The Sinful Duet #1

Into Temptation

Rate this book
I'm not a good Catholic girl.

A good Catholic girl would never use church on Sunday's to lust over the Father's son.

A good Catholic girl would never pulse between her thighs and lose her breath over the boy who recites the closing prayer - even if his voice is low and sinful enough to make her toes curl in her shoes.

A good Catholic girl would never allow herself to be lead into temptation by dirty, blond hair and dark eyes...

And a good Catholic girl would never use bible study as an excuse to be used and abused.

But, like I said, I'm not a good Catholic girl...

And he's FAR from a good Catholic boy.
Caleb Andrews is everything I don't need, but he's everything I want...

God help me.

*WARNING* Into Temptation contains occasional dark content. It is not suitable for those who are sensitive to strong language, self-harm, drug use, and dislike the mixing of erotica and religion..

Written in Cassia's and Caleb's POV which I LOVE

OMG this is NOTHING like I expected, this is *fans face* VERY VERY HOT!! The things that race through their minds are definitely sinful..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

All I can think about is the father's son, I'm going straight to hell. Perhaps he's not a good catholic boy like I'm not a good catholic girl.

I can’t exist in this state any longer. The pent up arousal is killing me. I saw a nice tree with a decent sized hole in it on the way to church this morning and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t turn me on. God, that’s so fucked up. ~ Caleb

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Lord have fucking mercy...give me the strength to resist the temptation her sinful body arouses in me...or I’m going to bend her over the breakfast table and eat her for breakfast—in front of her mother, too. Amen.

It was purely sexual in the beginning. All I wanted to do was stuff her with my dick and maybe a rosary bead or two, but now I don't mind the thought of spending as much time as I can spare with her.

Her parents have carrots so far up their asses they can't see the light of day, it's like they live in the dark ages, the twenty first century, she's slept with one young guy but they make it seem like she's promiscuous and is all around town bed hopping..They have control over every aspect of her life..I wanted so badly to jump in the book and bitch slap the parents from here to Sunday..Gah they made me mad lol

Boys like Caleb have never been my type. The arrogance, the cockiness, the mindset of the world revolving around them, it’s too much for me, but Caleb...he has me hook, line, and sinker.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Caleb has no qualms going after what he wants, his alpha domineering, seductive, sinful ways will definitely have you panting, breathless, begging for more..He's hot, aggressive, forceful, unforgiving, cocky, arrogant, too much maleness wrapped up in a preachers son..
He pushes the boundaries of his sexual tendencies, of a man under oath to be celibate until marriage (yeah that doesn't go well for him)..
Cassia tries to be the good catholic girl her parents want her to be..But anytime she sets her sights on Caleb her thoughts turn provocative.

“Caleb is trouble and if my parents find him here, it’s off to Antarctica where they’ll lock me in a tiny, little igloo and sing prayer songs until I bludgeon myself to death on a giant ice cube. "

MY THOUGHTS: Gods I LOVE books like this, shity az buggery of a day outside, you open up a book and the outside world just ceases to exist, this book had that desired effect on me!!
Once I started this I became so absorbed in the story the house could've fallen down around my ears and I'd be clueless, this book is nothing like what I expected from this author, this book had me glued to my ipad, I devoured those words, fell in love with these two characters..
Her use of words, the story line, the characters just all pull you in and before you know it your invested in this story right to the end..Gods I cray cray loved this book hard!! The feels, the time I sat here reading this I didn't want my journey with these characters to end, so beautifully written..

NOOOOOOOO It can't end like that!!! Please tell me there will be another book!!

~~Please don't tell me this is a book standalone?! OMiGAH!! That ending! It just left me hanging. Skyla, where you at?! I'm coming at you with my pitchfork!! lol

Throughout this, we meet Cassia and Caleb, two individuals wanting to break out of the "Good Catholic Girl/Boy" personna and just live their life own lives, on their own terms.

