Wow!! What a book !!
Ready For Flynn should come with the caution tag "Are you ......REALLY Ready For Flynn?"
This is one of those books your never quite prepared for, yet this story WILL affect you.
This is now the ninth novel I've read from this author and I can honestly say I've never been disappointed with any of her work, KL Shandwick is most definitely one of my automatic one-click authors. Not only does she provide a world to lose yourself in but also a story that makes you think and most importantly feel!
Ready For Flynn is the story of a young girl named Valerie and having spent majority of her life being sheltered or protected from the world by her family, she craves freedom of life. In walks Flynn Docherty who turns Valerie's protected life into a tail spin. The attraction between them is more than physical or emotional it's almost unexplainable with words yet KL delivers a story in a way that the reader can almost feel for themselves the electricity between Valerie and Flynn.
However Flynn realises many obstacles lie ahead for them in particular Valerie's age, she's not ready for him.
The story takes a heartbreaking twist that will require many tissues, I've cried when reading books before but this was a different type of crying, the worst type. I literally mopped up teardrops with the sleeve of my sweater as they steadily ran down my face and dripped off the end of my chin at a painfully slow pace, I couldn't even hear my own breathing it was so silent! From this point on I knew the story was going to hold a big place in my list of WOW reads.
Whether it's fate or circumstances bring them back into each other's lives years later where Valerie now has the opportunity to test whether she's truly ready to take Flynn on!
An absolutely amazing first part of This story and I'm eagerly awaiting the next emotionally challenging ride.

When i was listening to the audiobook, about 70% i was about to rate this book 3 stars or lower. Because i do not like Valerie. Yes i know she is 15 years old and very immature, but her immature really hits me in the wrong spot. About 70% of this book, i want to slap her.
Then slowly the story gets better. The chemistry between Flynn and Valerie improving very much with the help of Flynn character. He is very interesting character. He is a quite storm that loyal to his best friend. Anyway, only at the end of the book, i can really appreciate the story.
The dark world of entertainment industry. The manipulative, profit oriented and the dark lifestyle. I wish the author can bring more of this aspect into the story. Good thing the cliffhanger is mild.
Overal this is a very enjoyable story.

Omg what can I say about this book... It's awesome!!!! This is such a heart wrenching story keep the tissues handy. I felt so many emotions whilst reading Flynn and Valerie's story. They go through so many hardships to be together. You see the love that Flynn displays for Valerie. At times I wanted to reach in the book and just shake Flynn and Valerie and tell them "wake up already be together". But KL you have done it again awesome awesome book. Without all the tears you will shed reading this book it wouldn't have been the same. Impatiently waiting on part 2.

