Some people just seem to know they are meant to write, but it can still take a while to figure out exactly what their career will entail. Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.

Many submissions and rejections followed.

In 1998, she sold to a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.

In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. She went on to write 21 novels and novellas in that series, then wrote three other series for Kensington before moving to St. Martin's Press.

She has two series with SMP--The Intimate Relations series complete with three novels and one novella of romantic suspense set in California's wine country, and an erotic paranormal series, Feral Passions, set in California's Trinity Alps.

She is also continuing her Spirit Wild series, the sequel to Wolf Tales, independently.

Kate and her husband of over forty-five years have two adult children and six grandchildren. They live in the small town of Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma County wine country.

COMBINED RATING 4.5 STARS

Claimed By The Mate, Vol. 2: A BBW Werewolf Menage 2-in-1 Romance is a combination of two different books by Kate Douglas and A.C. Arthur. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and by the authors.

Wild Passions by Kate Douglas
Rating 4 stars
Feral Passions is a resort run solely by very attractive wolf shifters up in the mountains. They only take small groups of women as clients in hopes that they might find their mates amongst them. Three very lucky shifters did find their mates in the previous book. Now we meet Meg Bonner and her three best friends. Meg is about to be married to a wonderful man. The wedding is almost here and Meg and her friends are going to Feral Passions for a Bachelorette vacation. The closer the wedding gets, the more worried Meg is becoming that she isn’t enough for her husband to be. She is plagued with self doubt. This week away from him will be good to clear her head. Her three best friends are just along to support their friend and to have fun, never thinking that this trip would change their futures forever.

mountain cabin:

Meg’s three friends all experience instant attractions to the oh so swoony men at the resort. It doesn’t take long for them to start to suspect that there is something different about these men. At the same time, the men are having to deal with some poachers that are killing some of the wild animals on the preserve. It is due to this that they discover that one of the women have a very special ability, one that definitely is very useful during a crisis.

wolf and woman:

This was a cute, sexy story and I liked getting a little update on some of the characters from the first book. I feel bad for the alpha, Traker. He hasn’t found his mate yet. He was so disappointed that none of these women were for him so hopefully in a future book he will find his own HEA.

Her Perfect Mates by A.C. Arthur
Rating 5 stars
Dr. Caroline Douglas worked her way through veterinarian school all on her own. Her childhood was not a stable one. She is proud of accomplishing all she has. She has taken over a practice in Blackbriar, Montana, a small community she hopes to make a life in. But then Malec Zenta walked in to her office with an injured buck and everything changed.

 :

Malec is a Lycan. They are a hybrid werewolf. They don’t change completely to wolf form but more of a combination of wolf and man. Malec lives with his Alpha and his wife whom we met in the first book. They also have two other pack mates, Phelan and Channing Verdi. Malec and Channing have formed a close friendship over the years, they think of each other as brothers. But they also enjoy sharing women. They always share other lycans, though, never a human. So Malec was both shocked and irritated at the strong attraction he felt towards the new town vet. She was human so off limits. But when Channing met her and felt the same thing, it was even harder to resist.

At the same time, someone is purposefully injuring animals and leaving them for Malec and Caroline to find. Who or what is hurting these animals and why are Malec and Caroline being targeted?

The attraction between Caroline, Malec and Channing becomes impossible to ignore. The danger from whoever is hurting the animals also gets worse, putting Caroline in danger.

sexy times:

I loved this one and wow, can A.C. Arthur write sexy. All three of these characters have suffered greatly in their pasts. I loved Channing and his nurturing personality. These three together were perfect. It just took them awhile to figure it all out.

Both of these stories were just great. They were sexy, fun, and suspenseful. I ended up reading it much quicker than I anticipated, I couldn’t put it down. If you haven’t read volume one yet, you definitely should. I loved it as well. While it’s not necessary to read it before this one, reading it first will introduce you to the characters that recur in both books and will make you enjoy this book all the more.

