Special Agent Finnegan- I have really enjoyed reading about Finn and Renee the past couple days. What an amazing duo. I was captivated from the first page and couldn't stop once I started. I love a good Cop romance and this one definitely did not dissapoint. I love MiMi's writing style, she kept my interest and left me wanting more. Finn was an awesome character and his dad was such a funny Irish man. And Renee and he'd disguises was brilliant. I loved the person she was, inside and out. Renee is probably one of my favorite heroine's I have read lately. I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of her in the next book for this series. you should totally give this book a shot!!

Not Afraid To Love You- This was a touching story about a young woman in an abusive relationship. Finding her strength she decided she needed a better life for herself. So with the help of her siblings and her brothers best friend she jumps out of her shell. Overall I it was enjoyable, but the writing style wasn't really for me. 4 stars for this one.

The Sheriff Meets His Match- Another suspense filled adrenaline rush. This one was short but perfectly timed. I didn't feel that it was rushed at all, and the facts were all in place. A quick suspense filled romance perfect for a lunch time reading. Laurel is trying to make a new life for herself after living slightly on the wrong side of the law. She grew up learning that you do what needs to be done to help and protect family. But when she leaves it doesn't mean he past won't catch up to her in due time. So when the past comes calling she has to do what needs to be done to protect her family and her heart from the sexy sheriff in the new town she's stumbled upon... So if you need a short adrenaline rushing book, here's your slice.

Protecting His Wolfe- This was very short read, and mostly satisfYing. It wasn't what I expected and that's not a bad thing. Betsie escaped the life of being a preachers daughter in order to branch out and find her own way. She moves across state and hopes for the life she's dreamed of. But her job might just lead her to the opposite of that dream. When she gets tangled up in a murder it gets to be dangerous. But a detective comes swooping in to protect her. if you want a short sweet tale, here it is.

Love is A Fire- Holy Fireballs!! Let me tell you, this book just freaking rocked my world. Lyssa has a freaking amazing writing style and I swear she's got me a majician. Like whoa. what an amazing story.
I love, love, love firefighters. their stories are one of my absolute favorites. And I love Doctor romances too. so I got the best of both worlds.
I'm still in shock and it's been 2 days since I've finished this book. but it needs to be read, because 5 flaming stars, how could you not? This is tied for first in this box set!!

Crushed- OHH, THIS book! love, love, love. It's hard to cope when you lose a loved one. Especially when it's your twin brother. Losing her twin brother brought Felicity close to HIS best friend. But the problem... Felicity can't stand Cody, the thrill seeker who never grew up. I absolutely adore best friends sister romances. they are my Fave. and this one didn't disappoint. The story took a few turns on me that I wasn't expecting, but that's a good thing! I can't wait to read more of Jade's work!!

Distorted Loyalty-- Holy Heck Stacy Eaton is a freakin' magician with words, They come to life in her books. I feel like head is caught in a vortex after finishing this amazing story. She literally ripped my heart out, shook it up in a blender, threw it on the floor and stomped on it. And then put it all back together again. (In a good way) Absolutely amazing! If you plan on reading this book ( I mean read this book) you better have an open schedule, because once you read the first line, first chapter, you will be so immersed you WILL NOT be able to put it down. Before I knew it I was in chapter 8, talk about a book leaving you timeless.
It really is a small world when it comes to people. I don't think many of us know how intertwined our lives really are with others. Our lives can already be interlocked years before we meet. It's crazy... and absolutely amazing!! When Rachel and Grant meet little do they know their lives are about to change, MAJORLY! Little did they know their lives have already changed. I can't really rehash this story because I do NOT want to spoil not one bit. You'll just have to read it and find out what happens because you will be flabberasted, you will get goosebumps, you will cry, you will be heart broken, but you will also laugh, and smile. This book is a perfect blend of emotions and I felt every single one of them. Stacy really has a way of capturing your attention from the get go. I fell a little in love with Grant, and Josh, Rachel's son, too. And my heart broke for Jazzy, Grants daughter but I would trade any word of this book. It rocked my brain, my heart, my soul. I couldn't have ask for a better story line nor characters. So, my word of advice, buy this brilliant story and me amazed for yourself! I guarantee you will Thank Stacy for writing such a remarkable book! Happy reading!

