Kindle Scout winner! Will be published by Kindle Press

Werewolves are real and they dwell in Scotland; vampires are also real and they are everywhere, and Natalie has. no. idea. Natalie is having the worst day. She lost a promotion to the CEO's son's bit of fluff, then she finds that same bit of fluff in her boyfriend's bed. She realizes two things: she's unhappy and she hates accounting. Her dad is ill, she has the headache from Hell, and all she wants is a stiff drink. That decision is going to lead to much worse.

At the bar, Gavin meets Natalie. She's been drinking her troubles away for hours and jumps on the chance to have one reckless night with a stranger, then slips away in the morning. Three months later, she realizes she's pregnant. What she doesn't realize is that she is the salvation for an entire species battling extinction.

(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Kindle Scout.)

This was a paranormal story, but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting.

It took me a long time to warm to the characters in this book; they just irritated me a bit, and Natalie came across as a bit immature at times. I’m also not sure what she thought a tetanus shot would do to protect her from a vampire bite.

The storyline in this wasn’t what I was expecting, and it wasn’t YA (which it was listed as on Kindle Scout). Instead of a paranormal romance, we got a woman falling unexpectedly pregnant following a one-night-stand, only to then get kidnapped by vampires, and rescued by werewolves (it turned out the man she got pregnant by was a werewolf). The pace in this then slowed down quite a bit, and I lost interest, especially as I didn’t find as much romance in here as I’d hoped.

The ending to this was a huge cliff-hanger, although I was glad that we got to see the birth of the baby.

This book, at first, had me questioning whether it was vampires, bear shifters or wolf shifters.......leaving me to realise after a few chapters that it was wolves and vampires. From there onwards the story was interesting and even though I found some of the characters frustrating, I found I quite enjoyed it

Natalie has a really bad day, Her best friend convinces her to go out for a night of fun to take her mind off of it. She ends up having an one night stand. She wants to forget it, but he seems to have a different plan. Then things start getting weirder and even worse.

This is a fun paranormal romance with a good touch of fantasy adventure. But the characters can be annoying at times. Natalie's friends and family treat her like she is made of glass. Natalie has a tendency to not face her problems but instead just makes the same complaint over and over.

The story also seemed to have identity problems. It couldn't seem to decie if it wanted to be a romance or adventure. The two elements clashed more than they meshed.

But despite these problems, I ended up liking the characters and enjoying the story. It was a clean romance without any graphic sex scenes (or graphic violence for that matter).

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Book was given to me by kindle scout. First time reading anything from this author. Loved the beginning, but soon got annoyed with the h and her constant complaining despite the H trying to keep her safe. Would've loved to had more details of her family, maybe some history from her father, maybe a rescue by him. Nope! Then the final nail in the coffin...! A flippin' cliffhanger. I am really so over the whole tendency of authors writing cliffies. By the time the sequel comes out I will have forgotten all about this book

I can't continue reading this beacon of abuse disguised as romance.
While I've read some other borderline books, that I excused for being fantasy or misunderstandings of a moment. This one just rubbed me wrong.

total bomb of spoilers!!!!!!!!!

- gets unknowing girl pregnant on first try, while using condom(s). Al the while you know that she WILL get pregnant
- run out on one night stand on the basis of texts you shouldn't have read in the first place.
- not warn girl that she is in danger but threaten her instead. Drag her out of store and then get angry that she doesn't want to go with you.
- safe the girl who has been tortured for some time, but let her walk out of the cave she's been held. Not to mention that she shouldn't be able to walk after what you described she went through.
- DICTATE that your "mate" who doesn't know, you and who you don't know, that she is moving halfway across the world. That she can't have male friends. Let her thank you because she MAY call to her family
- when she expresses her unwillingness to stay with you, tie her hands with tie-wraps.
- make your "heroine" feel sorry for wanting a choice!

ugh! I can go on but won't, this book really made me sick, deleted it off my kindle. wish I could get a refund.

It was ok for me. I received a free e-copy of the book in the Kindle Scout program when nominating the book, which was selected for publication. The excerpt for the story was so intriguing, but the whole book left me with many more questions, especially why the need for a book 2 and the cliffhanger. Most the middle to the book which dragged on could have been eliminated. We know Natalie has no inkling about her mixed heritage, how did her father pull that off and her sibling never have any insight into what they are. Characters we are introduced to in the beginning of the book like Nat's brothers and bestfriend are so likeable and then they drop off never to be heard about again as if two different books are introduced. I didn't care for most of Natalie's rude obnoxious behavior with Gavin and then full about face at the end of this first book. The last 20 or so pages were actually very good, but I don't know if I care enough about the characters to find out how it gets resolved with the various otherworld creatures.

I loved Gavin's Scottish accent. I can see why Natalie loved that about him. I also enjoyed Nats and Megan's friendship the score card was hilarious but showed a lot of commitment for both of them. She was definitely Nats rock. I did miss this comradery in the later parts of the book. I felt sorry for Gavin when Natalie and he clashed. I understood the trouble Nat had with Gavin, because when you are raised to be a strong, stubborn, independent woman it's very hard for you to let someone else make all the decisions in a relationship for you. Plus she became very isolated from her support system of her brother, dad and Megan. Of course only thing I didn't like was cliffhanger but I will say that you placed it in a perfect spot at least we know they are together. I can't wait to find out where Hawke and Liam went and how Gavin and Nat faired.

This story wasn't bad, but it could have been much better without all of Natalie's reflections about Gavin in the beginning. She thought the same things, only with different words. The story began to become more interesting when they arrived back in Scotland. I think if it had been condensed, it could have been made into one book, and not left readers with a cliffhanger.

Interesting premise, but it lost my interest quickly. And I hate cliffhangers! This story could have been edited better and much cleaner and one complete story to much greater effect. I received a copy of this as part of the Kindle Scout program.

From the opening through about the first 20%, the story is very predictable, and through the first 27% of the book, it reads as chick lit instead of paranormal romance. While the hero has made two quick appearances by the 27% mark in the book, there is no indication he is to be the hero of the story. A quarter of the way through a romance story is way too long for the reader to know who the hero will be. In fact, as of the same point, it is not even a paranormal romance yet.

This would have been so much better if Gaven's point of view had been included. So many things regarding Gaven left unsaid/unexplained could have been revealed to the reader through his point of view.

Written in first person present tense (Ack! Just kill me now.)

The heroine is such a drama queen. And most of the time, she is a spoiled, delusional brat who insists on staying in denial. Her continued insistence that her daddy will fix everything is juvenile.

For me, the vampire abduction scene gets too close to the absurd in its handling. It should have been terrifying, but alas, no.

The kicker for me is the cliffhanger ending. The story isn't long enough, in my opinion, to require the story to end when it does. To be fair, the author does apologize at the end of the story in a note to the reader.

There are several proofreading issues - needs one more proofreading round to find those last pesky word choice errors, grammar slips, and missing words.

Now having pointed all this out, I'm still giving this three stars because it did keep me entertained, if not irritated, enough to continue to read and be outraged when the story ended where it did.

I was provided a copy of this book by the Kindle Scout program.
