Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman #13

The Hitwoman and the Chubby Cherub

Rate this book
Love and Murder are in the air.

In years past, Maggie Lee has not been a fan of Valentine’s Day, but this year, the holiday has warped into its own special hell.

She's stuck working at her aunt’s lingerie shop during the busiest (and cheesiest) time of the year, someone volunteered her to help with the Valentine’s Day party at her niece’s school, and there’s a hitman in town, known as the Cupid Killer.

Maggie is up to her eyeballs in declarations of love, sex toys, and candy hearts, when all she really wants is to chase down leads pertaining to her missing sister.

Can Maggie survive a guy with a bow and arrow, the pain in the butt parents of school kids, and a romantic proposal?

Or will she succumb to her favorite fantasy?

The one where she runs away with her pets.

If you happen to be new to the Hitwoman series, you need to stop and go to the beginning of the series and read them in order. This 13th book is packed full of excitement and fun, and will be so much more meaningful if you know the characters and plots from the beginning. To say the least, this is unlike any other book you have ever read! JB does a great job presenting various mysteries and keeps Maggie in the middle of their resolutions. Her circle of family and friends play important rolls as well, but nothing is as important as her pets God(zilla) the lizard, Pis the one-eyed cat, and DeeDee (Doomsday) the doberman. The fact that Maggie can actually talk with them makes their accomplice rolls even more important. She can take them on stakeout, break-ins, or any kind of mission, and they not only have her back, but they also take active rolls in whatever needs to be done. In this book, DeeDee actually delivers a dvd from Delveccio to a judge as part of Maggie's job.
There are mysteries that Maggie has been working on solving since the first book (like what happened to her missing sister) and new ones that will take awhile to resolve as well (such as finding out she has a brother?!) All in all the books are funny and fast reads that leave me wanting more. In fact my complaint to JB is why she doesn't write faster! The minute I finished reading this book I was already thinking about what was going to happen in the next book!
Highly recommended series and each book gets better than the last one! Do yourself a favor and read them now!

I'm a huge fan of Maggie and God, DeeDee and Piss but this one took reading 2 times to really appreciate the story telling. All the pieces really are coming together. I almost feel like I'm watching those old TV dramas like Dallas or Dynasty. ...To Be Continued...followed by a groan of frustration to have to wait until "next week" to see what happens. I think that's why only 4 stars even though I adore this series.

Part of what I simultaneously love and hate is the series has been doled out with so many characters and little side stories that I'm at the point of having to re-read. And that's okay. This series is that entertaining and if it came out all at once, it would be a glorious disaster of non-stop binge reading.

So, I'll give out my 4 stars and take what I can. Waiting for all my questions to be answered, ala, "Who Killed JR?" style.

Fun filled adventure as Maggie is trying to juggle taking care of Katie, running The Corset, a job from Delveccio, her growing feelings for Patrick, and confusion with Angel. Thank God for Armani and the pets. Her dad is still on the lam and the cupid killer she's been tasked to kill is on her trail. A shattering family secret comes to light bringing Maggie to her knees. Thoroughly enjoying this lighthearted, hilarious, sometimes sad series. All about family and commitment

Maggie is back and out to get the Cupid Killer and prove her Dad's innocence. Another fun read from JB Lynn. This series keeps getting better and better. I can't stop laughing anytime God speaks. Thoroughly entertaining read that you won't put down until finished.

Excellent!

I enjoy these books so much, please Ms Lynn keep Maggie's escapades coming...! True laugh out loud humor, and the main character keeps you wondering what she will get herself into next. The animals and her comrades are the perfect backdrop!

I swear, every single book in the series gets better and better! This one has to be my favorite, I think. I desperately want to read the next one right now; however, I’m trying to ration this series out...waiting until I really, really need an escape. These books are just so fun! It’s so hard to wait...

Amazing how well JB Lynn holds your attention

Obviously this is the 13 book in this series and not once have I felt a lack of attention. To realize that an author has to reiterate, over and over for each story and can still hold your attention, amazing. Thanks, Ms. Lynn

Love the whole series

Great characters, including the pets the main character , Maggie, can communicate with. Maggie is rather inept at being a hitwoman, but she's very good at taking care of family.

Cupid

Seriously giving Cupid a bad name here. It’s worth it because this story was awesome. Maggie drop Patrick. He is no good for you. Yeah for killing the Valentines party at Katie’s school.

way to go

This was a funny and interesting development for Maggie. She saves Delveccio again. I wonder how deep she will be in the family and how Angel will fit in her life. I’m also wondering about Patrick. We will see when the story continues.

Search for lost relatives.

Maggie is caught up in a power struggle trying to figure out what happened to her siblings. Ends with an abrupt cliffhanger.

More slightly odd reading

Again our sort of heroine gets the job done even though far to many other things get in her way again

OMG another awesome addition to one of my all time favourite series.
I couldn't put it down from start to finish it was that good.
Maggie is just brilliant, she has grown and changed so much since the beginning I just love how much stronger she is but she still needs to let people help her more, it was good to read in this story when she let Gem help her with the Valentines treats for the kids and I love how she is wanting to always be there for Katie, I'm hoping she let's Angel in more he is a better fit for her than Patrick and Patrick knows he can never give Maggie the life she deserves, I felt in this book that Maggie was starting to realise this more and more herself.
God, DeDe and Piss are all there adding some much needed comic relief to Maggies life they really help her lighten her load.
Finding out one of her dads secrets sends Maggie into another spin I can't wait to see how that pans out and Maggie's Aunts are always there surrounding her.
A really wonderfully funny series.