Wild Passions by Kate Douglas

I really liked this one. It's fun, sweet, sexy and the plot makes you feel happy that you've read the story. It's not too serious, despite the small angst that comes from the bride-to-be. The first chapter made me laught so hard. I have to say, the warewolfs are quite creative in their way of finding mates. The only thing that did make it a bit difficult to read, for me personally, was that there were almost too many characters. As the blurb says there are six women looking for the week of their life with lots of fun. And add to that number seven guys, six guys from the Feral Passions mountain resort and one fiancé, well...it kinda gets crowded real fast. I have huge trouble with remembering names, so that made the read more of a chalange. That being said, I still enjoyed it and loved the ending. I'm really curious about the alpha's story. He seems like a great character and an amazing leader, so I do wish for him to find his HEA.

Her Perfect Mates by A.C. Arthur

If I'm honest, I almost liked this story better than the first one. It wasn't so light-harted and that made me connect with the plot more. There is definitely more action, mystery and angst in it, also the sex scenes were scorching hot! I mean, who doesn't want not one, but to guys practically just begging to spend the night with you, right?

description

Yes, there was some back and forth but with all the killings (of animals) and the fear of history repeating itself, I think that that made the story even more interesting. I loved the heroine, she knew what she wanted but was also smart enough to consider all her options before making the next step, one that could cost her everything she worked so hard to achieve. And as for Malec and Channing, they made a great pair and to be clear, nothing sexual happens between them, they just like to share their women. It took a while for Malec to confront and get over his demons from his past but in the end he really won my heart. Channing was the charmer and knew how to fix things, so he definitely scored some points in my book, too. All in all, I liked the dynamic of the plot and how it all turned out.

To sum up, both stories make a great read. If you want something ligt and fun, then I recommend you read Wild Passions. But if you want something more action packed, then Her Perfect Mates are the read you're looking for. Both have lots of hot scenes and great characters but in the end it really comes down to your personal preference as to what you'd enjoy reading more. I enjoyed both, so I definitely recommend both!

Claimed by the Mate, Vol. 2 is a quick, easy, erotic, and entertaining. With two novella length tales of passion with steamy shifters, there is no shortage of chemistry and romance.

WILD PASSIONS is about a group of friends heading off to a resort called Feral Passions. The resort is built on a wolf preserve, owned by wolf shifters looking to find their mates.

HER PERFECT MATES is a story about a vet, that gets tangled up in a shifter war when a wolf shifter brings her a mutilated animal to save.

Menages, steamy sexual encounters and sexual tension pretty much make up most of the plot time. This is the perfect book for those how love it their shifters story HOT!

I received this copy of Claimed by the Mate, Vol. 2 from St. Martin's Press in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication June 7, 2016.

Wild Passions - 3 stars

Not one, or two, or three, but four romances in one. Three were MF, and one was MMF. It got a little dizzy-ing keeping up with who was with who especially when nicknames came in. Lots of hot sex and plenty of romance plus there are two more hotties to get their mates.

Her Perfect Mates - 2 stars

Blah. I was bored and confused and speed read most of it.

This book contains two complete steamy hot shifter romance stories by two different authors. In the first story, Wild Passions by Kate Douglas, a group of friends head off for a hen party holiday they’ll never forget! They’re off to a special resort, Feral Passions, built on a private wolf preserve for a fun, action packed time. Get ready for some hot encounters, snuggly wolves to cuddle up to at night, danger from poachers, a car crash and plenty of romance!

In the second story, Her Perfect Mates by A C Arthur, something is attacking local wildlife. When beta Malec Zenta takes the first one to the new Veterinary Surgeon he certainly didn’t expect to find his mate. As the attacks escalate, danger surrounds the pack and Malec and his partner, Channing Verdi, discover that their mate is also in danger. Dare they reveal their true nature to her? Can they keep safe? How will she react?

Both stories are considerably more steamy than I usually read. They do, however, also have intriguing plots with plenty of non-sexual action. Personally definitely preferred the first story as the second seemed to spend more time in bedroom menage a trois antics rather than in developing the plot. If you enjoy your shifter romance with steamy hot action, you'll probably love both these novels.

