Reality Check in Las Vegas

Rate this book
When Tiffany's friend Stone decides that he needs to disappear, Tiffany tries to track him down.

If there are enough cupcakes available, Tiffany can achieve anything.

In her attempt to find Stone, Tiffany runs into a self-proclaimed diva, Lana Fierst, who also happens to be a judge on a reality TV show. Lana claims that her life is in danger - and when Tiffany and Ian agree to help her out, they soon find their lives endangered, too.

Meanwhile, Karma's grandchildren drop by for a visit, and Tiffany decides to throw caution to the wind and learn to bake her own cupcakes.

Will Tiffany find Stone, and whoever is trying to kill Lana, before it's too late?

More importantly, will she have enough cupcakes in her life?

Quick and fun read, I'll admit to that.
But the writing really needs to be improved (it sometimes feels like the author doesn't know her characters or what was written in the previous books... in this specific book, there's a whole paragraph that appears twice at different moments which really felt awkward and left me with the imrpession that the book was written in one sitting, no one re-read it after and it was formatted and edited just like that).

Tiffany is still looking for Stone and is having no luck. Jack reveals to Tiff startling information, but is he lying because wants her back or is he truly being honest? Along the way she is hired by a reality show judge who thinks someone is out to kill her. Tiff enlists Ian for help and they enter a reality show competition with hilarious results. Having an in at the show helps the investigation along but with an attempt on Tiff and Ian's lives there's more to it than meets the eye. Detective Elwood helps out a little and Tiff meets a new police detective that she has a brief flirty encounter with who might be interested in her. She's still missing Jack and still has hope of finding Stone even if it kills her.

The more I read in this series, the more I love it. Short fun books that can bring you right out of a reading funk. The last few days I haven't really felt like reading, started a whole bunch of books and then last night I picked my kindle up and started reading this book of the Tiffany Black Mysteries series. I ended up breezing through the whole thing right before bed and the next one is already downloaded for my downtime at the airport later today.

This is the 5th in the series. Its about a quirky card dealer in Las Vegas who has a new P.I. business on the side. Her business is new, and she is learning as she goes with her fun sidekick Ian who is a super awkward guy. Tiffany loves cupcakes, and she has a way of getting herself into trouble and then back out again. If you enjoy the Stephanie Plum series, you'll love this one too.

Tiffany Black the cupcake loving detective. In this edition Tiffany is searching for Stone he disappears and the CIA is looking for him. Tiffany's ex boyfriend lets her know he hired someone to follow stone and tells her he is not what she thinks he is. Ian also seems to come alive in this book we learn a lot more about Ian's interests. The case she is working on though felt a little rushed at the end when it was unraveled. What i like the most is that the series is a bit funny and easy to read for a light hearted cozy mystery. I like my cozy mysteries that way.

Probably closer to two stars. This is obviously meant to be a light and fun series but none of that was evident here. The characters seem to sleep walk through this one. There is no mystery, no suspense and no comedy. The crime is only resolved at the end because the criminal reveals themselves. Along the way Tiffany seems to exclude most suspects based solely on intuition. It’s a crime mystery series set in Vegas with a couple of main characters that could be pretty good. Too bad, the earlier books were better.

I haven’t really enjoyed the last few Tiffany Black books, but I thought I would give them one last chance.
Unfortunately the book doesn’t start well, an encounter with an ex-boyfriend and the remnants of an angst-ridden romance. Followed by an obsession with cupcakes and lusting after Detective Dimitriou.
I’m afraid I have decided Tiffany isn’t for me and this is the end of the line for this series.

Liked the story, not the ending

Tiffany and Ian make a great team. Lana was a Diva and Gordon typical Hollywood boytoy.

I'm not happy with Stone's storyline.....where is this headed? Is he what they say he is or is he the good guy we've grown to know and love?

Can't wait to read the next book and learn what happens next.

Another solid effort in the Tiffany Black series from AR Winters. Storyline moved quickly and Winters further develops Black and her cohort Ian’s characters nicely. The only knock I have on this book is that the mystery that was unraveled throughout seemed quickened near the end and was rather cliche in comparison with previous efforts. Still worth the time overall.

I get that its a comedic mystery but where is the romance...

This one felt a little dry to me I miss Jacks character I miss Stone and I also miss the heat... even though we never got any not asking for explicit sex scenes but waking up in bed and fading to black and sexy banter would be nice

Easy series to get hooked on

I am surprised at myself. I usually will read q book or two in this type of series and move on, or if a book a year author, read their book a year. This is I take it a series that has been around awhile, alot of books out there. I will now end review and read next in series.

Great story with mystery and humor

Enjoyed this addition to the Tiffany Black series. I love Vegas and having mysteries set in that city with its own drama and spectacle enhances the story. The puzzle is there along with humorous and likable characters. This time, Tiffany must hep out a reality show star being stalked and seemingly the victim of several murder attempts.

Entertaining!

Nice break from serious reading and I finished the first five in the series. Tiffany, the main character is funny and always hungry for cupcakes! The stories and crazy characters have kept my interest even though the books are considered light reads. If you’re a fan of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum capers, you’ll enjoy this series.

Stone has disappeared and Tiffany's life is falling apart. She has to lose weight to stay as a casino dealer but cupcakes keep calling her and now Ian and her have learned to bake. Tiffany gets a case trying to figure out who is trying to kill a TV star and Ian and Tiffany keep running into dead ends. Great reading and a very enjoyable series

Reality is better than fiction

I like how the characters balance each other out. Great story line. Looking forward to seeing how Tiffany handles the changes that are coming. Could be a stand-alone but better if read in order.Highly recommend this series and author.

The fifth in the series

Tiffany is back and hired to look into attempts to kill a TV show judge. She manages to keep saving her but can not catch the perpetrator. Lots of action and twists and turns with a surprise ending. A fun read

Cute Romp!

Another cute romp of a book in this series. Tiffany is definitely missing Stone but life must go on. She gets a new case and devotes her time to solving it. Will she ever see or hear from Stone again? Read up to find out.

"Tiffany Black" is a character who feels like she could be a real person. I like her (and Stone, Ian, and Snowflake) and intend to continue the series. It's also nice that these are "clean" cozy mysteries.

Getting old

The whole cupcake thing is getting a bit old, overall. Typos continue. Not super impressed as this series keeps moving.
