In book one of Black Hawk Kane “Speed” Weston, after leaving the military, returns to Black Hawk MC, the club he grew up in, the only family he has left. With his father’s spot open, he prepares to fill the position. What he finds upon his return, the military nor the MC could have prepared him for. Sami Borelli was raised in an MC. With her father being the president of the club, she’d been referred to as princess, feeling anything but. Sami moved to Black Hawk territory when her father’s club faced internal problems, turning her into a liability instead of an asset. She met a man at a club party who changed her life, but when she went back, he was gone, only to return years later with no memory of her while she remembered everything about him. The sons of Black Hawk MC are home and ready to take the places within the club they were groomed for. What they were never taught was how to handle losing their hearts.
Carson Mackenzie enjoys writing romance with a real feel inside the stories. She writes with the belief not every man is a jerk and not every woman needs saving.
Carson lives in the South with her son, a Great Dane and two adopted shelter dogs that keep the household in line. Books have always been a part of her life. There is nothing better to her than curling up and relaxing with a good story and losing herself in someone else’s world for a few hours.
Writing stories and growing as an author with each book is her goal. She wants to reach the level where a reader knows when they see her name on a cover, they can trust in the fact there will be a good story as they flip through the pages.
Carson’s journey into writing has only been for a few years. As she’s finally starting to settle in, she can’t believe she waited so long to start.
I took a chance on an author who is relatively new and unfamiliar to me and I’m excited to say it paid off! I’m going to say this one was biker lite since there was no grit to it at all. The bikers do act like bikers with strippers and club whores but that’s about the extent of it. I do think some action may be coming in the future but this book was mainly relationship driven.
Sami is a club princess from a different club but who has been sent into the Black Hawk’s territory for safety reasons due to some pretty major internal issues at her father’s club. When she first arrived, she visited the Black Hawk’s clubhouse with a couple of her new friends mainly to be around something familiar. Her and Speed, who is on leave from the military, hit it off immediately and end up in the sack before even catching each other’s names which is unusual for her. Speed heads out the very next day. A few years down the road he returns to a completely changed club plus he learns that Sami is now the manager of the MC’s strip club. Although she works for them, she isn’t part of the MC. She returned to the clubhouse once but learned that Speed was gone so she stayed away.
One reason why I liked this book so much was the fact that both main characters were mature. No back and forth overwrought angst, the characters had adult reactions to adult situations, no OTT ridiculous fights, it was refreshing. Sami was doing well, especially considering her circumstances. She had kept a secret for a while, but I completely got why and when it came time to come clean she was formulating a plan to do just that. As for Speed, he was a typical OTT biker who was single-minded in his pursuit once he decided what he wanted.
There were a lot of characters to keep track of, but I liked all of them and found myself hoping to see several of them get books of their own. There was also a lot of time spent with the MC getting us a good overview of club politics, which I loved. My main complaint is I wanted more. Although I loved the story of Speed and Sami’s relationship, I wanted more forward movement on the mystery surrounding what happened to Speed’s Dad. I’m guessing this will play out in future books, but it just felt like unfinished business here. The setup for the next book felt a little cliffhanger-ish, but I decided to ignore that.
Crusher and Carly’s book is next. Speed and Sami left big shoes to fill as main characters and it will be interesting to see if Ms. Mackenzie can impress me again!
This had potential but it was so freaking slow. The H/h had an unremarkable one night stand that the Hero didn’t even remember. The heroine got preggy and fast forward 5 yrs before they met again. They only got to know each other again at around 60% of the book. The first part of the book was all bout Speed (H) and the book even had more mentions of smexy times with ow than smexy times with the heroine.
This was a good read for me. Strong heroine, strong hero, good story line but it was only 3 stars for me. I felt the book could have been stronger in a few areas.
I felt that the book zeroed in on the sex scenes between Sami and Speed but I didn't feel the connection between the two intellectually. It kind of just skimmed over that. So, when they do say "I love you", I honestly don't feel the connection. I think it could have been stronger in that area.
Also, there was a lot of info that was reiterated and there were a lot of other characters in the book. Actually too many characters to the point that I had to keep stopping and try to remember who's who in the book.