Quando la madre di Valerie le aveva suggerito di andare in Michigan per aiutare la zia Joan dopo la morte del marito, aver accettato subito era sembrato altruista da parte sua. Ma aveva avuto un altro motivo per fare i bagagli: stava scappando.
Tutto accade per una ragione, si ripeteva.
Vivere con la zia per qualche tempo le avrebbe dato la scusa giusta per non affrontare nessuno, dopo lo scandaloso comportamento di Brad.
Ora però stava per tornare a casa e di conseguenza avrebbe dovuto affrontare tutti a scuola.
All’inizio era stato difficile tenere la testa alta dopo quello che il suo ex ragazzo le aveva fatto, ma adesso a distanza di due mesi era pronta ad affrontare i commenti dei compagni.
Val sembrava più grande della sua età e non aveva interesse a uscire con i suoi coetanei.
Non era timida, ma quando era con suo fratello Martin si sentiva rilassata e riusciva ad essere se stessa. Martin la portava spesso con lui, e diceva ai suoi amici che, sebbene fosse la sua sorellina, erano anche buoni amici, e solo perché era più giovane di loro, quello non la rendeva meno interessante.
Valerie aveva vissuto fino a sedici anni una vita protetta rispetto a molte sue coetanee, sempre circondata dai tre fratelli che la amavano moltissimo, ma le mancava la fiducia quando usciva in pubblico senza di loro, perché la maggior parte della vita sociale la svolgeva a casa. I fratelli erano molto protettivi nei suoi confronti e cercavano in ogni modo possibile di preservarla.
Una famiglia unita e meravigliosa la loro, nella quale si dava e riceveva tantissimo amore. Un aspetto questo su cui l’autrice ha meravigliosamente posto l’attenzione, descrivendo dinamiche familiari di vita comuni a tante altre, ma speciali e ricche di emozioni vere e reali.
Martin un giorno portò a casa dei genitori il coinquilino col quale condivideva l’appartamento. E lo presentò alla sorella:
«È un bravo ragazzo, ma ha avuto una vita complicata. So che non devo dirti di essere gentile con lui, ma sarebbe più facile per me se tutti lo facessero sentire il benvenuto. Vorrei che per la prima volta nella sua vita trascorresse una fantastica vacanza in famiglia».
Val nel vederlo era rimasta senza parole:
«Quando lo guardai, vidi una bocca perfetta, su un viso perfetto, sul ragazzo dall’aspetto più perfetto che avessi mai visto. Perfetto era l’unica parola per descriverlo. Nessuno mi aveva preparato per la figaggine immensa di quell’uomo».
Era bastato un sorriso e uno scambio di sguardi perché una corrente di elettricità creasse il caos nel suo giovane corpo. Il battito cardiaco aumentò e quasi svenne per l’inebriante sensazione di immediata attrazione nei suoi confronti.
In un nanosecondo si era presa una cotta assurda per Flynn, e neanche gli aveva ancora parlato.
🖋️Si tratta di romanzo davvero molto intenso, non nascondo che la prima parte mi ha straziato il cuore e fatta commuovere. È stato difficile andare avanti e proseguire nella lettura, ma sapevo che andando oltre avrei scoperto la bellezza di questo libro, che parla di amore, di amicizia e complicità tra fratelli, che ha in sé quella componente viscerale capace di superare ogni tipo di confine.
La famiglia, con tutte le sue sfaccettature, è il punto fermo della storia, come a certificare che l’amore tra i suoi preziosi componenti è e resta una certezza sacra e indissolubile.
🖋️La musica ha guarito l’anima spezzata di Flynn, ma l’amore ha ridato vita e ricomposto il cuore distrutto e addolorato di Valerie.
Sul finale troviamo anche mistero e suspence nella giusta dose, che hanno reso la lettura ancora più incalzante.

I was given an arc of this book to read by k l , I have read all of this ladies books and this 1doesn't disappoint , I fell in love with Flynn form the start , his love for Valerie from first seeing her and the way he was always there for her though her sad times only makes you !ove him more ,
This book is well worth reading and I would give it 5* and much more if I could , thanks K L for letting me be 1of a small group to read this first

Ok here we go, Are you 'Ready For Flynn'? I hope you are and I hope I can prepare you even a little bit for what you are about to experience, the gut wrenching turmoil Valerie goes through, the heart strings that are pulled for a young girl who is in love. The laugh out loud moments you will have when reading Flynn's comebacks and Valerie's quick wit.
Valerie and Flynn are pulled together with feelings for each other, but with age difference and Flynn's friendship towards Martin he is torn with his feelings for both Valerie and Martin. His feelings towards Valerie are stronger than he can deal with, or feelings that he is used to at all.
Life takes Flynn away in a different direction and away from them as a family..
Valerie is a girl who is well protected from the world by her brothers and family, but is also wise to the world. She is the only sister among her siblings and with her favorite brother Martin a constant always there by her side, her best friend, she thinks she can take on the world. That is until her world is turned upside down, (warning *) this is when you need the tissues!
Flynn turns up for a shoulder Valerie needs to lean on, but does Valerie want Flynn in her life? Can she really trust him back in her life?
What can one girl from a small town take? Valerie shows strength that Flynn has never seen before, and he wants her even more, but is it possible? Can she fit into his new life style? Is this the life Valerie wants? With an established career herself is the force and feelings between the two of them, she can not simply ignore it. Can she?
I am so relieved this is part 1 and we have more to come, because I just don't want this story to end. Well done KL you have excelled yourself again, you do know you have a lot to live up to in part 2 don't you ;-)