"A good Catholic girl should want a good Catholic boy...but I'm not a good Catholic girl and he's clearly not a good Catholic boy. Does that change the rules?"

Cassia is a girl with a racy past, who moves with her parents to Caleb's father's church, to getaway from the scandal she brought upon her and her family.

Caleb, on the other hand, is a wolf in sheeps clothing, who pretends to be the quintessential church boy but in reality is scheming at the seams.

"I'm a man drowning in lies, booze and sex. I'm a lost cause suffocated by sin."

As you can guess, both protagonists obviously meet while at church, and from there it's a bit of gnawing of your nails on how their love story is executed. I mean, the poor guy and girl can't get a break from outside influences such as their parents constantly breathing over their necks or interfering, Caleb's own tragic past looming over them, and their own doubts and insecurities lurking in the background. Waahh~~~

"Unlike me, she cares about people in ways I can't even fathom. She is my polar opposite. The color to my grayscale."

I was a little disgruntled with the amount of shame and contempt Cassia's parents held over her. I mean, how can you keep your own daughter, your only child, locked in such a gilded cage?! Was over the top for parents of a 19 year old to have such a hold on her. But, hey, you can't choose your family can you?

And Caleb. Mr. 21 year old with a supposed job that I had not seen. To carry such a burden such as he around his own father, and want to appease his own dad, even though he knows deep down that it is futile. I felt bad for him. He and Cassia definitely NEED to escape the debby downer cloud that their families and the church cast on them. It is a recipe for disaster to say the least.

The ending, for all of you who may have wondered about my rant in the beginning, it is an open cliffy that will have your mind going in a million directions. Here, I had it in my mind that everything would be tied up in one inning.....BUT NO!!

Darn it, Skyla Madi!! You got me, you evil, devious woman!! >_<

There are loose ends that I need answers to!!

I would love to say that I hate you but we both know that it is not true. I love you and I love your writing. It has had a calling to me from the very beginning and I look forward to seeing your characters come out of the pages and incite my imagination with their words and their story lines.

I would really recommend for those looking for a steamy, taboo type of boy-girl relationship!
It's fast, easy to get into, and gets your libido going all throughout! Definitely had a lot of pent up sexual frustration going! Haha

Skyla, there better be a bk2! *Pretty please with a cherry on top?!* :)

The premise of the book was somewhat interesting. Since I woke up one day and realised that oversexed barely legal people don’t fix my romance cravings I bought this strictly on a whim. Sadly, it made me remember why I try to not binge on high school and college drama. Some might call it getting close to 30, but I just call it realism – young love is dramatic, and sometimes overpowering. But it’s really hard to write about it and not have the whole book play out like a bad sitcom.

My overall verdict is – messy. I don’t understand the high ratings, but I am sure it will be filtered out in time.

The characters lacked depth and the ‘surprises’ had no build-up. Most of the revelations are in-your-face and coming out of the left field by being totally unconnected to the story, or just badly executed. The heroine’s parents are so over-dramatic it’s not even funny, and the hero’s family reverts from bland to theatrical. Also, while I appreciate some good old lust, calling it love is just sad. This is basically a mediocre erotic read centered on two (very) young (and immature) adults that flirt and have lusty sex. We can say it is sinful and titillating – but it’s just sex and chemistry.

The ending or epilogue hints at more books to come, but I have never seen a cliffhanger in an epilogue before. I don’t actually know if this is a series, or if the author wanted to have a histrionic ending to fit the melodramatic tone of the whole book. What I can safely say is that if this turns in to a series – I will not be buying the sequels.

I am not even going to comment the ever so classy silhouette of the lusty curvaceous lady on her knees that represent Caleb’s chapters or the unconnected silhouette of a rose that signal Cassia’s thoughts.

Arghhhhhh, Skyla Madi, what the hell did you do to my heart?! Chapter one sucked me right and my goodness, I didn't realize what I was getting myself into.

