Readers’ Comments
‘I liked the premise very much, of a boy evacuated into the space. The adventure is also, for the most part, fast-paced and interesting. The author’s descriptive work is not as good as her character and speech work. But, all in all, a well-planned adventure story that many children will undoubtedly enjoy.’ Teacher, aged 43
‘The central character, Matthew, is fun and seems never to give up. He’s determined to change things. I like strong characters.’ Boy, age 12
‘There’s lots of conflict and problems to battle but there’s also a good moral to the story.’ Girl, aged 11
‘The beginning is really good. I liked how the author worked climate change into the story. We have looked at this in school, in geography, at how the temperature of the world is going up. It’s sort of scary. Maybe this story will eventually happen if nobody puts a stop to it. It made me think anyway, so that’s a good thing. I also liked the twist at the end. I think this is a good start to a set of books.’ Boy, aged 12
‘Slow to get going but then I loved it.’ Girl, aged 11
‘I didn’t like the title and the cover is a bit boring. But when I read it, I enjoyed it. It’s slow in parts but the ending was really, really good.’ Boy, aged 11

‘A fun adventure with a powerful underlying theme. A Red Ribbon winner and highly recommended.’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
