Ciardis Weathervane is nothing if not resourceful but she and her friends are running out of time and options. They stand at the westernmost edge of the Algardis Empire with a mission from their emperor – bring home the collar that will stop a god in its tracks or die trying.
But nothing is ever that simple. In their way stands thousands of people trapped inside a walled city for half a century. With the bodies of the living and the souls of the damned, the denizens of Kifar have become the living undead.
What’s worse than confronting the undead? Learning that those poor souls blame the imperial family for their predicament. Now the city and its people want retribution and the only thing they will accept is the sacrifice of the empire’s most famous son – Sebastian Athanos Algardis.
He will stand trial for the crimes of his bloodline and it will take more than diplomacy for Ciardis to win his freedom, before a reign of fire comes down from the wyvern and the dragon to burn them all.
Ok I’m finally giving up this crappy series. I usually try to finish a book/series. Or if it is too awful, I find the synopsis online to see how it ends. Apparently this series is so bad there isn’t even a synopsis online. I’m moving on with my life
So awesome I can't even verbalize it! I LOVED this book! It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions and events, but it all worked out in the end! I can't wait for the next one! Also, Ciardis and Thanar and Sebastian grew so much! I love this book! Read. It!
I NEED MORE!!!!!!
Reread December 12th, 2019 Dang, that was good! We get a very nice resolution to all the emotional turmoil that plagued the group in the previous book and the first third or so of this one , see the city of Kifar (and ), get the wyvern's head, and meet a disturbing, interesting man(?) named Seven. Raisa also says some interesting things to Ciardis, Fun stuff! I'm really happy that Ciardis, Thanar, and Sebastian are more united now, and the scenes where they worked together in this book were wonderful! I also like Terris more. We hadn't really seen her in a while, so it was nice to see her get the spotlight at the end with . Overall, this was a fun book to reread, in part because I'd forgotten a lot of it, and would only really remember as I reread it, and because it's generally quite well written, exciting, and resolves some of the issues, emotional and political, plaguing the group. 5 stars.
A well deserved five stars, and nothing less, is what this novel is getting from me. I have awaited the release of book 7, Sworn To Vengeance, and was not disappointed in anyway. It is the perfect continuation for this amazingly enchanted and magical series. Terah Edun has created a world all her own full of magic, adventure, mystery, thrills, heartbreak, and yes love. In this installment of the Courtlight Series there are new adventures with every turn and lessons that Ciardis must learn....the hard way. There we also alliances made that are so unexpected that my mouth dropped while being completely enraptured by this come-to-life story. It was written so well that I'd swear I was reading from a history book. If you haven't read this amazing series yet, I'd say do it now....don't wait. I must give credit where it is due, job well done Terah Edun. I can't wait to see what happens next in book 8.
Absolutely fabulous!! Terah Edun just added an incredible book to an already incredible series! I absolutely love the character dynamics in this book. Without giving too much away, I will say that because this book centers around Ciardis, Thanar, and Sebastion, their companions, and their quest, this book really centers around relationships and character development. There is action and intrigue, for sure. The story is definitely engaging and fast paced. But, on top of that, my favorite part was learning more about who each individual character is, and what makes them tick. I also LOVE the developing relationship, date I say friendship, between Sebastion and Thanar. Well done!
Sworn to Vengeance is a perfect read from beginning to end. Once I started reading it, I just couldn't put it down. I love the way that Terah Edun developed the relationships between Ciardis, Sebastian, and Thanar. I'm excited to see where this twist will take the three of them in the next installment in the series. As always, Terah's writing draws you in at the beginning of the story and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
*I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.*
This book was amazing. I loved the development in relationships and am eagerly waiting the next book. Terah didn't rush this book which was great since there was a lot going on! I absolutely love this series!
I received this as an ARC for an honest review. Loved it! Sworn to Vengence moves the story along and we find out if Ciardis, Sebastian and Thanar will be able to come to some sort of understanding. Can't wait for the next installment!
I have waited for over a year for this installment in the series, and I am rather disappointed. Most of the first half of the book, everyone acts so juvenile, that you almost hate to insult the juveniles. In one scene after another, someone will get into a snit over a small perceived slight, the rest of the crew will snark along, until someone finally says, "look, we have to get along, let's focus on why we're here" . A paragraph or two later, someone else gets their feelings hurt, and we do it again.
But once you get past the first half of the book, we finally get the story moving, and learn what's inside the lost city, which does have some interesting twist to it's "people"?!?.
I just feel that after waiting all this time, way past the original supposed publish date, Terah could have done a bit better with the dialogue, and not have everyone appear soooo pms sensitive. They are all crankier than two year olds who missed their naps AND their snacks, and about as intelligent.
That being said, she did give us an interesting story line, some very inventive twists getting into the city, and dealing with the inhabitants, and finding their objectives.
I don't feel I need to summarize the story for you, plenty of other reviewers will do that, but I did want to express my disappointment, especially as I know Terah can, and has done better. I will still be looking for the next in the series, and hopefully, she will write as well as she started out.
Terah hit another one out of the park. We are getting closer to the end however, it doesn't feel rushed at all. Terah has created a world that I want to live in and even with them in Kifar didn't change it.
So as you know from the last story they made it to Kifar. However, as you can see from the bio of the book Sebastian is in trial. You will have to read the book to see how it turns out. The one thing that they are looking for is found with the least likely person to have it. We also see a side of Ciardis friends that we don't always see. It mostly takes places in Kifar however, not all of it is there. Make sure you read it all the way through or you will miss something interesting. A lot of little details are in Sworn to Vengeance.
After a very slow start where I literally wanted to just go take a bath after 1st getting out of Ciardis head as she slowly thinks and brings us up to speed. There must be a shorter way. If you are a fan, you know the storyline and are ready for some action. If you are a new reader check out the books at your bookstore as the story is so much better told in sequence. That said once the action and story start it is true Terah Edun from the get go. I enjoyed all of the twists and turns and the plot was fabulous. The wait was worth it and already looking forward to the next adventure of the triad.
Can I get a refund for my time? I should be grateful for how short it actually was, however, since half the book was spent on a clifftop with characters bickering like tweens you would be embarrassed to have as relations, much less waste precious reading time... sigh. The sad part is there are some interesting enough ideas and the writing is good. The pace is glacial and I'm not a reader who minds a slower paced book if done well. This was just too thin.
So, the trio resolves their issues and the team figures out Kifar. It started slowly with too much time in Ciardis's head. Also, they've spent all day planning on one way to cross the desert and then discover a new way while the dragon has Ciardis?
The whole bit with the dragon was strange. It was partly tied into the trio bonding later, but it didn't seem clear to me.
I love this series. I love this book. I stumbled upon it by accident and I am so happy that I did. Ciardis is a wonderfully complex character who is constantly evolving.
I am struggling with the pace of this series and the lack of character development that is occurring within each book. I quite like the characters but the plot line moves so slowly, especially at the beginning. The first books in the series were much stronger and more fun.
Every single one of the Courtlight series have been fantastic!! Terah Edun is an amazing writer. She can have you feeling like your right there with the Characters!!