It also seemed like the book ended abruptly. Like, there was so much time spent on the beginning and middle of the book and then the ending was just rushed. Something like that....hard trying to explain it.
I also have a feeling I know what Carly found out!!
***SPOILER ALERT***
Well, I guess it's not a spoiler if I'm just assuming right??Lol!! Anyways.... I THINK Carly just found out that Speed is her half brother! Of course I could be wrong, but the evidence in the book is pretty damning!
This is Book 1 in the Black Hawk MC. I loved this book! It’s the first one that I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be my last. I can’t believe that I’ve missed reading her books before. Speed has just buried his father and they are back at the Clubhouse. This is where Sami comes in. He leaves the next morning to go back to his military assignment where’s he’s just re-enlisted. He doesn’t come back for almost 6 years. Then he fins out he has a daughter. The chemistry between Speed and Sami is hotter than the 4th of July. The storyline is fantastic! I highly recommend reading this book. It’s definitely not your typical MC book.
One heck of an amazing read that is a non-stop bundle of suspense! The nail-biting storyline will keep you on edge with anticipation for making the perfect choice and a great HEA! Emotionally engrossing, witty, exciting and enjoyable! Lip-biting hot chemistry! An amazing bad boy must read that will have you rooting for Mr. Right to take a hike!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There were things I enjoyed with this book such as the strong brotherhood, loyalty and interaction between the sons.
There is a fine line between alpha male and asshole male. The way Speed just told Sami what she was going to do and the way she just immediately accepted it all was a bit too much.
So for the first book in a new series, I would have to say this wasn't so bad. It was a fast paced, intriguing read, with very colorful and quite charming characters. I will admit to being slightly confused as it sort of reads as a second, maybe third book in a series but throughout the book the author does explain how this is a first generation MC teaching their second generation the ins, outs and all facets of the club so when they're ready to step down their sons will be ready and more than capable to handle the club and life. I like how all six boys weren't just restricted to the club life though and were given the opportunity to go out and live life, go to college, the military, etc., until they were ready to come back. It was just a funny and unrealistic coincidence that all six original members ended up knocking up six club whores and getting six perfectly perfect little boys...lol. Even if they were tricked by those whores...
Speed and Sami....I loved the fact that it wasn't some insta-love scenario crap! I really fucking hate those! I mean it was kind of fucked up that he didn't remember her but that is reality, sucks but it does happen. Nice that he remembered her but AFTER his friends mentioned him fucking her...that's hilarious and yet he pursued her because he was attracted to her, not because he instantly fell head over heels in love.
I would have liked for the author to delve a little deeper into the mystery surrounding Speed's father's death, as he felt there was more there and from his thoughts and misgivings it seems like his death was no accident but it was mentioned once or twice and that's it. With five fathers and six sons, plus all of the other extra characters there was alot going on this book but nothing to majorly confuse the reader. Very few, if any grammatical errors, again nothing to distract the reader.
It did end in what I like to call a 'slight cliffhanger', which basically means that the story has been told and finished for Speed and Sami but the author was slowly building us up for Crusher and Carly's story throughout the book and at the very end gave us just enough for us to be like WTF just happened and then...nothing...yeah...that kind of ending..that's just fucked up! Now we have to wait for book two so thanks for that!
Overall not a bad start to a new series, though I see the Ops Warriors were mentioned at one point so I'm wondering if they will be making appearances in this series or if this was just something in passing because this series has more than enough characters already!
Yikes. First time reading this author and definitely will be the last. Bare bones this story had potential but the execution was absolutely awful. Complete amateur hour folks. The pacing was super weird and clunky. It didn't flow at all. We spent too much time in the heroes head for the first part of the book. It was nonsense tbh. So much information dumped on us in his POV but then in later chapters the same info is retold differently as if the author forgot they already included the info to begin with.
And don't get me started on the fact we didn't experience the hero and heroines meet/first time sexing or whatever. It was in the prologue but was so convoluted he could've fucked a club hoe and we wouldn't have known the difference, not to mention the sex scene was closed door until the heroine takes a trip down memory lane later in the book in a flashback.