I thought, ‘Oh, Cassia is just rebelling against her parents’, but when her story came out, I realized it was much more than that. In reality, she was looking for her freedom from her parents and I would have also. But what caused her to be in the predicament that she finds herself in?

Dirty, dirty Caleb was just DIRTY, and he had my thighs clenching, my toes curling and my heart speeding like it was nobody's business. The first time he opened his mouth he had me thinking naughty thoughts that I almost felt guilty about...almost. He was anything but an obedient pastor's son—he was the total opposite of his father.

Caleb and Cassia have a tumultuous relationship, and it had me getting mad, irritated and just plain grouchy! They were both stubborn, not wanting to give in until the other did first, but when they finally did… *BOOM* Fireworks went off everywhere!!

The sexual chemistry between them was off the charts! Though there is plenty of steam, there is also a story of love, fighting for your freedom, and moving on, too. Hold on for this roller coaster ride between two stubborn people wanting the same thing, yet wanting it done their own way!

Now, Skyla Madi, that ending had me… Well, you'll have to One-Click to find out! I just have to ask, there will be more on them, RIGHT??? ~ Kara, 4.5 stars

Into Temptation gives us the story of Caleb and Cassia, both struggling with the people their parents expect them to be and the people they truly are, and want to be. They both see parts of themselves reflected in the other and are able to connect on a deeper "spiritual" level. This is the beauty of the story. Neither wants to give in, and try as they might, they cannot resist the pull of their attraction.

"Bitches love eggplant emojis." ~ Caleb

For all the intensity this story held, it blended well with a mixture of comedic relief and heartwarming moments between the characters. One of my favorite scenes is where Caleb gets some poignant advice from Agnus, an older parishioner of his father's church.

"These days, they say love knows no bounds, but then criticize those who dive in too early."

The place that Cassia is in in her life during the story, God I ached for her character, she was under the thumb of her over-bearing parents (I feel like over-bearing isn't a strong enough description because they were truly awful and blind to everything.) Thank God for the humor in this book, it keeps you from wanting to reach through your e-reader and throat punch her parents.

"Meanwhile, it's assumed I'll be whoring it out in a dirty back alley somewhere, spreading nothing but herpes."~ Cassia

Into Temptation was a completely fantastic read!!! Skyla Madi, pulls you into her stories with descriptive details, incredible character development, fluid scene transitions, and witty dialogue. She is one of the best writers I have come across in the Contemporary Romance genre. A MUST READ! Five Sinfully Delicious Stars.

Sinfully enticing, Skyla Madi leads us into the desirable world of temptation with her hot and sexy words.

Cassia is the girl that wants to be a good Catholic woman, not because she truly desires to be. More so because in her parents' eyes, specifically her father's she's the black sheep of the family. So she does whatever they demand of her without hesitation, trying to make up for a past that she tainted for them all.

But that's not who she is, nor the person she thrives to be deep down inside.

Sinful.
Wicked.
Corrupt.
And depraved.
Caleb is definitely a wolf among sheep, but what a seductive creature he is. Smooth, and erotic in every way, shape, and form. Nothing you'd expect from the Father's son.

But Caleb is a walking talking façade.

In the eyes of the church, especially his father's he is a servant of the Lord. Definitely not the man Cassia sees, or the man who hides his true self.

"They’re good Catholic women. They’re what I should try to be, but I can’t. Not when all I can think about is the Father’s son, the one with the rosary beads, fu*king me six ways from Sunday. On the altar. Bent over the pew. In the confession box. Against the gold statue of Our Lord and Savior who grips his own rosary beads."

Together, Caleb and Cassia are provocative and arousing. They are drawn to one another almost immediately. Both try to resist the pull and deny their wants, but like two magnets these two giving in is undeniable.