I've read several books from this set and have no doubt the rest of it will be as exciting as the ones I've read.

Distorted Loyalty by Stacy Eaton - I loved this story about Rachel and Grant, both married to the wrong people. They are mature and honest about their feelings and through their problems and their teenage children, they find each other and refuse to do the wrong thing.

Love is a Fire by Lyssa Layne - Shocking is all I can say about this fireman romance. It starts out almost typical, a love triangle between two doctors and a sexy, hunky, blue-eyed fireman, but then hits you with so much emotion, you are left reeling. Cannot give away ending.

Crime and Passion by Chantel Rhondeau - As always with Chantel's suspense stories, you get the best of romance and the best of a wicked and half-crazed murderer, making it hard to ever put her book down. Maddie and Donovan are so right together, yet full of sass and punch. Meanwhile, there's a murderer or are their two or three to catch.

You'll enjoy this set full of drama and romance.

Distorted Loyalty...........Stacy Eaton

Ms. Eaton's novels always fascinate me. Her topics vary between paranormal, police procedural and suspense, with some hot romance to add some spice.
She tests your imagination, your heart and your belief's. Distorted Loyalty is a wonderful novel that keeps you guessing from the first page to the last. The novel is told in alternating viewpoints so you see both sides of the events.

Rachel Wilde is on a lunch date with her son Josh, planning to do some last minute Christmas shopping. He's looking for something to give to a girl at school and they head to the local Bath shop to find a gift. Josh is totally uncomfortable in the shop, especially when the girl he wants a gift for, Jazzy (Jazlyn) Murphy wanders in with her Dad. There is a brief meeting, and even a little bit of harmless flirting between Rachel and Grant Murphy until a commotion and some loud shouting catches their attention. Rushing out they see a woman has been hit by a car. Rachel is an E.R. doctor and goes immediately into action. She knows this woman has little hope, but Rachel does not give up. She is shocked to find out it is actually Grant's wife and Jazzie's mother. Later after pronouncing her dead in the ER, Rachel goes to tell the family and is immediately faced with Grant's grief and anger, actually accusing her of not doing enough. As much as she enjoyed their flirting a short time ago, she leaves Grant hoping to never see him again. Fate has other ideas.

Grant Murphy's world has been rocked. He is a police detective and understands how fragile life can be. He apologizes to Rachel and they reach an understanding and the start of a friendship. His life is now focused on Jazzie's welfare and happiness.
When cleaning out some of his wife's things he discovers credit cards, bills and even pictures that indicate his wife was having an affair. His anger has now replaced the grief, and he wants to know more. The more he finds out, the more lies he realizes he has been living with.

This novel makes you ask yourself intriguing questions, is there life after death, Heaven or Hell, can you meet people who have passed before you when you die? There are twists and turns, sometimes shocking events and you can't imagine how this could possibly turn out! Ms. Eaton never lets us down.

I received this novel from the publisher for an honest review.

This box set is right up my alley and includes some of my favorite authors including Jacquie Biggar. Here is my review for Jacquie's story.

The Sheriff Meets His Match

Jack Garrett is the sheriff in Tidal Falls and he’s seen his fair share of heartbreak. After his wife left him and his daughter, he vowed never to let it happen again. But one look at his new receptionist in her killer red heels, he knew he was in trouble.

Laurel has a serious case of wanting to escape her dysfunctional family, so much so that she up and moved from Florida to Tidal Falls to flee. But like a persistent itch, her uncle finds her and disrupts her happy life. He’s got his eye on an easy mark and Laurel is helpless to stop him.

Her uncle she can handle but the heat cranks up when the sheriff kisses her at the station. She tries to rationalize her feelings as lust but the more she’s around him, the deeper she falls in love. Can she come clean with Jack before he discovers what her family is up to or will he see her for the criminal her uncle is?

I love holiday romances and if you add a few drops of sizzling romantic suspense, I’m all yours. This novella by Jacquie Biggar has it all and more. True, it’s part of the Wounded Hearts series but can be read as a stand-alone as well. But I must warn you, once you’ve had a taste of Tidal Falls and their residents, you’ll want to gobble up the other books in the series.

