Sarah Vance-Tompkins was born in a small town in northern Michigan. She spent every summer exploring the sugar sand beaches near Sleeping Bear National Park. She left her heart behind when she moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California. She received an MFA in Film Production and went on to work in feature film development in Hollywood. She has worked as a reporter for a weekly entertainment trade publication, and been paid to write obituaries, press releases, the directions for use on personal lubricant bottles, and breathless descriptions of engagement rings for an online jewelry store. I love YA romance done well. But this one... well it isn't as well done as I would want it, it's more medium-rare.... (yeah, I make bad meat-related puns sometimes). The plot, the whole story seems interesting when you read the blurb. But it doesn't deliver as much as it promises. The characters are fine, but the whole time I felt like everything was developed in a very childish manner. And the vocabulary used is a stereotype, which annoyed me most, teenagers don't talk like that. The atmosphere the book it carries make you think you're actually reading fanfiction. At least it did to me. Overall, it's a cute and fast romance read, it'll give you some 'feels' (*pats myself on the shoulder for a smartly added teen vocab stereotype*), but that is about it. If you read it or not, it's up to you. All I'm gonna say is that it could've been far better.
I received this book free in an exchange for an honest review
This book was a short good read (see what I did there with the 'good read'?? Awesome, right? I know!;)
Both Hannah and Theo were very relatable, I feel like sometimes we forget that famous people and celebs are people too. It was a good reminder to see them as people with fears and insecurities just like anyone. Hannah is a shy, timid, introvert who avoids any unnecessary contact with any human, she loves to blend in which is quite ironic since she is studying drama and drama is all about being in the limelight. She is just like any other teen who faces insecurities and self doubt about her ambitions and what she wants to do with her life. Theo, just like Hannah is also insecure, geeky, polite and fun loving lyricist. I love how despite being a huge pop sensation he is still pretty much grounded who doubts himself now and again. I loved how Sarah made things light and pure between them, but most of all, I liked how Hannah despite wanting to tell lies (and she does) owns up to her mistakes and tries to be very honest, it is very hard for someone to confess their mistake to someone. That was a very brave thing for her to do. Theo is just a delight to read and puts every guy to shame, we need more guys like Theo in this world. I want my 'frog' now *cries insanely*
Majority of the scenes are at the airport, I feel like both Hannah and Theo have just spent their entire lives there. But it was something different, the scenes weren't love at first sight or a guy trying to coax a girl in to her panties. It was something simple and pure and I LOVED that. I am a little disappointed that it was a short book, I was hoping there was more.
I also liked how they portrayed the step dad in a positive light, Jeffrey is a real sweetheart who deserves happiness in his life. I feel this is stretched out too much sometimes, hey not every step dad is the worst enemy.
The Story of “Kisses on a Paper Airplane” by Sarah Vance-Tompkins is a sweet one. The romantic kind of story that every teenager … nope let’s be honest – that every girl AND woman dreams of.
We do not really get to know Theo that well even if the story is told from both sides the reader has to work with the public view of him that Hannah is conveying to the reader.
Hannah on the other hand is in her own mind a lot and thinking quite loud.
There are some interesting dialogues between them and having been a fan of a British actor for some years now I (and I guess many fans too) can totally relate to some stuff that is said and recited in the book.
Usually I would say the story unfortunately suffers from the short story-disease. Having trouble finding the right balance of background and depth. But something in the transient setting of the airports helps to fill that gap. A reader will not expect anything permanent in a setting like an airport so even any conversation with depth will already exceed those expectations – great move actually to place it like this.
I would have introduced the story with a different Blurb, meaning from a different angle but that is my personal taste. This story could be an easy earned 4 star read (again for the 5th star you need to trigger specific reactions from me that I did not have and cannot control – like crying or laughing fits)
But the writing style of the author is not a developed or not as fitting to the story as I would have liked as a reader so its more like a 3.5 stars – but as Goodreads and other rating systems will not allow that – I will leave it with the 4 stars.