Skyla, Skyla, SKYLA... Lord have mercy on my poor soul after reading this novel!! Add in the ending *pounds head against imaginary wall* and I don't know if to pull my hair out, or sit here with an evil smile on my lips.

Into Temptation will surely lead you into temptation as Skyla Madi, breaks the rules and entraps you within the pages of her alluring novel.

Cliffhanger; new adult; tons of typos

19 yr old Cassia is raised by extraordinarily strict Catholic parents who were so appalled that she'd had sex with a boy that they packed up and moved from ND to AZ. Seriously. So she can be "fixed". Her parents are emotionally abusive, lock her away (literally) in their house with no phone or computer. They enlist the local priest to help this slutty daughter of theirs see the err of her ways.

But they can't lock away her thoughts. Cassia lusts after Caleb, the priest's son (this is explained) who isn't all good himself, despite the lies he tells to his father and the community. In fact he's got serious emotional issues stemming from his mother's suicide and sister's kidnapping and now he's all into Cassia.

The story is dark, and is all about how people are not always what they show to the world. They sneak around a lot and Caleb is a dirty-talker. What really blew me away was the last chapter and epilogue... which I'm not sure I'm buying. But is exciting nonetheless.

I came across this book because a readers had said it shitted all over her religion and put it in a bad light, I loved the fact the author didn't back down and said she would write whatever she wanted because it's her book.
Readers telling author what to write is a pet peeve of mine. If you want a book written your way write the damn thing yourself.
Anyhoo, it brought my attention to this book and I had to read it. I love taboo reads. Dark, erotica and religious. Win win in my opinion.
Good catholic girl Cassia is smothered by her strict religious parents and kept on a tight lease. Then she meets Caleb. He's the epitome of bad he volunteers to help with Cassia's bible study.
I loved this book, great main characters the bantering between the two him trying to get in her pants and her trying to keep him out of it. His unashamed manner and how he loves sexually harassing her.
'lets spread your bible wide open'
She tries to be a good girl but with Caleb that is not an easy task.
My first read won't be my last, hopefully there's more of Cassia and Caleb

February 22, 2016

In Into Temptation, Skyla Madi wrote a taboo, sexy and emotional story that I loved from beginning to end. I have read other books that tackle religious and erotic themes, but none of them were quite as hot and wicked as this one was. The story centers on Cassia, the daughter of faithful, churchgoing parents, and Caleb, the son of the church's priest. The two of them experience an explosive chemistry when they meet, and its only a matter of time before they both fall into temptation. Told in dual POV, the story was well-written and had a unique storyline that kept me hooked until the end.

Caleb was such a kinky, dirty-talking bad boy. Having dealt with tragedy at a young age, he acts out by sinning, and is unapologetic for it. As soon as he meets Cassia, he wants her, and pulls out all the stops to get her to give in to him. She really didn't stand a chance in resisting him. He was determined to get her and wanted her with a need so strong, he wasn't sure how to handle it. He tried in vain to fight any sort of connection with her, knowing that getting close to anyone would be a bad idea. He had demons, and wanted to fight them alone. After years of meaningless sex, the last thing he expects is for a girl to get under his skin so quickly. Cassia was someone who really didn't know who she was as a person. She desperately sought the approval of her parents after being caught doing something "sinful". She tries in vain to repress the part of herself that longs for sexual satisfaction, but once Caleb inserts himself in her life, that becomes impossible. I was so frustrated by her unwavering love for her parents, who essentially treated her like crap throughout the book. They were so strict in their morals, that there was practically nothing Cassia could do to redeem herself in their eyes. She had been paying the price for months, and I wanted so bad for her to just break away from them and become her own person. These two characters deserved to find happiness with each other, and I really wanted them to find it.

