My youngest two children adore this series of books. In fact the last few we have bought on the day they come out. We have read this one together three times now. And every time we finish one there is a teaser for the next volume and we wait months for it to come out. This fifth installment in the series is another great read. The Dragon Masters books can be read separately but they do tell one continuous story so they are best read in order.

In this adventure the dragon stones are seeming to fail. The children and their dragons head back to Egypt and with the help of Heru's parents they read the legend of the pyramid of the seven dragons. They must solve the riddle to find the pyramid and then all the puzzles to get to the master dragon stone. With each puzzle they solve one dragon master and one dragon must stay behind. They must complete the tasks in the right order or forever be trapped. That is a lot of responsibility for 6 young dragon masters and their dragons.

Damien Jones does some awesome illustrations. My children love going over the pictures again and again. There are pictures on most pages and embellishments on all the pages. The artwork really does take the story from good to great. They make the story come alive and spark the imagination.

This is a fantastic series and one of my children's favorite series currently. We have reread this book and all the others a number of times now. The whole family enjoys joining Drake and the other dragon masters on each new adventure. We eagerly wait for each new book to come out. From my youngest who is 5 to the oldest who is 10 this book is loved. This is a great book and a great series for young readers of those who read to and with them. They come highly recommended by the whole family!

Absolutely superb installment in the Dragon Masters series! My favorite book by far, as an avid reader and a fan of fantasy series (or any series to be clear), I love it with all the threads from previous books come together in a meaningful way. What a book this was!

I loved that the Dragon Masters and their Dragons all had to work together to solve the puzzle. It reminded me so much of the first Harry Potter book. It was set up beautifully to show all of the dragons strengths as well as the Dragon Masters. I was impressed by the scene setting and world building, and how it all paid off in this wonderful installment.

Heru and his Moon Dragon, Wati, are such terrific characters. It was great to have a scene away from the kingdom and to reunite Wati and Kepri. Such a fun and clever book!!

5 stars!!!

A mysterious pyramid, a Indiana Jones adventure and the joining of all the Dragon Masters to solve the puzzle and then the stone creates a dragon out of magic.

This was a great addition to this series

The dragon stone seems to be in trouble and the dragon masters must do what they can to save it!

This is such an amazing series. Each dragon has a dragon master that once they connect they can communicate with. Each dragon has their own unique ability. One can teleport. One can blow fire, while one can blow water and another can blow poison!

{My thoughts} – Heru is back with his Moon Dragon Wati. Upon their arrival Ana’s Sun Dragon Kepri is happy to see her twin again. Although the reunion is not a good one, it is still nice for them to be in the same place. Heru comes with news that the Prime Dragon Stone is in trouble and that the Dragon Masters must help him find it to restore it’s proper balance. While the Dragon Masters are gone with Heru, Griffith stays back to try and see what he can find in his books about the Prime Dragon Stone.

It turns out that in order for the Dragon Masters to get to the Prime Dragon Stone that they need to work through a series of puzzles. Once they figure out each puzzle they get one room closer to the Prime Dragon Stone. When they reach the end, even they weren’t expecting the surprise they found.

I really enjoy the tie in with the previous characters in the books into the newer books. I am also liking that there are more and more dragons being added, which is helping to keep a continued interest in the storyline. This continued interest is what is helping me to continue through the series. I look forward to reading the next book in the series soon.

Heru’s family has protected the secret of the dragon stone for generations, but they just casually show all the kids as soon as they arrive...then you’ve got hieroglyphs that make rhymes? A pyramid with dragons on the side that no one noticed until flying over it at night...another rhyme (not in hieroglyphs this time), an instruction that each dragon and master must be left behind (why?), and an egg that hatches from the dragon stone. If this is a natural occurrence, why do the other dragons need to go there to do pointless puzzles? How did Griffin and Diego discover such an important fact when Heru’s parents, the guardians of all this dragon stone knowledge, didn’t know?

Also...the dragons can understand them without the dragon stones. So it’s pretty stupid that when the stones go screwy the dragons act like they can’t hear or understand basic words anymore. And Rori claims she controls Vulcan - girl, all you do is ask him to burn stuff, and he decides to listen to you 🙄

Buy this book for its great story with human, dragon, and wizard characters. Buy this book for its clues, puzzles, and connections that will surely be exciting for young readers. Buy this book for the fantasy lovers, dragon lovers, and quest lovers in your life. This series is consistent from book one to 29 and book 30 is due in December, just in time for gift giving.

Fair warning, these books set up series readers at the end of every story giving just enough information to need that next book. I love that about them as I want my students hooked on reading! I am a sucker for a good chapter book with more white space on the page, shorter chapters, and an engrossing storyline. Tracey West is the master of this type of book. I have all of her books in this series between my two elementary schools. It is a popular series. Thank you, Tracey!