5+ Very Ready Stars
Owww I loved this story. I was sucked in from page one. The characters grab your attention and keep you interested throughout.
Flynn is a lad, he is sexy and very attractive and Valerie's beloved big brother Martin's mate from university. Valerie is 15 the first time they meet and just getting over a break up with her first proper boy friend. She falls for Flynn's looks and charm, especially when he makes things right for her with her peers. But Flynn is a lot older and although he is very attracted to Valerie, her brother warns him off. Flynn leaves telling her that when she is ready for him, he will be there.
As time moves on they keep encountering each other and Flynn is always there when Valerie needs him, whether she asks or not, he turns up to support her when she needs him.
There were times I definitely wanted to get into the book and give the part of them a good slap and shake. It is obvious that they both feel something special for each other, the attraction is unmistakable.
The story weaves around both their lives incredibly well, taking you with them through the highs and lows . I loved it and definitely didn't want it to end there.....luckily this is just part one....guess I will just have to patient!!!!! I can't wait to read part 2 and will as soon as it's out.
A definite must read.

Firstly I love KL's books so when a new one is coming out I'm on it straight away! She always gives us HOT Rock Stars and Flynn certainly didn't disappoint!
This is about a girl Valerie who has a loving family and is quite the 'innocent' type girl until she meets Flynn, a friend of her brother Martin.
Valerie and her family then have to face an event in their life that completely changes her and her family as she knows it! Flynn comes back into her life and both their lives as they know it change. Flynn has had a hard childhood, has been in the Foster system and has liked Valerie from the start but because of her age did nothing about it.
I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil the story but I will say I thoroughly enjoyed this book..I loved seeing the change in Valerie as she grew and became more grown up and confident in herself. .putting Flynn in his place with her 'sassiness' lol I also loved seeing Flynn grow, how he changed with his music and how he changed with Valerie in his life especially because at the beginning I wasn't entirely sure I liked him at all! lol
There are some emotional parts to this, a couple of twists that you don't expect and lots of HOT scenes! The story had me gripped and I loved it! Flynn is definitely another one to add to the BBF list!! I cannot wait for part 2!!

OMG wish there was a 10 star rating for this book cause would've given it a 10 star for sure!!!!! I just couldn't put it down!!!!! It's sooooo good!!! It's heartbreaking and loving and full of emotions. You will fall in love with all of the characters in this book cause it's written so well that you can feel a connection with each and every one of them.
Aaawww I absolutely LOVE Flynn he is just amazing and a man with a heart of gold. I loved Valerie even though she was only 15 when this book started she was a strong girl who could stand up for herself and who would do anything for those who she loved. Get loads and loads of tissues cause it's one hell of a ride you are gonna take with them!!! Damn this was definitely one of my FAVOURITE books by KL Shandwick!!!!

I was so excited for the release of this book. I have read all of KL Shandwick's books and they are amazing. I love her stories and her character's.
Ready for Flynn is a beautiful story that captures your heart and soul. This book takes you on a heartfelt journey of friendship and young love. You can't help fall in love with all of the characters in this book especially Valerie and Flynn. I admire Valerie she is a strong independent girl and goes after what she wants. Flynn is amazing guy with a big heart. I love this story, but keep those tissues handy. It is a bumpy ride. I am anxiously awaiting part 2 of this story.

I loved this book!!! I couldn't put it down. You will need some tissue for this one. At one point I really wanted to throw my kindle. It will take you on that emotional ride. Loved it KL!!

Valerie and Flynn are pulled together with feelings for each other, but with age difference and Flynn's friendship towards Martin he is torn with his feelings for both Valerie and Martin. His feelings towards Valerie are stronger than he can deal with, or feelings that he is used to at all.

