Hot damn! Can Dani René write an erotically pleasing sex scene or what?! Yeah there was plenty of plot, but with the amount of sex these people were having, I was pretty oblivious 😂😂. I'm kidding. Sorta. It's just that there weren't merely sparks flying off the pages. These people virtually combusted and I'm surprised my kindle didn't singe my fingertips!
Cassandra was left devastated after one too many catastrophic losses. She was looking to start a new life in a new city and in no way was she trying to find love. Lucien was the epitome of a playboy. Exotic and beautiful women were commonplace and everyone knew he was up for a good time. He suffered his own share of pain and had no interest of ever settling down. And then these two broken characters met each other...
What developed between these characters was sensually beautiful and although sex played a huge role in their relationship, never once did I doubt that their emotions ran deep. I think the author did a great job with developing the characters of this story. Each person had their own part to play and had their own unique personalities and feelings and pieces to add to the whole. Between the plot and the people and the little machinations detailed throughout, this story was easy to set apart from the rest. There are so many stories out there that tell about a D/s relationship that they almost blend together. I'm happy to say that this one isn't like all the rest. It could be that it's been a while since I've read something like this, but I found this story refreshing.
There was one GLARING part I didn't like and I hesitated about including it in my thoughts, but figured I'd just go for it. There's a point when the characters end up separating and Cassandra believes she should move on, despite how much she obviously still loves Lucien and wants to be with him. So what does she do? She sleeps with his best friend. Although Lucien didn't blame her or his bestie, I did. That goes against code! If you're going to sleep with anyone (still don't get why she had to hop into bed with someone just because she wasn't able to sleep with the man she wanted), don't let it be with someone from the circle. That's wrong in so many ways and no one should have to tell you that. Unless you're looking to get some vindictive revenge or some ish, it shouldn't be done. That's my two pennies.
Overall, I enjoyed myself while reading this. The one part that displeased me was a blip in the grand scheme of things and there was a lot to like. So if you're looking for a story that'll make you drip, Broken by Desire needs to be added to your list!

This was not your ordinary love story. This is a very hot and sexy story. I just love the story line. The characters were amazing. I got hooked from the beginning. I had to stop and drop while reading. The love and sex scenes are HOT!! Whew!! I give this story Five Hot Stars. This is a must read. Many twists and turns. Get ready to fall in love with Lucien. He is one hot Alpha male! Oh and his best friend, Mmmmmmm mmm mm!! I can't wait to read his story. One-click Now!!

There's one thing you can always expect from a Dani René read - characters that you will fall in love with & a story that will draw you in from page one.
This is an all the feels romance, and at times there were so many feels, I didn't know if I wanted to kiss, slap, shake or punch people.
This is the story of Lucien (holy hotness batman, is guy a book boyfriend and a half!) & Cassie - two somewhat broken & damaged souls who in finding each other start to mend.
It's not all rainbow and kittens however.
There are hidden secrets & dark truths everywhere, and as their story unfolds, there are plenty of NFW (no flipping way!) moments to keep you guessing & on the edge of your seat.
There are characters you will love, there are characters you will despise & the whole thing makes for a completely engrossing read.

But when she meets Lucien, the connection runs way too deep to walk away from. Lucien tries to not get involved, but Cassie’s light shows him away out of the darkness.

Hello lucien and don't even get me started on Jayce!
Broken by desire is a beautiful love story filled with twists, turns, turmoil and plenty of red hot sex!
I loved how the characters were so entertained with each other and how they each developed as the story went on. I may have shout out loud at both Cassie and Lucien "what are you doing" several times and bang their pretty little heads together!! Bbs is a slightly slower paced read than I'm used to but not in a bad way as it is perfect for those times where you can sit back and fully absorbed in a story line!

This story about two broken souls takes you on a roller-coaster of heat, emotion, and pain. The overall story intrigued me, I wanted to find out the why? the who? of the characters At times, I wanted to strangle the characters..... angst..... poor choices.... inner dialog....but, the twists and turns of plot.... the author did a good job of evoking REAL emotion. I'm very interested to see this author grow into her words and ideas.