Favorite Character: Laurel. I loved her sarcasm, her wit but most of all, her heart. She’s got a heart of gold and even though she’s indebted to her uncle for taking care of her when her parents died, she wants to get away from the scams her family pulls on innocent people. She’s got some deep-seated pain from her childhood but she’s a positive person. Plus, her favorite color is pink. ;)

Favorite Quote: You can’t live with them, and you can’t shoot ’em. It’s a felony. ~Laurel speaking about men

My Rating: 5+ stars

I highly recommend this box set and give it 5 stars!

I've read one book from this bundle - Distorted Loyalty by Stacy Eaton, and this review is of this book only.

I was lucky to read the beta version of this book.

A combination of police procedural with paranormal, the book was filled with fast paced action, numerous and often unsuspected twists and turns of the plot that combined suspense with mystery.

A chance meeting ignites passion, but duty and sensibility won’t let the heroine take the opportunity easily just because it’s there.
Some very traumatic events forever change the lives of many characters in this book. Would they be able to overcome the obstacles that life puts in front of them or would they get crushed?
Told from different points of view, the story has some very likable characters (adults as well as the kids) – they would often make the reader either chuckle or want to scream and shake some sense into them.

I've read some of the other books in the set and am thrilled that my book is one of them. I love the alpha male who can protect with his hard body and yet love deeply with a softness in his heart. I know you will enjoy these stories and fall a little in love with our heroes.

***After reading "The Sheriff Met His Match" by Jacquie Biggar, I can definitely say you won't be disappointed.

This is a set with many of my fave authors! Although I am only beginning to get through the books here is what I have so far:

Love Is A Fire - Lyssa Layne

Wow!!! Have your kleenex ready!!

Dr.Katy Malone is afraid of getting close to anyone after losing those she has loved! Her ex-fiance Jeremiah is not ready to give her up yet after she called off their wedding when her father died.

Into her life walks Nick Garrity, a fireman who meets Katy after a fellow firefighter is injured. Their attraction is instant but is it enough to put Katy's doubts about being with someone with a dangerous job aside?

Is a once in a lifetime love enough to move forward?

The relationship is intense and the love I have for all the characters is huge!! I can not wait to see what happens next.

Crime & Passion - Chantel Rhondeau

Madeline Scott has no idea how much her life is about to change when she finds a dead body on the beach. Soon she discovers that her own life is in danger after people all around her are killed and she is not sure who to trust.

Police officer Donovan Andrews is one of the first officers on the scene and when he discovers it's a man he had an altercation with the night before he soon becomes a suspect. Will Madeline and Donovan be able to work together to get to the bottom of who is committing these crimes or will one of them end up dead instead as it is clear that no one is safe.

I thought this book was great as although I had figured out part of the end ahead of time other parts kept me suspicious of everyone! I found the book very suspenseful and I was definitely engrossed in the book the whole way through.

I enjoyed how Donovan's "reputation" kept Madeline away from him but understood why to a certain degree he was that way as he never found anyone that his heart truly wanted. When you got a glimpse of his past it made everything else so clear and he really didn't have it easy growing up.

Great read and I was really entertained from start to finish!

**** "To Protect and Love" box set by multiple authors.

===================

**** "Special Agent Finnegan" (Book Two in the FBI series) by Mimi Barbour (individual novel and also in the "To Protect and Love" box set). (Reviewed by Alicia Klick Kendall)

Having read the first book in the FBI series by Mimi Barbour, "Special Agent Francesca," which I thoroughly enjoyed, I was looking forward to reading book two in the series. The author did not disappoint.

I was truly enthralled by this novel. I have always liked Special Agent Finnegan; his supervisor and friend Jack who always seems to be having a bad day, month or year; The Joker also known as Colin (Finn's father and a retired cop) and the addition of police officer Renée Knight in this novel. The characters are consistently written very well. They are easy to relate to, except maybe Jack

Review of Crime & passion by Chantel Rhondeau

This book is aptly titled, because it serves up plenty of crime and passion!

The love story between Madeline and Donovan was well-paced and believable. I enjoyed seeing a woman who has been burned by love learn to trust again, and a former womanizer finally discover true love and give his heart to someone. There were some misunderstandings along the way (what's a good romance novel without them?), and rooting for them to overcome them was part of the fun.

