This is the story of Jillian and Jude. I have to confess that this story wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. The blurb was really promising but unfortunately the book didn't deliver. The biggest problem of the book was the writing. I wouldn't like to spoil it for anyone, so I will just say that there were a lot of information that were unnecessary in the plot and the story. The book is written in 3rd person and that was another problem for me. This way of writing made it really difficult to connect with the heroes and the story although there were few twists and surprises.

Jillian is an interesting person but as I've said, I couldn't connect to her.

Jude is also a very interesting character. However the problem was the same for me...I couldn't connect with him either. Actually I couldn't even feel their connection.

The end was kind of sweet and nice. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book as much as I would like to. It's really a pity as the story was good but the writing made everything more difficult in this book.

Across The Hall by Kylie Walker was a quick light sweet read that had a bit of intrigue thrown into the mix to give this romance a dramatic effect. When two across the hall neighbors begin to develop feelings for one another, lines will be crossed, secrets will be exposed, and the truth will be revealed.

Jude Falken has been released from prison early after serving his time for involuntary manslaughter. Two years of his life was taken away from him and now as part of his early release, he is on house arrest for a month. Jude is unlike any other convicts since he comes from a wealthy family and the only crime he did was protecting his mother from her abusive boyfriend. So when Jude moves to the apartment across from his best friend and fraternity brother, he learns that his best friend is living with his younger sister. Jude has never met Jillian but has seen in pictures how gorgeous she is. He is well aware that his best friend told him to stay away. And so he does. Well he tries to.

Jillian Warren is back in NYC for good after her internship in Paris has ended. Jillian should be over the moon happy that she is a college graduate and reunited with her own family member, her brother. But what others don't realize is that Jillian left Paris for a reason to forget the man that she had a relationship with.

So when Jillian and Jude begin to strike a friendship and begin to develop feelings for one another, they both learn of each other's past and secrets.Together they try to work through their issues in their relationship. But when Jillian's past comes back haunting her, will she be able to love again with Jude or will her past memories destroy her second chance at love?

Across the Hall was a quick light read. I like the book but I wouldn't say this book is amazing because the dialogue in this story didn't sound mature for these young twenty something characters. Honestly, Jillian's secret of what happen in Paris was not a shocking reveal but I will say I was more intrigued with the inner workings that was happening with Jude's company. Other than that, if you are looking for light romantic read of a best friend falling for his best friend's sister then this book might be for you.

Across the Hall by Kylie Walker
3 stars!!

I first read Kylie Walker a few months ago with her book House of Paine that I really enjoyed and it was the synopsis of this book that drew me in. The potential this book had was for a great story and while the author gave it a great shot it didn’t quite wow me.

Jude Falken was holed up in his new apartment for a month on parole, he had been incarcerated for two years for involuntary manslaughter and had to spend one month under house arrest before he was free to go. Jude was by no means your average convicted felon. He was head of a fashion empire and had been acting in self defense when tragedy struck for him, leaving his good name and reputation forever tarnished.

Jillian Warren lives across the hall from Jude Falken with her brother who just so happens to have been Jude’s best friend from college. Jillian is also into fashion and has just finished her internship in Paris. Having just got back to the States she needs to find herself a job and to get over the broken heart that she left behind.

These two have fashion in common and a best friend/brother who has sworn them both off the other, but when Jillian and Jude meet there is obvious chemistry but will they succumb to temptation or will they heed everyone’s warnings?

I liked the way that Kylie Walker interwove a little mystery and suspense into this book as well as adorning us with Jude and Jillian’s blossoming relationship. It seems that many paths are connected and just when you think you really know someone, you actually don’t. Money and power has a means of changing the most trust worthy people and this is brought to the forefront in Across the Hall.

I loved Jude, he was a great character, who stood up for what he believed in and especially who he believed in. He had been through hell and yet he came out of it relatively unscathed and was still a lovely guy through and through. Jillian was a bit harder to warm up to for me, her flip flopping emotions were annoying at times and I just wanted her to stick to her guns. For me though, what let this book down was character connection. I didn’t feel it, I wanted that intensity, the deep and meaningful and I just felt that the author skirted around this and didn’t reflect it in her writing. It had great potential but just didn’t quite hit the spot. None the less, I enjoyed the book though.

