finished this cute but very informative book @Panco Cafe. I surprisingly feel like I know more about coffee now, how its made, its origins and the different factors that affect its taste. As a coffee person, I appreciate this liquid gold even more through this book 😊☕️🤎
This book managed to answer the questions I had when experimenting with various grinding and brewing methods and kinds of coffee beans. It also helped me realise and appreciate the regional characteristics of different types of specialty coffees, as well as the never-before-that-I-care such as the qualities of water and milk.
As a barista himself — and a proud owner of Market Lane Coffee, Melbourne — Jason indeed had introduced some of his personal preferences regarding the brewing methods. Some of which I did not agree, such as the light bashing of cold brew coffee. His book also shown a harsh truth that, despite being the second largest coffee producer in the world after Brazil, Vietnamese coffee is yet to be regarded as a specialty and hence, was not mentioned in the book among the other producers, i.e. Etiopia and Indonesia.
As a coffee lover and non-professional barista, I rated this book five stars for the vast knowledge of the coffee industry in general. This book is, however, not suitable for any professional baristas (or those who are aspiring to be one) to learn as I am sure there are other textbooks to refer to. That being said, I really appreciate your recommendations on any books to read about this exciting field.
Beautifully illustrated coffee table book with all the basics any coffee drinker should know. Easy and quick reading. Spoiler alert: in the end the coffee gets drank.