Thanks to the authors, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read this in exchange for my honest review.

I was invited to review this book but had no idea it was pretty much Erotica even though it's tagged as Romance. It was probably my mistake that I accepted the invite instead of reading up on the book first. The stories have some substance, Wild Passions had a good theme going about women and the problems they face with finding good, credible partners but such blatant eroticism isn't really my cup of tea. In fact I could not read past 1/4 of Her Perfect Mates so I abandoned it, even though Greek Mythology is one of my favorite themes. So I'd give the basic story plotting 4 stars but this genre is really something I am not comfortable reading.

Having never read books by either of the authors I was unsure what to expect. I like a good shapeshifter romance so when asked by the publisher to review for my honest opinion I gladly agreed. I read about book one of the series online to get a bit of background.

Wild Passions by Kate Douglass takes place at Feral Passions Resort where werewolf males have set up a business to find mates. Women come in to spend a secluded sometimes sexual intense vacation and the men check out the women hoping to find one to keep forever. In this story we find out that two men in the pack have found their forever mate in book one. There are six men left and four find mates while dealing with poachers and running the resort. My guess is that there will be another book in the series for the last two men to find their HEA’s. This was a fun easy to read book. I liked the interaction between the men and women in the book and loved the idea of having the men as wolves show up at night to sleep in the beds with the female guests – kind of like big puppy dogs.

Her Perfect Mates by A. C. Arthur has some mythological entities mentioned along with some that are not known to me to be in the pantheon and a backstory for how werewolves originated that is much different than others I have read. There were a lot of terms mentioned describing groups and peoples and shifters and other things that I believe readers of this author and her shifter series are probably aware of. I felt a little left out at times but though there is a set up for another book to deal with mythological issues as well as at least one more male to find his mater in the Trekas pack I was able to follow and enjoy the story of Malec, Channing and Caroline.

Both stories had explicit steamy elements, interesting characters and were complete and able to stand alone.

I would like to thank Saint Martin’s Press-Swerve and NetGalley for the copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 unicorns - I really liked it!!
***Received a copy of the ebook from St. Martin’s Press for an honest review

This book contains two novellas, one by each author, and it is the second volume. They are written for adults only due the content. While you do not have to read the first volume, I think you will feel more connected to the world and characters if you read Volume 1 first.

Okay the Feral Passions story was my favorite again. I just really love this world that Kate created, and it is easy to connect with the characters both the women and men. This group of women were all special in some way, and I found it really cool. Cheri and her men made an appearance which I love because when you connect with characters, you never want them to go away. I can’t wait to see what Kate comes up with next at Feral Passions.

In Her Perfect Mates, there was plenty of action and some you didn’t even see coming. Malec, Channing, and Caroline are perfect for each other with all of their pasts and helping each other through it. Of course, Blaez and Kira were part of the story because they’re the alpha and alpha’s mate. I think I enjoyed this story more than Blaez and Kira’s.

If you enjoyed Volume 1, you don’t want to pass up Volume 2. If you are a shifter fan, you will definitely find something to like in this book. I can’t wait for the next volume.

Very good Stories and Much more...

Enjoyable with the improvements in grammar and proofreading. I love the wolf preserve setting in the first story and the fact that the resort is run by a wolf pack. Who wouldn't want to live at the base of a mountain in the middle of the forest? Malec and Channing are the ideal material for mates. I wonder what the battle with Zeus will be like? Despite that one monumental challenge, their lives sounds like heaven to me.

Wild Passions by Kate Douglas:

Rating: 3 stars

Kate Douglas is a new author to me and was excited to see where Wild Passions would lead me. In the beginning of the story I though the story would be focused on the main characters. Instead I was lead to a total of six different point of views.

Trak is the alpha of the pack and has made a resort where his pack members will be able to find mates, but one rule they have to follow is to not let their guest know of their true nature…unless they are ready to experience a whole new world.

