The Macabre Lady and the rest of the major players in Ares Security, a global PMSC, set their sights on Kozuki, who has squirreled away the Ark, and Ren, whose ESP is the key to unlocking the Ark itself. Rinka teams up with her old frenemy Kobushi (and even forms a tentative alliance with Minami) to take down Ares from the inside. And Murasaki's ESP may turn out to be just the thing they need to win the battle, before the Messiah is reawakened...
Boy, this is an explosive volume! Action from first to the last page. There is a theme of dysfunctional families running through it with sisters and mother/daughters. Also, a lot of surprises as we learn about traitors, turncoats and real identities.
Man... In a series that for the most part had clothing that made sense, Segawa-sensei put the main female characters in "Battle Babe" costumes for the final battle rather than battle armor. And this stuff was provided by the CIA. I'm not buying it, and I'm disappointed. Though, truth be told, the second half of this omnibus was full of weird things like this. The torture scene, for instance. It's like they were pushing Segawa for ratings or something and the "sex sells" thing was taken a tad too far...
The battles were well orchestrated, the artwork was well-done. There were some unexpected twists, and I'm impressed that Segawa .
There's one more omnibus edition left, and I have to say that I'm not sure how this will all end.