This is an excellent transitional chapter book for middle elementary readers, with fifteen short chapters and small black and white illustrations on every page. The book is a continuation of a high fantasy series about a group of kids and their dragons, and the cliffhanger at the end of the story feeds the reader’s desire to devour the next book in the series, contributing to creating a lifelong reader. The text and plot are simple, with a quest issued at the beginning that the dragon masters successfully solve by the last chapter using the magic of their bonds with their dragons. Despite the simplicity, the story is engaging with exciting action and characters that work together to tackle challenges and solve puzzles.

We’re been making quick progress through the Dragon Masters series! Flight of the Moon Dragon by Tracey West is the 6th.

I think this may be our favorite book so far. In it the Dragon Masters have to work together to find out why the prime Dragon Stone is loosing its powers. It felt a bit similar to end of the Chamber of Secrets where each Dragon Master is responsible for solving a puzzle to move onto the next room and get closer to the end.

This was definitely the book my son was most excited to read. Each night he’d get so excited whether we’d solve the mystery of the Stone. And with the way this was ended, we’ll need to quickly pick up the next.

5/5

The young Dragon Masters' connections to their dragons is failing. They must travel to the Land of Pyramids to find the prime Dragon Stone. There are many puzzles to solve. Will they be able to work them out and find the stone in time?

This is the sixth book in the series, and my seven-year-old is still enjoying them. He was excited to see Heru and his moon dragon Wati return. He liked working out the puzzles with the Dragon Masters. Awesome illustrations and a fast moving plot make this a great read.

In this book they rely on the strength of all of the dragons. The dragon stone is weakening and they fly to Heru's homeland to save it.

They find the pyramid of the seven dragons and each dragon and dragon master has to solve a doorway.

In the end Drake discovers that they weren't quite accurate about the dragon stone. Griffith and Diego show up to tell them what they discovered only minutes after the dragon masters figure it out themselves.

The book ends with a baby dragon on the loose. Now the masters must try to help it before someone evil catches it.

SPOILERS!! Best of the series by far. The moon dragon and Heru are my absolute favorite. The moon dragon is camouflaged at night and can shoot moon light. The gang (six of them now) get to go into a pyramid and each dragon had to open a different door. After they opened the door they got left behind. And then plot twist! A dragon egg taking energy from the stone and it hatches into a sweet lightning dragon baby that can shoot lightning and go through walls. Who’s the lucky dragon master who gets THAT dragon?? So good.

Continuing the Dragon Master series, the masters are in danger of losing their connections with their dragons. As the link grows weaker, the masters are called to the land of pyramids where they must work together to solve a series of riddles to get to the dragon stone and hopefully rejuvenate their powers.
The bond between the kids is stronger in this particular book as we see them working together really for the first time.

I was surprised to see this book at the library, as it was not listed under the Dragon Masters series in Goodreads. My 7-year-old daughter was thrilled as we've been waiting to continue the series. The story was as fun as the others, and the illustrations continue to be masterfully done. Although there are a lot more characters and voices to keep track of now. That said, it wasn't confusing at all. I enjoyed reading it to her and she couldn't get enough.

I am writing this review on behalf of the 8-year-old reader.

"I think that out of all the Dragon Masters books, this one is the best! I like how each character is tested when they enter the Pyramid of the Seven Dragons. I also like how book #4 connects to this one when the Moon Dragon swoops in & they learn that the Prime Dragon Stone is under attack. I recommend this book to anyone who likes cool & fun stories. My son read the whole series, so I'm pausing with my adult reads and flying through these to have our first book-talks as father and son. It's wonderful! We talk about each one, and he loves that I'm finding out stuff that he's already read. He now understands the concept of spoilers and has some fun with those.
This one was one of the better ones in the series - booby traps and teamwork, and an Indiana Jones flair. But the quest was kind of inconsequential. But fun for discussing with my son!

Miss 7 liked the idea of the puzzle rooms to solve and that the pictures meant that she could help solve them along with the Dragon Masters.

Miss 7 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

The thing I liked most and least about this book is the same. I really liked that each dragon and dragon master had a door to open. I really didn't like that each time a door was opened a friend got left behind. Bo and Ana are my favorite friends and they were left behind first.

It's pretty cool that they found a new baby dragon.

I read this one aloud with my almost 5 year old son. This series is definitely his favorite chapter book series right now. This was an exciting, fun read with new mystery and adventure added in. He loves learning about the different dragons and Dragon Masters and trying to guess what's going to happen next.

The Dragon Masters books are an awesome series about dragons, magic, friendships, teamwork, finding your hidden talents and believing and trusting in yourself. My son loves this series and we are purchasing these books for him to have on his personal bookshelf for him to be able to re-read on his own. My daughters enjoy listening to the books too.

Flight of the Moon Dragon is the 6th book in the Dragon Masters series and my son (age 6) enjoyed it just as much as he has the others. Reading these stories has become an important part of our nightly routine and it has really helped foster his love of reading. He even asked Santa to bring him more for Christmas! I highly recommend these books.

Another Dragon Master book read in less than 24 hours. He skipped ice cream and TV to read this book; That's how much my son loved it. This one was really fun! This was like Harry Potter trying to get to the sorcerer stone, but the dragon masters solving the puzzles to get to the dragon stone. Very fun! On to book 7!
