There are no "damsel in distress" scenarios in this volume, thank goodness. Nakatsu makes a brazen confession, a reporter tries to learn Sano's secrets, and Mizuki's friend Julia comes to Japan as an exchange student. Of course, the school she's attending is right around the corner from Mizuki and co.'s so she can cause some chaos. Nakatsu has found a rival for Mizuki's affections, or so he perceives it. He's intended as a clownish character but I think he's cuter than Sano. :D

In this volume there's a side story featuring Nanba saying farewell to his first love. She was a 20-year-old carrying on a sex relationship with a 14-year-old kid. It's fiction and all, but yikes! Not cool!

A not very interesting volume apart from the last chapter, but I liked the scenes with the doctor.

Karate lessons, an annoying reporter, and a surprise visit from someone from America.

All in all though this is a fun volume and I am just hoping so so much that something will happen between Sano and Mizuki. And with that I mean more than accidental hugs, helpful moments, and oh yes the "sleepovers". I can't wait for the next volume.

Review to come Friday.

This series just keeps getting better. I cannot understand why I didn't get into it years ago. Honestly. And, if the main "guy", Mizuki, isn't enough for you, there are more REAL guys in this series than any girl could shake a stick at....and, they will definitely keep your attention.
Really loving Dr. Umeda....and, his NUDE photo as well...LOL.
Also, Mizuki now has 3 people "in love" with her. Who will she choose...the guy she traveled thousands of miles for, the straight friend who is now questioning his sexuality, or her female American friend?!?

This volume is quite solid. There are moments I feel bad for Nakatsu and Komari. I like the introduction of Julia, and the backstory of the dormitory RA was good. However, I didn’t understand this ridiculous reporter and the slowness of Sano and Mizuki. Yet, since this is a reread I know that the slowness will only continue. 3.8/5

Well, an annoying reporter has shown up to ruin things for Mizuki, but Sano’s always got her back. He’s making sure no one figures out her secret while I’m left wondering why on earth he hasn’t told her he knows yet. Seriously? Why not just say something? Oh wait, it’s probably because he’d have to acknowledge that he has feelings for her. In the meantime, Nakatsu’s really trying to deal with his own feelings. Suddenly, the fact that Mizuki is a boy (even though she’s not) no longer bothers him and he pretty much puts himself out there. Fortunately, he’s a pretty happy-go-lucky guy and it doesn’t seem to bother him that Mizuki hasn’t even acknowledged his declaration. Is any of this realistic? Absolutely not. Am I still loving it like crazy. You bet.

It all comes down to Mizuki and Sano. I need to see them end up together, so I think I’m in this one for the long haul. Unfortunately for you, that means I have like 18 volumes to go… or something like that. Oh yeah! And Mizuki’s friend Julia shows up, once again making the whole romance between Mizuki and Sano freeze. Things are always getting in the way of them telling each other how they feel. At least they’re not lying to themselves anymore. One thing I will say for Julia is that she gives good advice: ask him out! While Mizuki stresses about every little detail, Julia tells her it will work out if he likes her. There’s no need to worry about the logistics (those being that she’s pretending to be a boy and Sano is obviously not gay and also not supposed to know about her said female-ness).

There was another pointless chapter about Minami and his past romance with an older woman. My first though was “who cares?” but the chapter ended up being pretty entertaining, if a little racy. All in all, I enjoyed this volume and I’m ready for more. But seriously, I want more Mizuki/Sano moments. That’s the reason I decided to stick with this manga in the first place.

In other news, I watched the Japanese show based on this series and it’s kind of cute and majorly quirky (but what Japanese show isn’t?). I’ve decided to watch all of it. It’s definitely interesting to see all the characters played by real people. So different! I will say they did a great job casting a very attractive Japanese buy to play Sano and the girl that plays Mizuki is so freaking adorable it hurts.

Volume 6 is like watching a rom-com on fast-forward—there’s drama, humor, and sudden bursts of heartfelt moments, all crammed into a few school days. Nakatsu’s inner crisis is still the funniest part, while Mizuki dodges suspicion like a seasoned spy. Four stars for chaos density and unshakable charm.

What???

Poor Nakatsu. By volume 2, he started to seem a little OOC compared to how he was acting on the first volume. By now, he's just the character that is incredibly obsessed w/ Mizuki. I'm also glad Julia made her appearance. She's an interesting character.