Maggie and her friends, Dar, Elle and Jules all escape to Feral Passion Resort to celebrate a bachelorette party, as they arrive each gal is paired up with a hunky man. Dar with Lawz, Elle with Tuck, Jules with Armando (aka Manny) and Maggie is with the alpha, Trak.

Each pair will experience a relax full retreat, but soon love takes it’s place. Will each man be able to convince his woman to stay with him or will their mates leave them?

I enjoyed Wild Passions as I got to see both the women and men’s point of view along with keeping the shifter part of the story solid. However, I wasn’t really used to reading six different point of views switching every three pages. At times I felt confused on who I was reading about. Overall, I did find this book sweet. I wish to see these couples have their own book instead of sharing in one story.

Her Perfect Mates by A.C. Arthur
Rating: 4 stars

A.C. Arthur is a new author to me and I look forward to enjoying the ménage romance that blooms between Malec, Channing and Caroline.

Malec Zenta's family hasn’t been the same after is twin brother took his own life and Channing Verdi has never known what a family felt like, though these two beta’s have managed to form a bond where they rely on each other…like brothers.

Caroline Douglas is proud of her accomplishment of working her way through veterinarian school all on her own, considering her childhood life wasn’t full of rainbows. She’s taken over the practice in Blackbriar, Montana and hopes to be part of the small community. At least that were her thoughts until Malec came through her doors with a hurt animal.

Her Perfect Mates has a solid plot and I loved the connection you felt when Malec, Channing and Caroline were together. It wasn’t instant, but it sure kept a steady pace as sexual tension started to build. Along with the romance a hunter was killing and harming animals for no reason.

Caroline is determined to finder out who's killing innocent animals and to put a stop to it, but will Malec and Channing be able to keep their shifting a secret before they become the prey?

Claimed by the Mate includes two stories by authors Kate Douglas and A.C. Arthur. My combined rating for this book is 4 stars.

WILD PASSIONS 4 stars

This was a fun and highly entertaining story. I loved all the characters, it had a great storyline, the banter between everyone was hilarious, it had some intriguing twists that kept the pages turning, some seriously hot sex, and overall was a great read. At first, even though I was quickly getting hooked by the story, it was confusing trying to figure out who was talking when. There were only slight breaks between the paragraphs where the POV's would switch, and until I figured that out it was a bit frustrating. Also, it had a lot of POV's and several different couples to keep up with, and even though it seems like the main focus is going to be on the Alpha of the pack and the bride-to-be, it's not. They're both very much included in the story, but it just doesn't turn out like you think it's going to. Not that it's a bad thing! ;) I wish each of these couples would've had their own stories cause I think it not only would have made for great books, but it would've given each a more depth connection to their relationships. I would've liked to have read the first book from this series, but it wasn't necessary to keep up with this story. Although this didn't have an actual cliffhanger at the end, it does have more of a HFN type ending. Hopefully it won't be long before the next book is released.
I would definitely recommend this story.

HER PERFECT MATES 3 1/2 stars

This story starts out kind of slow with a lot of details regarding the Lycan background, as well as information on Zeus and his reasons for hunting down their pack Alpha. Those parts were a little boring to me. It moves into the story where it flows at a steady pace with action, suspense, violence, secrets, betrayal, some steamy sexual encounters, and many twists that you never see coming. It was a really good read, but I felt it was bogged down a little too much with the numerous details of the Lycan history and the problems with Zeus and being repeatedly said through the different POV's. The other thing I was not happy with was the cliffhanger ending. I would personally rather not read a story at all than to have to deal with reading novellas with cliffhangers, especially when it could have all been written into one book. JMO. Although I did like the story, I probably won't be looking to read the next book, if there is one.
I will recommend this story.

