A bold daylight robbery costs the lives of two men and puts the futures of two ranches in doubt. The ranches, belonging to friends and a family member of Ben Blue makes it personal. Ben finds himself in a tangled knot of good and evil, with no way of knowing one from the other. All he can do is trust no one, and start unraveling the tangles until those responsible are exposed for what they are… if he can. Many things stand in his way to keep him from seeing justice done. Even the gates of hell can’t stop him from trying.
Lou Bradshaw is a lifelong story teller, who spent most of his life as a commercial illustrator and graphic artist. Deadlines, clients, and vendors were all sources of sleep depriving stress. To combat insomnia, he would often create stories in his mind to take the place of what was bothering him. Soon, some of those stories had grown to the point that they needed to be put on paper. Taking up a felt tip pen and a loose leaf binder, he found something new, challenging, and exciting. He soon filled multiple binders and his distraction had become a passion. Upon retirement, he began assembling notes and scribbles into novels… the rest is history. One of the unique features of his work is that as a dyslexic child, he was considered either slow or lazy by most of his teachers. To date he has written 7 books, which is 6 more than he was able to read while in school. His only legitimate book report, although 3 months late, was Huckleberry Finn. Lou and his wife Avon live in the Missouri Ozarks, where they enjoy their family, golf, and the great outdoors.
Consistently amazed at this series of novels, and Mr. Bradshaw's quick wit, which certainly enhances the wonderful storylines. I have been praising the author since book one and his western intellect only enhances each new adventure.
Again five stars do not give this author, or these wonderful and exciting escapades justice. I become overwhelmed with the outstanding adventures of Ben Blue and his gang of ragamuffins, as the meander about their daily excitement.
Too, the author certainly goes above and beyond with his excellent selection of his characters throughout their daily exploits. I am enthralled with their daily activities, and it has been exceptionally hard for me to always pick out the main character bad guy. Most of the time I am pretty proficient at jumping the gun, but Mr. Bradshaw doesn't give too much info to reveal who us who. This increases anticipation as to what happens next. Great story writer, creating a very strong following of western excitement. Has me hooked: Like a brook trout takes a hot top water plug!
Most certainly recommend this series and anyone not choosing these outstanding novels will definitely be the losers. Not only is this series a masterpiece by an exceptionally talented author, but several other novels by him are five star, also!
Ben's father-in-law, Sam, and a friend suffer a great financial loss when the money from the sale of 3000 head of cattle is stolen in Junction City. The father-in-law suffers a stroke and Ben sets off with a ranch hand and others from the affected ranches. They find Junction City to be a very small overrun with outlaws and criminals. Ben and his followers track the gang through rugged desert areas where there is little water and less grass for the horses. They find a gang in a remote cabin and eliminate or capture each one; however, the leader is a business owner who has fled Junction City. One prisoner escapes and Ben follows him into the depth of the desert. When he returns to Junction city he continues to pursue the father and son criminal master minds until he captures and kills each of them. The stolen money is returned to the ranchers. This story has multiple characters and we get to know them all as individuals. Ben continues to demonstrate his courage, wisdom, determination and his love of family. This was an action packed story that holds the reader from the first page.
An LB Ben Blue (8) Western/Robbery/Murder/Apaches/Mad White Man
LB has penned a Ben Blue western about his wife's grandfather's ranch and the paired ranch for business. They sold 3000 head of cattle to a rancher in Junction City and a few of the ranchers men decided to Rob the ranchers in way to Taos. They were successful and the U.S. Marshal sent BY on the mission. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Another fine Ben Blue western with his friend from the old world and his friend from South of the border, the avenging angel. Thanks Mr. Bradshaw, good stories. Reminds me of times as a young man, working sw Oklahoma farm\ranch and in the evenings reading Lamours Sackett stories as I drifted off to sleep. LK
Lou continues to keep my attention with is realistic characters and his ability to paint true visions of the countryside, especially to this reader who lives in the country he describes. Time for me to select another one of his books.
Great western with excellent characters and storyline. Friendship and Family are what Ben Blue loves the most. He wanted to get his grandfather in law money that was stolen.
Awesome! I so enjoy these books on Blue. They have action and no nasty. But they keep you turning the pages. Thank you Lou Bradshaw for another great read.
