Frenzy #3

Frequency

Rate this book
When the Infected attacked, something horrific happened to Porschia Grant. Porschia in Frenzy was scary; Porschia with hallucinations is terrifying. There has to be a reason, and there must be a cure for the episodes refusing to release her from their tentacles of insanity.
Saul is in the center of the city surrounded by secrets–some are damning, some are eye opening—others might just offer hope and be worth fighting for. How can a person justify the possibility of infecting another human being? What might the humans and night-walkers lose if he doesn’t take the chance?
The decisions made, and the lies uncovered, will shock everyone in and around Blackwater, and they just might spark a revolution.
Everything emits a sound… and hunger is deafening… horrible.

RONE Award-winning author Casey Bond lives on a rural farm in West Virginia with her husband and their two beautiful daughters. She writes phoenixes – gloriously flawed and morally gray characters that fiercely rise from the ashes of their circumstances.

Worldbuilding is one of her favorite pastimes. She thinks thunderstorms are better than coffee and that watching a meteor shower is the closest thing to magic you might ever see. She’s a firm believer that every amazing book needs a world you want to wrap yourself in, a character you want to win, and a love you would fight for.

Casey is the author of When Wishes Bleed, Gravebriar, House of Eclipses, and Where Oceans Burn.

I've been avoiding books that are part of a series for a while now, I got bored of having the story dragged out over 4 or 5 books. But the description of this one and the shorter length of the first book, had me making an exception.

Normally I need romance and sex in my books to really enjoy them (I'll make no excuses, I'm a certified perv),but the world, story and questions Casey L.Bond has woven together over these books have been worth going without it. In fact, sex wouldn't have fit in here (so far at least). You do get a very mild amount of romance in the background of these books, but it's behind all the other goings on. It's still enough to keep you wondering who the heroine will end up with, if anyone, but it's pushed back into the background slightly (especially in the first book).

A lot of questions were resolved in this one, so you could stop reading here and be pretty satisfied with how things are left, the next book seems to be an expansion of the world and getting the word out about a cure for the infection. I'll still read it, because it will nag at me if I don't, but I am wary that it will end up being too drawn out and lack anything new and exciting. We will see.

So if you like books with about life after an apocalyptic event, vampires, 'zombies' and reading about strong heroines, this series is well worth a read.

I am absolutely in love with this series, and this book just up’d my eternal love for the series to the next level. I honestly didn’t think I could love it any more than I already did. But so much happens with everyone, not just Porschia, all throughout the book. There was just so much to take in: secrets, romance, change! So much change!!

Even though it seems like the series is coming to a close with FREQUENCY, there is still 3 more books left in the series with a lot that still needs to be told. And with 3 books left, that leaves a lot of time for stuff to go wrong. I am eager to start the next book and see what else is going to happen. I only hope that my heart can take it. I fear heartbreak my be around the next corner...or page.

FREQUENCY delivered more fabulous writing from Bond and another intriguing plot that had me once again at the edge of my seat. I cannot say enough good things about this series. It is definitely a must read!! Another 5 Stars!!

The third audiobook in this dystopian urban fantasy series continues the story from where book two left off. Porschia is sick and is having terrible hallucinations but no one knows why, or how to make her better. Saul is now one of the infected and has been taken to the city by Roman’s brother, and the treaty between the night walkers and the colony has collapsed. This fast-paced story takes you on a journey filled with surprises, revelations, twists, loss and hope. Many truths are uncovered, hearts are broken, love is both lost and found and the series takes a turns that you won’t see coming. I really enjoyed the changes in the characters and the mixture of emotions that the narrator portrayed well. You could really feel the sorrow, fear, shock and hope in this story right along with the characters. I will look forward to seeing what comes next.

This book!!!
Each book in this series has pulled me in further & further. I am completely obsessed at this point. These characters have continued to grow ensuring I needed more...more...more. Surprisingly their story has taken a completely different direction than I believed it would. What an exciting adventure we are now on. Frequency is my favorite of this series, so far! It was even better than I hoped it would be!
Frenzy is exactly how I feel while engulfed in this world. I want to know what’s coming, the uncertainty of feelings that will follow a bit frantic. I am super excited to see what happens in book 4!

.....aaaaand third try is a resounding "nope." Read about 1/4 of this installment, skimmed the rest hoping for things to get more interesting and for Porschia to stop being such a whiny brat. Nope. Didn't happen. It did become glaringly obvious that this series was meant for a more Y.A. than adult audience. I wish author's included a note to this effect in their synopses.