Across the Hall by Kyile Walker was a quick read with a little bit of a romantic curve ball thrown in. This was the first book I've read by this author, and while I overall enjoyed this book, there were times where I thought these twenty-something characters seemed a little immature. And as their feelings get deeper, secrets are exposed and lines are crossed and the truth has a funny way of ALWAYS coming out.

Jude Falken is trying to get his life back after spending two years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. As part of his release six months early for good behavior, he has one month of house arrest. Luckily for him, he has the money to get a nice apartment and is able to spend his house arrest comfortably in his new home. He also discovers that his old college friend (and his little sister) live across the hall from him.

Jillian Warren is FINALLY home from her internship in Paris. She missed Manhattan and her big brother. But Jillian has some other motivation for returning home... a summer romance that left her feeling devastated and betrayed. Jillian is steering clear of men. But their new neighbor has left her intrigued. Her brother has warned her to stay away from him, but she can't deny her attraction to her new neighbor.

As Jude and Jillian explore their new attraction/relationship, secrets are exposed and their new relationship is put to the test when Jillian's past comes calling.

I liked this book. The sexy times were hot, I just felt that it went from zero to hundred in a blink of an eye. I wish the emotional relationship between Jude and Jillian was a little more developed, especially given their recent experiences. I still think you will enjoy this book if you like "best friend falling for best friend's little sister" storylines.

This was a quick little read that I enjoyed. Nothing too terribly heavy, but with just enough of an added something so that it wasn't exactly fluffy.

After Jude was released from prison, he moved in across the hall from his college best friend, Ethan. Ethan has a little sister who is just graduating from college named Jillian. Jillian and Jude hit it off and sparks fly between them. There was a huge twist involving a man from Jillian's past that I never saw coming.

So why only 3 stars? There were instances where the writing went from past tense to present and it TOTALLY pulled me out of the book. That is the one thing I have a hard time ignoring. Other than that, the story had enough to keep me guessing and Jude and Jillian were hot together. I loved the ending; Jude is such a romantic ;0)

This was hot, sexy and sweet!

Kylie has done it again, completely melted the pages of my Kindle with this scorcher! I enjoyed this story, it was a short, hot read that had some intense smoldering scenes.

Jude has been released from prison and since he still owns his fashion empire, he can afford a luxurious apartment, across the hall from his best friend. He’s meant to stay in his apartment, and the building itself for a month before he can venture out into the real world. That can’t be so bad, cant it?

Jillian arrives back from Paris after an incredible time spent finishing her degree in fashion and marketing. Staying with her brother is exactly where she wants to be once she’s back in New York. While applying for jobs she takes up a part time gig with her friend at the little coffee shop down the road from the apartment. One night, having to deliver a meal to one of the ‘regulars’, she meets the man who lives ‘across the hall’.

The attraction is instant, and undeniable. The two slowly grow closer, in more ways than one, until Jillian’s past comes knocking. Will they be able to move past Jillian’s ex lingering in the background? Or will it be enough to push the two lovers apart?

Whenever I sit down to write a review, I try to find at least one good thing about the book, even if my overall feelings toward it weren't all that great. In the case of Across the Hall, an erotic romance from Kylie Walker that employs the falling-for-a-sibling's-best-friend trope, I'm at a bit of a loss because it wasn't a terrible book, but I wouldn't call it a great one either. My feelings are bordering on ambivalent at the moment and a lot of it has to do with my lack of connection with any of the characters. Yes, the story had a creative touch or two--a parolee who happens to be an extremely wealthy young man at the helm of the family-owned corporation and a recent college graduate with a broken heart who is stunned when the cause for the broken heart re-enters her life and his connection to the guy she's now falling for--and I did finish the book, but I wasn't invested, emotionally or otherwise, so by the time I finished, I had no residual feelings and didn't spend any time thinking about the characters or the not-so-surprising twist in the story.

