Sometimes Stella Forsythe's shaky faith held her back and made her doubt herself…and second chances. Stella ran a B&B in rural Arkansas. That and raising her precious son alone kept her busy. She wasn't looking for romance—then a stranger came to town.
The rustic inn was the perfect getaway for world-weary cop Adam Callahan. And when he discovered its beautiful owner in distress, he offered his services as Good Samaritan. Everyone needed a helping hand. With a little prayer he hoped they could find solace in their budding love and realize the sanctuary of God's loving arms.

I read this because the setting was my home state. The idea of it was sweet and wholesome in an old timey way with a faith that God is in control of our lives subplot. The finished product seemed to be slightly enhanced outline/plot summary. There was no use of foreshadowing. If the characters thought something to themselves or spoke something to another character then that was exactly what was going to happen or what you already knew they wanted to have happen. There is G rated attraction in these hills. No tight jeans, bulging crotches and heaving breasts. When Adam was thinking about Stella’s clothes, it brought to mind Little House on the Prairie without the bonnets. Artwork and crafting is a big part of certain communities and it would have nice to have seen that part fleshed out more than it was within the framework of the story as presented.
The main reason I kept reading was to find out if there was some special significance to Adam’s deep dark secret to the overall story. A police officer not turning his brother in for price gouging after a hurricane was a bit of a let down when there seemed to be a subliminal inference that the crime was at the same level of pain and devastation as the act of God that preceded it. I do understand moral integrity and how it can cause family discord but the brother owned up to his actions. Adam’s decision to leave his job and just drive until he made it to Hot Springs and to the one place with an opening at the Inn, should require more than a page or two to check off a plot point. Oh yeah, the act of God led to Adam and Stella finding each other.
Adam also helps Stella’s family become part of the community by encouraging them to go to church. Through eventual honesty and trust of each other Stella is able to reconcile her relationship with her deceased mother and provide Adam with the love and emotional support he needs to return home and make amends with his family so they can start a life together.

I really enjoyed this book. A clean love story about real life struggles and the personal struggle with having complete faith in God's great love and mercy . Thank you for a lovely evening.
This is a new author to me. Stella is trying to keep order of running a inn. While taking care of her dad and son. That is until Adam shows up. Adam has is own issues. Once I started reading this book, I had to finish it to see what happens with Stella and Adam.
A endearing story of two opposites falling in love. Reminds of all the mysterious, yet purposeful, ways that God works in our lives. The need to find and keep faith. That nothing is impossible with God and when you trust him he will keep and take care of you.
Stella is raising her son Kyle all by herself after her husband was killed in a car accident. Also taking care of her aging father after her estranged mother died and left her a B&B. Adam is reeling from the hurricane in New Orleans and his job as policeman there.