If I could rate higher that 5 I would!
Ok I highly doubt that I have the talent to write a review that will do this book justice. This book devastated me, infuriated me, and put all the pieces that broke back together only to know that the ride is not over. I absolutely loved this book and am so thrilled that I chose to read it! This is the first book by K.L. Shandwick that I've had the honor of reading and I will definitely be looking out for more. I NEED more! Seriously my heart was breaking before I even hit 50% but oh man was it worth it. K.L. did an outstanding job writing a book that will have you invested in the characters, even the secondary ones. Be prepared with tissues for sure. There are few books that make me cry but this is one of those rare few. There were also those times that if I could've I would've jumped into my iPad and smacked Flynn and Valerie. There were times that I wanted to hate Flynn for the actions he does because let's face it he's a man and thinks he knows what is best, but is he right or is she? Flynn and Valerie go on a crazy as roller coaster when it comes to their relationship. Its a bumpy ride, full of twists, turns and loopy loops and the ride isn't over folks. Author K.L. Shandwick has done it again !!
I had the privilege and honor of reading an ARC of this book. This amazing author has written another 5' novel that will grab you and won't let go.
I have read all of K.L. Shandwick's books and have loved everyone of them but I have to say that this book was a little different from KL's usual writing, it's a little bit edgier and just a bit darker but it is still the same awesome writing I always get when I read one KL's books. Once I start reading I can't stop.
This is a love story about an eternal love, a love that joins two hearts (Flynn & Valerie) and creates one. This books has all the elements you want in great love story. It has heartache, romance, betrayal and some sultry steamy sex. Flynn and Valerie's story will take your emotions on a roller coaster ride of ups & downs but you will be so glad you took the ride. This is one story you don't want to miss. It is a definite MUST read !!

I do not usually read rock star books but having loved Gibson"s Legacy and Trusting Gibson I thought it would be similar.
I was glad I got it
This book was engrossing
The plot moved along beautifully. it had everything. Tears flowed, heartbeats hammered and laughs came easily. The reader was treated to hot sexy scenes that eent from tender to steamy and beyond. I will be anxiously awaiting part 2 and hope it is just as beautiful ad part 1 to grefu cravings for this most wonderful tale

Sono sincera non amo molto questo genere, ma Pronta per Flynn mi ha fatto ricredere.
L’autrice ha saputo entrare dentro i sentimenti dei protagonisti, coglierne le sfumature e creare una grande empatia tra il lettore e Valerie, la voce narrante.
La serie è di tre libri e questo, il primo, ci presenta Valerie quindicenne di ritorno a casa dopo un soggiorno da una zia rimasta vedova dove la aspettano tre fratelli iperprotettivi.
Valerie è una ragazza assennata, studiosa, molto legata alla sua famiglia. Ha avuto una delusione d’amore che l’ha toccata profondamente.
È il giorno del Ringraziamento e suo fratello Martin, il suo preferito, quello con il legame più intenso, torna dal college in compagnia del suo compagno di stanza, Flynn.
Flynn ha un fascino innato, occhi e sorriso “strappa mutande”, un’occhiata e fa strage tra i cuori femminili.
Quale migliore occasione per Valerie di vendicarsi del suo ex che farsi vedere con Flynn? Un ragazzo di cinque anni più grande con quel fascino…
Peccato che il “fidanzato per finta” abbia fatto colpo davvero. Valerie si sente attratta da lui come non le è mai capitato prima e non sa come reagire alla situazione, visto che i fratelli la mettono in guardia dai tipi come Flynn e, inoltre, vedendolo in azione tutto l’amore si trasforma in rabbia.