Ugh, and the short story, as usual, was fucking horrible and the character(s) lacked morals. For once, a 19-year-old sophomore in college led a 14-year-old middle schooler on and had sex with him! Like, DAFUQ?? PEDOPHILE MUCH???? Also, she was sort of a bitch. She dumped him without telling him why and then approached him like a few years later before she got married for whatever reason. That's sort of a dick move. So far, this one is the worst one-shot out of all of Ms. Nakajo's short stories.

This volume wasn't my most favorite of the series, but I think it is because I don't care for our main character's friend popping in(I think her name is Maria or Julia or something). There is also something seriously sketch about the reporter woman (I can't remember her name at the moment.) that I don't like at all.

I can't wait to read volume 7! I'm so happy that I have the next three volumes from the library, and I don't have to wait for them to come in from the library.

I'll say that reading this particular manga series on Kindle was extremely difficult. I definitely like having a physical copy especially in paperback better.

Nyerah, kayaknya. Ngga pernah betah baca shoujo manga lama-lama 😂 Setelah nonton Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun agak paham sih bahwa tropes lazimnya memang begini. Tapi ya hadeuh, saya jenuh aja sih intinya.

This was a particularly funny volume - I think Umeda is my favourite! That "repellent"! Hilarious!

Though, not going to lie, the Namba Minami story with a 14 year old and college student having a physical affair... kinda grossed me out. That's hebephilia.

This series keeps getting better. We really get to understand Nakatsu in this one. By the second half of this, all the emotions contained inside of him are starting to combust. It creates an interesting dynamic between the characters. There is also lots of cute moments in this! And we get Julia.

Ooh what fun! Nakatsu finally says what he needed to... now if only he was ok with unrequited love! Julia is a fun addition to the cast. I wonder if she and Nakatsu will end up together at the end!

This one was probably my least favorite in the entire series. It was a slower read and could have done with a little more oomph. It just seemed like a filler.

Lots of fun with quite a few laugh-out-loud moments! Mizuki is just too cute, and Sano is very awesome. Nakatsu is always good for some comic relief and Umeda is without a doubt very cool.

And I love how the plot actually -moves-. Too many shoujo stories just amble along and make no progress, but Hana-Kimi is actually moving forward!

Second time reading: Nakatsu's whole storyline is cute, and it's nice to see some progress. Of course, I'm curious as to how it will get resolved... and it better get resolved. Karasuma also adds an interesting mix. Julia's presence seems likely to move things along as well, though I must admit I'm not her biggest fan.

Also, I wasn't overjoyed with Nanba's backstory. He's not my favorite character and I don't really care for those kinds of stories... but I guess that's just a personal preference.

Contains Chapters 26 - 30: In this volume Karasuma continues to bother Mizuki until a combination of threats from Umeda and Sano get her to back off. Mizuki and Sano are continuing to grow closer and now Nakatsu has accepted his feelings so it will be interesting to see how that will change things in the future. Then near the end of the volume Mizuki's friend Julia visits from America and she is now stirring up trouble.

Bonus Story: Lover's Name
This bonus story is mostly flashback about Minami and his relationship with his ex-girlfriend. It was an interesting story and ends with him accepting that they were both young and have moved on with their lives.

Oh my god!!!1! I loooove this seriesss!! It's my favorite shoujo series and my second favorite manga series of ALL TIME! I just love everything about it!! I would totally do what Mizuki did.. though I don't think I could get away with it.... especially not in a Japanese school... -_- WELL! That's just not fair. Anyway, It's sooooo funny! AH! It's all so great! I can't contain the fan-girl in me! :O I even loved the TV series! (Especially the Taiwanese one! Ella and Jiro were hilarious!)

I binge read all of Hana Kimi. It's easy to see why that is so easy once you get into the second chapter of the series. Hana Kimi is filled with complex character moments, tension, and fun. All the characters come to life and its hard to put the story down. I've read my fair share of manga over the years and will continue to. I have the feeling that Hana Kimi will remain one of my favorites. I can't wait to get in a reread.

Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Julia is funny but she's so weird. Also I don't like the fact that she's calling Nakatsu 'yellow haired monkey' ;_; But I'm very glad she came all the way from the States to Japan! Mizuki really needed a girl friend to talk about stuff. But THE ENDING OF THE VOLUME IS JUST WHAT WHAT WHAT?!?!?!?! Starting Volume 7 right away!