WOW!!! Just wow!!! Dani has once again written a story that reaches into your chest and just unravels your heart strings and at the same time is just so freaking HOT!!! Cassandra finally gets her change and is ready to start her new life, when she sees the most handsome man she has ever seen but is not sure she wants to go there. Lucien wants nothing more than a one night stand until he sees a woman who is beyond beautiful and who has him questioning his life. The chemistry between these two is undeniable and there is a reason for that...so read and find out!! ps. you're going to need to keep a man on stand-by to help quench your thirst ;)

I have been in a book funk lately and when I saw all the 5 star reviews, I thought I'd give it a try, but boy should I have known better then to trust these reviews!
First of, this author is yet one more on the list of wannabes who have to cash in on the "40 shades of grey" theme. So yes, folks, there is a BDSM theme in this read but it is sorta safe.
What this author - and all those 5 star reviewers - failed to mention and warn readers is that there is cheating in this book - by the heroine!
Sorry, but this one is a load of crap! How could any sane human being like this s*&t is beyond me! Save yourself the aggravation and as I've learned, don't count on these 5 star reviewers to tell you the truth. DNF.

April 2, 2016DNF!! I had a hard time finishing this book. Yes its hot but it is also very similar to other books such as FSOG. I wasn't a big fan of FSOG which is why im not surprised that I couldnt finish it no matter how hard I tried.

I finally got around to finishing this book by Dani Rene and I absolutely love the roller coaster story of Lucien and Cassie. I honestly held my breathe until end of book because you never know what crazy turn your going to come across. This book is unpredictable and fantastic!

I fell in love with Lucien and Cassie but even more so, I fell in love with Lucien’s best friend Jayce. DAMN THAT MAN and his words.. I want him to come visit me!! :)
This book is more than BDSM, it’s about a love that stands the test of time. This book has many twists and turns, some you see coming, some you wish were there (but alas the author doesn’t disappoint), some that just tilt your entire axis and make you want to throat punch someone.
This book is a treat and should be read with flame proof panties and a nice crisp bottle of wine. Also try to have your significant other around because they may need to help work out your “issues”.

I loved every second of this book. I love the way Dani René brought the characters together, the story was equal in the love, the plot, the twist and the intimacy. The characters all had such great personalities that make you love every single one of them. You would love Cassandra's sassy talk and Lucien's alpha man behavior. The story was refreshing! So excited to see what's next after this and possibly even more stories from this author ❤️

Another amazing book by Dani Rene. As a huge fan of her debut book Ace of Harts, I was excited to read Broken by Desire, and desire is definitely one way to describe this book. “I was his light, he was my darkness”.
Lucian is a man who thought he would never fall in love, until he meet Cassie, but what he did not know is they already have a past, they have been linked in a way that pulls them to one another just from one look across a coffee shop. ...Fixed me with words, his touch, his kisses, and the way he made love to me, the way he f@cked me.”
I absolutely loved Lucian’s character. He had it all, and I do not mean money. He was crass, but sweet, rough but gentle, and loved with all his heart. “She was a light in my darkness. My lumiere.”
This is a love story with a lot of BDSM scenes that will melt your panties off, so my advice, don't bother wearing any panties! Also keep your significant other close because after reading this book you will need to take your ache away, just like Cassie needs Lucian.
“I will make you beg, and when you do, it will be for me to f@ck you. When you submit to me, it will be because you need to, ache to, and that’s a promise.” Yes, Lucian controls in the bedroom, but as dominant as he may be, I loved how as soon as the intimacy is over, Lucian only sees pure adoration in Cassie, Dani Rene does an amazing job of showing us both sides of this amazing man, and you see a lot more sap than commanding.
Don't pass this book up, and don't let BDSM misguide you, Lucian and Cassie have a pure love, and they might have to open a few doors to get there, but like all relationship, learning to trust one another will get you there.

