The Boyfriend Deal

Rate this book
When Hadley’s ex-boyfriend starts to become a stalker, she decides it’s time to take drastic measures and kisses the first boy who walks past her locker. But she isn’t prepared for the kiss, not at all, or what happens afterward.

Tyler Robbins, the captain of the football team, is every girl’s dream guy. He has somewhat of a reputation for using girls and tossing them aside, not that it stops them from flocking his way. All of that changes the moment Hadley’s lips touch his.

When Tyler proposes that Hadley pretends to date him as a way to save them both—him from his mother and her from her ex-boyfriend—Hadley is reluctant to give it a try. In the end, she agrees, but she’s nowhere near prepared for the journey she’s about to embark on.

Young love

He is the captain of the football team and she is in the band. This story is typical young romance. Very clean and more for the young adult reader. Coming of age issues and teen drama. Fast read.

This a double Pov with the most freaking Exes I would have ever read about .

This story is about Hadley a girl who is a nerd type not very popular in high school she is just a normal girl whose ex boyfriend just cheated on her back. And now that the relation came to an end he has become a freaking ex.Hunter Hadley ex cannot accept the fact the she no longer with has become obsessed with her and stared freaking her out.She had to do something..........

description

She just kissed the first guy that crossed her and the guy was no other than Tyler Robbins .Tyler Hadleys childhood crush ,schools football team captain ,the most popular guy in the whole school with a melting smile.

Tyler never expected this to happen the Hadley would kiss her she taught tyler did not know her or did not notice her but it was wrong on Hadley behalf .Tyler mother was threating him that she would send him to military school if he did not stop becoming a man whore and get himself into a decent relationship.

They both had crush on each other but never showed as they had a huge difference between them which was a so called school protocol for the populars and the nerds.

Hadley never expected that Tyler would help her with her trouble with Hunter but he presented a offer which could never be refused in the case like Hadleys.

Tyler had two motives behind first was to get his mom beleave that he has changed and not send hi m to military school and second to have a actual relationship just like his parents .
But they both had double trouble in there lives .

description

Tyler ex and hunter Hadleys ex were putting forward many obstacles for them and both of them took many steps which were harming the other person.

description

The whole thing was freaking Hadley out and watching her freak out was making Tyler restless.Tyler ex stared with ruining Hadleys locker and Hunter by ruining Tyler truck tiers.Nothing could hadley and tyler relationship which was quite strong but Tylers ex had crossed all the lines .

description

Tylers ex poisoned Hadleys which ended her to loose most off her eye sight but did not effect the relationship which was made more strong because of this incident .

I'm currently 45% through and there is just no consistency and is full of contradictions. That being said, ultimately if I finish it, this book will only be getting 1 star. Sometimes I finish a book just for a good laugh, ie- this one.
If you're looking for a self entitled "hero" then this is it. Your typical jock falls for geek, and she just thinks about how unworthy she is of this high school 'god'. I've even highlighted someone of my favorite quotes;

"If I wasn't the super popular captain of the football team, Tyler Robbins, I wasn't anyone."

He then talks about how he isn't going to let some geek lower his hs status, that it's his senior year and he's going to keep being the king of basically everything and some girl, let alone Hadley, come and change that. Then he says this: 'Little did they realize I would do anything to be allowed the pleasure of worshipping the feet of Hadley Ryan.'

Then, when he was so set on his school status this gem comes out:
"Yeah, so Hadley was a band geek, why was everyone so hung up on that?" When just the page before he was going on about how important his status was!

70% - They've been together for 3 days. She's been blinded by his ex and they're talking about going away to college together and getting an apartment. 3. Days. 3 days.

71% - After a week and a half of dating he's bought her a ring. A promise ring. Awesome...

Well, after holding onto her V-card almost religiously she's ready to lose it. To the notorious player of the school and after only dating him for a week and a half. Yes. You go girl.

Just incase any author ever reads this - Jacksonville is quite a drive to make for classes at University of Florida. It's about an hour and a half. FSU is even farther to commute for classes. 2 hours and 40 minutes. Homework.