Jude Falken and Jillian Warren are connected through Jillian's older brother, who happens to be Jude's best friend. They also happen to be neighbors now that Jude is out of prison. Both are warned away from the other by Jillian's brother, but as expected, neither one really heeds the warning. They initiate the physical part of their relationship quickly, but I did appreciate that the emotional part took a bit longer to develop. However, there were certain things about their story that felt off or didn't make sense. Take for example the fact that Jillian had no clue about Jude's last name or his family business, and yet she was an intern for one of the corporation's subsidiaries in France. Based on experience, knowledge about a company's history and background is essential, not just in job applications but also in internships, so how could she not have known? Didn't she do any research? Then there's Jude not telling her about his imprisonment, and instead of him admitting he was at fault and taking responsibility for it, he turns it around, she feels terrible, and then it's never discussed again. Huh? Seriously? That's it? Over and done?

I acknowledge that what I had in my hands was an advanced reader's copy, but I was really bothered with the way the text was formatted, and I don't know if it was done on purpose or not. The thing is, it occurred numerous times through the book that I was beginning to think that it was meant to be that way. Cutting a paragraph off just when a character's about to speak with a comma and to put what he or she says in a separate line or paragraph was weird. Maybe it's the editor in me, but I can't help but take note of those things and while I'll let one or two of those go, it happening repeatedly bugs the heck out of me. There were also a lot of really, REALLY lengthy paragraphs, some of much didn't really add much to the story as a whole. If I looked at the story and the characters as separate entities, I wouldn't really say that either one was horrendous. As a matter of fact, they were okay, but put together and they were just...meh. I so wanted to like this book, especially since the author is a new one for me and I like discovering new authors to fawn over. Unfortunately, this simply wasn't for me, and I'm giving Across the Hall two out of five stars. ♥

really good read

I bought this book thinking it was going to be a quick read and a 3 star, but was surprised that it turned out to be a 5 star and a book I would read again. Even more I would buy more books by this author as long as the books are not parts vs whole stories.
Overview: Jude just got out of jail for 2 years for accidental killing his mom’s boyfriend who was beating on her. He hit the guy with a statue to knock him out but ended up killing him with 1 hit. He has to stay n his new apartment for 30 days, no leaving unless cleared by the probation officer. His neighbor across from him ends up being his college fatuity brother, Ethan. They talked for a few and Ethan warned him that his sister was moving back from France soon. Julian was curious who the hot guy from across the hall, but when she had to deliver food there on her way home, she was very shocked by him. They start dating, but when Julian’s Ex turns out to work with her boyfriend Jude, things come to light for both Jude and Julian. Julian and Jude depend on each other to help solve a mystery.

Good story, bad editing

I really enjoyed the story but dear god the editing is atrocious!! There are problems with the story contradicting itself, sometimes within ten pages. But the most awful thing is the uses of tenses...the constant changing in tense and the improper use of tense. You're never quite sure of the narration either...is it first person, third person? I had serious doubts as I was reading as to whether the author was a native speaker of English. It is so bad it takes you right out of the story and that it a crime I can't get past.

This book was definitely a 5 star! From love triangles to crime plotting, this book was filled with twists and turns! I absolutely love Jude! He came with plenty of secrets, along with the fact that he was forbidden from even thinking about Jillian by his best friend aka her brother, but the way he cared about Jillian showed he was a definite keeper! Jillian had a past of her own, and when it crept back into her life, you knew things were about to get good! As you probably can guess based on the book's cover, the sex was hot! I love the way it ended, too! I am so glad I read this!

Across the hall

Jillian is in Paris over the summer and comes home to new York ready to find a job in the fashion industry. Jude was released from a two year prison term and moves into an apartment across from his best friend Ethan. While talking to Ethan, Jude sees a picture of Ethan and his younger sister Jillian. Jude thinks she's hot, but Ethan tells him that she is off limits. Can Jude keep his promise? Great read.

Light fun read

This was a light fun read. The reason I gave three stars is there were 2-3 spots were it stated something that happened and how it happened and then a few chapters later the other character learns about it yet it's told completely different. Frustrating!

Almost a 5 star....

I really enjoyed the book, but it's only downfall is after rushing through all the good parts it was kind of slow. Finishing the book took me longer than reading the rest of it. Otherwise, I loved the plot.