Lui non lo negherà, ma la lascerà per proteggerla, ferendola ma rispettandola.
Le vacanze passano, il ricordo sopisce, ma non sfuma, anche perché Flynn, grande talento musicale, si ritrova catapultato nel mondo della musica e sta diventando una vera rock star.
La vita va avanti, e un nuovo amore nasce. Valerie trova la sua anima gemella, il ragazzo con cui si vede felice.
Tutto sembra andare bene, il futuro pare splendere.
E qui la tragedia. Per sapere cosa accade dovete leggere il libro, ma posso dire che la vita di Valerie sarà travolta da un evento che la cambierà per sempre.
Si ritroverà sola ad affrontare l’impossibile fino a quando chi la ama veramente, chi per lei ci sarà sempre, arriva al suo fianco, pronto a subire la sua rabbia, ad assorbire il suo dolore.
Flynn dimostra quello che è, un uomo innamorato che sa però di non poter consumare quell’amore: l’età, la fragilità del momento, tutto rema contro.
Gli anni passano ancora e …
Cosa dire di questa storia, è solo all’inizio, eppure la trovo travolgente.
Per quanto questo sia un libro pieno di dolore, la capacità dell’autrice di farlo condividere profondamente anche al lettore è stata una nota vincente. È riuscita a mettere Valerie completamente a nudo, ad aprire il suo cuore. Abbiamo condiviso ogni sua emozione, ogni suo sorriso, ogni sua lacrima.
Flynn vive attraverso i suoi occhi, coperto di mistero perché per lei lui è un mistero, non sa e non capisce i suoi atteggiamenti, le sue reazioni. Valerie ne vede per quasi tutto il libro solo il lato negativo. Su di lui scarica rabbia e rancore senza smettere però di averlo nel cuore. Le pagine di questo libro sono piene di sentimenti contrastanti, gestiti però benissimo. Il modo in cui Valerie parla di se stessa e di chi la circonda è diretto e veloce, niente pause o momenti morti. Tutta la storia ci travolge senza un attimo di respiro. Si arriva ad una certo punto della lettura che fare una pausa è quasi d’obbligo.
Ho davvero apprezzato Pronta per Flynn e visto il finale chiaramente aperto aspetto i seguiti perché la storia non è finita qui…

Holy bejeezus, this book was fantastic! I was overwhelmed with how great this story was. I was left baffled beyond belief, a stuttering mess in the middle of this book.
Poor Valerie has had some tough times throughout this book and my heart goes out to her for enduring so much pain in her life.
Valerie is the only girl in the family surrounded by three brothers who are over-protective of her. They love her to death and the last thing they want is for Valerie to get hurt again by a douche bag.
Marty is the closest to Valerie, he's like a hawk when it comes to Valerie so when he brings his roommate/friend home to visit, Flynn and Valerie encounter some pretty strong sparks between them. But the last thing Marty wants is for his little sister to get together with Flynn because Flynn has a ladies man reputation and Marty knows that Valerie would only encounter heartache with Flynn so he does the impossible to keep them away from each other.
Time passes and an unfortunate encounter is what brings Valerie and Flynn back together. Valerie is hurt by how quickly Flynn forgot about her and now he wants to be here for her in a very painful and emotional time in her life, and she's trying like hell to keep him at arm's length. But Flynn is not giving up easily. He's been in love with Valerie since the moment he laid eyes on her but was forbidden to him by his best friend.
How much heartache can a person take?
Will Flynn succeed in getting the girl of his dreams? Will people come between them to separate them? Will Valerie finally give in and give Flynn a chance?
Oh boy, so many questions????

This is my first book of KL Shandwick's and I can tell you it will not be the last. This book is jam packed with activity and crazy raw emotions. There was never a dull moment while reading this story.
When we meet Valarie she is a young impressionable 15 year old girl. It seems her life is destined to be full of unwanted and unhappy situations. Learning to deal with life when so many things seem to happen one after another can shape the people we grow into. Valerie turns out to be a strong and independent young woman with a solid start on a career. If she could just find some real love to add to this new life she has created.
Flynn sweeps into this book on a weekend and catches the attention of his buddies younger sister. This doesn't go over to well. But she has him all tied up in knots as well. Knowing he is no good for her he flees as fast as he can. As Valerie and her family go through these tragic situations Flynn comes back in support. Each time finding it harder to keep control where Val is concerned.
Flynn has the bad reputation long before he finds himself a big rock star. But unlike most his behavior might surprise you as he to matures before you eyes.
Can these two similar souls who have known such heartbreaking events find a way back to each other and help each out find a reason to live for all that life has to offer?
I was not even close to being ready for this book to be over. I hope we don't have to wait to long for part two.

This is my debut voyage with Ms Shandwick.
At first this book was a bit slow, it took me a while to get into it, I was just waiting for something great to happen. I almost gave up a third of the way through, and I found some of the language used by Valerie (15) to be a little off putting. She talks about ‘her pussy clenching’ at the sight of our sexy hero Flynn. I’m not sure this is really fitting to how a young girl would think/say.
I bypassed the feeling of wanting to DNF this book and the naughty way our young Valerie felt upon sight of Flynn and plowed through.
I’m so glad I carried on, because the story develops into a coming of age novel and with some great writing, heartbreaking moments and great characters, this book has earned four stars.
I really enjoyed the progression of Valerie and Flynn’s relationship, it was a case of ‘will they, won’t they’, and I wanted to find out if love could in fact, conquer all. These are two adorable characters, who I will like to watch grow. There are some pretty fantastic secondary characters too.
Apart from the first third of this book, KL managed to pull me in and continue reading what turned out to be a great great.
The ending certainly made me want to read the sequel, and just hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next book.