The Hitwoman and the Chubby Cherub by J.B. Lynn was so much fun for me to read. Although I am new to this series, I will be catching up as quick as I can. I love Ms. Lynn's writing style.

Maggie Lee is more stressed than ever in this book. In this book, she is finally learning how to ask for help. I loved that she's growing and beginning to accept her limitations. I missed that Armani wasn't in this book much. DeeDee, Piss and God were all there to love and support Maggie throughout the twists and turns. I was very glad to see more of Angel in this book. He's good for Maggie and I would enjoy seeing that develop more in future books.

Fast paced, laugh-out-loud moments and some thought provoking moments all made for one
great read. There's a tiny cliff hanger at the end of the book - not this story as it's
complete - that's got me waiting impatiently for the next book.

Poor Maggie, she's stretched thin. Working at The Corset, a Lingerie shop her aunt owns, taking real estate classes to start a new career and then of course hitwoman job. Now she also is talked into volunteering to help with Katie's Valentine's day party at school. She's juggling so many balls she can't seem to keep them all in the air. Good thing she's got plenty of help. If she would just say yes when it's offered. Things are complicated as always with the men in her life. Then there is a man who looks like Santa who is killing people and is knicknamed the Cupid Killer because he kills with a bow and arrow. Her dad is on the loose and in trouble again. Plus more. Always more. Like always there is a lot going on in this book. It's fun to see how the author weaves it all together and keeps it interesting. I for one am always kept guessing.

I love this series!!!! Each book is fun and this one does not disappoint. Maggie, our slightly neurotic hitwoman, is stressed trying to balance taking care of Katie, running her aunt's store, being a hitwoman, oh, and trying to make sense out of the two men in her life. Just to add to her stress, her escaped felon father shows up to cause more strife.

Somehow, the author takes all that and creates a wonderful book that had me laughing one moment, then pausing the next at a poignant moment.

This is a must read for fans of the genre. While it is a stand alone novel, you will enjoy it so much more if you've read the prior books.

Without a doubt one of my favorite series!!! In this book, Maggie continues to try and balance all the areas of her life. Delveccio has a job or two for her and Katie is enrolled in school, which means Maggie has to deal with other moms - yikes. Angel, Jack and Patrick are still in Maggie’s orbit. Maggie’s father pops up and continues to cause more problems. The animals continue to help Maggie in her adventures; which makes for some great comedy! You won’t want to miss this addition to the series!

Another wonderful adventure! Maggie 's life becomes even busier and more chaotic.

This was a rather short story. But this book packs a lot between it covers and as such seemed even shorter. Things happened fast, and there were lots of things happening.

It was great seeing Maggie maturing, and finding new mysteries and new clues to old mysteries. It was also great seeing all the quirky support characters and meeting some new ones .

I love Angel! Like LOVE!

And Maggie applied one of Patrick's lessons on Vinny, shouldn't be missed!

I loved this book. I hate when the story is over and I have to wait for the next one. Maggie has a lot on her plate. She has to kill the Cupid Killer, take care of Katie, find Darlene, be involved with Katie 's class party as well as run the lingerie shop. Her pets are there to help as is Angel the manny who is a lot more of a support than her "boyfriend " Patrick who is hardly ever around. You just have to read this book! It is a fun book which like Maggie's life is never boring!

Seriously Funny & Deadly Serious!

Book 13 of this series & each book gets better & better! I really like Maggie, how she manages to keep her family & life from imploding, I just don't know. The animals, Piss, DeeDee, & God, are all back & this time all behind Maggie. Only disappointment- very little Armani. I missed her. However, JB Lynn has given us a few tantalizing clues/hints for the future. And that ending.......Now I'm craving book 14!

Well I liked Maggie and her hunt for the Cupid murderer but it left me wanting more. Why does she keep carrying the torch for Patrick when Angel is waiting patiently? I know it is to add angst to her already scattered life but a girl can only wait for so long. Even the pets recognize this. The last paragraph leaves an opening for so much guessing. We'll have to wait and see. All in all this was another fun read and now Susan will be settling down....maybe.

OMG. I love this book even more than the others. I love Angel and how things are looking for Maggie and him. I loved the party scene with Cam and Megan. I love little Katie and all the critters. The one thing I hate is Maggie's dad. But I think readers are supposed to. What a slime. Ugh.

Great addition to this awesome series. More please!

Another good book from JB Lynn & I enjoyed it, however, I miss having more involvement by the animals. One suggestion though is that I would like to see Maggie become more decisive & confident. I just can't figure out why she keeps pining over Patrick (whom I'm really beginning to get annoyed with). Still, well worth reading (& waiting for the next installment). Glad she writes fast!

I'm still in love with this series.

While some interesting thing happen the one stands out the most is Maggie beating up Vinny. Also, Maggie learning to ask and accept help is big one. I can't wait to see what's going happen next.

Agh...Love the book but hate the cliff hanger at the end. Now that I've finished the last 4 books in this series, I've got to wait for the next installment. Oh I'm really going to work on my patience.

Love this book and this series. Very enjoyable stories. Highly recommend this series. Best read in order as there are ongoing story lines begun in earlier stories and the cast of characters has increased as the series has progressed.

Always great to go on a Maggie Adventure. This one felt a bit more like a serial than a book in a series. But there were still plenty of laughs and I'm happy to see that Maggie may finally be coming to her senses on the Patrick front.

This was a purrfectly wild ride.

I laughed until my sides hurt and was on the edge of my seat. Toilet paper. Santa Claus. You'll have to read to understand but that was my favorite LOL moment. It should be illegal to devour a series so quickly... but I can't put them down!

This series makes me laugh out loud. This last one actually ended on a cliffhanger. I hope the next one comes out soon.