I loved this little corner of romantic guilty pleasure! It did feel a bit rushed and I wanted more story which was why I gave it a 4 star review. It hit the spot and kicked me right in the feels!
Kisses On A Paper Airplane was a fun, quirky, sweet romp. I loved the humor and how the characters were flawed. A quick Cinderella story that left me wanting more.
I received this copy from YA Bound Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. Let's go :D
The Story
Theo Callahan is a teen pop star that is really trying to stay away from romance after what happened with his former girlfriend, supermodel Olivia. But a random meeting with a girl at London’s airport starts to change things for him. For the first time in years Theo was just T, the geeky awkward boy, not Theo the hot star. Theo liked that and hoped he could get away with his scheme just long enough to know more about the sweet girl that hated flying.
Hannah Evans is one of those girls that idealized her first kiss in the minimal details… A long time ago. At eighteen, she still hasn’t seen any kind of boy action and kept plotting and dreaming about Prince Charming, ignoring the jokes of her best friend Julia on the matter. And her idea of a first kiss certainly didn’t involve an airport, a cute ginger haired boy and lots of jet lag at all. No matter how hot and adorable T was, Hannah had more urgent matters to think about, like her mom’s sudden wedding that she’d be attending to, meeting her future stepfather and her audition results at Drama school.
Hannah and T didn’t even know each other for Hannah to feel so many “feels” for him… But what if he was exactly the right one? That one? Hannah swore she’d have her first kiss as she expected it and if she would have to wait a thousand years, then so be it. But what if the time had arrived before the expected?
The Analysis Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader :)
This book was lovely and cute. I was happy to see that Sarah didn’t wasted pages to make the story happen and, at the same time, managed to create something so special. I can’t say that this book is a piece of art by any means, as it is firmly YA and not in the best of senses, but it served me right in the moment and warmed my heart. Despite having some problems with it, I still think that Kisses on a Paper Airplane deserves my rating of five stars :)
The narrative was first person with switching points of view between Hannah and Theo. I was less than impressed with Hannah, but she could have been worse and she grows a lot during the book – another awesome achievement on Tompkins’ part, as the book’s adventure last only a couple of days. I’d be more skeptical if I hadn’t already experienced for myself what a single chance meeting can do for our consciousness, haha!
The plot was simple and well executed. There isn’t any depth to Kisses on a Paper Airplane happenings, as it is all casual and everyday life, but it managed to be touching by keeping it simple. Tompkins writing style helped this case a lot, as she writes in a fluid and simple way that makes the reader fly through her words, needing to know how Hannah and Theo’s encounter shall unfold for both parties. The only thing that made me roll my eyes a little in this regarding was the excessive use of market brands. Like Nars make up, a Nike tennis and so on. It’s nice to include a dear brand here and there, but it got old fast :/ On the other hand, I liked the playlist that you can hunt through these pages, haha! I took notes of all the songs mentioned and will spend some time at Youtube and Spotfy to meet the ones I don’t know :)
The characters were my biggest issue, especially Hannah. When the book started, I would cut my right arm, swearing that Hannah was 15 or 16 thanks to her behavior patterns and nonsense. I almost fell off my couch to read she was actually 18 and in college =O I really think we had a several case of delusion here regarding ages. The same happened with Theo, but in the other way around. I’m almost sure he’s in his 20’s and he acted like a dude that’s reaching 30 and wants to settle. Seriously, nothing wrong with wanting lasting relationships, but let’s all just calm down, right? Haha.
For what I liked: their connection was instant, but it wasn’t intalove. Hannah was attracted by Theo – he is a pretty boy, we can’t blame her – and Theo thinks Hannah interesting and attractive. They start bounding at the airport and not at once in this mess I felt they were in love and that was awesome, haha! I’m so tired of love at first sight and instalove in YA that I actually wanted to high-five Tompkins for the touch and careful wording, haha!