What really kept me turning pages was the mystery element. So many murder mysteries aren't really a mystery at all, with the culprit easy to guess in the early chapters. There were plenty of possible suspects here, and while the true perpetrator was someone I identified as a possible suspect, it was never obvious and the twists and turns of the plot kept me guessing the whole way.

The Sheriff Meets His Match is an intriguing story of love overcoming the odds, set against a backdrop of mystery and suspense. Jacquie Biggar expertly tells the tale of a reserved sheriff who struggles with letting his guard down to allow a woman into his life for the first time in many years. The fact that the woman he is drawn to has a secret past complicates their relationship. Eventually that past starts to catch up with her, leaving readers on the edge of their seats!

My review is for Special Agent Finnegan by Mimi Barbour. I really enjoyed this book.

Finn is a special agent who has taken a medical leave of absence to look after his father who had a heart attack and to work the family bar while his Dad rested or at least took it easy a little. In his town. He gets a phone call to come to his bosses office. He is offered an assignment to help find the murder of another agent. It was made to look like a suicide but the agent's daughter or his co-workers believe that he took his own life.

This is an interesting story that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I also read Not Afraid to Love You by Jude Ouvrard

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lilly is married to Dave and at the beginning their relationship is great. In the prologue of the book the author hints that Dave likes wine alot, so that leads me to believe that he may have a drinking problem. When Lilly does something he doesn't like he turns abusive.

Lilly finally has enough and moves back with her sister Abbey and Abbey's boyfriend Logan. Matthew Lilly's brother lives close. Lennox is a friend of theirs from high school. He now is a police officer and her family insists that she get a restraining order.

Lilly gets a job and tries to get her life straightened out and then falls for Lennox. One thing leads to another and things didn't work out. Will Lilly and Lennox work things out and have a happily ever after. I don't want to give away the best parts of the book but I think you would enjoy it if you just sat down and gave it a try. I really did enjoy the book

Another good book by Jade Kerrion, Crushed.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Felicity lost her brother and she was struggling to keep afloat trying to pay off his bills. She was struggling and blamed his best friend Cody for her brother's death. When Cody offered to help she refused. He offered her a job and she reluctantly took it.

Don't want to give too much of it away so I think you would enjoy it if you picked it up and read it.

I also read The Sheriff has met his Match by Jacquie Biggars. This was a great book. I read it in one evening.

Jack is the Sheriff in the town. He is a confirmed bachelor and he has a teenage daughter named Tina from a previous relationship. Jack has sworn off women until Laurel comes to town. She is the sassy receptionist at the office now. Her Uncle Max comes to town. Because of the things that has happened in the past Laurel thinks she is going to have to move. It seems her Uncle Max has come out of retirement. He is a bjt of a swindler.

The story holds your interest and keeps you on your toes. You have a hard time putting it down.

This is a great anthology for such a good price. There are so many good authors here. I thoroughly enjoyed all the books. Here is a synopsis of the books:

Mimi Barbour. Special Agent Finnegan. Very good.
Finn O'Reilly was on leave from the FBI as his dad had a heart attack. Finn was taking care of his Dad and working at O'Reilly's bar that his dad owned. He was outside his boss' office (Jack) one night waiting to talk to him and her his conversation with a woman. He could tell she was a feisty thing and then when he saw her he knew he was correct. His boss wanted him to come back and work and undercover job. The suspected that there was a serial killer making the deaths look like suicide. The woman, Renee, that was in his boss' office was an undercover cop and her dad was one of the deaths made to look like suicide. Renee told him if they didn't do something soon, she was going to handle it herself. They did find one common thread that many of the people who wanted someone dead had their conversation overheard at O'Reilly's bar.

There was also another story going on with Renee trying to find a rapist. The reason Renee hadn't started looking for the people she felt killed her father was because she was trying to catch the rapist. She was posing as a college student at the college where the rapes took place. That was an exciting and edge of your seat situation.

I loved the book. I enjoy reading thriller books that also have a love story included. I enjoyed seeing Finn and Renee work together and become closer. They both had situations from their past that made them vulnerable. You need to read the book.