Not what I hoped. Too bad. Tage had potential. No idea why Roman had the rep he started out with. His badassery fell so fucking flat. I give up

Oh my. Where do I begin? Book 3 has been very enlightening on the inner workings of the colony, the Elders, Night walkers, and Infected. The sneaky, conniving, underhandness of it all. They are all bastards! The whole lot. Except Tage. Had you told me in Book 1 that Tage would be the hero of the story I would have called you a liar. Bravo Casey!!! You took a deplorable character, redeemed him, and made me love him. That takes skill. You have mad skills Casey Bond!

It's midnight and I just finished this book but all I can think is wow. Casey could have ended the series right now, tied it up in a little bow. I have a feeling there's more to Romans story and there was no big war no blood shed (maybe I just watch too much Game of Thrones) so I must read on....

omg. I love how when one thing happens. It just doesn't affect the main character and all you hear is about how they see and feel. I love the different perspectives, although I tend to hate it, but this series is perfect for.

This was a quick paced read. I think this was the highest point of the series thus far. Lots of discoveries and secrets in this one. I love how the vampirism and infected effect one another lots of entertainment.

I can't. Porschia is brainwashed by her mother, and this book pushes way too hard on the fact that you can't abandon your mom. Newsflash, you can and in this case should have.
She is dumb and selfish and frankly, I'm with Saul.
I also will not be reading any more in this series.

Great book

The infected and nightwalkers face off again with Portia and Mercedes right in the middle of it. Do the sisters make up before they kill each other?

Compelling

As far as vampire books are concerned, this one deserves some attention. Great characters and a side to vampirism often entertained by authors.

My Thoughts:

As anyone who follows this blog will well know, I am a huge Casey L. Bond fan. Admittedly, I haven't read her entire backlog and just recently jumped on board the Bond Bandwagon, but even based on the few works I have devoured, I can say with confidence that she's one of the most talented writers I've worked with as of late. Her stories are full of gripping emotion and such vivid plots and settings that really leave a lasting impression on the mind of her readers.

I have to say, of all the reviews I have written for Casey's books, this one here has proven to be the most difficult. How do you adequately interpret all these feels without spoiling the novel for new readers? Well, I'm honestly not sure I can, but doggone it, I'm going to try.

Frequency was everything I wanted from the third installment in this incredible series, but the funny thing is that I didn't realize it until after I read it. It's near-perfect. Continuing the gripping plotline she crafted in books one and two, the stakes are higher than ever now that Portia is fresh out of Frenzy and attempting to setting into a life as the one thing she's feared her entire life long. The nightwalkers have claimed Portia as their own after her own community abandoned her without a second glance. But with some digging and some hard-hitting questions, Portia learns the hard way that there's much more to the story than what the Elders of Blackwater let on. Can Portia uncover the secrets in time to save those she loves?

I can't say much more because OH BOY huge spoilers, but let's just say that Casey blew the doors on the genre fresh off their hinges. You will not see this plot twist coming from a mile away. Think you know Blackwater? Think again. But vamps aren't the only paranormal in town, what of Mercedes and the Infected, long-feared? Is there redemption for the Infected? Will there be hope for Saul, Portia's once love?

Readers everywhere are going to want to grab the tissues for this one, because the feels are real. Casey holds nothing back and delivers several emotional blows that really help to ground this story into a reality that's terrifying, but relatable, on multiple levels.

Much like the previous novels, each chapter is told from an alternative POV, but this time definitely holds some twists as well. With new characters' insight to the madness, Bond is able to further envelope us into the world she has so delicately crafted. Bond's writing transcends the boundaries of paranormal literally, leaving readers with minds blown and hearts full.

As I mentioned in my reviews for both books one and two, Bond really challenges the conventions of the genre with each installment. It's so much more than what you see on the surface and that in itself will leave you with so many questions at the end of the novel. Questions that will leave you pondering everything you thought you knew about the genre and leave you begging for more!

I have to say that the ending to Frequency was probably one of my favorite scenes that Bond has written to-date. After so much heart stopping action and emotion, Bond leaves you hanging on to each and every word, anxiously awaiting the finale. I was definitely not disappointed. Bond left the door wide open for the world that she has created and I know she will continue to shatter our realities with each passing installment.

I know I've left a lot of vagueness in this review, with good reason. Any fan of Bond or the paranormal genre is definitely going to need to grab a copy of Frequency themselves to see what becomes of the Grant family, Blackwater, and the creatures that lurk in the surrounding forest. It's not to be missed!

