The first time I felt Maddox Walcott inside me was 8 years ago…

He was the university’s star striker, and I was their first female athletic trainer.

He was 19. I was 26.

The British bad boy had a mouth as foul as his attitude, and a c**k bigger than his ego.

He owned me that night in the locker room, and I knew I was ruined from that moment on…

And here we are 8 years later, making the same career-ending mistakes, except now…I’m carrying his baby.

Shot Caller is a contemporary new adult sports romance novel. Full Length. No Cliff. Contains graphic sexual content and foul language. 60,000+ Words in length.

Hey there,

I'm Colleen Masters, author of the Faster Series. Thank you so much for swinging by and checking out my stories! As an indie romance author, your support means everything to me. Let me tell you a little bit about myself...

I grew up in Central Jersey, and studied Theatre Arts and English at Monmouth University. (Going to college right next to the beach? Hell yes :D) My dream has always been to make a profession out of writing, so I moved to NYC five years ago and have been working my butt off to make that dream come true ever since. Right now, I'm living on the Upper East Side with my darling fiancé and our corgi, Frodo. (Bit of a lit nerd, what can I say?) All of my friends get such a kick out of my "survival job," but I don't really see my writing as a day job at all--it's way too fun for that!

These books are truly a labor of love, and I'm so happy to share them with you. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!

I usually always enjoy Colleen Masters' books...they are fun, sexy and easy to read with a fast moving plot and likeable characters (except for the ones who want to cause trouble). Shot Caller was a bit predictable...you always know lovers who sneak around will eventually get caught...but a good time nonetheless, and the perfect read for a night home alone or vacation. Poppy and Mad made a hot and at times really sweet couple and kept me engaged through the entire story.
Hot athletes are always a turn-on and this British piece of man-meat is no exception. On sale for less than a dollar right now and worth every penny.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun, fast read. I loved that Maddox was a I don't care take no crap do what he wants person. While at times he was pretty cocky and I wanted to be like come on I would just think about him being young and having fun. I really liked the character Poppy was. Having parents that expect so much and are disappointed in the paths she takes can be a very realistic. As well as the age hang up that she seems to battle at times. Great job, wonderful, fun story with very easy to relate to characters. Thanks for a great read!

Sweet, sexy and sizzling! I loved the older woman- younger man aspect of this story. It was written in such a way that the age difference didn't really matter. The biggest conflicts were the trust issues between Poppy and Maddox, and the petty jealousy between the team's head trainer and Poppy. Also the editor owes the author a refund. Great story!

Colleen Masters' new book, Shot Caller, is great, once you get past the frequent editing problems. More on that later. This was an ARC to this reviewer. I should also say I have not felt she was at the top of her game lately, but clearly CM is back and progressing nicely. Welcome back!

There is good romance here and a satisfying storyline and ending. This is required for at least three stars for me. She earns an additional fourth star for taking a sports personality romance (frequent subject for many authors) and making the story new and attractive. Not your typical Tarzan vs. Jane (fit into my world) story, but a tale of personal growth/maturing choices which make or break a lasting relationship. Although there is a plot point which may be seen as the factor in the change of behavior, the entire or developing maturity really ties this story to reality. Good job, CM!

What appear to be over the top personalities, is right on if you follow soccer. British football is rougher than American soccer, and the personalities are developed out of that atmosphere. A love of alpha males is granted, like all of CM's book, with an understanding of the different needs and respect for strong females, also typical for this author.

For the cons, editing is an issue throughout. Extra words left in after corrections made (I've been seeing this a lot in self published books) and misspellings and/or bad vocabulary which are just laziness or poor editor choice. Take a second look at this, Colleen, before you publish. This is a common problem for you and loses you a star. You are a good storyteller and this not worthy of your talent.

This was a short and sexy read. Poppy is eight years older than Maddox whom is currently in the states playing football in hopes of getting picked up by the premier league in Europe when they both first meet. The story picks up several years later after Mad gets picked out of the European league and as a last resort goes back to the states so he can continue to play football. What he doesn't know is that Poppy was also hired by the same team to be their team trainer. The attraction between them is very obvious that majority of the team notices and encourages Mad to go after Poppy. Shortly after getting together (and being forced to go public) Poppy turns up pregnant, and is afraid Mad won't want to be a part of her or the babies lives. Lucky for everyone, Mad decides he wants to stay with Poppy and raise their child.

The book was almost written where the situations where too perfect which was disappointing and if not for that I would have given it four stars. The epilogue was also short and even though you get to see some of them in the future it wasn't much. I would have liked to know what gender the baby was and what they named it or if they ever decided to get married. Maybe in the next book we will get to see more from Poppy and Maddox.