Jude Ouvard. Not Afraid to Love You Very good
Lily McCarthy is living in Seattle with Dave. Her family lives in her home town of Spokane. Lily thought she had a great life until Dave stated hitting her and telling her what she could wear and when she could go out. He was rich and always gave her gifts. He told her she could never leave him. One day while Dave was out, Lily's sister called and Lily broke Dow. Her sister told her to pack some clothes and get out of the house now and come home. Lily grabbed her clothes and dog and went back to Spokane. Her sister and brother were so upset when the same her and some of her bruises. They told her to get a restraining order against him. She went to meet with Sergeant Eastwood and was surprised to find out it was Lennox Love her brother's best friend and her high school crush. He was using his mother's maiden name because he didn't want to be known as Sergeant Love. She didn't want him to see her or tell him everything she went through, but she did.

Lily saw Lennox everywhere and ended up renting an apartment he owned and lived. Lily was stand offish and didn't feel like she could ever love again. You need to read to see what happens. Read how Lily becomes stronger and what happens to Lennox. It was sad to read about someone being beaten and putting up with it. It was encouraging how Lily finally found her way out. I loved Lennox and was heartbroken over what he went through. It was a well written book and moved me.

Jacquie Biggar. The Sheriff Meets His Match Very good
Laurel moved from Miami to Washington state to work for a few weeks in a small town as a receptionist for the sheriff. She was just helping a friend out. Jack, the sheriff, was a big, good looking man. He had a teenage daughter from a failed marriage where his wife left him and his daughter. Jack was a little gun shy when it came to women. Laurel's uncle Max came to town looking for Laurel. They had done some con jobs in the past and her uncle needed her one more time. His daughter's ex husband had beat his daughter up because Max had made it so Joe (the ex husband) would lose $20,000. Joe wanted the money back. Laurel loved the small town and the people. She didn't want to do anything to hurt anyone. She was also falling in love with Jack. You need to read the book to see what happens to everyone.

I liked seeing Laurel and Jack falling in love. Laurel and Jack's daughter got along well too which was sweet. I enjoyed the book.

Melissa Keir. Protecting His Wolf. Good
This is a short story. Betsie Wolf was the daughter of a minister and tried to live right. She worked for Anderson trucking filing and inputting orders. Her supervisor was always on top of them to work hard and long. She stayed late one night to file and overheard Mr. Anderson and her friend Johnny talking about drugs and money. She was scared and waited awhile to eave the building. She kept to leaving on time for a couple of weeks until her boss said she was leaving too early. She decided it was all right to stay late, and that she probably heard wrong. She was waving through the garage, fell and was down on her knees picking up the lipstick that fell out of her purse when she heard tires squealing. She looked up and saw Johnny being shot and then the car tok off. She ran back in the office and dialed 911. Jonah Pigg was the detective that was investigating the murder. The business was being watched for drugs and trafficking. Read to see what happens to Betsie and how her an Jonah fall in love. It was intriguing. It was an enjoyable short story.

Lyssa Layne. Love is Fire. Very good.
This is a book that I loved and hated at the same time! There is not a HEA, but there is a beautiful love story. Of course the hate part is not having my HEA. Dr. Katy Malone was working at the NY hospital when a firefighter was brought in that had been burned. His buddy, Nick Garrity is there with him. Katy was beautiful and Nick asked her out for coffee. She hesitates, but goes out with him. She had called off her wedding to another doctor at the hospital a few months back as she felt everyone she loved died. Her mother died when she was young and she had lost her father a few years ago.

Nick talks her into seeing him even though he is a firefighter. She definitely did not want to fall in love with someone who has a dangerous job. She also found out that Nick's brother, Ryan had died on 9/11. Ryan knew that Katy was the one for him and was falling in love. He took her to his house for Thanksgiving dinner. His mother, Lisa, had cancer and only a short time left on this earth. You need to read the book to see what happens. There are some happy times and some very sad times. This book made me laugh and cry. It is easy to fall in love with the characters or feel that they are your good friends. I loved the book and the author leaves you with hope for Katy’s future.

Stacy Eaton. Distorted Loyalties Very Good

Rachel’s husband keeps questioning her about the woman who died and how her daughter took it. Rachel was surprised he was so concerned about her and he said that he knew her from school. Josh talks her into going to the funeral with him and Rachel runs into Grant. Grant is furious that she came to the funeral and tells her to leave. Rachel is upset and sits in the car when they go to the gravesite.