All of this being said, it should come as absolutely no surprise that I am granting Frequency by Casey L. Bond a near-perfect 5-star review. I'd have to say that this has been my favorite series of 2016 thus far and I can't speak highly enough of it. A perfect read for fans of New Adult, Paranormal, or anyone looking to shake up their TBR with something a little different. Add this incredible series to your TBR today!

Frequency by Casey L. Bond is the third book in the Frenzy series. As this is the only book I have read in this series, this review is based solely on this book. I’m pretty sure reading the first two books would help me to understand what is happening in Frequency, but it did not distract from the story. In fact, I want to go back and grab the first two books just so I can see how these characters ended up where they are in Frequency.
This is a story of vampires and zombies, or the Infected and Night-Walkers. Each bringing nightmares to reality, the leaders of the two are in desperate search for a cure. In Frequency it is important to know the following:
Saul is now Infected
Roman is the Night-Walker
Pierce is the Infected
Porschia is a hybrid of the two
Tage (Tage! *Swoon*) is a night walker
All of these characters create an outstanding cast against a war-torn world. Each person has an inner battle that they must overcome. Each moment is defining. But there is a fourth kind of moment: the kind that seems as though it’s happening at a snail’s pace, but in reality is a building wave, ready to crash over you and speed you into a new phase of your life. I was trapped in the fourth kind of moment. Slow but fast. Agonizing but all-consuming.
These are the moments that define this book. The fourth kind of moments. Porschia and Saul are ripped apart during one of these moments. While Saul is gone, Tage is there to help Porschia through the changes that are happening in her life (and from what I can gather, he has always been there for her). When this book comes to a head and things begin to unravel, yet weave together, the options placed before them are life-changing.
I fed.
I poisoned.
I healed.
I cried.
A lot.
Tage stood beside me.

One by one, I fed from them.
One by one, they thrashed and screamed.
One by one, they cried.
One by one they thanked me.
One by one they broke me.
One by one they put me back together.
 Tage stood beside me.

Frequency is the 3rd book in the Frenzy series and boy was it good. After reading the first two books, I was already addicted to the series and to my yummy book boyfriend Tage. Author Casey L. Bond has a hit with this series for sure. Not only did I get vampires, but infected zombie like creatures too. Yes!

The story continued right where we left off in book two. I was on the edge of my seat and even a few curse words may have flown out of my mouth. The action was immediate and my emotions were all over the place. Characters I thought I understood and hated, revealed their true motives and shockingly vice versa for other characters. I was shocked on more than one occasion when the author took the story in a direction I never seen coming. Fantastic!

To say I love this series is an understatement. It freaking rocks! I cannot wait to see what the author has planned for book 4. One thing I've learned about Casey's work is that I never know where her beautifully twisted mind will take her characters. As always, I'm sure it will be a journey to remember.

My favorite quote from Frequency by none other than my Tage: "Daddy likes to spank. Be careful, kitten." Cocky and so darn droolworthy.

If you haven't started this series, I don't know what you're waiting for. I highly recommend you grab a copy of all three books and dive in.

This is book three in the Frenzy series! We start right where we left off...

Porschia is heartbroken after what happened at the end of book two, plus she's dangerously sick and no one knows how to help her. Saul is in the city with all the other infected trying to figure his new life out...

I nodded and he pulled me into his chest. “You did the right thing, kitten.”
If he was right, if I really did do the right thing, then why did it feel so wrong?

We meet the leader of the infected who has a very interesting connection to one of the Night-Walkers. We see what he has been trying to accomplish...finding a cure. Is this even possible?!

We see a side of Saul I wasn't expecting either...is the infection taking over his mind? Has he always been like this? What will Porschia think of him now?

I pulled her into a hug. “I know, and I’m so sorry, Porsch.” Stroking her hair, I let her hold tightly to me, calming herself until the storm passed. She swiped the bloody tears from beneath her eyes. “Sorry. I just...it’s hard to cope with.”

So much happens in this installment! We learn so many things about so many people. There are a few twists that I never saw coming!

Will there ever be a cure? How will that effect Porschia? How will it affect her relationship with Saul? With Tage? How will it affect the colony?

If you have not read Frenzy or Frantic book by Casey L. Bond I highly recommend that you DO, LIKE NOW!