This book was just ok. The writing itself was clunky and not really interesting. The main characters were not well developed, nor was their relationship. The sex was just that, the feelings between the characters were never developed for the reader. There were also almost too many other side stories. I really wanted to like this one, but it was lacking too much. That said, at least it is a complete story.

“He smiled and winked and she forced a smile back in his direction. Beautiful Jude, standing next to the only other man she’d ever had real feelings for. This had to be a bad dream.”

5 forbidden stars! What a cute, sweet, quick read! I fell into this book and didn’t come out until the end…..so worth the read!

Jude is recently out of prison and owns a huge fashion empire. He has his choice of women, any woman he wants. Then he sees Jillian one night and knows he has to have her...the problem? She’s his best friend’s sister, and he always promised he’d never do that to his best friend. Jillian is freshly back in town after a year across the pond in Paris, interning. She’s glad to be back and has vowed to stay away from men. But the minute she lays eyes on Jude, she’s curious who the mysterious stranger across the hall is. Her brother and roommate warn her to stay away from him, he’s no good. Her curiosity gets the better of her and when she finds out his dark past things take a turn. And just when she thinks that she has enough to deal with, her memories from Paris, come back to haunt her.

To say that I was sucked into this book would be an understatement. The minute I cracked open my kindle I was hooked and didn’t put it down until I was done. I love the twists and turns this book took….you think it’s going one way and then it takes a totally different turn. Great book….so worth the read!

Across the Hall certainly had me blazing through the pages! This book was as hot, hot, hot and oh my word....can you say panty melting. My first read by Kylie Warren and geez do I need to read more.

Jillian Warren has just returned home from a year of school and an internship in Paris. After a failed romance and heartbroken the last thing she is looking for is romance. Just happy to be home with her brother, Ethan, and forget the mess she left behind in Paris.

Jude Falken, has just moved in across the hall from Jillian and her brother Ethan. The son of a fashion icon and from a wealthy family he owns and runs his own fashion company. Recently released from prison and on house arrest, he adjusting to being out. After serving time for the accidental killing of his mother’s boyfriend while the boyfriend was beating his mother.

Now we’ll add Jillian’s brother, Ethan, into the picture. Him and Jude are close friends and went to college together. Brothers of sort. Surprised to find him living across the hall from him Ethan is quick to lay down the law and tell Jude he is not to put the moves on his sister. Jude has a history of being a player and he wants Jillian to have none of that.

Curiosity always kills the cat and that‘s exactly what gets to Jillian. Seeing all kinds of model type beauties coming in and out of Jude’s condo she is even more curious to find out who lives there. Thanks to her good friend who runs a café/bistro downstairs in the building she is asked to drop off his evening meal one night. Holy moly does she get an eyeful of this handsome mystery man.

Let’s just say that their interest is more than just piqued. One meeting leads to two and then more until finally the inferno between them has to blow. Jude is definitely a dirty boy and has all the tools to make Jillian’s evening rock!! Not only that but Jillian is kind of getting hooked on this guy too.

As the two become closer a person from Jillian’s past, the man she left behind in Paris, reappears in New York. Not only that but she finds out he is Jude’s mentor and close friend. He’s been part of Jude and his Mom’s life since the death of his dad. Now we have a bit of a dilemma and it totally creates tension between Jude and Jillian. Not only does this man’s reappearance cause problems but so does the little secret that Jude has been withholding from Jillian.

And if things couldn’t get even more messed up, what happens when Ethan returns home from a business trip? He finds Jude in the apartment with his sister after being warned off!!

Will Jillian have to make a choice between Jude and Max?
Would Ethan flip his lid and make trouble for Jude and Jillian?
Can Jude’s win Jillian’s heart and they find their HEA?

Love Jude. I loved how he helped his mom all those years ago, accepted his fate and did what he had to so he could go on. He is on house arrest but still living, working and finding love. He was a great character. He didn’t let his past weigh him down but it buoyed him and he got stronger for it. Having his mentor be what he became though was hard to watch. That guy went from a man that he looked up to and learned from to bleh and just a not nice guy.