Just no. What a waste of time. I think I'm going to try writing. Seems like just about anyone can write a book these days. Even my 6 year old. Who does a better job then this.

I received this book for an honest review on behalf of a kiss down under book blog.

Can the band geek curve the bad boy, captain of the football team's, playboy ways? Thinking she made a deal to help her ride her of the ex boyfriend from hell, has Hadley signed up for more than she bargained for? And has Tyler found the one he can settle down with?

A quick easy YA read, the story was easy to followed and flowed well. It was great to read a book that didn't have the main character who was content with herself and didn't have the usual tendencies to be constantly jealous because she was with a popular boy.

If I was to criticise anything it would have been great to extend this book into a full length novel so there was more opportunity to build the characters and storyline more. Well done and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Very short and sweet. Decent plot. Wish there was more to it though. Reminded me of To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han.

I gave this book 5 stars because of Tyler. He was amazballs!! This book started out really good. It was funny and cute while still being serious. As I read on I felt as if everything was rushed. I don’t know if that’s because the author wanted to have a shorter book or if it’s because it’s suppose to be a novella. Who knows.
One other part that really got to me was Hunter and Alicia. What happened was so very unrealistic. It may happen in the real world but it’s unlikely that a high school girl would do something like that.
As I got towards the end I kept thinking “oh this is how it ends” but I was wrong. This happened three times before I finally came to the epilogue.
All in all this was a cute, quick read. If a little far fetched at times. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun read!!

This book is written like a first book of someone who needs to do a lot of growing and learning about writing. It isn't a horrible book it just needs building upon. It is a corny book on an overplayed subject matter and I just didn't get it. One thing that really throw me off was the fact that she was in marching band but had never been to a Football game. Where I come from those two go hand in hand. I just feel like this book needed more. More detail, more character development, more time for romance to grow, and then maybe the book would have appealed to me.

So after a few moments of hesitation I'm going to try to read another contemporary teen romance. Who knows what'll happens since the last CTR book I read was a total disaster. Since I'm a sucker for this kind of theme--a popular jock or girl meets a not-so-cool girl/boy--I choosed The Boyfriend Deal by Charity West despite a low star review in Goodreads. I might like it. I might cursed and burn it. Or I might find it somehow tolerable. Let's start...

MORE LIKE A RANT:

Cliché.
Barf inducing cheesiness of lines, scenes and flirtatiousness.

description

This book is made especially for younger teens and for those who is not looking for a deep sense of emotion in a story. A very light read and a short one at that. I finished it in less than two hours and I had fun. Truly I had fun, there's always going to be a teenager-heart-always-on-kilig in me. (Kilig, when used as an adjective, refers to what a person feels when exhilarated by an exciting or romantic experience; thrilled, elated, gratified.) *check Oxford English Dictionary

Then there a CSI moment.
"I'll call my husband and ask him to meet me at the house. We’ll do a thorough search for it (the hemlock poison). If we find something, he can call the crime lab and have everything processed as evidence."
**insert CSI song** I do prefer CSI: NY though.

That twist is out of the normal theme with this kind of stories, and out of the blue. That's when I realize this book is fun. :-) (yes, I'm being sarcastic)

Anyways, to make my point clear, I did finished the book and I was able to tolerate it! Maybe because it is a short story that there's no time for me to chuck it into the DNF trashbox.
Hmm.. **shrugs**

My advice for Charity West. This story is enough, don't be like those contemporary teen romance authors who suddenly want to release a sequel of the book eventhough there's nowhere else to go through--plotwise.

Respect my opinion and I'll respect yours,

This was a pretty cute read. My only problem with this book was that Hadley and Tyler fell in love way too quick.

Hadley is what you would call a band geek. She's studious, she follows the rules, and she loves her friends and family. She's had a crush on Tyler for years but knew they were on different levels. She has an ex-boyfriend that has pretty much turned into a stalker. She doesn't understand why he won't leave her alone since they didn't have a good relationship and he cheated on her constantly. She wants to become a music teacher and help other students.

