Jerk: A Bad Boy Romance

Rate this book
I grabbed at my shirt, but Clay knocked my hands away. “This is mine to unwrap. Mine...”

Clay Walker is the bane of my existence. Ever since I was five, he's gone out of his way to make my life a living hell. He even tricked me into letting him punch my v-card.

I thought when I graduated from high school, I was saying goodbye and good riddance to him forever.

I was wrong.

When my aunt died, she left her ranch to me, forcing me to move back home. And guess who's been running the ranch for the past four years?

You guessed it.

He's every bit as panty-melting hot as the last time I saw him. Not only that, he has learned new ways of tormenting me... wicked, deliciously naughty ways.

The sexual tension that we create is turning into a battle, not only for my body, but also for my heart. And if I lose, I could lose everything- my self-respect, my pride, and maybe even my aunt's estate.

But if it's a battle he wants, it's a battle he's going to get. And I won't take it lying down. This time I'm going to come out on top.

Clay Walker, you jerk, this is war!

Nothing exciting happens in Tawny Taylor's life, unless you count giving the cat a flea dip--a cat can make some fascinating sounds when immersed chin-deep in insecticide--or chasing after a houseful of upchucking kids during flu season. She doesn't travel the world or employ a staff of personal servants. She's not even built like a runway model. She's just your run-of-the-mill, pleasantly plump Detroit suburban mom and wife.

Typos.

Typos everywhere.

But those were unbelievably outnumbered by the amount of eye rolls the book induced.

AND I have a new word to add to my list of gag worthy names for body parts.

This book's gem...

Mantitty.

Yup. You read that shit right. I double checked the author's spelling and everything.

The plot was ok, execution and writing were not as ok, but it was still ridiculous with WTFs allover it. AND then it ended with my least favorite of all plot devices. The H using the h's body's sexual response against her when she's saying no. Coercing the h into sex/forgiveness/domination or whatever his intent is because he really "knows" what she wants regardless of the words coming out of her mouth (@_@)

But the real reason the H is irredeemable...
The H's sister burns down the house on the h's ranch which causes the h to forfeit her ENTIRE inheritance to the H. He gets the ranch and MILLIONS in investments, which she couldn't touch to run the ranch and therefore avoid forfeiture. He's already mega-fucking-rich, yet when he sells the ranch back to her for $1 cuz he lurves her...he tells her not to worry cuz he'll help her out financially to get the ranch going again but doesn't even mention GIVING HER BACK THE MILLIONS SHE SHOULD HAVE INHERITED FROM HER AUNT!!!!

As opposed to her private bone?

SG Ladies this is a safe read, but not sure that's really any kind of recommendation.

I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review and here it is: 2 stars.

While I rarely give a book a one- or two-star rating, giving this novel two stars was me being generous, and given only because the title was at least partially true, every character in this novel acted like a jerk.

Morgan has inherited her late aunt's ranch in Wyoming, but it comes with conditions, she must live and work there for 5 years and make the ranch a success, a difficult task made worse by the fact that her panties are constantly melting when she learns that the ranch foreman is none other than Clay Walker, to whom she lost her virginity 4 years ago, and who has ignored her ever since. Rather than behaving like adult and confronting him, something that no one in this novel seems to do about anything, she takes her broken heart to college with her, and only returns to the ranch after her aunt's passing.

Clay, like Morgan, also has the emotional maturity of a 12-year-old. After asking Morgan for a truce and a dinner under the stars, they again have sex--it seems that Morgan has no self-control around this man, and the next day Morgan sees him in town with his arm draped over another gal, who later gives her a play-by-play of exactly what Clay told Morgan, everything he did and said on their date, and yet again, it's avoidance time. This on-again, off-again romance was like watching a tennis match played by juveniles with dirty mouths, bad manners and trust issues.

By the time I was about 10% of the way through this novel, I was ready to toss it aside, but since I agreed to read and review it, I kept hoping these characters would improve and grow up, but although there is a HEA ending, the happy part for this reader was simply the knowledge that I somehow managed to finish reading it.

I am not sure if this book is aptly titled. While Clay definitely does some things that make him a jerk as the book progresses he always seems to have a good motive behind it and always with Morgan's best interest in mind. Morgan on the other hand has definite trust issues and she always reaches conclusions before getting the facts.
I really never connected with any of the characters in the book. I'm not sure why any man would put up with everything Morgan did, even if she is described as being smoking and I'm not sure why someone would put up with Clay at times either. His omission of issues causes a great deal of the problems.

Never-ending

I don't even know where to start. I felt like I was in The Shining movie in it's never ending hallways. He was worse than a jerk more like a-hole. Sleeps with her then the next day he is out with someone else. Also he apparently tells all his women the same thing and does the same dinner crap with everyone else just to sleep with them. And last but not least with him he says all women are whores. Then to top the rest there's a fire then a thrown in sister with problems. The only thing I did like was I'm finished with the book.

This was a kindle freebie but I regret reading it and wasting my precious time .
A Wattpad novel is better than this .

Morgan never planned to return to middle of nowhere, Montana after graduation. Her dreams and ambitions did not include returning to her aunt's ranch in a tiny town. She also never expected to see Clay again, the boy she lost her virginity to in high school and never saw afterwards.

However, after her aunt dies, leaving Morgan a ranch in Montana, Morgan finds herself back in the middle of nowhere and running into Clay shortly after her arrival. Things don't always go smoothly for the two of them. And the "Jerk" in the title of this book may not be exactly who you think.

The book could have used some addition editing to catch some last lingering typos and inconsistencies, but that didn't really detract from the enjoyment of the story. I really liked Clay and Morgan together. Their story was great. Their chemistry was electric. And I hope there's another story where I can read more about them.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Second, third chances, fighting to stop their hearts from wanting each other not the heart wants what the heart wants
For Morgan it just pulling through 5 years on her aunts working ranch that's inn the red and has been for a long time. But she never thought her childhood love Clay would be the foreman on her ranch but he is and all the traitorous memories cole.rushing back. Clay is not.the same when she last saw him and never thought he wold be a wealthy man but also the contender to buy her ranch.out from.underneath her.

A while Lotta story

I liked this book, aside from the weird mention that the antagonist was her step brother, mentioned at the beginning of the book, and he clearly is not. Also, (SPOILER!!!!) how many f*<%ed up things can happen to one persons in 48 hours? Apparently attempted rape, arson, kidnapping, hostage escape, and attempted suicide. Really? The story felt like that could have been 4 separate plot lines. Just sayin,......

4 stars

Spoiler Alert
I gave this book a 4 star rating because for me it is missing some key things in the plot.
1) What happened to Lacy? Or the child he was paying child support for?
2) What happened to Emmy? Clay said she was the best thing that ever happened to him but you only get one interaction with her and him.
3) The ending left a lot up in the air for this to be a stand alone novel.
That being said it is a good book with a great story line.

I've been trying to finish this book for two weeks and I finally did it. What a horrible waste of time!!! No point in reading it, it'll hold your attention for 3 seconds and you'll want to put it down.
