Rumors are flying--about Jessica. The year is off to a terrible start for Jessica Wakefield. Lies about her fly around school, and her friends seem to believe the rumors. How could anyone think that she would actually do "that" with "him "-- the biggest jerk at El Carro high?
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
A story about slut shaming before I even knew the word for it. And the almost drunk kiss between Conner and Liz may have seemed romantic or exciting to 7th grade me but now just comes across as rapey. Tia is still awesome. I think the witty dialogue was better in the Making Out series.
The twins have relocated to a new high school after the earthquake, and now they're finding their places in a social structure that has already been established. Jessica seems to have acted too quickly when she began putting the moves on Will, a popular blonde boy who is clearly interested in her too. But Will has a girlfriend whose influence has long been established, and now she is spreading rumors about Jessica all over the school.
Wow. High school hasn’t changed, it seems. I can’t believe poor Jessica was being slut shamed. I can’t imagine how bad it would be for her today, in the age of social media. I can’t wait to remember how this is rectified.
jessica is stronger than me fr. i would have decked melissa, melissa's stupid friends, lilah, and will. conner likes girls that "aRenT lIke oTHeR gIrls." cause they dont order diet coke?? jessica listens to fiona apple!! (pg.82)
I still remember reading this and being so infuriated over Will's cheating ass and Melissa allowing it and letting Jessica take the blame. Slut-shaming at its worst.
The drama continues in this 2nd book of the series! The way Melissa is treating Jessica is not fair. Jessica did not know Will had a girlfriend. Will just sits back allowing it to happen. Melissa is just trying to cover up the fact that her boyfriend cheated. Elizabeth wont admit that she is falling for Conner but they doesn’t like it when Maria and Conner start dating. Conner doesn’t want to give in to his attraction to Elizabeth either! So much drama!

SVH senior year #2 The saga of Elizabeth, Jessica, and friends continues. For the first time in her life Jesssica is not the popular one. In no way am I condoning the awful blatent lies coming from the cheerleading team/football team, but I do wonder what Jessica would have done if the roles were reversed and it "appeared" that Melissa was attempting to steal her man...just a thought. What a horrible, horrible thing to go through. All of us readers though realize that before Jessica was a shallow ans self absorbed person. Therefore, this whole situation is ultimately going to change her for the better!
In the Elizabeth saga, all I can do is say bad Liz and Connor...poor Maria. We all can see where this is going 100 miles away...except for Maria. It's still hard to believe that being "best friends" Maria didn't get any hint that Liz has a thing for Connor.. Well I guess the drama wouldn't be nearly as interesting if she did.
SVH continues to be my guilty pleasure that I read when I need a break from my historical fiction and REAL romances :)
I read a lot of Sweet Valley these days, catching up on the story I have missed for so long. I've never read this one before, so it's fun.
A little disappointed on how Jess reacts to the abuse she's facing. But it's also kind of nice to see how the story develops, as Tia takes her side and Elizabeth supporting her.
Oh yeah I got this book from Linafeo, she gave it to me for free :)
WTF? I received this book in a chain-letter scenario and read it as I have been sick and in bed. I knew it would be awful in that "I'm gonna eat that corn-dog, enjoy it, know it's bad for me and pay the consequences" kind of way. But jesus- it was worse than that. Some kind of bullshit that young people read it and possibly believe it .
I think that these series is okay and I've honestly been counting how many altogether Sweet Valley has in its series...I'm currently at 295. wow. good book series that very similar to a soap opera. If you like em, you probably won't be bored for a while. :)
this is a very interesting book,my friend Sarah and I found this book in our school's library.I can only find the 1st,9th,10th and 41th book so i couldn't continue reading it
So much slut shaming. So much non-communication! And yet, so much nostalgia. I re-read the first in the SVH: Senior Year yesterday so i decided to read the second with my coffee this morning.
