When we meet again with Gregory Ryans and Scarlett Heath, the pair are dealing with the fallout of the death of Gregory's father. Gregory lives in fear that he's dragged Scarlett down into to the hellish depths that he lives in daily, but there's nothing that Scarlett won't do for love. And she does love Gregory, with a fierce obsession that scares her, since not only will her man not say the words back to her, but he's also keeping some very very dark secrets. With the threat of a murder conviction looming and the extreme roller coaster of emotions Scarlett experiences due to Gregory's manic moods, the relationship between the two of them may be doomed before it even has a chance.
VENGEFUL LOVE: DECEPTION is the second book in a trilogy and it's a doozy! I couldn't tear my eyes away from this read, it was sensually erotic, emotionally fraught, mentally frustrating and utterly captivating. I'm just as obsessed with Gregory and Scarlett as they are with each other,and while her neediness in this book could've been a turn off, instead it made the characters seem real, with a depth not often present in erotic romance. Witness:

New Scarlet is confused, up and down on a daily basis, a liar, a murderer. But she has a man she adores. A man she is so utterly infatuated with she's about to throw away a huge opportunity at work because she can't stand the thought of leaving him.

The thing is, I am addicted. I'm addicted to the adrenalin rush, the thrill of being with him. Bad days, in fact, utterly shit days, like today, make the high days like Monday at Primrose Hill and Wednesday's kinky home–working day seems even higher. He's in my veins, he's in my blood and I'm starting to think he might be the only thing keeping my heart beating.
Damn this book is deep and punishing and had me utterly captivated and furious. Scarlett's friends are concerned about her, she's flaking at work, she becomes clingy and jealous and needy and obsessed with sex and all things Gregory, and it's completely unlike her strong, independent persona we met in the first book. The sex in this book is raw and passionate and crazy and erotic and one seriously wild ride from the first page to the infuriating last! I know this review is vague, but I don't want to give anything away, as you deserve to feel the gut punches with Scarlett.
Bottom Line: This book pushed my emotional buttons and left me panting for more. The 3rd book, Vengeful Love: Black Diamonds is burning a hole in my kindle as I write this, and my need to find out the culmination of this toxic love affair is all-consuming. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/v...

This second book in the Vengeful Love series picks up where the first left off. I loved this second part even more than the first one ! I felt that Scarlett and Gregory both grew in this story, even if everything is far from being perfect between them. The writing is addictive and the plot remains very intriguing. As a result, I read this book almost in one sitting, I could not put it down !
After the death of his biological father, Gregory struggles with his sense of guilt. He feels he dragged Scarlett in a world of darkness and revenge. He is having a hard time dealing with the fact that, because of him, she killed a man and might be charged with it. He wants to protect her at all cost, but is convinced he failed her. Scarlett is struggling with her boundaries between good and evil. She is very insecure, her relationship with Gregory is not an easy one, mainly because he stubbornly refuses to let her in. Their passion is still intact though, and their sizzling chemistry resulted in some steamy and sexy scenes.
I enjoyed this intense story, with layers of mystery and darkness and complex characters. They still have issues to solve and obstacles to overcome, before they could hope for a common future. The ending of this book will leave you dying to get your hands on the final part of the trilogy! I’m anxiously waiting to read what the author has in store for the characters! I'm hooked !

Deception is the sensational, suspenseful, sexy follow up to Vengeful Love.
I'm am thoroughly hooked, achingly addicted to every word.
This series just gets hotter, more intense and more spectacular.
I'm staking claim to Gregory Ryans. He's mine and I'm in love. This beautifully broken alpha has captured my heart and won't let go.
Continuing on from the fast paced drama of Vengeful Love, Deception twists and turns through love, lust, pleasure, pain, secrets and lies that thrilled me to the bone, pulled me into the story and blew my mind. Deception has sent me through a variation of different emotions, from to love to hate, anger to sadness. I swooned, I got angry, I fell in love and I wanted to shout and scream.
Scarlett once again was super sassy and strong, even with some dips in her exterior she was still there, a fighting spirit, willing and wanting to do all she could for her man. I loved the flashes of insecurity we do see however, it made her more real and solidified my connection to her.
When reading these books by Laura, you'll find that nothing is really predictable. Her ability to throw off my thoughts while reading kept me dangling on the cliff edge desperate to speed read to see what would happen. Nothing could have prepared me for the ending, most of my shouting was done at that point. Black Diamonds is going to be one hell of an ending for these two and I can't wait!