Overall, I think this was a nice romance – not perfect by any means, as I still don’t know why there is a “paper” on the book title, for example – but it was exactly what I seemed to need. If you like contemporary, YA, cute and quick reads, you should give this book a go :)
Thanks for reading and thanks again to YA Bound Book Tours for my review copy!
I was given a copy of this book for free through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
2.5 stars.
It's short and sweet, but it wasn't particularly spectacular to me. If you like Jennifer E. Smith's books, then you might like this one. It has kind of the same feel. It was similar to The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, but I like that one slightly more.
I don't feel like I got to know the characters very well, to be honest. There are a few flashbacks of Hannah's prior to the current events in the book (things like being asked to prom, conversations with a teacher at RADA, receiving her acceptance letter, etc.), but I didn't feel like they necessarily fit or made me know her better. It was also a bit confusing because they were written in the same tense as the rest of the book--it was all strictly first person, past tense.
Theo was cute, but again, I don't feel like I got to know him particularly well. However, considering that he had significantly less narration, I suppose his parts were more effective at fleshing out his character. (How old is he, though? I had no idea.) He felt very down to earth.
Hannah was all right. She was somewhat believable, but at times she acted a little to much like a tween girl. She spoke in text abbreviations ("totes," "OMG," etc.), which was super annoying. Her constant talk about her hasn't-happened-yet first kiss and kissing frogs got kind of old. I was disappointed in her when And prior to that, I was frustrated that she
The chapters were labeled by location, which was kind of fun. However, it would have been helpful for Hannah's and Theo's parts to be labeled by person. It threw me the first time it switched from Hannah to Theo because suddenly the narrator was talking about Hannah. There was no consistent way to determine who was speaking except by what he or she was saying. Only a few chapters had Theo's perspective in them, and they were just small parts separated from the rest by an extra space and a couple of big dots in the center. Which, by the way, was the exact same thing separating some of Hannah's parts from each other. So you see, it was a bit confusing.
It could have used a bit more editing (perhaps the final printing of the book will have it). Nothing major--just a few missing words and errant punctuation.
Like I said, though, it's a cute, fun story. A friend of mine would call this a "cotton candy read."
One of my favourite themes to read about and one that I certainly am a sucker for is the Cinderella type stories where your ordinary plain Jane meets a handsome guy and they can fall in love or even have a "moment" , a just for now instead of a HEA. One that can be story that they will reflect on in the future. Kisses on a Paper Airplane was one of those books. Hannah is flying back home for her mother's impromptu wedding and is travelling in luxury from London to New York as her new stepdad -to-be has brought her a first class ticket. When her first flight is delayed, Hannah ends up in the first class lounge where she meets a handsome guy named "T". She has no idea who he is at this point and he likes that , and they strike up a friendship. This friendship carries them throughout the different airports and stops and the pair almost have their first kiss as she now knows who he is and can't believe that he is liking her -when he could have anyone in the world. Their happiness is cut short while at the Chicago airport , when photos of them on the plane are leaked and he blames Hannah. He goes one way, feeling hurt and betrayed and she goes the other way having her heart broken by a guy she just met and also feeling betrayed towards her friend Julia for selling her out. While back home in Wisconsin , Hannah is getting ready for her mum's wedding to her new stepdad and thinking of her almost-kiss with Prince Charming . Will Hannah have to settle for her first kiss to be with a Frog or will T surprise her when he turns up in Wisconsin ? Kisses on a Paper Airplane was one of those YA feel-good stories where it shows that even little and simple "moments" can leave a long-lasting impact on one's life and that sometimes having higher standards can lead to something good and that it doesn't necessarily mean you have to miss out. Kisses on a Paper Airplane was a quick read and one that if you love Jennifer E. Smith's titles on Insta-Friendship and Love , then you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
Hannah is a nineteen year old drama student studying abroad at RADA, the premiere acting school in London, returning home to Wisconsin to attend her widowed mother’s whirlwind wedding. She’s not only innocent–never even been kissed–she’s terrified of flying. The First Class ticket is a godsend from her new step-father-to-be, but Hannah’s panic overcomes her in the lounge where she’s sent when the flight is delayed.