Add in they don't actually meet back up or have a conversation until nearly 60% was completely ridiculous!
So to say I didn't buy their "connection" is understatement of the year. There was literally nothing between them and then bam! Magically they're in love and he's not bothered at all about having a kid and she's moving in yada yada yada.
This was a hot mess and not the entertaining kind. The writing was just bad. Everything was too fast and overly detailed with mundane shit. Honestly I'm surprised I finished it but it was short so whatever. Just didn't like it.
Trigger regarding H with other woman. I'll spoil below if you want to know. HEA with a storyline cliffhanger.
The good: The premise was intriguing and the characters were interesting but....
The bad: The story didn't flow, there were major typos and errors in grammar. The characters don't spend nearly enough time together on page.
I paid full price for this, if the succeeding books were free or on KU I might read.
*******************Trigger Spoiler****************************************** Ok the H & h had a one night stand, he went for another tour of duty and she became pregnant, the story picks up 5 years later. When they finally meet again, he doesn't remember her but he makes a pass. She now manages the MC's strip club. That same night, the H and his 5 friends get it on with a stripper in a back room. She gets if from the front and back by two of them while blowing the rest of them in turn....ewwwwwww. It was gross. This is the only scene of the H with another woman but, THE HELL NO. *************************End**********************
This is a legit, straight MC founded by former military who all end up without old ladies but each has a son from a club whore within months of each other. The sons are now grown and returning from their own tours in the military. It starts with the death of one of the originals. His son is expected to take up his Enforcer position. When he returns home from his third enlistment, things have really changed in the club. But he's in for a bigger surprise. There are no conflicts with other MCs. The H has some questions about his father's solitary motorcycle wreck but the author doesn't get past mentioning it. It's a little hard to get past the crude sex at the beginning and the way the younger guys talk about women but it gets better. There's just not as much depth as I would like to have seen building up this MC. It has potential and I'm curious about the final scene regarding a note so I will probably read the second book when it comes out.
3-3,5* As a german I'm not that perfect in english to talk about grammar and edit stuff. I will let that go leave it to people who are fluent in English. This book had a lot of potential. After reading about 10% I thought this will be a 4* book easily. But the more I read the more it felt very rushed. Nothing went a bit deeper. I was left with a lot of unanswered questions. There was also lot of unrealistic stuff. Like Ally (she's 4!) saying: I knew he was my daddy, because he had my face. He looks like me. Not a single 4 year old would say that.
(I remember that story of 2 kindergarteners, a black and a white boy, best friends. They wished for the same haircut, so the teacher won't be able to tell them apart😅)
Both times Speed met Samy he "takes" her by surprise. First time he thinks she's a club whore. He throws her over his shoulders, fingers her on the way to his room and she's immediately wet. 😵💫. The moment she hits his bed she's willing and they have sex. For real? The second time, 5 years later it is about the same. About 3 minutes after knocking on her door, he's already ramming into her and of course she's loving it. What happened to foreplay? Sweet talk, flirting, petting?
The end felt cut.

Sami had no idea that one night of partying at the local motorcycle clubhouse would change her life. Speed was only in town briefly to bury his dad before heading back overseas on deployment. The moment he set eyes on Sami, he had to have her. Now almost 5 years later, Speed is back for good. Then he sees a little girl in the grocery store with his face. Now he just has to convince her mama that he wants her in his life for always.
I am a big fan of MC romances, can't resist them. I am always on the look out for new ones. I came across this one and had to give Speed a try. I am so glad I did, this book was so much fun! Sami is no pushover and her daughter is an absolute scream! Speed has been footloose and fancy free until he spots Sami and then it is game over. All he wants is her in his bed and his life. The boys in the club are definitely going to get their own books and I cannot wait to get my hands on them. Carson Mackenzie takes all the stuff you love about MC romances and puts a slight spin on it. This made the story fresh and kept me glued to the pages. 5 stars for Speed by Carson Mackenzie!