Having never read any of KL Shandwick's work before but having some of her books on my kindle I jumped at the chance to read this new series.
I absolutely loved the story and it took a turn that I was not expecting, it took me by surprise. Growing up with her older brothers Valerie was use to the behaviour of males, but betrayal from her boyfriend makes her leave her hometown. This book is so much more than teen angst, there are twists and turns that I never expected. Its an emotionally charged story, Valerie and Flynn go through such personal dilemmas to try and be together. At times I wanted to bang their heads together and say just open your eyes! Stop being so stubborn. But there were other times when my heart stopped still as I was gripped to the pages.
I have no idea where part 2 is going to take us but I will be waiting for Flynn with bated breath!

Growing up with her older brothers Valerie was use to the behaviour of males, but betrayal from her boyfriend makes her leave her hometown. 5 star review of Ready For Flynn (Ready For Flynn #1) by K.L. Shandwick

I haven’t read this series before so I went in blind to this listen. Wow, where do I start.? From the first chapter I was fully engaged as to what was happening with Valerie Darsin and Flynn Docherty.
Reeling from a devastating event in her life, Valerie has no one to turn to until Flynn makes a re appearance in her life just when she needs him the most. What an emotional roller coaster of a listen this book was and I freely admit to shedding a few tears along with some laughter.
The narration from Anne Marie Damman was extremely good and really brought the story to life for me as I listened. The only thing that would have made this even better was if it had been done in duet narration, but that is just my personal preference.
This was a story with heart and soul and it really got to me on a number of levels. Loved this one from start to finish and cannot wait to dive in to more in the series.

Ready for Flynn is a rockstar romance with a difference and it's a fabulous read. It will tug at your heartstrings as you read through this emotional journey, I would advise you have tissues at the ready.
Valerie Darsin is only 15 years old when her brother brings home his friend Flynn to spend thanksgiving with their family as soon as Valerie and Flynn meet there's an instant attraction but with a five year age gap there is no chance that anything can happen between them and when Flynn leaves he takes Valerie 's heart with him but she learns to move on. KL Shandwick has done it again! How she consistently creates these amazing books is beyond me. As the publisher has given you a brief outline of the book i won't. I will tell you this book made me laugh, it made me cry (you will need kleenex) It outraged me the way some people treat others. It made my heart hurt, and it made my heart happy. Ready for Flynn takes you on a journey of growth both in age and experiance. It shows you when you suffer a tragic loss, you don't have to let your life end too. It was an overall great story. I give this book five stars. I am impressed.

I read this book for a review group. I can't tell you how great this book was. I will admit I was iffy of the ages at first. I think that's the momma in me lol. And I was totally blindsided with a certain thing that happened. I tell ya I had tears for a good 30% of this book. The characters were very well written. I liked how you got to see Val grow from a smart teenager to a very responsible woman. I feel if I keep going on I'll give lots of spoilers. So I will leave this... There's tears, laughs, heartache, love, rockers, betrayal, and some steamy scenes(of course when she is of age) great book and I can't wait for Part 2

I can tell you that he may just have beaten Gibson to the post....
Valerie and Flynn have an emotional ride, and the story is beautifully written.
if you love your rock stars then this book is for you.... KL Shandwick's words are effortless in this book, they pull you and hook you deep, never wanting you to let go....

Wow. Talk about sucking you right in. Valerie is such a strong character and that’s certainly a blessing with the obstacles life is throwing at her. Flynn is brilliant. Even though he has a bad reputation she believes in him.
Their story had me all over the place. From tears to big grins this story had it all. I’m so looking forward to reading more of Flynn and Valerie.
If you haven’t read anything by this author YOU NEED TO. A brilliant read.
