This is the second book in the series and I highly recommend reading Bayou Secrets first although it is not completely necessary more things will make sense.

Sam Carter is the owner of the bar The Badlands and is looking for the right woman. He thought he may have found her with Angel Helms but it wasn't to be after she met Lucas Alexander. When a woman he names "Cinderella" comes into the bar he thinks he has found her but she takes of before he can find out who she is.

Lilly Michaels has secrets that she holds close and doesn't let anyone get close to her or her son, Alex. Her sister Quynn works for Sam at The Badlands and she begins to form a friendship with Sam, that gradually evolves into more.

When it is clear that Lilly is holding something back, will Sam be able to get to the truth or will their relationship end. As Lilly's life is key to certain events that may take place Sam must decide if his pride is more important than his love for Lilly.

I enjoyed this book and found it still contained many elements from the first book - specifically magic. I understood Lilly's reluctance to get involved with Sam but it broke my heart that she kept Alex away from Sam when it was apparent how close they had become.

A great read and I'm interested to see if there will be a third book focusing on Quynn!