I might be a little generous with the 3 star rating, but I’m hoping the dryness of this book is more to do with the fact that it seemed to be setting up future books. There was a lot of history and back story, to the point where I felt like the book was more about the MC and less about a romance between Speed and Sami. I mean, the sex scenes were meh. They hook up one night, then years later he comes back and doesn’t recognize her. Throw in a surprise baby that isn’t really a surprise, and all of a sudden they are in love. Yes, she tells us that they spent the first night back together talking in between supposed bouts of sex, but this really lacked any connection between two people supposedly in love in this book. And don’t get me started on the 7-som that got more description in the book than the sex between H/h. I get this was before they are together, but some of the scenes read more like frat guys talking. But I am intrigued enough about Crusher and Carly that I’ll give #2 a shot and hope that by this point the set up has been done in this book and focus can shift to the romance between the two characters.

This is book one in the Black Hawk MC series and it is a great intro to the series. We meet six guys that were all raised by their father's who were all military men before they made Black Hawk MC. Now those six boys are grown men who have served their country and have returned home to take over their positions in the club. This book is Speed and Sami's story. It was the night before Speed's last tour, he had just buried his father, when he seen these green eyes across the room. Yep, she was the one for tonight. Five years later Speed returns from his tour and not only is he given his place in the club as Enforcer but he finds out on all the things he was unaware of while he was gone. This was a great read, I loved the story/intro to the MC, the characters, the humor, the hot and steamy sex and of course can't wait to read about the five other men and the women who steal their hearts.

ONE EXCEPTIONAL READ!!! Wow! Man, talk about two steps up and three steps back. I freaking loved this installment. Sweet heat has nothing on this little jewel. You get it all. A plethora emotions that you have to sort through that really pulls those heartstrings. Surprising circumstances and unexpected events draw you in deeper than you thought you'd ever go. All the drama, intrigue, uncertainty, fear and suspense flows while tension spirals. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches and bumps here and there make one thrilling experience. Secrets are exposed along with mystery that keeps you riveted on the page turning dynamo and on a razors edge. The chemistry between the two main characters was intense and palpable. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this bad boy roaring to life brilliantly. Remarkable job Carson, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
This is a so-so story for me. I say it has a good story line and characters, especially Ally, which is the reason for 1 star (LOL), however, it feels that there's something missing from it. Perhaps, because it is too fast-paced, after knowing he has a daughter, he just decided that the heroine is the love of his life despite forgetting her, and everything goes smoothly especially when he just giver her a lay. It lacks the build up of their relationship, the emotions and connections between Speed and Sami, and history, because I think there could be more that you could played with, given that Sami is the daughter of the president of the rival MC which he doesn't know and mistook her as the club entertainment (and she does not get offended, but accepted it), thus the reason why Ally exists. It was all too easy, so if you just want a cool read I will surely recommend this. No need to invest so much of your emotions and sympathy, just go with the flow.
This book was okay I did finish it so I will give it 3 stars.
Here are a few reasons I can't give it 4 or 5 stars. 1.The VERY descriptive seex scenes with OW and getting a boner while remembering them was quite unnecessary and gross (not a way to help us build a connection with them). We got more of those then we did with the main charters. 2.Anyone who has kids know that they don't talk how Ally was made out to talk in this book. One page she would talk like a baby the next a teenager. All the S's put on the end of words just started to drive me crazy. 3.I don't like how we were 60% through the book before anything started to happen. 4.how its suppose to be a MC book but we didn't really get any MC business
That's just my take on it. Some may like it but i have read 1000 MC books and this one just wasn't for me.
I would give this story more like a 3 1/2 stars. There were minor issues with the story, but I liked it enough to not notice after awhile. This is the first book I have read by Carson Mackenzie that wasn’t co-authored. There were minor issues with the story, but I liked it enough to not notice after awhile. Speed comes home for the first time in five years from being in the military. His last visit home was to bury his dad. When he returns he has quite the surprise waiting for him.
This story focuses more on Speeds return and the development of his and Sami’s relationship. The MC is the background but not really the primary focus. I imagine as the series goes along, that might change a little since there seems to be some danger coming and there is a hint that Speed’s father is accident may not be an accident. Time will tell though.
