I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.

I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.

After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.

Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.

Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.

One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.

I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!

I am rating the book 3 star solely because I loved the first story. Or it'd have been two.

Her Marine Prince by Heather Long 4
This is the best story of the book. The leads are strong, competent and sensible. They don't literally jump into the bed within 24 hours of meeting. They the attraction is evident, they spend time getting to know about each other. Also, I liked the training process.

Alexandre by Carole Mortimer 2.5
This one had a very bland mystery but hot scenes. Not my choice for a story.

Seducing the Princess by Susan Stephens 1.5
The characters didn't seem to connect much and the scenes were even interesting to read.

Corrupted by the Prince by Shelli Stevens 2.5
It started out well, but the ending had me disappointed. I expected a little more emotion from the characters.

His Royal Redemption by J.C. Makk/Angelique Armae 3
Mainly because I love the nieces. They were smart, sassy and adorable. The story felt a little rushed and dealing with Boris fell flat.

If you are looking for a great collection of novella length stories then this book is for you.

Heather Long continues her Going Royal series with Her Marine Prince. This short novella works as a stand-alone or as part of the series. Princess Francesca “Frankie” Grace has no interest in anything to do with her Royal heritage or title. She wants to follow in her father's footsteps and be a Royal Marine, but, unfortunately, the Royal Marines do not admit women, but the U.S. Marine Core does. To prove her mettle she must endure a "boot camp" experience with retired Marine Hugh Dillon. Can she prove her worth? Will she win her father's approval to join the Marines? How will her hopes and dreams fare against Hugh's boot camp? Will she lose her heart or her dreams?

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of reading this story. It was a great addition to the series.

The other novella's in the novel are:

This is an anthology of 5 novellas from five different authors:

HER MARINE PRINCE by Heather Long

Princess Francesca Grace wants to join the military like her father.  Her father does not want her to and arranges her to attend an exercise hosted by the Royal Marines.  He gets retired Marine Hugh Dillon to agree to make Frankie's life miserable to convince her to abandon her desires.  I did not expect much of this story, but ended up enjoying it very much.  The highlight was the great amount of respect that Hugh show Frankie as she demonstrates how determined and competent she is.  Made me interested in reading more of the series. Rating: 4 stars.

ALEXANDRE by Carole Mortimer

Prince Alexandre of Androcco comes to England.  Staying at an English hotel, he is determined to get Anastazia Carmichael who he took one look at and wanted.  Stazzi doesn't want anything to do with the annoying playboy especially because she is almost engaged to another man.  Yet she can't deny the intense attraction between Alexandre and herself.  I enjoyed this story primarily because of Stazzi's spunky personality and her interaction with Alexandre.  There is also a mystery regarding Alexandre that I quickly figured out but which I thought moved the story forward very well. These two are hot together.  Rating: 4 stars.

SEDUCING THE PRINCESS by Susan Stephens

Princess Angelika needs an heir. When she first met Gideon Black as a teenager, she hated him. And she had an immense crush on him.  Now she needs protection and an heir to secure her throne.  Gideon can provide both.  This premise had much promise, but I never felt any real connection between the hero and heroine.  The conflict felt forced and I was disappointed.  Rating: 1.5 stars.

CORRUPTED BY THE PRINCE by Shelli Stevens

Prince Kostas of Mykorini is hiding out in the Hamptons after another scandal.  When he sees a woman on the beach that interests him, he is intrigued as she argues with him and doesn't fall for his practiced lines.  Evelynn Fairchild is the sister who avoids scandal and that is why she is surprised to find herself attracted to the notorious bad boy.  This is my favorite in the collection because I liked the relationship between Kostas and Eva best.  They are funny and sweet and such a mismatch.  I think the story tries to put in just one too many complications to their relationship for the length of the story, but the connection between the couple makes this worth reading.  Rating: 4 stars.

HIS ROYAL REDEMPTION by J.C. Make

Sir Anthony Richarden and Princess Estelle of Dirksbee are competitors in the King's Favor, a competition where the winner gets five million dollars.  The two also happen to have been engaged to be married a year ago before Anthony left Estelle almost at the altar.  This was my least favorite of the anthology. I didn't buy into the reasons that the two were apart and the lack of communication between them just annoyed me.  Rating: 1 star. This review was originally posted on Top10RomanceBooks.com