She faints, and is rescued by a sweet, ginger-haired boy who calls himself T. T coddles Hannah, and helps her get settled on the flight–which they share. He’s had a big heartbreak recently, and adores the way Hannah just looks at him, and speaks to him like any normal person–which is rather novel and charming. T happens to be Theo Callahan, a guitarist and songwriter from a well-known boy band.
Hannah thinks that sweet T might be the ‘prince’ with whom she’s been longing to share her first kiss, but she soon discovers his true identity and gets way gun-shy. Theo won’t let her escape without a bit of romance, however, and that’s when things get totally messed up.
This is a sweet, short, read with all the appropriate moments of tension. I liked it a lot, and would recommend it to readers who like a squeaky-clean teen romance. Because it’s a rock/boy-band romance you can expect the usual crushes of fans, leaks of personal information, and a giant misunderstanding. What was different was the sweetness of the relationship between mother and daughter, the tender affection of the groom, and one ridiculous dress. While I never understood Hannah’s fascination with kissing in the rain, her first kiss definitely arrives in spectacular fashion.
Kisses on a Paper Airplane is a quick, simple read, but I honestly did not enjoy it.
Hannah Evans is travelling home to attend her mother's wedding. Her step-father-to-be got her a first class ticket from London, and during her time in the first-class lounge, she catches the interest of a good looking pop star AND FAINTS BECAUSE HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL. There's instalove and there's over dramatic. How many people do you know see a good looking person and pass out. Like, I'm sorry, what?
Once conscious, she captures Theo's heart and they get massages together, they sit with each other on the plane, and then become besties on the verge of an instalove relationship during the like three days of travel and 5 minutes of her mother's wedding.
On top of the absolutely unbelievable story line, she talks like a fourteen year old. She's in college/university now, and she keeps talking about "the one" and saying like "is he my frog prince?" "Maybe I have to kiss a bunch of frogs to get my frog prince." I don't know if this book was supposed to be a kind of retelling of the Princess and the Frog, but it was so overplayed and the language was trying way too hard to be "relevant" and "cutesy".
Overall, probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone, unless you like fluff language and instalove...
*This book was received via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*
This was a really enjoyable and cute romance set against the backdrop of multiples flights, airports and a wedding. I loved the main characters Hannah and Theo as they were life-like and flawed just like all the rest of us. I really respected Hannah as after receiving harsh criticism from a teacher she didn't let it destroy her but instead embraced it. I also liked the fact that the author portrayed Theo not as a stuck-up and arrogant pop star but a slightly geeky, heart broken normal boy who just wants someone he can trust and love. The setting of the book, across multiple airports, planes and a wedding, helped to drive the plot and added to the romance of the book lending hope to us that love can be found when we least expect. Not just any kind of love though. The kind that mends, builds, heals and conquers all. Overall, this was a cute and enjoyable romance with honest and real characters, an interesting setting and a great plot. I was left feeling warm and fuzzy all-over, hoping I would find my Prince Charming like Hannah.
Sarah Vance-Tompkins is a unique and relatively new voice on the contemporary romance scene, and one well worth following. Her characters are complex and real - so real you'll feel you know them - or you were them, back in the day.
This is a book about firsts and learning to embrace the changes in your life. Told with the touch of humor I've come to expect from this author, this sweet first kiss story will remind you of the wonder of falling in love and leave you smiling and wishing your first kiss had been this wonderful.
I give Kisses On a Paper Airplane five stars, and can't wait to see what Vance-Tompkins has in store for me next!
Airports become romantic and enlivening in KISSES ON A PAPER AIRPLANE. A hunky rock star, a quirky girl, and a first-class encounter create a layover that will make any starry-eyed reader jealous.
The story reads as fast as a connecting flight and, when you reach the final page destination, you'll find a smile on your face. No jet lag here.
OMG, what took me so long to finally pick this up?! I’ve had this eARC on my kindle for ages, as in, since August, but I haven’t had the time or the mood to pick it up. But because I’ve vowed to be better at reading my galleys this year, and my goal is to read my backlogged ARCs from Netgalley, I decided to start this one, and it was a great decision.