The author did a great job infusing elements of humor, angst, and sexual tension together in a well-balanced way. I liked the banter between Cassia and Caleb, and when the two of them came together physically, it was like a blazing inferno of heat. Their encounters were so intense, and neither of them could get enough of each other. Their relationship quickly grew into much more than sex, and I don't think either of them saw it coming. This book was so much different than what I expected, and I loved it. The ending was an unexpected one, and I am really, really hoping that the author follows up with another book. I have not had nearly enough of Cassia and Caleb.

I would have given this book five stars until I got the worst crap ending in the world. I mean and not even a second book? It just doesn't make since. So mad right now. I read this whole story and then nothing. What a waste.

'It seems sin himself has taken the liberty of showing up on my doorstep.'

Although this wasn’t my first forbidden book where religion and sex were mixed, it was definitely one of a kind and very different to anything else I’ve read so far. You really need to consider beforehand if that’s your alley or not because there’s not much left untouched in this story.
‘I disgrace my religion by showing up to Sunday Mass only to lust over a boy who doesn’t know I exist, and the guilt it stirs doesn’t go unfelt.’

I dived into the book and was captured from the start. The story had a lot more depth than I expected from the blurb, which was a positive surprise. I felt with the characters and connected with them from the very beginning. I can’t even express how much I loved this unputdownable book which I devoured in no time at all. I liked how it unfolded and how Caleb and Cassia secretly bonded even to their own surprise and unexpectedness, because it only started with looks and forbidden physical attraction, but it exploded into something a lot stronger which they didn’t see coming and didn’t plan on happening. But at some point I felt that the story got a bit lost until it was picked up again closer to the end. There was a lot of physical attraction between Cassia and Caleb until feelings got in the mix.
‘God wants his children to be happy, right? Well, riding Caleb’s face until I see stars would make me very happy.’

The Story:
Cassia’s parents were very religious and strict people, which is why they moved states when they caught Cassia in a compromising position with a boy. Since then, she tried to be a good Catholic girl but the Father’s son Caleb was just too tempting to not have sexual fantasies during service at church. Can she withstand her attraction to him and get into good graces with her parents again?! Or will it all go down the drain in the end?!
‘If they find out how badly I want him to strip me naked and plough me like it’s our last hour on Earth, our next move will be to the North Pole… and I don’t do cold.’

Thoughts:
Let me give you an example of why I love the writing from this author so much. She knows so well how to get the readers heartrate up, and this is one of the sexiest descriptions I've read on why sex is otherworldly fantastic:
‘If we’re not supposed to bang out of wedlock, then will somebody please tell me why it feels so good? And it’s not just the thrusting part that feels good. It’s the feel of smooth, foreign skin as it slides against yours and the sound of heavy breaths as they clash together. It’s the taste of clean perspiration and excitement on the tip of your tongue. It’s the rush of adrenaline that floods your body when you make the other person groan and come…’

Phew, it was definitely a very hot read! For whatever reason though I expected it to be a dark read but it wasn't. Maybe because I’ve only read the New York Crime Kings Series from this author so far, which I would consider darkish and I loved it so much! This one was nothing like it though and Cassia’s problematic relationship with her parents escalated way more than I anticipated.
‘If the devil played any kind of instrument to incite desire in young woman like me, it was in the form of Caleb’s voice.’

I loved the banter between the characters and how perfect they fit to each other. I wasn’t prepared for Caleb’s brokenness and dark soul though which had my heart breaking in a thousand pieces. Cassia’s parents were overprotective of her and she never lived up to their ideals of the perfect Catholic girl. She had to pretend and hide who she really was, which was hard considering her age of 19 and the temptation of Caleb. Cassia still lived with her parents who dictated her life. She seemed a bit like a rebellious teenager who hid behind a wall of pretend adulthood. She often acted immature despite her age, but considering that her parents sheltered her or rather kept her from experiencing life as she still lived with them like a prisoner, it's kind of understandable.
Caleb on the other hand was only a few years older but despite his devilness and sexual insatiableness, he was stuck between being a grown up and the painful memories of his childhood which probably had him acting careless in a way.
‘Sunday. It’s my new favorite day of the week and not for the reasons it should be.’

