Metal dragons. Motorcycles. Cake. Ancient oracles. Wannabe kings. More haircuts. More kissing. Pink pants. Blatant disregard for fire safety. Napkins. Magic nuns. Betrayal. Etc.
Wow! I was hopeful that this 2nd book would do the first justice - and holy cow it did! The characters and storyline progress in really interesting ways that still stay true to the original book. CANNOT WAIT for the 3rd book! Love love love.
2024 Edit-It has officially been 6 YEARS since book 3 was promised “in 2018 barring natural disasters, impending apocalypses or unforeseen obstacles” and while 2020 did hold the first two, I have to assume unforeseen obstacles to be the cause. This book was such a lifeline I remember reading it nonstop in my new middle school before I made any friends. I did make so many incredible friends, many of whom I’ve made read this book, and now 6 years later I am about to graduate high school, and there is still no book. I’m older than Wallis, who at one point I thought was the coolest girl ever. At this point I would love even a short story to wrap up where we left off. I just think it’s important for all authors to know that commercial success is not an indicator of personal impact in one’s life, and even though I may be the only The Last Beholder fan in 2024, I’m still waiting.
2018 Ellie-Maybe even better than the first? Possibly. It had lots of emotions which I loved in the first, great story, fun atmosphere. The only thing I disliked was there not being a third yet.
I blazed through both Bring and Gather, and now I am dying for the next one to come out. The character development is fantastic, and I can't stop recommending this series to all of my friends. A note to the authors: Hurry! 2018 is so far away... Definitely pick this up. You won't be disappointed.