I liked the concept of this book a lot, and I even enjoyed the style of writing. It’s a great premise having six sons of the officer of the club all grow up together and be best friends. They’re also all now in line to take over their fathers’ positions. For the most part the characters are developed; however, what isn’t well developed is the romance between Speed and Sami. They had a one night stand before he left to go back on deployment and then when he comes back he sees her but doesn’t remember her at all. Circumstances mean that they still have a connection but a relationship isn’t developed. They have sex a bunch of times, don’t get me started on what a doormat Sami is to her body (ick), and suddenly they are in love. They know next to nothing about one another. It just had so much potential to be so much more.
I have never had the pleasure of reading Carson Mackenzie publications, however, I am now completely hooked and addicted to this magnificent MC creation (series), and just purchased the next book, "Crusher". The Black Hawk MC is 100% addictive; pure truth.
Should you be searching for a beautifully crafted MC, then you're in luck. I discovered this release on Amazon, while searching for free MC romance on Amazon and loved this release.
Inside these pages, we get to meet an entire Brotherhood of wonderfully designed characters as well as Mr. Kane “Speed” Weston. Speed has discovered the truth after returning from the Military and he WILL get what he wants from his soon to be Old Lady; Sami Borelli.
I couldn't recommend devouring this publication ASAP, as I have. Now I'm off to do the same to the next release in this amazing Series... "Crusher"
I am not sure that I even know where to begin writing a review for this because it is truly an awesome experience.
The author did such a great job developing the characters, that I feel like I really know them, and not just the major two characters, but the minor ones too.
I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the emotion, the writing, and the ability that the author had to tell me a story that had me wanting this book to go on and on.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Came across this Author & Series by chance as I was reading Harley McRide's MC books. Oh boy was I glad I decided to chance reading Speed. Fortunate who like MC Bikers/Ex Military/Alpha Men well lucky you, as this is the Author for you. Read it and enjoy. Not for the faint hearted as very hot sex scenes that will combust you. Very well written with a good & exciting storyline that had me gripped I stayed up all night to read in one go. Highly Recommend this Author. My Davis Jamie Begley, but Carson is my 2nd alongside Autumn Jones Stone. Enjoy
I loved Speed and Sami's story - the characters were likeable and engaging without being too irritating, yet they brought out emotions that I could feel. Their reunion was anything but normal, but the chemistry between them was undeniable I found the plot engaging, and the chaos threatening to tear apart the Black Hawk MC was well written. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to more in this series.
One funeral and a hookup leads Speed back to his military unit. He misses his dad and can’t wait for the day to come so he can leave the military and go back to the MC. He is home at last. Sami knew she should have told him. He knows and he won’t give up until she is his. Can they have the family they deserve? Excellent writing. Awesome storyline.
Like this series so far. Speed (Kane) is finally out of the military. He's confused about his dads death and has nightmares from his time in the marines. Little does he know his one night with Sami produced a child, or that Sami is the daughter of their Rival, the Haven MC. A lot of interesting parts going on in this book. A great read.

Overall, I liked this book. The only problem I had was that just days prior, Speed messed with someone else and then expected her to be like oh okay, you automatically changed now. I did like the fact that Speed pretty much stepped up immediately and was determined to have his woman and child. I didn't blame Sami for being hesitant and loved the fact that she was willing to let him have a relationship with his child regardless of their relationship status. Good read!

This is a new author to me, so I wasn’t really sure what I had signed up for! This book has strong male alphas as well as strong females and as the first book in a new series seems to be setting the flavor of what is to come. There is some relationship angst as is usual for MCs in literature. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series and to see how these characters develop. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book by this author that I have read and it's a fast-paced and standalone book that will keep you engaged from start to finish. There's action, adventure, drama, danger, suspense, twist/turns, enemies, survival, intrigue, humor, mystery/secrets, surprises, conflict, politics (club), loyalty, confusion, romance, passion/lust and love. All it takes is one night to change the course of anyone's life. That is what happened to the H/h in this story.