What a great second part to the series. I will be different and start with Her Perfect Mates- Caroline is the new vet in town she just wants to get on with her job and make a new start but her world is about to turned upside down again but this is going to turn out better. Malec needs to find out what is causing these animal attacks, they know it isn't a another lycan but what no one knows.
Malec needs to be near Caroline but he has no human skills so Channing tries to be the buffer between them two but he has realizes that Caroline can be the one for them both. They just have to get her to go along with them but she is too afraid as the last time her past blew her life up.
Can they both get her to realize that they can all be happy and can they both keep her safe from the enemy that is gunning for them?
Great to see the team back and to see how they have grown so Phelan what is happening threre he had so much angry?
A great end to the book can't wait to see what is coming next as I am sure that it is going to be delicious.

Wild Passions- the men are back and still steaming hot, they are going to have some fun and just maybe find their mates. Meggie and her three best friends are going on a getaway to Feral Passions before her wedding, she is so confused as she thinks that her hubby to be doesn't love her as much as he says. She is hoping that this time away with help her make up her mind.
Elle, Darian & Jules are all looking forward to this time away as they all have their own issues and they are hoping to see more clearly about their life's.
Dar is about to meet the man of her dreams, Lawz has just found his mate he will just need to get her to stay without telling her the truth. Easy right?
Elle is looking for direction, she has a special gift that can heal animals and she just wants to use it for good, Tuck is the man for her, he is a vet and just so sexy. Can he get her to stay and to make a new life with him?
Jules is a strong woman that has been hurt in the past she just needs to find a man that will cherish her can Manny & Drew be the ones for her? Will she be able to help the truth about them?
Can Meg make up her mind before losing the best thing that ever happened to her?
Can the men left their true nature com out without fear of the women turning them away? The others will get their chance next the right women are out there.
Another great part of the series loved it.

In Wild Passions by Kate Douglas, A cute, fun, emotional story where Meg, Dar, Elle, and Jules who have been BFF's since early childhood head off for a fun week before Meg gets married to hotter than hot Zach. Everyone loves a story with hot male shifters and equally hot women right? Well this is actually more than that.

This book deals with some emotional baggage carried by several of the characters. As a reader we can see that it is only baggage, not truth and we hope that they work things out. Several things are woven into the story, BBW women, a taller than average woman, and some who do not feel they deserve all the wonderful things they have. I loved how this story hit on all these issues in a kind and gentle way but kept the overall theme of finding a mate and Meg coming to terms with if she loved Zach enough to marry him.

Trak is the alpha and his interaction with Meg was critical to Meg's soul searching. The way the author handled Zach and Trak's meeting was priceless and brought a smile to my face. There are still several lycan males who do not have mates and I can't wait to see their stories in the future.

I give it 4 STARS for a brilliant display of multiple characters being featured with equal importance.

In Her Perfect Mates by A.C. Arthur, My first story by this author and it is a very satisfying read. Her characters are a mix of dark and light but she balances the three main characters brilliantly with her writing skills. This story deals with a dangerous unknown shifter, secrets, and people wanting or not wanting someone special in their life.

Bad boy Malec will draw the female readers in but Channing is the one that will warm their heart. Their relationship and support of each other is unique. A unique blend that works for the reader and keeps them interested to read futher.

I related to Caroline with her past life and her desire to have a different one, a better one. Both Malec and Channing push against her wall she puts up, hitting her in areas of her life she doesn't want to acknowledge. But she knows how to push back as well and she does it with style.

This story gets 4 STARS for showing that your true self will bring you all the happiness your desire. So I wonder will Phelan have his story?

Two stories in one novel and a chance to check out the writing of two authors; what more could you ask for. Well maybe that they both be good. Which luck for me they were.

Wild Passion by Kate Douglas tells of The Feral Passions Resort and the pack of Lycans that run it in hopes of finding their true mates. Maggie, Dar, Jules and Elle come to the resort to celebrate a bachelorette party and soon find themselves paired up with a handsome resort employee. Unable to tell the women the truth about themselves until the women are willing to commit the couples must traverse through a minefield before they can find true love. Will the women accept it when they find out their men's secrets.

