Aspen is the arm candy to Omere, one of the hottest producers around. Although she loves him deeply, she knows that the fame and money have brought out the absolute worst in Omere. The lying, cheating and mind games grow to be too much for Aspen, and she decides to take charge of the situation by steering her life in a different direction. After losing the love of his life, Adonis gives up the fast life and focuses on his two-month old son, and opening his dream club. Though females are throwing themselves at the new bachelor from left to right, Adonis doesn't have time for the drama they seem to come with; until he lays eyes on Aspen. Sparks immediately fly between the two, but envy forces them apart, leaving Adonis scrambling to find his mystery woman again.
NOW I'M STUCK SO MUCH DRAMA MAN ASPEN WAKE UP SMELL THE COFFEE AND DALLAS JUST NEEDED TO THINK JANALLE WAS TRIFE ROBYN DESERVE WHAT EVER HAPPEN TO HER AND ADONIS IS THE MAN OMERE MAN LOW DOWN DIRTY DOG TO THROUGH
I started this book with some high hopes. I've read other works by this author and I went with the expectations that this would be an enjoyable read. The book was well written I do have questions about why the book would be entitled Aspen and Adonis when the majority of the book was about Aspen's indecisiveness and Omere completely lacking a faithful bone in his body. The back and forth with Aspen had me wanting to delve deeper into why she allowed herself to be treated in such a despicable manner. To be honest with you, the more she decided to take from Omere the less she went down on my chart of likability. Omere plain and simple was a little boy trapped in a man's body. It's clear that whatever happened in his childhood or even what he may have witnessed growing up left such a significant brand on him that he was completely unable or unwilling to give loyalty to the one person whose motives never had to be questioned. The level of deception that was prevalent in this book was astonishing. No one in the book possessed a loyal bone in their body with the notable exceptions of Adonis and maybe Rico. I was little confused where Dallas came from. The author didn't fully explain the depth of their relationship or the reasons that Aspen had for not fully committing to Dallas when they were together. To end a relationship over a missed bday that wasn't really missed since he was planning a trip just seemed exceedingly childish on Aspen's part. We don't know where the low self--esteem or the childish behavior stemmed from. Where was her mother when she was going through all of this? We get one glimpse of them repairing their relationship at her engagement party and then we never hear from her again. The betrayal of her best friend Janelle seemed to come out of left field. It would seem that being that this was her lowest point that she would turn to her other for womanly advice. One minute they were the "bestest" of friends and the next old girl is committing the #1 NO NO in the best friend handbook. Just not understanding. The book wasn't all bad. I loved Adonis but if truth be told Aspen, in my opinion, didn't desereve him. She just wasn't very likable and would need to really step up and redeem herself in the next segment for me to begin to have an ounce of LIKE for her. While this isn't the best book that I've read by this author it was still an okay read. I won't give up on the series because I would love to see how the characters grow and mature in part 2. So don't keep us waiting too long Ms. Jerniqua I am anxious to see if you can pull me over to the side of finding more good qualities in Aspen than bad. I look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve.
I was very disappointed after reading this book. The book is entitled "Aspen and Adonis" however the two were together for less than 15% of the entire book. And please don't misunderstand me, it wasn't as though the story still centered around the two although they weren't together. No, that wasn't the case at all. Aspen was introduced briefly, maybe 30% into the book and immediately disappeared never to be brought up again until the book was almost over. I just feel as though I was duped by the title and somewhat misled by the synopsis. I really think this book would have been a lot better, had the author set out to write maybe a 300+ page novel. Because in doing that we(the readers) would get our fill of the "main characters," Aspen and Adonis and the 180 pages that was provided, here, would have just been considered "Excellent Story Development". Just a thought. At any rate the writing was not horrible however the story did not hold enough merit for me to enjoy it after the disappointment of realizing I was not reading a story I set out to read. The editing was really good because I honestly found no mistakes and I was able to follow the flow of the story, it was just not interesting enough for me to care about the sequel. So would I recommend this book to fellow readers? No. Would I read this book again? No.
This review is from: Aspen and Adonis: An Urban Love Tale (Kindle Edition)
Drama, drama, and more drama. This book is drama at it's best. From the very first page I was drawn into the madness of Aspens world. She just couldn't catch a break when it came to men. Omere made me ant to choke him out on several occasions, and let's not forget about Dallas and her so called best friend Janelle. I hope that they get what's coming to them. I'm so glad that Adonis came into her life, and I can't wait to see where things go in part 2.
The book should have been called Omere and Aspen. Chapter 28 of 32 is when Adonis and Aspen came together. Then we barely got information on how they went from friends to a couple. It is important to know about the pain and betrayal Aspen went through but really it was too much. It took 28 chapters to get to the title of the book Aspen & Adonis...wasted time. Then in the last chapter it really went down hill. Dallas went crazy? And Omere found a heart?...very disappointed...
This book was to drawn out. It was an okay read. Aspen hopefully she got Omere out of her system cause he keeps doing her wrong. I never wished any ill will towards characters in books but Janelle, Robyn, Omere, and Dallas get killed I wouldn't shed a tear. Aspen your to good for them let Adonis show you how a Queen is supposed to be treated.
This is the first book that I've read this year that made me want to snap the lead character neck! I tried to be patient with O but the knot head just wouldn't do right. With friends like Janalle you can't afford enemies that shady slut bucket. I'm just happy that Adonis finally showed up so I can't wait for part 2.
