The LORD's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease.
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning.
Great is Your faithfulness.

Where can these words of comfort be found in the Bible? Surely not in the middle of a lament over the smoking ruin of Jerusalem after it has experienced the pure unadulterated judgment of God after a protracted period of stiff-necked rebellion against God! Yet there they are. The Doors may sing "This Is The End" but God does not. His discipline is intended to correct, not destroy, His people. This is part of the message of Lamentations.