Jillian was a work in progress at the beginning. She was lost and trying to figure out her world. She had a moment of weakness in her time in Paris and she was letting it in a way define her. Especially when it came to a moment in time with Jude when he kept from her his incarceration. That was a tough shameful time and Jude wanted to tell her in his own way at the right time but manipulation occurred and it came out when he didn’t want it to poor guy. Jillian allowed her past to cloud that time but Jude did get through. I do love how Jillian doesn’t use her relationship with Jude to help her career.

Watching these two find each other was sweet and scorching hot. I didn’t like how her brother Ethan reacted though. That was a little hypocritical I mean I understand little sister and all but still he started to see her best friend and she didn’t say anything but was supportive and he was caveman protective.

The love story of Jude and Jillian brought us so many things. We see forgiveness, supportive moments, encouragement from each other, love, kindness, understanding and respect.they respect one another and talk to one another. They are open and honest with each other and help each other deal with things. They are each others rocks and support system. Jude is very encouraging and supportive of Jillian as is she especially when it came to finding the truth about what happened two years ago.

The intimate moments will scorch your kindle panties and set them on fire. They have chemistry and attraction in spades but most wonderful to see is that they talk and work things out together. They help each other and support one another.

A sweet story about new beginnings and love. About finding love and not letting it get away. The wonderfully sweet and scorching story of Jude and Jillian and how they find each other.

Across The Hall by Kylie Walker is a story about Jude Falken trying to rebuild his life after going to prison for killing the man beating on his mother. He was barely out of his teens when this happened so he got charged and pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter, spent 2 years behind bars , got out early on good behavior and is trying to piece his life back together.
Jude isn’t a regular person, he comes from a rich background and he goes back to his family’s company now that he is out of prison. He is ready to pick back up and run the company and get his life back on track. He is now living in his apartment for a month while he is on house arrest and he comes to find out his best friend from college lives across the way from him with his sister. Its nice for him to know he has a friend and to meet his friend’s sister. He just plans on running his company from the apartment and getting his life back on track but that changes when he meets Jillian-his best friend’s sister-she is hot, sweet and too gorgeous.
Jillian is back from Paris and things over there were not as good as she told people. She is trying to get her head on straight and her heart pieced back together. She is trying to find a job in her chosen field and focus on what matters but then she meets Jude—Her brother has made it clear he is off limits. But Jude is dangerous and too hot..there is this chemistry. She loves their time together and its confusing. I can tell she hates disobeying her brother but this connection she has with Jude overrules what he tells her. But her past comes back and haunts her when it comes to Jude- can her new life and romance with Jude stand up to her past , will her brother forgive the forbidden romance and will Jude be able to let the past go or will he allow the past to ruin their future?

Omg, this book has everything. Intrigue, Passion, Betrayal, Action, Seduction..omg, everything and I cant say enough about the MC –too good and something to read on an afternoon or evening that you need stress relief.

This book was free on Amazon so I thought I would give this author a try. I loved the first half of the book. The pace and build up was great however the second half just fell flat and lost something. The Heroine seemed too unaffected by the revealing events making her look spineless. She turns into a secondary character in my opinion.

Jillian comes home from Paris after college and a summer internship in the fashion industry. She is brokenhearted from a failed romance. She lives with her brother and across the hall lives his best friend from college that just moved in. There is an immediate attraction and they get together while her brother is out of town. Jude had just been released from a two year prison sentence for manslaughter protecting his mother. Their relationship builds and they start dating. Pretty much after she finds out who he really is the story goes flat and the focus shifts from them to other plot lines. He shows more emotion than she does once everything is revealed and she seems to have to wait for his decision if they are to continue to see each other when the opposite should be the case. I also find it hard to believe she couldn't put two and two together knowing his first name and the company he said he worked for if she lives and breathes that industry. The story also wraps up to nice and neat and on Christmas Eve of all days for her to be given a job by his company. 2.5 stars

This was a DNF for me. I couldn't get connected to the characters. There was too much random information like what they are eating and what everyone was wearing rather than any focus on a plot. Also, the story changed tense a few times which was confusing. The story line sounded good but the writer took too long to get there.