I absolutely loved Lucian’s character. He had it all, and I do not mean money. He was crass, but sweet, rough but gentle, and loved with all his heart. “She was a light in my darkness. My lumiere.”
This is a love story with a lot of BDSM scenes that will melt your panties off, so my advice, don't bother wearing any panties! Also keep your significant other close because after reading this book you will need to take your ache away, just like Cassie needs Lucian.
“I will make you beg, and when you do, it will be for me to f@ck you. When you submit to me, it will be because you need to, ache to, and that’s a promise.” Yes, Lucian controls in the bedroom, but as dominant as he may be, I loved how as soon as the intimacy is over, Lucian only sees pure adoration in Cassie, Dani Rene does an amazing job of showing us both sides of this amazing man, and you see a lot more sap than commanding.
Don't pass this book up, and don't let BDSM misguide you, Lucian and Cassie have a pure love, and they might have to open a few doors to get there, but like all relationship, learning to trust one another will get you there.

2.5-3 Stars.......Ehhhhh, Just OK
So this book was just ok. Although I am not always a fan of insta-love and insta-lust, I DO like it when it's done right and this was not done to my exact liking. NOW, I like sex scenes, I love them BUT this book was ALL about sex...so much so that I started skimming over them throughout. I also don't mind terms of endearment BUT the whole constant "sweetness" calling got on my nerves fast!
I found that this story HAD potential but sadly the execution of it all fell completely flat for me. I want a build-up, I want a bit of a chase, I want some drama and angst but not the "foolish" kind, no I would like that heart stopping, OMG feeling but yet not done over the top either and I found that this story lacked excitement for me, it lacked that slow but not too slow, sensual build-up and for that I was left disappointed. I guess it was all too cheesy for me, the characters, the storyline, way too much monotonous sex scenes, if that makes sense!
I think that this author is fairly new and maybe with some time and experience it would be great to see her writing grow because the potential is there. I will definitely give this author another go and as a matter of fact I did buy the second book so I will try it out and see if my feelings will change.

this is the second book by this author that I've read and i just couldn't put it down. this is a hot steamy read which sets the pages alight as you read. the chemistry between the characters is definitely hot and will have you hot under the collar. these characters both have dark parts to there pasts which they need to over come with each other. this is a story about finding that one true love and managing to keep a hold of them even when things are against you. i must admit i did skip some of the steamy scenes towards the end but that was just to concentrate on the story. this story was fab with lots of twists and turns to keep you hooked till the last page. the ending was absolutely fantastic and perfect for the story. i cant wait to read more from this author in the future.

Loved these two characters Lucien is sexy alpha and very dominant and has such a filthy mouth. Cassie is very sassy . I also enjoyed Jayce and Kenna which are cassies and lucien bffs they both bring humor to the story.
The plot and twist to this story is good .So many surprise that are revealed that you won't see it coming.
My light in the dark, Pieces fit like a puzzle, Twin flames, Soul mates, My lumiére, forever. Loved this quote in the book. so much meaning for cassie and lucien.

I hate being limited to only 5 stars because for me Broken by Desire is worth so many more.

Cassandra and Lucien are two souls that have been through so much pain in such a short period of time. They share an instant connection from the moment they laid eyes on each other. Cassie and Luke both have dark pasts that they don't want the other to know about for fear of what the future would hold it if came out into the open. We have front row seats on one helluva ride and it's full of adventure, love, tears and of course steamy scenes that will give butterflies deep down in your belly. I just adored these two and can't believe it's over, I read it non stop because I couldn't put it down. Dani Rene is just an amazing author they way the story just came to life. I absolutely loved this book.

I loved this book!!! No doubt a great read. I must say the storyline was very dramatic and almost pike a soap opera, but I loved it. I love the darkness that is Lucien and the light that is Cassie. It was perfect, just perfect, even those darn plot twists. “You will find each other throughout your lifetime, but you will only find forever with each other when the time is right." - My heart!!!!