OMG this series is AMAZING! I loved Deception/Vengeful Love more than the first book (if that's possible). I'm a sucker for an angsty romance with a possessive, obsessive, alpha-male that is fighting his inner demons and feelings for his sassy, smart and beautiful woman.
I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book and I really appreciated the fact that Scarlett is no pushover. She loves her man but is not afraid to stand up to him. Gregory is drop dead sexy and I liked that he was really dealing with an internal struggle which gave him a depth of character and not just a superficial wealthy and gorgeous male.
I can say that I did not enjoy Amanda in this book and I have come to discover she really irritates me. I felt she was not supportive of her friend's relationship and that pissed me off for Scarlett.
I am diving right away into book 3 and I'll say that I'm going to be very sad when it all ends.

I recieved a copy of this novel in exchange of an honest review.
another story full of emotional roller coaster by Laura Carter! when I found out that the sequel of Vengeful Love is in Netgalley, I did not think twice before I press request.
This instalment is almost as awesome as the previous book in my opinion. Still here with the amazing character development, plot, and background research but for this sequel I felt that the middle part of the book is a tad too slow paced that I kind of dozed of a little. At some point I felt that nothing is quite happening, it's just our two protagonists living life until suddenly we're almost in the ending part of the book. But again, the books that I preferred are usually too fast paced for some people.
But nevertheless, I would still recommend this book. Despite my opinion for towards the pace, the plot is definitely worth reading. Now I just need to figure out a way to get my hands on the next sequel ;)

This book starts off where the first one ends and I loved the ending of the first book, it had me wanting to read more. The first element of this book was hiding the guilt that Gregory felt by dragging Scarlett into his world, he believes that he should have left well alone. He wants to protect her but he knows that just might not be able to.
Scarlett has already crossed the line and throughout this book she struggles with crossing the lines once again. Greg wants to protect her but she killed a man and he is a stubborn man because he refuses to let her into his life and heart. I wanted to bang their heads together on more than one occasion!
I enjoyed the mystery and the way this story panned out and I can’t wait to dive into the next one! This review is short but there is so much that happens, you need to read it to really appreciate it!

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest opinion.
Book two continues where the last one left off. Scarlett is being questioned by the police about Gregory’s father’s death. She feels extremely guilty for her part in it and wants to come clean. Gregory doesn’t want that to happen. He hates that he has dragged Scarlett into his darkness and want to find a way to save her even if it means pushing her away. Scarlett starts to develop more of a backbone against Gregory in this book. She loves him, but will not be a pushover. Gregory also changes a bit. He starts to open up more, but not enough to let Scarlett completely in. His refusal has disastrous effects by the end of the story. There were so many twists and turns that left me reeling. I can’t wait for the next.

I just loved this second book in this series. we went further into the mind of Gregory Ryans and the connection to Scarlett. He is still broken from his past demons and emotions but Scarlett still wants him and he finds he wants her too much but he is afraid he will destroy her. Their connectIon is still really strong and Scarlett feels she is winning but more situations arise until a decision has to be made. Emotions will be felt strongly in this book and you will be in suspense waiting for book 3. Vengeful Love; Black Diamonds. Laura Carter is an awesome new writer and will fast become a favourite.

3.5 stars. the story carried on from book one, Gregory and Scarlett are being questioned about the murder of Gregorys dad, who was shot by scarlett but greg is taking the blame. this book had way too much sex and i felt to over powered the story. they might have had sex three times in a row with little to no story in between which is a shame as this author shows such potential

This 2nd book continues straight on from the first. As we learn more about Gregory and his past the story gets more intense and very emotional. I love their developing relationship, how super sassy and strong Scarlett develops. Lots of twists and turns in the plot that had me on an emotional roller coaster! Again I couldn't put this down, fabulous reading!

What a great read, another can't-put-it-down book in the Vengeful Love series. Intriguing characters and exciting plot with the promise of more to unfold in the final instalment.