The story/epilogue ended with a cliffhanger (not too bad though) and I can't wait to start the second book.

Emotional Roller-coaster ride ahead🥰

Oh my the feels.... Just finished this book and I'm wanting to take a breather but also can't wait to start the next book. What a Roller-coaster ride this one was for sure.
The undeniable and crackling, irresistible pull between Caleb and Cassia. From being something casual to serious feelings to the crazy journey this two take.
Wow... Just wow.....
Cassia's parents are just something else keeping her caged, denying her freedom but no matter what you can never hate your parents and would always want to do them proud.
That's exactly what cassia tries to keep up doing even if her parents are so stubborn to see their beautiful daughter, understanding her instead they judge her every step of the way.
On the other hand, Caleb, he's the wolf among the sheep hiding in plain clothes. The bad bad boy trying to keep up the charade just for his dad. His past shackles him and everyday is a battle to try to numb the wounds still fresh from the past.
What is not expected for Caleb is the depth of emotions he feels for Cassia.
Oh my.. Caleb is certainly an intense and passionate guy.
The up and downs, the pressure from the family, unexpected curves thrown their way, this two battle it all out. But then.... BOOM... 😲😲. An unexpected turn that occurs changes everything.
AND THAT ENDING... I just need to start and I'm jumping straight onto the next one. Loved loved this tumultuous journey. 💖💖💖💖

That ending though!
Caleb Andrew’s, oh my heart! Sinfully sexy with a smirk to rival any privileged hot hole he is the devil in disguise. He was/is/might be yet, amazing. Its no big secret that I love the broken ones, the ones that break you down into pieces and then put you back together again, sometimes. And Caleb and that mouth of his totally tick all the boxes!
This book covers some serious topics, I think it’s safe to say it’s not for the feint of heart, but trust in the process and trust in the author – its worth it!
Cassia, bless her socks. She’s so many of us rolled into a book character. She’s so relatable, everyone who reads this book could be her, she’s just great.
Eurgh I’m going into book two, like now. I can’t wait! I had to take a break in this one, life happened and it was tough reading, I wanted to be able to drop myself in the book. Now I’m in I can’t stop. 5 amazing stars!

My heart broke for Cassia and Caleb in this book. They have both been endured too much in their young lives, however, I am not sure that the author really knows that much about the Catholic Church. As a practicing Catholic, who attended a Catholic school, I was surprised that even the description of the mass was off. There is really not room for interpretation for mass either. Catholic’s in general tend to not take their religion so seriously outside of church. This would not have been that much of an issue if so much of the book didn’t revolve around it. I already have the next book, so I will continue reading. By the way this does end in a cliffhanger.

I am a HUGE fan of Skyla Madi's work. And this one, so far, is my favorite! I loved it!!!! There's the good (naughty) Catholic girl, and the dirty, hot AF guy who also happens to be the Priest's son. Throw these two together and mix it with Skyla's amazing talent to write the hottest...ahem..."love scenes," and OF COURSE you're going to get one of the sexiest stories EVER! I was flipping through the pages just to see what the hell these two will get up to next. Amazing read. And the title is perfect for this novel.
(Im)patiently waiting for the second book... ;-)

It had the potential to be a really good book. I loved about 70% of it but the ending felt a little anti-climatic. It just wasn't fleshed out enough for me. The overall plot was a good idea, the characters were well written (apart from the poop head parents), it was spicy. Overall, it was a decent read, just not enough substance to it. Hopefully book 2 will make up for the last 30% of this book.

holy cliffhanger

Great storyline a few misspellings here and there but overall it was funny, serious and steamy. I liked that everything wasn’t tied up into a neat bow at the end instead now I’ll be impatiently waiting to know what happens in the next book

I really liked this book, but omg why did it have to end like that?? I hate that I'm left guessing and there isn't another book.