A well thought out story with interesting characters, but be prepared to pay attention as the point of view changes every few pages to another person. My rating is 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Her Perfect Mates by A. C. Arthur is the story of Malek, Channing He has issues in his past that keep him from forging emotional ties. His friend Channing is warm and charismatic and quickly acts on his attraction to Caroline. Then just as it looks as tho the three may work things through their past comes calling.

While Malek is the typical alpha type of male that needs to be in charge at all time, but he keeps his desire for a closer relation suppressed. Channing uses his charm and wit to hide his own past and wants; not to mention the secrets Caroline holds close to her chest. Can these three learn to let go of their past and learn to trust their hearts or will they lose their chance at forever together because of their fears. My rating is 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Wild passions by Kate Douglas

4.5 stars

Feral Passions is run by hot sexy werewolf shifters. Some have been lucky and found their forever mate but some are still searching.

This was a sexy, funny yet cute read. I loved how the wolves shape shifted and slept in the women's bed. The chemistry between the women and the werewolves was definitely off the charts. All the werewolves are sexy but I felt sorry for Trak who has yet to find his forever mate but hopefully a future book will bring his happy ending.

Her perfect mates by A C Arthur

Fantastic book with an unusual yet sensual narrative.

Caroline is a vet, and she moved to a small town to get away from her past and make a fresh start. Her life turns upside down when a hot sexy guy called, Malec comes in with an injured animal.

Malec is instantly hard just looking at the sexy vet but he doesn't have sex with humans no mater how tempting she is to taste.

Malec is a Lycan, a hybrid werewolf. He resides with his pack but over the years he has shared women with another Lycan called, Channing. Malec's past doesn't allow him to emotionally connect to the females therefore, Malec's sole objective is to pleasure the woman whereas, Channing is the emotional care giver.

There's a strong sexual attraction between Caroline and Malec from the moment they meet. However, Malec is haunted by his past and therefore resists his attraction.

Injured animals, mysteriously keep appearing. Malec during his run smells the scent of another Lycan which is not from his pack. Could these two things be related?

Channing and Malec go to a bar to release stress only to cross paths with Caroline. When Malec takes her to the dance floor and Channing comes up behind her, grinding into her, she's aroused by the two sensational men offering her pleasures beyond her wildest dreams. She resists temptations as she doesn't want her name tarnished as a vet.

Will she succumb to her sexual desires involving these men?

I absolutely loved this book. It was sexy, sensual and the threesome sex scenes were hot. The chemistry between Caroline, Channing and Malec was sizzling, explosive and passionate. The narrative was interesting and definitely keeps you engaged.

There are two distinct novels in this book. The first is Wild Passions by Kate Douglas. Meg Bonner is getting married to the man of her dreams but she doesn't feel worthy of his love. Meg and her freinds book a week at Feral Passions as a pre-wedding trip. The men of Feral Passions are a group of hot werewolves that are searching for their mates.

I don't know who is luckier, the men of Feral Passions or the women. This was a fun romp with hot men and hotter sex. The only thing that would have made this novel better was if Meg's fiancee Zach was one of the pack that was living in the human world. Kind of sad that her friends get an extra long life and Meg doesn't. I loved how this novel was multi-cultural.

The second novel is Her Perfect Mates by A. C. Arthur. While the first novel was all sunshine happy shifter, this novel was the dark, brooding shifter. It was marvelous. Malec Zenta and Channing Verdi are two betas in a pack. They have different backgrounds but are best friends and love sharing women. A human vet has entered Malec's life when a mysterious person starts killing innocent animals. Caroline Douglas had a rough childhood and young adulthood. She is a survivor, a strong woman that was meant for two betas.

I have always loved Greek mythology and this book was perfect. I loved the characters when they were introduced in Volume 1. This is a marvelous continuation of the story. Malec and Channing are smoking hot and night and day from each other. I loved the play between the guys and Caroline. This was a marvelous continuation.

