The Sweet Valley High cheerleaders are going to the Nationals! Although Jessica Wakefield and Heather Mallone have called a truce as co-captains, their biggest rival is Heather's old squad. Even Jessica is shocked by their low-down tricks. When Heather flubs a routine, Jessica suspects that it's more than a case of nerves.
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
The nostalgia is real! I'm in my thirties and have been reading the SVH books out of pure nostalgia. I have most of them hard copy from my childhood, but being able to read them on the Kindle sometimes is great. This series within the series is one of my favorites. Heather is one of the original mean girls (or is Jessica? lol), but she keeps it interesting. I also like the storyline where they are lost in on their survival trip. These are great books.
V for Victory is absolutely hilarious!! I can forgive any of the characters being annoying in this because when Todd, Ken and Winston go on a road trip to find Liz, Jess and Maria and dress as cheerleaders omg it's legendary!! I was genuinely laughing out loud!!

I didn't get a chance to read the book before this one "The Pom-Pom Wars (Sweet Valley High, #113)" but I got the gist of the story in this mini series.
New mean girl Heather arrives in town and outshines Jessica in her own cheerleading team, thus snagging the captain post for herself and kicking out Jess in the process. Well, Jessica didn't stand for that so she started her own squad with Elizabeth and Lila as members. Unfortunately their progress was marred by Liz's secret romance with Ken, then Jess's boyfriend. Ah, these twins and their numerous men!
In this particular book, Heather and Jess come to a truce (but by now everyone hates Heather's guts) in order to play in the Nationals. Difficulties arose when Heather flubs a big routine due to the presence of the girl's former cheerleading squad prompting one to ask who could be threatening her.