This is a very short book, VERY VERY SHORT, and that was my main complaint about it, because I needed more. Because the writing was absolutely fabulous. Sarah Vance-Tompkins tells this book through the POVs of both Hannah and Theo, though Theo’s are few and far between, and they are on the first person! The narration is so funny and clever. I was laughing the whole time.
The story was so cute and sweet! I was rooting for Hannah and Theo to kiss already, because they were just so adorable together. The characters are not 100% fleshed out, because, again, this is a super short book, but enough of their personalities and issues are dealt with. I really like how Theo helped Hannah to look at what she had a little differently and value life a little more. Hannah, in turn, showed Theo that it was ok to trust again and let go.
Obviously this is a case of instant attraction, but these two spend 2 days through 3 airports together, and end up talking about pretty important things for both of them, so the story made sense to me, even if a little too perfect. Speaking of which, I want a 1st class airport lounge like the one described in the book…
Guys, if you’re looking for a fast, small and super cute contemporary romance read, give Kisses on a Paper Airplane a chance.
If you love pure escapist pleasure in under 150 pages then Kisses on Paper Airplanes by Sarah Vance-Tompkins is for you.
I absolutely adored it.
Kisses on Paper Airplanes has everything that a romantic short should have. In fact, I think any of us who love reading romance can honestly say that we have had this fantasy. You know the one, girl meets boy, boy and girl flirt and fall for each other, girl doesn’t realise straight away that they boy is famous. I can honestly say I have had that fantasy so many times featuring Pete Wentz, Matt Willis, David Tennant. But I digress.
Kisses on Paper Airplanes is such a simple concept but that is why it works. Furthermore, Sarah Vance-Tompkins genuinely makes you care for her characters. Even though it is a short story we are not short changed on detail, exposition or drama. She gives it all and then some. My one negative is that I wanted more.
Well done Sarah Vance-Tomkins!

Airports can be romantic, right? Sure, if it's on TV, if it's in a movie, or if it's the plot of a book. Falling in love in an airport is a cute fantasy and this book delivered on that.
The story was simple and fast paced. The events were delivered in a smooth manner that made sense to the plot of the story. We had Hannah and Theo that were accidentally following each other's itineraries. The description of the first class lounge, first class versus coach in the airplane, and the madness that people exhibit over celebrities were well described. The latter made me feel anxious for Theo and made me realize how much it sucks for famous people to try to do normal things but get easily recognized by the public.
Next, we had our two love birds: Hannah and Theo. They were not well rounded characters but there was enough of a description to know the type of people they were. We had a farm girl from Milwaukee who falls for a pop star. Usually the "Cinderella" type story would have me rolling my eyes, but here it worked for me. These two falling in love had me sighing and had me reminiscing my teenage years where I day-dreamed that one day a celeb would sweep me off my feet.
As a whole, this was a very a short, fast paced book. The plot may be far fetched but sometimes one needs to read a cutesy story to forget reality.
I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
A quick read about two people who find each other when they least expect it. Hannah is headed home from London to her moms wedding. Theo is heading to the states after a public breakup with his girlfriend and band mates. When Hannah meets Theo she faints and from there things begin to blossom. A quick page turner, but with very little character development.
Short, sweet, satisfying. Not a new plot idea, but well done here. Shy, quiet, but very likable girl meets hot, hurting singer on her way home from a tryout for the London theater. She doesn't recognize him until after the chemistry starts, but when she does, her impulsive act sets in motion misunderstanding. Great book for romance lovers.
I read this book for the 52 books in 52 weeks reading challege. I used the summer reading challenge prompt read a book with an airplaine on the cover. It was a nice light beach read. Easy and entertaining.
This was such a cute and fun read. I knew it was short and that usually scares me with books. When a book is under 100 pages it usually doesn't get any good character depth and the book feels rushed. That was not the case here.
