Rate this book
They're vampire detectives, and to do their job they must fight their attraction ... until they can't.

Valerie Knight and Devon Fall are vampires. They are also detectives in New Atlanta who are chasing a violent sociopath who targets registered prostitutes. Valerie has always kept herself isolated. She has a difficult time trusting anyone after a past in which her Master used and abused her and forced her to treat humans as nothing more than chattel. The past haunts her so much that she can't completely give in to her instinctive desires. Devon Fall is her handsome and mysterious new partner who has some secrets of his own.

As they track down the vile perpetrator, Val and Devon dance around their attraction to each other. Every movement seems to bring them closer to the inevitable passion, but Valerie tries desperately to hold him at arm's length. She's never given her heart to anyone, and she can't imagine ever being vulnerable to another of her kind after what her Master put her through.

When Valerie's life is threatened by someone from her past, Devon must race to save her from the clutches of her formidable enemy. Can he be her savior...in more ways than one? Can Valerie put the past behind her and give in to the passion she feels every time she's near Devon?

Forever fascinated by the paranormal, Alexis pens novels featuring werecreatures (love those Alphas!), vampires, ghosts, and more! Her first novel, Witchy Wolf, was just recently published in the box set, Fated Mates: The Alpha Shifter Boxed Set by Insatiable Reads, which hit the USA Today and NYT bestselling lists. This book is the first of a series about Chloe Jackson and her dealings with biker Gabriel Denton. So keep an eye out for the other books in the series and read them all, IF YOU DARE!

Meet Val, vampire cop in the future. And I was hooked. That was all it took. Especially when it was taken one step further and her new partner was also a vampire cop. They work together to find a serial killer who is stalking prostitutes. And in the meantime, fall for each other.

However, the editing left MUCH to be desired on this one. The coroner was listed as the corner, EVERY time. Add in a handful of typos and a sudden jump in the timeline that isn't explained and it ruined the joy I felt at first. The storyline jump was really why I had to drop this one down to three stars. They had four dead prostitutes then suddenly two and a half months pass. They've made NO progress at all on the case, but they've ended up in each others beds. This one could have been a 5 star book for me, had it just been edited more.

Knight Fall was a great book. It was full of action, suspense, and the romance was more believable than other paranormal romance stories I have read.

Valerie Knight is a detective with a dark past. She is a vampire, and her past is plagued with abuse. She keeps to herself and throws herself into her work as a dedicated cop. Then she meets Devon Fall, another vampire detective and finds herself drawn to him despite herself. They both have very different ways of handling their vampirism and yet still find themselves falling in love.

I liked this book most because it was sort of a cop drama with paranormal stuff thrown in.

First, why isn't there an option to click two genres at the same time? This is paranormal but also a mystery. Here's another Detective Knight who's a vampire ala Forever Knight. Formerly a loner, she's saddled with a partner, Detective Fall (ha-ha!) also a vampire. There is someone committing gruesome murders in town and the pair are on the case. Enjoyed this novella but it was far too short. It went well until the end where the author abruptly solved the case and ended it. That was after getting the two detectives in a more together way of course. Ms Dare really needed to space out the plot more.

Futuristic Vampire Tale
Detective Knight (Val) and Detective Fall (Devon) are brand new partners. This happen during a brand new murder case that turns out to be a serial killer of prostitutes. Both are vampires that almost no one in the department knows that fact except the coroner. Both find an instant attraction to one another. And Devon can’t believe how much Val looks like his dead wife from when he was human. Murder and Mahan and a whole lot more happens in this well written and self-contained story. Love the whole concept of this futuristic world.

Fantastic vampire police novel.

Terrific story about a police detective in the 23rd century after World War III. She is a homicide detective working the night shift in New Atlanta. She also happens to be a vampire with an aversion to human blood. When she meets her new partner, Devon, her whole world changes. I truly enjoyed the workings of the characters as they are solving a nasty murder while getting to know each other. Great way to pass my day.

The author has built a great dystopian world. Vampires Devon and Valerie are newly partnered detectives on the hunt for a real monster. Terrific suspense. I liked Val's determination and Devon's devotion. I would have loved to have seen a lot more development in their relationship.

It was ok

I liked the book, I just didn't like the abrupt ending. One minute your really getting into the book and it's just over..