Tyler is the captain and quarterback of the football team. He's gorgeous and extremely popular. He's been all about hooking up with different girls and having sex with them and easy. There's one girl that he has been with on and off for years, Alicia, and she's pretty crazy. She is jealous and thinks they are meant to be together. He's had his eye on Hadley for years but he knew she was a forever girl and not just one you try to hook up with. He's ready to change his life and ways and finally start a relationship with Hadley.

Wow The Boyfriend Deal is a short quick little gem of a story. I loved it! Hadley is a band geek. She is a good girl. She has an ex, Hunter, that she wants to stop bothering her. She ends up kissing the first boy she sees to ignore Hunter. That boy just happens to be Hunter, the boy she has crushed on forever. Hunter is a football player that likes to party and is a player. He has an go again off again girl, Alicia. Both of them have crazy exes that they want to get to stop bothering them. Hunter comes up with a plan that they pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend. What starts out as as deal to fake a relationship quickly becomes more. I loved that they both had crushes on each other and they are finally given the push they need to act on that.

As they start to explore their feelings for each other, their crazy exes cause problems. I was definitely surprised at the lengths that their exes went to.

This a great sweet read! I definitely recommend that you one click this one.

“I was ready to give up and throw in the towel, but then I realized, if you weren’t giving up on me then maybe I shouldn’t either.”

I am so disappointed. The characters, especially the main female character, the plot were so boring.
The beginning was actually fun. But since the second chapter it shot straight downward.

Hadley was annoying me, they avoided talking which was annoying me, the parents were annoying me, like WTF was this. Plus sending jail one of the creeps, and then the second tried to kill her, it kind of went overboard, it really was not believable as well as the consequences.

“Hadley, I know that the world just became a much scarier place for you. I get that, I really do. But if you’ll let me, I’ll help you. If you can’t manage school, I’ll come see you every day when it lets out. If you can’t go to college, I’ll help you find something you can do. As long as we’re together, I don’t care where we go.”

Yeah, sorry, but I hated it, it was awful.

Hadley and Tyler

The book was too unrealistic for me. I ended up skipping to the end.

****SPOILERS****

Tyler suddenly becomes more mature than a 30 year old male.
Hadley and Tyler became a couple in the first ten percent of the book. The rest is filler.
As a couple, they didn't have many issues.
They exchange "I love you" super early.
She gives up her virginity on their first real date.
Hemlock poisoning? Really?
She has permanent ocular nerve damage.
It takes over a week to get glasses.
He gives her a promise ring while still in high school.
Her friends don't play too much of a roll in her life.
His friends all dump him but one.
His friend sees and hears all the bad things but doesn't say anything until after the fact. Idiot.
He stops hanging out with his friends cold turkey.
He changes.

Things I didn't like so much:
1. Feelings in the relationship progressed way too quickly. Most if it occurred over 3 days! I understand the story is short, but I think writing them as old friends (so they'd have a foundation/history) who drifted apart in high school and then rekindled things would have made more sense, and a bit more validity to the rushed feelings. But they were basically strangers, so it seemed weird.
2. Alicia and her "prank" -- was it really necessary for her to go that far? I mean...seemed alike overkill! The resulting consequences also added to the drama.

I read the most ridiculous things when I'm bored lmao. I've honestly never read anything this contrived. I mean Tyler's ex tried to kill the MC with poison (just bc she's dating Tyler) but ended up half blinding her instead. I swear I burst out laughing at this, it's just hilariously ridiculous. Not to mention the "I'm in love with her, I can't imagine a day in my life without her" after twenty pages. Although that wasn't hilariously ridiculous-- it was disgusting cringe-worthy. Damn insta-love

This book went to fast, I had to reread some parts thinking I skipped a few chapter. Beside that i was okay I didn't fall in love with the characters, they were kinda bland. Then the drama from the exs was really extreme and not what I expected from this book. I had high hopes but I couldn't like it.

Well, it wasn't that bad. But at the beginning the H was contradicting himself and it was a little frustrating. And latter how it was played it didn't fit exactly. But the rest it was OK.