I love Theo. He seems like such a misunderstood nerdy guy that is in a spotlight anyway. His character sucked me in right away and made me want more and more of him as the story progressed. He is definitely on my book boyfriend list!
Hannah is a sweetheart. She reminds me a lot of myself though I am too antisocial to ever want to be an actress. She stays true to what she wants as a first kiss and refuses to let even her best friend talk her into kissing a bunch of frogs. I love that about her. She doesn't change for anyone and it has made her a believable and true character.
This book is mainly set in between flights at airports, but you do see some at Hannah's hometown and on the planes as well. It was easy to picture it all and I know the feeling of the fear of flying oh so well.
The emotions and thoughts of the characters are very prominent through the story and it makes it even more enjoyable. The book alternates between Theo and Hannah. It is done at the perfect times to really get a good grasp of both of the characters.
The author made a wonderful story that makes me already want to re-read it and experience these two all over again! Everyone needs to run and get this book right now and devour it for all the goodness it has!

KISSES ON PAPER AIRPLANE is a kind of love story that every girl wishes that she could have, meeting a cute, nice boy that you end up falling for. A type of boy that any girl would love to have, I know that I would had. I have come across this novel while I was on Netgalley, and honestly it was the title and the cover that had grabbed my attention first and had me curious about it. KISSES ON PAPER AIRPLANE How can that not grab your attention and have you wonder if there is meaning behind it, and why paper airplane? Those were the thoughts that have ran through my mind. Once I read the story it made sense to me. I felt like both Hannah’s relationship with Theo was in a way like a paper airplane that could fall apart at any moment.
I got admit that you can’t help but love the realthionship between Theo and Hannah, even though if it seemed like a fairytale. I did feel like the two of them fell from each other pretty fast Despite that you could tell that there was connection between the two of them from the minute that the two of them met. You could tell by the way that the two of them talked to each other, looked at each other. Also how Theo switched from first class just so he could be with her, because he knew how nervous flying made her. Why else would he done that unless there was something there between the two of them. Something special. When things had fallen apart, I was rooting for things between the two of them to work out, I wanted for them to work out.
I did feel like a book was a bit short. I wanted, no I needed to see what happened with them next. What would be next for Hannah and Theo. I did feel like the book started a bit slow for me but it picked up fast after that. To the point where I was on the edge of my seat till I reached the end of the book. I refused to put the book down. Of course once I reached the end, I was sad for it to come to the end. It was a sweet short book about love, first kisses. I always found myself smiling between interaction between Hannah and Theo. A novel that is worth picking up and checking out.

Kisses on a Paper Airplane was quite a fast read weighing in at around 146 pages, but I assure you that despite its tiny size, every single page is packed with loads of cuteness!
When I saw this book on Netgalley, the gorgeous cover and intriguing synopsis screamed my name, so I knew I had to request it. I just knew it would be awesome, and I was right!
To sum up, this story is basically about 18-year old Hannah, who really wants her first kiss to be perfect. Rather than taking on any chance she could to kiss someone, she has decided to wait until the right boy winds the corner into her life.
Her mom is getting re-married in Chicago, so Hannah is in the airport waiting to get on the plane there, when she stumbles across Theo. Something is vaguely familiar about him, but Hannah shakes it off because she just knows he is 'The One.' It turns out that it was because Theo is a very famous pop star, but nevertheless, he bonds very well with Hannah. But time is still ticking away... will Theo get to be Hannah's first kiss, or will she have to end up kissing someone else?
I really liked Hannah's character, as she seemed to be pretty open-minded, determined, and accepting. I liked that even though she may have had limited time to get to know Theo, and that he was a pop star which intimidated her a bit, she still made a ton of effort to bond and make sure she stood out to him, especially since he was just getting over another break-up.