Wild Passions 3.5 stars

I felt i came into this story midway, as some of the characters that were being mentioned at the beginning already had their stories, so it made no sense to me. I however carried on and treated this story as it's own and disregarded the previous mates.
Feral Passions a resort ran by shifters in the hopes of catching their mates. With a bacholerette party coming the men have a chance to find their mates and surprisingly all but one happen to do this. This was fast paced, the stories for each couple happened in this story so it felt a bit rushed, but I guess that's what you get for mates. The characters were interesting enough and I would read more of this author.

Her Perfect mates

A different take on the shifters in this book and where they come from lingers in the background of this book. Again as I haven't read the first in this , I was not sure about Blaez and Kira and their story and how he figured out in the whole myth thing going on. This focused on the relationship between Malec, Channing(shifters)and Caroline a human. With something killing animals and dropping them at Caroline's Vet practice, she seeks out Malec, the man who dropped off the first animal, only to discover there is much more at play than she knows. There are a few areas in the story where i though Malec was a bit offputting or his reasoning was just crap, and it didn't make sense.
There is lots of Steamy scenes in this book, so if that's what you are after then it's for sure a good read.

My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

This collection was just "OK" for me.

Feral Passions by Kate Douglas

I didn't really care for this one. When I first started reading this one I thought it was leading me to focus on Trak as the main character. I was thinking he was going to be paired with Meggie and maybe even Zach. Then it switched to a different point of view. And then another. And another. There were NINE points of view to follow. In a novella. That was 5 or 6 more than I needed. Aside from being totally confusing, it seemed more like an excuse for a whole bunch of couples to be having sex every other page. Which has its time and place sometimes but I was in the mood to have some plot to go along with the sex. And to top it all off, the character I was most interested in, Trak, didn't even get paired off with anyone.

Her Perfect Mates by A.C. Arthur

This one was better. It had a more solid plot (although some of the Lycan/Greek mythology stuff was a bit goofy). I like the characters, especially Malec, who had such a tortured soul. Although things between Malec, Channing, and Caroline moved quickly they didn't immediately fall in to bed which was nice. The sexual tension was allowed to build. I think my biggest problem was that there was way, WAY, too much internal dialogue. It made the story drag in some places.

Can't say I'll be picking up the next volume in this series.

One fun read followed by a meh read.

Wild Passions Kate Douglas

Four friends head to Feral Passions Resort for Meg's bachelorette party, and it just so happens that the resort is run by lusty male werewolves looking for their mates. So Wild Passions is actually four stories in one as you follow the paranormal erotic adventures of Darian, Elle, and Julie (with a subplot involving the bride-to-be Meg).

At first it can be a bit taxing trying to keep track of all the characters, especially when you have werewolves named Trak and Tuck. Btw, I laughed out loud when I saw one of the werewolves was named "Dr. Kentucky Jones"; that's when I knew this was going to be fun. After a while, the characters' stories started to fall in place and ultimately almost everyone got themselves a HEA. It reminded me of those old episodes of The Love Boat where multiple guest stars got a HEA within the span of an hour-long episode; only instead of D-list actors, the players here are kinky, polyamorous werewolves. Like you do.

Her Perfect Mates A.C. Arthur

Boring and convoluted, with Greek mythology and prophecies and secrets muddled together. I was bored and found myself skimming to the end.

4 stars for Wild Passions + 2 stars for Her Perfect Mates = 3 stars.

Note: I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wild Passions by Kate Douglas

Feral Passions has turned into a runaway success. The guys may have started it as a way to meet potential mates, but it has been way more successful, With lots of the guys not happily mated in various forms, they are wondering what to do with the place once they all find someone.

Meg is about to marry the perfect guy, if she could just over the feeling of impending doom she has! She knows he loves her but she can't help feeling that she is just not good enough for him! her friends take her off to the resort and try to determine what is bringing their friend down. When they arrive they all seem irresistibly drawn to one of the men who greet them. meg is left in the capable care of Trax and realises he has been left babysitting the only woman not in the mood for an affair.

