.a. Raven Star, moves into her childhood best friends house the sparks fly, but so does Ella's paranoia. And now a bit about the story...

Raven has had it with Hollywood and her stalker. She is on her way out of town when she is ambushed by her stalker. He held her for two days. After escaping and recovering physically, she is harassed by the press to the point she quits forever. She arrives in Lakeridge as Ella Cross to start over. When she literally runs into Trent he can see she is terrified, but he has no idea why. As they get closer, he learns more and they both become a little paranoid, but for different reasons. If these two can just communicate the sparks may build into an inferno. But with the secrets and assumptions a lazy breeze could blow them over.

Favorite passage: “Let me be your rock… your foundation… your safe haven.”

Raven is a big movie star but when she gets kidnapped by her stalker she decides she's had enough of the spotlight. The media turns everything around that has happened to her making it out like she's at fault for her stalkers doings.

She decides to move to a small town where her best friend Mila lives and go by her given name, Ella. She changes her hair color and puts on glasses in hopes that no one will recognize her.

Trent, a firefighter, is known as a player but when he meets Ella there's an attraction to her that he can't understand.

They start out as friends because Ella doesn't want anyone to know who she really is and her stalker is still out there and she hopes he doesn't find her.

Can Ella open her heart to Trent? Can Trent settle down? Will Ella's stalker find her?

This book has everything hot sex scenes, suspense, family drama and love. I feel in love with the characters and can't wait to read the other books in this series. This book can be read as a standalone but after reading Ella and Trent's story I want to read the other characters stories. Reviewed on behalf of Once Upon An Alpha.

I received an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion. And in my opinion if you like contemporary romance, don't miss this one.
After a terrifying run in with a stalker, Ella Cross walked away from Hollywood for a normal life. Settling in a little town near her best friend, she has a plan to run a small boutique and be as inconspicuous as possible.
Trent Ward is instantly drawn to his new neighbor. He can tell she's hiding something but he's willing to wait for her to reveal her secrets. Once everything is out in the open they will have to fight hard to protect they both so desperately need...each other.
Once again Ms. Rivers has delivered a wonderful contemporary romance with all the bells and whistles. This one has great relationships, some family drama, a little suspense and plenty of steamy scenes. A bit of everything for everyone. And in true Rivers fashion we get to catch-up old friends from her previous book in the Combustible series, Heart on Fire.

Raven Star is a very famous actress, but she has decided to give it up. She can no longer take the constant presence of the press. She also has a stalker who is terrifying her. So she will become someone else and start a new life. That gets off to a very bad start.
Trent Ward is a small town fireman. He is helping to care for his young nephew while his sister is in rehab again. He finds it hard to understand why his sister can't get her act together for her son. His family history has affected him more than he realises.
This is a sexy, exciting thriller. Very emotional and scary. Our hero is a very good man, but sometime speaks before he thinks. Our poor heroine has so much to be scared of, and just wants a normal life. Luckily she does have some very good friends.
Once I started this I could not put it down. All wonderful characters that make it so easy to get involved in their lives.

This is the first book I've read by Brandy L. Rivers and I loved it. The stalker plot had me biting my nails, but Trent and Ella's love story had me swooning. I felt like all of the storylines were developed and wrapped up by the end of the book. There wasn't any extra "fluff" or unnecessary characters to distract the reader. I'm hoping Tina and Gavin will have a story!

--"You feel it too. I know you do."
--"Feel what?" Lust, definitely. Intrigue, sure. She wanted to believe that he meant more than that because she'd been burned before.
--His normally pale eyes grew stormy. "A connection. Your heart matches mine. I need more than a few weeks or a month. I've never wanted to dive in so deep and find out how far we could go."

--"Oh, Ella, I like a whole lot more than your body."
--She sat back, smiling. "Good, because you're stealing my heart."
--"Don’t want to steal it, just hold it and keep it safe," he murmured.

Ella is leaving her former life when she is in an accident and wakes up tied to a bed. Ella manages to escape her captor but not her nightmares so she disguises herself and moves to where her best friend Mila lives. Mila and her husband Kyle live across from a friend of Kyle's and his work buddy Trent. When Trent meets Ella he is done for and even though his friends consider him a man whore he wants to change his ways for Ella. Trent has his own issues to handle because his dad was an alcoholic and his sister Tina a drug user. The attraction that Ella and Trent feel is electric but at every turn something happens to try an shatter their relationship. I loved how dedicated Trent was to keeping the relationship together even when he screwed up and Ella trying so hard to be brave when her captor was still at large. I loved the small town story and the characters in it.

Falling Star is the second installment in the Combustible series by Brand L Rivers. This is an adult contemporary romance novel with a HEA. Ella Cross, also known as Raven Star was ready to leave the lights and glamour of Hollywood in exchange for a normal life. Unfortunately certain events changed her forever. Trent Ward is the friendly neighbor who feels the need to protect Ella, even though he does not know what she is running from. Read their story and watch the sparks fly between Ella and Trent.

Overall, I found this story to be an enjoyable read. Ella’s character was likable and Trent was enduring. The supporting characters contributed to the story in a manner that it made me want to know more about them. I sincerely hope that Brandy continues with this series and the other characters get their stories.

Book number 2 in the Combustible series.
This is a book about a sweet woman with a past she wants to forget but has a hard time doing, because the past won’t let go of her. It’s also about a guy who likes her but has a past that colors his judgment sometimes – but he is lucky has friends who is there for him and they are there to kick him in the ass when needed. The woman also has friend and family that loves her and they also kick her in the ass when she is about to run.
Will these to people find each other or rip each other apart?
This book could be read as a stand-alone, but is so much better if you read the first book in the series, just to understand the people of Lakeridge :)

I've read all of Brandy L Rivers' 'Others' series so was happy to read one of her contemporary novels.

I wasn't disappointed. The characters are always strong and charismatic in Ms Rivers' books and I really enjoyed Ella and Trent in this one. The story of Ella turning her back on Hollywood and falling in love with a small-town fireman was well told with suspense and intrigue thrown in.

The whole cast was great and I'd love to know more about some of the supporting characters.

I hope to read more of Ms Rivers' contemporary novels.

This book was a very good read. It has all the important factors needed to keep me turning the pages and trying to guess just what is going on...while at the same time following the romance between Ella and Trent. Ella is an actress who returns to her hometown to get away from the limelight and a stalker. She happens to meet a seriously hot fireman who lives across the street from her new home and starts to date him. Lots of mystery and romance in this book. I am looking forward to more from Brandy L. Rivers! I received a copy of this book on Instafreebie for an honest review.

I am used to reading PNR from Brandy L Rivers, although I have read one other contemporary romance that she co-wrote. I love her PNR, especially her Others of Edenton series. That being said, this may be one of my favorite books by her. It included all the elements I love in a book. Intrigue, suspense, an epic love story, and most importantly, an HEA!!! The characters are well-written, the story line interesting. It is a book that I would gladly recommend to friends!!!

Trent could be so damn sweet, “oh, Ella, I like a whole lot more than your body.” Trent has got some energy and willpower in the mornings, "he pulled her leg over his thighs and rocked his length against her. “Better go now or I may not let you leave the bed.” I liked this book, I loved the small town books you get more of a feel for the characters and I really loved Trent.

The story was decent. I liked the characters, and the storyline kept me engaged. It wasn't edited as tightly as the Others series, as there were a couple of minor plot holes etc, but it wasn't enough to detract from the story too much.