Theo was a great guy, too! I know how often celebrities seem to think they're too 'cool' to make lasting bonds with their fans, but he was pretty much the exception to that 'rule.' He was just soooooo caring, and he was definitely unlike a stereotypical pop star, that's for sure! In other words, I LOVED him <3. New book crush pour moi! :) <3
Hannah and Theo were absolutely perfect for each other, and I was able to see that very clearly. I ship them for sure! I'm just not such a huge fan of the insta-love...
Can I just say how awesome the ending was? I don't say this a lot, as I'm very picky with my books' endings. I really don't want to spoil what happened, though, so what I am going to tell you is that you should totally read this book, and see for yourself what I'm talking about.
Overall, if you are a tween/teen who enjoys cute, fast-paced books with simple writing, then this is the one for you. I raced through it in under 30 minutes, so if you are in a reading slump or just want something quick to read, I would definitely recommend Kisses on a Paper Airplane. The characters and the storyline were too good to be true, and I just know that you'll agree!
First of all, let me start by saying how much I like this cover and the title. Together they definitely do their job: call readers to pick up the book and give it a chance.
“Kisses on a Paper Airplane” is the short story of Hannah Evans, a drama student who’s been living in England for the past few months and is now returning home after her mother surprises her by announcing she’s getting married. Needless to say, Hannah isn’t too thrilled about that idea, but she decides to be there for her mother. She flies home to meet the man who’s marrying her mom only months after meeting her.
Her soon-to-be stepfather seems to want to make a good impression because he buys Hannah first class tickets for her international flight. Either that or he’s trying to buy her affection – I couldn’t tell at first, and neither could Hannah, because she didn't know the guy.
While in first class lounge, Hannah meets the boy. At first, she doesn’t realize the cute and funny boy who comes to talk to her is pop star Theo Callahan. Either way, she’s hypnotized by him at first sight.
Theo seems to be everything Hannah wants in the boy who’ll finally give her the first kiss she’s been dreaming of. Yep, Hannah has never kissed anyone because she wanted it to be special. She didn’t want it to be with just any guy, but one who mattered. Cute, huh? So now all Hannah has to do is make sure by the end of the trip she gets kissed for the first time in her life by Theo.
Like I said, cute and short.
I’ve always liked stories about celebrities falling in love with “normal” people. While we didn’t have much time to get to know Hannah and Theo, the fact that we had alternating POVs helped us get a better sense of who these characters were and what they felt. Sure I wished the author had chosen to develop them fully, which would require a lot more pages and chapters, but I guess that wouldn’t work with the concept – an airport romance.
While Hannah sounded a bit young for her age, Theo felt like a more mature character. Maybe that’s a result of his experiences as someone who has seen a lot of the world while touring.
The romance was sweet and resulted in a happy ending, which is what I expected from it.
Overall, “Kisses on a Paper Airplane” is a quick and fun read.
Hannah is a student at a drama school in London. She gets a call from her mother that is getting married to a man that she just met and needs her to fly home. Hannah hates flying, but her new stepfather upgrades her to first class for her flight from London to New York. At the airport her flight gets delayed so she goes to the first class lounge to relax and happens upon a strange guy who she finds attractive and then she passes out.
This is a super short story that is told from the perspective of Hannah and Theo. I love that we get to see both of their perspectives because it shows they both felt love at first sight. Hannah didn't initially realize that Theo was a famous musician, but eventually realizes who he is. Theo was just getting out of a long term relationship that ended in a large amount of drama and heartache. The major detail is that Hannah has never kissed a guy before she was waiting for her prince charming and she thinks she might have found him in Theo. Theo isn't really looking for anything at the moment it seems, but once he sees Hannah things change.
The author did a great job developing both Hannah and Theo as characters. We got just enough back story from them to see where they are at in their lives and also what lead them to be together. I think the major thing they have in common is that they both are unsure about love. Hannah has never really met someone she connected with and wanted to experience a kiss with. Theo on the other had has come out of a broken relationship. They are able to easily open up and talk to one another, which is great to meet someone and have an instant connection and are able to openly communicate with.
I wish there will be a sequel for these two because I would love to read what happens next with Hannah and Theo. I felt like I needed more as a reader.
