A man without memory. A land in the grip of tyranny. A battle for freedom...and the secrets of a forgotten past.Near the island of Tereg, a man is pulled from the sea. His name is Azaran, and he remembers nothing of his history beyond his name. Not his homeland, his people, or how he gained the magical runes branded into his chest that make him faster and stronger then ordinary men.Desperate and confused, Azaran has fallen into a world where the strong prey upon the weak and there is no justice to be had beyond the edge of a sword. He is put in chains by his captors and taken to Tereg, a land suffering under the brutal reign of the corsair king Enkilash, whose ships ravage the shores of all lands, a vile reaver at war with life itself, seeking to drown the world in blood.Sent into the arena to fight for the amusement of his captors, Azaran instead leads a revolution against the tyranny of the corsairs. Facing overwhelming odds, and with only a band of escaped slaves and rebels at his back, Azaran will lead the fight for freedom, even as the darkness of his past catches up with him...Warrior on the Edge of Memory is the first book of The Tale of Azaran epic fantasy series. This was a completely different book to the books i read. I enjoyed it very much. Such detail, and excitement. I am not spoiling so you must read for yourself. Hope you enjoy as much as I did
The concept intrigued me: an amnesiac man with strange and inexplicable powers he himself does not understand washes up, is fished out of the sea by pirates and put in a fighting pit for their amusement. From that trial by fire he must learn about this world and himself, before his unknown enemies track him down.
The world that's slowly being revealed proved a worthy execution: a fantastic sword and sorcery land with no end of danger, magical and human, for our hero to pit himself against. His first enemy, a pirate warlord with the power to control the wind, may prove too much for him.
On the down side, the resolution was a little too quick for my liking, but there are mysteries and hints enough to keep me reading as we explore the world and our protagonist.
Stronger than Tarzan, swifter than Conan & a better swordsman than Zorro! Meet Azaran the latest & soon to be greatest sword & sorcery hero to date! Looking forward to new prose from good old Zackery! May your future efforts be as great as this first novel in the series! Buy you guys!,
I enjoyed this book. The story was easy to read, the characters were good, and the world it was set it was well defined. My only complaint is that it could have used another round of editing (e.g. it's lightning, not lightening). I'm looking forward to the additional books in the series.
First off, if you edit your own books, fire yourself. It was enough that it became aggravating. If someone else does and you pay for it, get your money back. I like the storyline, and outside of the edit misses, it was well written. MC was easily likable.