Grant ends up talking to one of the emergency techs who tells him that Rachel did everything she could to save his wife. He also tells her that Rachel went way beyond what any other doctor would have done. His wife was just too far gone to save. Grant feels terrible about the way he treated Rachel. You need to read the book to see what happens. There is betrayal, jealousy, misunderstandings, lies, and love. The book was really well written. I didn’t want to put the book down. There were wonderful friends to help Grant through his emotions and Rachel’s son Josh was such a great help to Rachel. I think you will love the book.

I read four books in this awesome boxed set and have no doubt the rest are just as great!

The Pigg Detective Agency Book One by Melissa Keir

This is a quick-read alpha-male romance told as kind of a parody of the Three Little Pigs fairy tale. Except that the Piggs here are three handsome alpha brothers in detective work and the Wolfe is a short blonde named Betsie who witnessed a crime at work and needs protection. She and the oldest brother, Jonah, fell in love at first sight and their romance bloomed very quickly. This short, 50-page book flows easily, manages to cover all the bases and finishes with a happily-ever-after, however it fell short for me in the plot, character and romance developments. This plot is capable of so much more. For instance, we don't find out much about the background of Betsie's boss or co-workers; and the love between our protagonists Betsie and Jonah happened so fast that there was no time for any woo-ing. I would love to read a more fleshed out, full-length version of this novel and subsequent future installments of the series. 3.5 of 5 stars.

Crime & Passion by Chantel Rhondeau

This book is a cross between a mystery and a romance, and both have challenges that leave us biting our fingernails until the very last page. I loved it! It all starts with a simple, innocent walk on the beach ... then girl finds body, 9-1-1 sends HUNK-A-COP, sparks fly over body ... but it's too easy to end there. Now girl is in danger after possibly witnessing murder and HUNK-A-COP gets himself assigned to protect her. Girl and HUNK-A-COP start getting cozy then HUNK-A-COP is arrested for the murder! It seems as though someone wants both of them out of the way. There were twists and turns in here that I definitely didn't see coming. Well written and entertaining. I especially liked the epilogue. 5 of 5 stars.

Distorted Loyalty by Stacy Eaton

Wow. Just ... wow. This book has everything you could possibly want, and then some. Just as I thought I had figured things out, BOOM - another bomb was dropped that changed my whole perspective again. I love books like this! I will just say the whole novel will keep you on your toes and is extremely exciting. I felt just about every emotion I could while reading this book and it felt so good! The book was so well-written and flowed so effortlessly that it was easy to read and easy to keep all the complications straight. It kept me enthralled, gasping, shaking my head, laughing, a bit teary and a whole lot interested through the whole thing! 5 of 5 stars, most definitely.

Love In A Pawn Shop by Bonnie Edwards

I read this book as part of the To Protect and Love boxed set. It was well-written and humorous and it did well in keeping my interest. There's a hometown neighborhood feel to the book and it's characters. You will root for Dix and Dane and will pull for Dix's brother Riley to stay out of the trouble that keeps inviting him in. I especially loved Dane's lively grandmother Mitzi and Dix's personality-plus dog. This is a stand-alone novel with a feel-good happy ever after ending. There were some issues with repeated chapters and missing text in my copy that should have been caught by a good proofread. 3.5 stars out of 5.

Love Is A Fire by Lyssa Layne is an amazing story, I could not put it down. This was Lyssa debut book and I am eagerly waiting to read more of her writing. Katy is a doctor who has given up on love after losing everyone she ever loved until she meets Nick, a Fireman. She vowed never to love again and especially a fireman but Nick knew she was the one and was not letting her go. She was his future wife and he would prove they were meant to be. Love Is A Fire was a book of passion, love, heartache, jealous ex's, enviousness, friends, & family everything I love in a book. Lyssa this was really amazing but I did feel the need to punch someone a bit ago. I definitely recommend this book go one-click it now!

So far, I've only read Crime and Passion by Chantel Rhondeau, which I received an advanced copy of, in exchange for an honest review. It's a lot darker than the MacCallisters Paradise series, but a lot grittier. It all starts with a murder, a handsome cop, and a beautiful witness. I was completely STUNNED when the killer was revealed! It was soooo unexpected! I thoroughly enjoyed this whodunnit romance, and all of the well-fleshed characters!