Across the Hall seemed to have elements that I like in a romance. You know, rich bad boy, little sister of best friend and sparks that can't be ignored. I really wanted to like this more than I did. Don't get me wrong, there were things that I did enjoy about the book. I really liked Jude and Jillian. They were interesting characters and I thought their chemistry came across as real and definitely steamy! Their romance was a bit fast for my taste, but I liked their HEA. I also thought the little twist in the end was unexpected.

As I was reading the story though, some things kept nagging at me. I didn't get how Jude and Eric were supposedly blood brothers and best friends from college, yet Jude had never met Jillian before. Also, they live across the hall from each other, but they never hung out and Eric never introduced them? That was just strange to me. I also didn't understand why Eric never told his sister about his supposed best friend's incarceration. I can't really imagine that would ever happen especially if they were close siblings. Also, why didn't Jude tell Jillian where he worked?

But, those are my hangups and shouldn't necessarily mean the story isn't worth giving a try. It's a quick read, so make sure to check it out and give it a shot.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I toggle between liked and really liked with this book. It was definitely a quick and easy read.

The premise of the story was ok for me. I like the brother's best friend stories but really-these two were good friends in college and stuff but I am not sure I would say they were "BFF's"

Jude has recently been released from prison where he served a few years for the murder of his mom's douchy boyfriend. He got out on good behavior and is under house arrest minus the ankle bracelet<---like that ever happens???

Jude happens to move across the hall from his old college buddy who also lives with his little sister, Jillian. Jude has never met Jillian as she has been in school in Paris. But when Jillian returns, and Jude see's her for the first time, he can't stay away. The chemistry between these two is definitely hot!

Oddly enough, even though these two had never met, they have more in common than meets the eye. I was definitely surprised at the twist that occurred with Jude's mentor.

Kylie Walker combines the brothers best friend and just of jail troupes to give the reader a story with so much sexual tension, it’s ready to explode.

Jude is putting the pieces of his life back together after spending two years locked up. Not your regular convict. Coming from wealth and running his company from the slammer, Jude is an intensely loyal man, smart and oh so hot. He’s more of a man the cover he presents shows him to be.

Jillian has returned from finishing school and a broken heart from Paris. Trying to start her dream of working in the world of fashion and letting her heart mend, a new neighbors catches her eye and breath in more ways than one. A sweet, caring and headstrong woman has just been knocked off her feet.

Across The Hall is a quick read with a little mystery, some suspense and a lot of sexual tension. Jude and Jillian click and sparks fly. Kylie Walker includes a lot of sweet romantic moments shared by Jude and Jillian that not only make the book sex, but sweet as well.

Kylie Walker is a new author to me, I enjoyed this book so much that I will be looking to read some of her other works. This story starts with Jillian returning from Paris where she attended college brokenhearted. She moves in with her brother Ethan while she looks for a job in the fashion industry. Jude who happens to be best friends and college buddies lives across the hall. Jude has just finished serving a 2 year sentence for murder while protecting his mother. He sees Jillian around the apartment building and can't believe how beautiful she is and how attracted he is to her. One evening Jude places an order for delivery and the person delivering just so happens to be Jillian – the sparks fly. But once Jude learns that she is Ethan's sister whom he has sworn to stay away from he flirts but tries to keep away. As the story progresses their past becomes entangled with some twists of its own. This was a very good book that captured my attention from the first page. I hated to see it end.

Across The Hall by Kylie Walker was my first book by her and I can appreciate her writing style. Coming across the storyline, I swooned because it was the classic bad boy but it wasn't like he wanted to be that and let it rule his life.

Jude Faulken makes you fan yourself in more ways than one. However, when I first read his name... Yeah... I sung The Beatles out loud. Am I ashamed? No, not really. HEY JUDEEEEEEEE. Okay. I swear, I am done. He definitely made it onto my book boyfriends list because of the fact that he makes your body feel hot as he flirts his way into Jillian's life.

When the plot twist hit me, I started to bawl my eyes out. I wasn't prepared to say the least. Jillian and Jude's relationship is one of the classics and I can fall hard for the two of them being together. I smell a second novel coming, Kylie, and I cannot wait to sink my teeth into it.

I rate this a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars. Blog you later, awesome book nerds.