Trax and the rest of the pack want a mate but it's hard to find the one when you can't tell them that you go all hairy on occasion! but as the girls settle in they all naturally pair off, and in one case triple off.

The story is a great mix of friendship, passion, adventure and new beginnings. Meg and her fiancée are brought together in somewhat perilous circumstances and it's really nice to say the platinic love that blossoms between Trax and Meg. The resorts future also gets sorted out and the nasty poachers that have been encroaching are brought to justice. Well satisfying read!!

Wowza! This book, which contains two separate novellas, is crazy steamy! I like the hot and spicy stuff in my romance novels, but this was more than even I typically read! Once the bumping and grinding started, it was no holds barred.

I found it difficult to really connect with the first story, Wild Passions. There were so many story arcs and characters to follow. I couldn't get a good sense of who anyone really was. And like I said...so much sex. The sex took away from the actual story. I need a solid plot to really like a book.

I wasn't sure it was possible, but there's even less story in the second book, Her Perfect Mates, than the first! Tons of ménage lovin', which I typically think is delicious, but the characters hardly left the damn bedroom!

Honestly, I'm finding it hard to find things to say about these stories. I'm so bogged down by the bedroom antics that everything else just kinda fades into the background. There's no doubt that these are super hot shifter books! And if you like your romance with more sex than actual romance, this might be for you! The one thing that did work for me was that they were fast reads. If you're looking for something to get your heart racing but you don't have a lot of time to devote to a book, give this one a try!

I was intrigued by the synopsis for Wild Passions, and I found an atypical story that was rather captivating. Rather than telling the story of just one couple, Wild Passion tells the story of four couples – four women that come to the lodge and their significant other they already have or they find while on their getaway. Each chapter flips back and forth between each woman, giving another glimpse into her story.

I loved this format – it was innovative and different from most of the other romances I’ve read. It leant itself well to the storyline since so much of the story itself dealt with one character figuring out one thing, while another was doing something else.

I loved all four women – they are people I’d love to have as friends! Social and personable, the women were all diverse and all were not afraid to go after what they wanted, even though some needed some encouragement at first.

I would be interested in checking out more from this series! There are a few guys left… and there’s one trio that has already been settled in the first book, and I want to check it out!

Wild Passions by Kate Douglas
Meg is about to marry her boss and fiancee Zach. Off on a weekend with her best girl friends, Meg is questioning if she is she should marry Zach. She meets Trak who is the Alpha of werewolves who run a resort.

Plenty of romance and I liked Meg's storyline. I thought the emotions swirling around her had a lot of merit. Hot hot hot read.

Her Perfect Mates by A.C. Arthur
Lycan Malec Zenta can't get Dr. Caroline Douglas out of his mind, they met when he dropped a harmed animal at her clinic. However Malec doesn't sleep with humans, and the women he does sleep with always is part of a menage with Channing Verdi. When Caroline is put in danger, Malec wants her close but his past is preventing him from seeing what is right in front of him.

Highly entertaining. Malec is fighting his feelings for Caroline and it causes him to be gruff. Channing senses that Caroline is important and is trying to smooth things between the three of them. Definitely picking more books up from both authors.

3.5 Stars--In Wild Passions by Kate Douglas was just an okay read for me. It has a sweet, fun and sexy tone but just didn’t seem to have the normal passion that you get when you read one of this author’s books. You have six women-closer than sisters who head off for a fun filled exclusive mountain weekend to a resort where there are hot male werewolves. Storyline is fast paced and switches back and forth between characters with a lot to keep up with, like who is with who while dealing with the brides insecurity issues and doubts on getting married.

4 Stars--In Her Perfect Mates by A. C. Arthur: To be perfectly honest, I really enjoyed this story better than the first one. The storyline had more action, drama and the chemistry between Caroline, Malec and Channing was hot and seemed way less mechanical. You get a true connection between all three characters that was more than a just romp in the bedroom. Overall a pretty good read. Received an ARC copy from netgalley for a honest review.