I would suggest reading this book when you want a cute romance to perk you up. It is a short read and easy to be able to do in one sitting. I received a copy of this book from YA Bound Book Tours for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of this book.
The book's setting reminded me of Jennifer Smith's The Statistical Probablity of Love at First Sight. Two strangers, meeting in the airport, what are the chances that they'd have a connection?
Hannah is yet to find a prince that will give her THE FIRST KISS she had been waiting for, and she's off to see her mom wed to a guy she barely even know, while waiting for the results of her audition. It was supposed to be a stressful flight with everything on her plate and the fact that she hated flying, good thing she meets T.
Theo Callahan is a super star, he is off to get a break after the betrayal brought about by his bestfriend and his supermodel girlfriend. What she didn't expect was to come across the innocent Hannah, who didn't seem to recognize him.
Theo likes Hannah, but can he trust her?
It's a short, sweet, clean and a totally refreshing read!

This was a romantic quick read. It was fun and every teenage girls dream. The characters were easy to read and the story was light with only a little drama.
Hannah is a drama student who is on her way home to attend her mothers wedding to a man she has yet to meet. Based on the first class flight ticket she has bought for her by her soon to be step-dad she is unsure of his intentions.
Theo is a celeb who is trying to stay on the down low after his recent heartbreak. Just out of a long term relationship he definitely wont be looking for love any time soon.
When the flight is delayed, Hannah goes into panic mode and passes out. Only to come round and find herself in the arms of Theo. Now she may be innocent and waiting for the perfect boy to share her first kiss with but she isn't blind and Theo has her heart skipping beats.
She doesn't initially realise who he is and Theo is captured by Hannah, he is taken with the way she doesn't expect anything from him and sees him for who he really is. Hannah knows that Theo is the one she has been waiting for but when she finally realises who this prince charming is she starts to withdraw. Theo isn't going to let that happen though. He has finally found a girl that looks at him in that special way and he will go to great lengths to not let her get away.
Hannah, our hesitant heroine, was an endearing character, and I liked that her insecurities weren't overdone. She was also a character that I could very much relate to, having waffled a bit over my own first kiss (eventually also happening at 18, my ultimately getting my movie-worthy first kiss, though not as epic as Hannah's!). The "It's just a kiss, right? I should just get it over with" and the "But why can't it be SPECIAL and memorable?" is something I think us idealist romantics have all considered at some point.
Don't get me started on Theo. Seriously, he was so adorable, and sweet, and his playfulness made him that much better. Considering he was a famous pop star and this was a novella that has lots of indulgent fantasy, it wouldn't have been the worst if he were more stereotypical, but he wasn't. I really enjoyed his character. Bonus points for the fact he was a blue-eyed ginger!
This is like a cupcake - a wonderful story with all the elements you would want, in a smaller, quicker-to-finish form. Did it leave me wanting more? Only in that one can never have too much cake! :)
I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. This is no way influenced my review. My opinion is my own.
This is a cute fluffy romance. It is yet another story of a girl who finds love with a famous person. This one takes place mostly in airports and on airplanes. Hannah is away at school in London when her mother drops the bombshell that she is getting married and wants Hannah to come to the wedding. Her soon to be stepdad splurges on a first class ticket from London to New York. Terrified of flying and not really supportive of the world wind romance that seems to have swept her mother away, she is reluctant to head home. In the first class lounge in London, she has an encounter with an attractive and slightly familiar looking guy. She is immediately smitten and wants to share her first kiss with him. She has always been opposed to kisses frogs in pursuit of her prince and has instead held out for the prince. Hannah and Theo both seem to be drawn together. When she figures out he is a famous musician and her best friends celebrity crush, she becomes a little overwhelmed. The two continue to meet up in airports on her way home to Wisconsin, having meal dates and getting to know each other. Will a misunderstanding and his fame keep her from getting her first kiss with the boy of her dreams? This book was cute. I enjoyed the characters and getting to know them on their journey. Not a lot of depth, but not every book needs it to be enjoyable.