Are you all ready to be broken by Lucien Verán? Broken by Desire was equally frustrating a lovable. This story was complex and kept you guessing. I was never quite sure what the next twist or turn would take me. I was never sure if I would be smiling with happiness or feeling my heart breaking slowly. Lucien is a classic frustrating male that we just can’t resist. However I was not able to give this novel a full 5 star rating, because there were a few parts of the story that did not settle well with me personally.
I found this novel to be really hard to get into. Before I got my hands on it I was over excited to read it, the teasers were enough to get my excitement pumping but once I was able to sit down and devote my reading time I just couldn’t fine my stride. I wanted to read it and I sat down over and over in an attempt to finish it and yet I kept getting distracted. Finally though I was able to sit down and just read it through to the end.
Overall the book was good; there were a few parts that left me wanting more. Such as the characters secrets throughout the book, without giving any spoilers away because I wouldn’t do that to you all but here were some of the issues I had. One would be Casandra, the female main character. Now to be fair I rarely love any of the female leads, a lot of them that I have read turn out to whiney or childish or their personality annoys me and sadly Cassie annoyed me for at least the first half of the book. As the book progressed she became tolerable. She seemed to flip flop a lot about her feels. First she doesn’t want to date anyone and then she does, she doesn’t, she loves him, they can’t be together, she loves him… I’ve never been one for unnecessary drama and it felt a little young compared to how old she was and what she had gone through in her life.
Something else that I was not overly thrilled about, were the secrets. Cassie and Lucien both have their own secrets, equally dark and devastating though I felt as a reader it took too long to learn the secrets. Some were held off until close to the end, which I find to be rather frustrating. I understand the need for certain characters to not reveal certain things to another character, it build suspense and an interesting dynamic however as an impatient reader I want to know all of the secrets! Give them to me now!
Both characters have their own flaws and these flaws flow with the others to work somehow. They just seem to fit. The supporting character were slightly lacking in my opinion as well. Ok actually just her best friend. They seem like they are very close but she had such a minor part in the story I sometimes felt like when she was there she was not really needed. In general there were A LOT of supporting characters that you had to focus on and it was hard to decide who was really important and who wasn’t. Many character I felt should have had a bigger part to make their storyline more important to the reader while others seemed too blown up when they were not overly important.
There are a lot of plot twists throughout the novel, some that left me speechless but I won’t spoil those for you here. The story too by itself, there is so much packed into this one story. Part of me would have loved to see this story as a two part novel to get more details about certain situations, and the other half of me likes it as one book. I worry if it had been split up, while we could have gotten more details there would be a sense of the story dragging on. Which I would not have liked, making glad that she choose to keep this story as one whole book.
Broken by Desire is really hot, I will say that. If you are looking for a possessive alpha male who favors a little kink then pick this one up you will not a disappointed. Lucien is freaking hot and his possessive nature is endearing. I would recommend this for someone that is looking for a little fluff with a paddle… yes you heard me I said a paddle. Read this book to meet Lucien Verán, read this book to learn all of the hidden and dark secrets, read this book because it deserves to be read, read this story so you can decide for yourself. Don’t take my word for it…

Angsty and sexy…
Cassandra Winters is starting over. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue a dream and begin fresh. Settling in to her new home, she meets the eyes of a green-eyed stranger. A stranger that she really wants to meet and learn more about.

Lucien Veran feels that attraction as well. He is not looking for love either as his life has been a string of hookups and fleeting encounters but with Cassie, there is something more, something he has never felt before…
Going in, I knew there were secrets being kept so I expected there to be some drama and angst associated with Cassie’s past. What I didn’t expect was the full on sensual experience that was going to be part of the same roller coaster ride. Lucien was a lover and he left no stone unturned, or sheet turned over, in his quest to win Cassie’s hand and heart. And he did have to work at it as Cassie did have secrets and a past that wanted her to keep him at arm’s length. But then again, Lucien had secrets too…
Between revelations on both sides plus misunderstandings, dubious choices and meddling family and friends these two had to work overtime to keep up with everything that plots against them. This is the first story I’ve read by this author and there were many things I enjoyed. The writing style felt easy and natural which made dialogue interesting and love scenes sparkle with emotion and heat. While the angst was a bit over the top, and some of the plot turns didn’t mesh for me, the characters kept me reading to the very end. I knew how I wanted things to go so I had a vested interest in seeing how it all played out.
With the flavour of grey shades this is a sexy romance to enjoy with a glass of wine and your favourite chocolate. Decadent!