This was a great story. I really enjoyed Maddox and Poppy. They aren't perfect characters which makes them more relate-able and believable. We get to see them grow during the story and become more mature and better. It definitely endeared them to me more getting to be a part of this. I liked how Mad and Poppy were on the same level for the most part. Both make mistakes and they are on the same page, one is not superior to the other. They both have growth they need to do. I loved the soccer aspect of this story. The story flows really well and is a very smooth read. I was engaged from the very beginning and couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next and how things were going to end up for Poppy and Mad. I was very happy with where things went. There is definite romance and relationship in this story, even though the characters refuse to put a name to it. There are a lot of cute parts in this story and a LOT of hot ones. This story is very explicit and the sex is frequent. It fits for the characters and how things start for them. It didn't feel over the top for any of it and I liked the way that it was written into the story. I was very happy to have picked up this story. It's definitely worth checking out.

Shot Caller is about Maddox Walcott , a British arrogant, hot-tempered, devil-may-care bad boy who got banned from the top European football football league in the U.K.
He also happens to be the university’s star striker who had a one night stand with Poppy Abrams, their first female athletic trainer when he was injured during practice ,eight years ago .
Now he's back , got another chance to play for an American football team and Poppy doesn 't expect to see him again in the same football team she workes for .
I liked the concept of the story very much and loved the story and characters of Poppy & Maddox with the easy banter between their interesting dialogue , not to mention the sexy, steamy and downright delicious sex scenes .For me this is a great read !

Colleen Masters is one of my favourite authors, a must read, and Shot Caller is classic Masters. Shot Caller is a Sports themed story - Soccer - actually. Don't worry if you don't know anything about it, you don't need to know anything more than its "football" mostly in UK, Europe, South America (most of the world actually, but I'm not a fan!) That aside, I loved Mad and Poppy. For a man who knew nothing about relationships he actually nailed it, after some guidance from his sister. Poppy was so different away from her parents & her ex, she was a different person.
Colleen Masters' writing is crisp and clean, it is a joy to read. Do not miss out on reading Shot Caller. Pick it up from you favourite on-line store today.

****received an ARC for my honest review*****

This wasn't a bad story at all. A bad boy soccer star and the trainer. After a steamy session, they part ways. Years later, they are back on the same soccer team.

This was mainly all about the hot and intense connection they have together. Maddox is just an arrogant male who thinks he is a gift to the soccer world. Poppy just can't resist him.

It did have a bit of a twist with the ex and I thought it may have gone further into the story with it. It just dropped off.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Poppy has just landed her dream job as an athletic trainer for an American MLS team. The last thing she expected was for the teams owner to hire Maddox Walcott, a Primier League soccer player fired from his European team. Poppy and Maddox had a steamy hot encounter when he was a college student and she was finishing her doctorate. Poppy is kind of hoping that Maddox has forgotten about that night... but he didn't. Poppy and Maddox are wonderful characters with a complicated relationship. Wow, fantastic book!

Colleen Masters doesn't disappoint in this soccer romance. If you're a die hard sports romance fan this might not have quite the focus on the game you're looking for, but after reading a ton of football & hockey romances I was thrilled to find this soccer one! Poppy and Maddox (despite funny names) are a hot, humorous, and relatively believable couple with well-developed back stories. The book was fairly short and an easy read, but with a good balance between steamier scenes and actual plot!

Mad was a great character. Colleen wrote him fair. Poppy was a little insecure but we see a strong confidence in her work and love of sports. Her parents and ex did not give her any confidence in life but Mad who seems not to have relationship abilities is actually the exact partner for her. Great lesson in trusting your instincts. Get out of bad relationships if they cheat or control you less than the love and care you deserve.

I loved it!!!

Another great read from Colleen Masters. I have to say I did enjoy this book, it was set around an American soccer team but the story is about Maddox and Poppy hooking up again after a one night stand eight years previously. It was a great story that flowed nicely from start to finish, I would highly recommend it.

I don't even like soccer, yet here I was reading my second soccer romance with a British bad boy this week. SHOT CALLER was a solid read and I really enjoyed Maddox and Poppy. Their unlikely romance worked. Neither of them was looking for anything serious, but you knew with the sparks flying off the proverbial page that what they were saying wasn't actually going to happen.

MAD MAN AND POPS

Casual sex that turns to love for Mad and Poppy. Quick read, a little soccer, a little romance and a happy ending? No future information about them, the baby or their careers, but it was an OK read.