Almost every child has at one point imagined themselves as royalty. In these 5 tales we learn that royals are people too and falling in love has pitfalls for them as well. Five fabulous stories by five terrifically talented authors.
Her Marine Prince by Heather Long – What happens when you are a princess and 10th in line for the throne or is that 12th? Unlike her sisters Princess Francesca “Frankie” Grace has no interest in scandal or pomp and circumstance she wants to follow in her father’s footsteps and serve as a Marine. Too get his approval and assistance in reaching her goal her father signs her up for a civilian boot camp where she meets retired Marine Hugh Dillon. They put each other through the wringer and you’ll have to read it to see who comes out on top. Marines and Royals have no better advocate than Heather Long.
Alexandre by Carole Mortimer - Prince Alexandre of Androcco is used to getting what he wants and what he wants is Anastazia Carmichael. Stazzi is outspoken and brash. She is honest and funny. She is the daughter of an impoverished Duke but Prince Alexandre doesn’t know that all he knows is he wants her. She is not like the other women he has known and the fight to get her into his bed may be the best thing he has ever done. Watching these two butt heads is a lot of fun.
Seducing the Princess by Susan Stephens – Princess Angelika aka Angel is in a very bad place. Her father the king is dying, the country is failing and her uncle is trying to kill her as she is the only heir to the throne. In steps Gideon Black. The boy she had a crush on has left to become a man and wealthy owner of a security company and just what she needs to help her secure her throne. If only her heart doesn’t get in the way. A fun coming of age story.
Corrupted by the Prince by Shelli Stevens – This is a fun yet sad story of wealth and expectations. Prince Kostas of Mykorini is “the spare” and so lives a life of a media scandal although he runs his own successful company as well. Evelynn “Eva” Fairchild is the daughter of a US Senator and the good girl among her wild child sisters. When Eva meets Kostas when he is vacationing in the Hamptons she is intrigued and interested despite knowing his reputation she believes there is more to him than meets the eye. One thing leads to another and at the ripe old age of 25 she gives the Prince her virginity only to awake abandoned and pregnant. Yep, you’ve read this story before but the reason it keeps being rewritten is it is a good one. As is this version.
His Royal Redemption by J.C. Makk - Sir Antony Richarden and his former betrothed Princess Estelle of Dirksbee are competing for the same prize. He needs it to put a roof over the heads of his three nieces’ who are depending on him. She needs it to repair the reputation shattered when he left her. But things aren’t always as they seem and the competition may be just the thing they need to figure that out.
This is a fun collection that will remind you that Royals put their pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us.

I will give this collection 4 stars overall, as there is an awful story included here. Thankfully, 3 of the 5 stories are great, so it is a worthwhile read. I have included ratings and reviews for each of the stories below.

Her Marine Prince by Heather Long – 5 Stars
Adorably satisfying. Strong MCs with a believable attraction.

Alexandre by Carole Mortimer – 3 Stars
I liked the characters well enough, but I wasn't super impressed with the author's writing style. There were times she would keep repeating the same thoughts again and again. Another thing that bothered me was love and marriage proposals after 3 days?? Give me a break. These characters lost their minds with lust, which in no way shape or form equates with love. The big bad was soo obvious and the friends were cantankerous with each other with no reason given as to why. Not a super impressive read.

Seducing the Princess by Susan Stephens – 1 Star
Absolutely horrible. The story goes on and on and on without anything happening. All this internal talk about lust and attraction with no plot to back it up. The author loves to drag on some scenes and then skip whole actions later without any description. The MCs have absolutely no chemistry. I can't even see that they even really like each other. The h acts childish and ridiculously naïve to the ways of the world, although she is to be a queen. The H is a cold bastard who acts more like the h's father than a potential suitor. The story is all over the place. I would quit reading out of sheer boredom, but I'm perversely curious of how the author plans to save this sinking ship....

Corrupted by the Prince by Shelli Stevens – 4 Stars
Surprisingly likable. I'll admit I rolled my eyes at the cliché blurb (playboy male and virgin female), and I was prepared for a boring, predictable story. While it was still predictable, I enjoyed the characters and the interactions of the story overall.

His Royal Redemption by J.C. Makk – 4 Stars
A good story overall. I loved Sir Antony and I liked Estelle well enough. She has a good heart, but she sure is dumb at times. I appreciated the adventure, but the ending felt abrupt. I would have liked an epilogue or something more.

I received a copy of this anthology in exchange for an honest review. There was so much more to this anthology than I had originally thought – in a very good way! In Her Marine Prince, my heart broke for Hugh Dillon and his life circumstances. When he meets “Frankie” (you will have to read it to get the quotation marks!), his life just takes on new meaning. And for Frankie, too! Great story that will tug some serious heartstrings. In Alexandre – it was hawt stuff! There was much intrigue but you’ll have to read it – no spoilers from me! Alexandre and Stazzi are so good together but they go back and forth as they each deal with life and their family battles. Really liked it! Seducing the Princess was interesting – when a blurb tells me that a guy starts out need to protect a future queen, but he is also going to get her pregnant…well, c’mon! How can you NOT read it? In Corrupted By the Prince, Prince Kostas and Evelyn (Eva) Fairchild have a good story to tell. Fast read, but I liked it. In His Royal Redemption, Sir Antony Richarden and Princess Estelle of Dirksbee have to win a competition, against each other, in order to each accomplish a major milestone in each of their lives. Good people, in tough places in their lives, with an HEA. What more could you want?

Her Marine Prince by Heather Long 5 Stars 4/1/2016
Making her own way
Princess Francesca “Frankie” Grace wants to join the military to follow in her father’s footsteps. The only problem is that the Royal Marines don’t allow women to join. So her second option is to join the US Marines. Her father sends her to an old military acquaintance who runs a “Vacation Boot Camp” to help her to see if this is what she really wants. If she makes it though the camp, her father will talk to Armand who is the head of the family as well to her mother. But upon meeting the camp owner “Retired Marine Hugh Dillon” she finds her attraction to him is off the charts, but she is determined to make it through the camp.
I’ve read this book in the Royal & Rogues book set and this book alone make the set worth getting. Well written and very entertaining to read.

Alexandre by Carole Mortimer

Seducing the Princess by Susan Stephens

Corrupted by the Prince by Shelli Stevens

His Royal Redemption by J.C. Make
