This audiobook had two interlinked books in it, both about members of the Lakota tribe. In these stories the author never shies away from life or living. She tells it "like it is" and at the same time makes it interesting and un-put-down able. Both are emotion evoking in that one seems to personally go through the exact emotion that is appropriate for the character at that moment. That is brilliant writing!
The first story, Spirit Journey, told about the tribe's spiritual journey which was amazingly captivating and also tells of the blossoming love between Skippy and Peanut and her daughter, Annie. He is shy and she is cute but strong and she knows a good man when she finally finds him.
The second story, Gossamer Threads, is about Joey and his deep and all-consuming love for his wife, Snow Song. It also tells about Runner and his relationship with the tribe and the community and touches on the budding relationship between Jaylin and Eric and of the relationship between Rory and Kyle.
There are a few surprises in this story and they teach us that although we can't control what other people do, we can take responsibility for our own actions.
I found both tales interesting and quite educational while being wonderfully entertained.
The narration was good with interesting voice-acting by Mary Ann Weathers.