They are so UNIQUE! I mean who put's Vampires(Nightwalkers) with Zombies(Infected) and blows your mind on how they get along, or don't or maybe mix them into one person? The only person willing to do this and write the books I can think of is MRS Casey Bond! She did it and it is Bloody BRILLIANT!

The Characters are so developed, and the roller coaster of events are so fantastic that I don't even know where to begin.

The Heroine (Porschia) is both Nightwalker and Infected by this point and her at one point main love interest (Saul) is now Infected(or is he?), but is in with the wrong crowd in the city and trying to make things right to win her heart back even though she is in love with a Nightwalker (Tage), OH never-mind, Just read the book! SOOO much in there that you will need to read it to understand how they communicate, how they can feel, and how Porschia is both! BUT I am warning you..Start off with the first book! And be ready to be BLOWN away because some Frequencies are Deafening and this one is about to make your ears bleed!

Casey L. Bond never disappoints with her books. Go grab them, any of them now! I know you won't be disappointed, young and adult a like!

I have so enjoyed this series by Casey L. Bond, and “Frequency” didn’t disappoint.

Normally, I have no problem with gross scenes, but the few included in this installment in the Infected and Night-Walkers drama did turn my stomach. They were visually dynamic and gag-inducing.

The characters make this series so awesome. Porschia continues to become stronger and self-assured. She makes a serious discovery, thanks to none other than Roman, and embraces a brighter future. Tage is a great guy. I didn’t start out liking him, but he is a steadfast and true. Someone you want to be in your corner. Bond wove in some surprises with Mercedes and Roman.

I have to admit I was not pleased with how Saul’s story evolved. I commend Bond for once again weaving in a little scriptural reference. Saul, the prophet, believed his actions were the right thing. The same can be said for Bond’s character. He stuck by his beliefs throughout the story. When given the chance to deviate, he didn’t. He accepted his fate.

The theme for this series can be found in “Frequency”—mankind’s propensity for embracing the dark side and greed will lead to self-destruction. It’s only through cooperative efforts can evil be vanquished. Wow…

Another great book. I can’t wait to read another one by Bond!

At least this one didn't have a cliffhanger ending! I see some people calling for a book 4, but I felt that his was a conclusion and the story is now done. I did enjoy this series and this book wrapping things up. Like the ending of book 1, book 2 left readings dangling, and again, I wasn't sure I was happy about the twist. Here in book 3, we have Mercedes POV introduced, so the infected must not be mindless zombies as we and the townspeople have been lead to believe.

I've read a couple other books where the reader gets the POV of a vampire or zombie ... experiencing the change from human to this other form. It's always interesting and was effective here.

I wasn't sure if I really bought into the whole Roman/Pierce/Elders conspiracy. And also, I struggled a bit with Porschia and the town being so absolutely unforgiving of Saul, when Porschia is willing to forgive her mother for her mistreatment her entire life, and for the murders of Meg and other innocents. Everyone is also willing to forgive Roman, who has shed his share of blood. Is what Saul did so wrong or different? Poor Saul ...

I did really like the consistency of the covers and titles too ;)

Frequency sums so much up! From the start you're so intently into the book you don't notice it's lunch time and your kids are begging to be fed. All neglecting aside, I couldn't put the book down. So much jaw dropping and wanting to fling the kindle across the room! Well played, Casey L. Bond and the reason we are you to pieces!

One would think it is the cliché vampire but they are so much more. Roman has a plot and we finally figure out what it is. Hearts are broken, new ones forged, suspense, just a mixture of emotions all into one book of epicness! Must read Frenzy and Frantic before Frequency! It is worth the read, trust me!

Part of me is sad that I finished the book so quickly and have to wait, yet again. I am so impatient, but Casey's books are worth it. Proud of you babe. You didn't disappoint and thank you for letting me be part of your street team! Always here to support and cheer you on ❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️

The Frenzy series should be read in order. I absolutely loved this series. It is has a different take on vampire and zombie type books I have read. The Frenzy series is a refreshing take on paranormal books. This book is fast paced and keeps you on your toes where you can't turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens next. I love the suspense that is carried throughout the series. The Characters are all full of surprises and you never know where the journey is going to take you until WHAM, then the OMG, Then the overall feeling of complete awesomeness hits you. I have to admit that Tage's character is definitely one of my favorite book boyfriends - you have to read the series to see why!!! Casey L. Bond is such an amazing writer. Her ability to create a world where you could actually feel every emotion and imagine that the place exists from her amazing setting and writing in the story has you imagining that it could be real is incredible! I want more Frenzy!
