The Goddess Chronicles #3

Out of Options Aphrodite

After the shocking events of the last installment, Abby and Artie are left in the dungeons to die. Salvation comes to Abby in the form of a dirty chicken bone and sheer, angry persistence. Once escaped, Abby must reunite with her friends and figure out how to take down two of the Twelve Olympians in Zeus’ inner circle.

With her house destroyed and Artie barely able to string a sentence together, Abby has to gather her strength and her wits about her as she struggles to deal with this new, deadly threat to Olympus before it destroys everything she holds dear. Along with her wardrobe.

And everyone knows you don’t mess around with a goddesses’ wardrobe.

S.E. Babin has a passion for writing books with a paranormal twist. Whether it's romance or mystery, she loves taking the norm and turning it into the extraordinary. Her love of reading turned into a curious exploration to see whether or not she could write her own novel.

Beginning with random, terrible poetry and a slightly popular reimagining of Beowulf's Grendel in her high school English class, Sheryl spent way too much time in the library, killing any chance of her becoming a cheerleader or anything even remotely cool. Too much in one book

I've given this instalment of the Goddess Series only four stars for a few reasons.

Firstly, there's far too much packed into this single book. There's the climax & resolution to the storyline established in book two, then TWO MORE complete sequences of events/storylines/climax & resolutions. Two. That's one too many for good writers, & two too many for the pattern set in previous books.

There are enough spelling, grammar, syntax & continuity issues that it felt like a line editor had not been consulted for this piece. That's really not good enough, to my mind.

There's so much going on in this book that instead of feeling immersed, the book felt like it went on forever. I think some thought should be given to how, exactly, this book can be divided into smaller sections that make more sense.

This book gains a whole bunch of stars for many reasons. So many reasons.

Abby has so much SASS! Like whoa! Booping the nose of a creature that could kill you, on nothing more than 'it should be an illusion'. Seriously.

I like how genuine the interactions are becoming. I loved the way Typhon was re-introduced, & love how strong the emotions are between all of the characters.
Abby is as informal & laid back as someone who has just lost EVERYTHING could possibly be.

I'm looking forward to more of these, but this book was hard work.

Not happy with Abby's choices!

There were plenty of other gods/goddesses that Abby could have aligned with. I am upset that she messed up any chance she had with Hermes. They had something going. Plus Hermes has loved her for a long time. And she goes & throws it all away. I think she made too many bargains. I still don't know how this prophecy about her is supposed to come true. She chose to put someone else on the throne. And Poseidon seems like a decent guy. But Hades is the hottest guy around! I am surprised that Artemis doesn't help Abby with her cases. Abby has no one to be a partner now.

Love Love this series! so much happened in this book. Love, betrayal, loyalty, and sarcasm.
The twists and turns in this tale are suspenseful and fast-paced, and we meet more interesting characters from Aphrodite's world. It's a quick read, because you won't want to put this book down. And you'll be a bit frustrated because you must wait for the next instalment.

Trash a Goddess's wardrobe -woe betide you

Wonderful read! What happens if you imprison a Goddess, burn down her home and trash her clothes? Mayhem! Abby is a really wonderful character and these books are full of humour, sarcasm but all mixed a great story. Don't be put off that this about the Gods. A Fabulous read!

Out of Options

Aphrodite has her hands full in this installment. It all comes down to an epic battle for Olympus. Aphrodite is gifted more magic from various sources at different times to battle the immortals that want her gone. Needless to say Aphrodite makes a bunch of bargains and they mostly work to help her get what she wants. Looking forward to the next book.

And the hits keep coming -
Ranging from Abby being torn between two men (again lol), Zeus and his continuing conniving, Keto and Arties relationship and Hades.

During this book we learn more about Abby’s history and the prophecy surrounding her and watch her use her usual awesome and unique way to manage situations. The twist with Ares is 😘.

Now onto book 4

Interesting

There are so many twists and turns in this one that I would be entirely unable to describe it. It will keep you turning the pages; if for nothing else to see who stabbed whom in the back this time. And we are definitely set up to want to read the next one!

outstanding

This was so entertaining. So much deviousness but with a happy ending. The fight for freedom comes with many surprises, some good others not so much. I love these characters. Just when you know them, everything changes. It is a great read. Highly recommend. Reading the whole series in order is truly necessary to get the full enjoyment of the series. Outstanding.

"Out of Options Aphrodite" is the third book in the "Goddess Chronicles" by S.E. Babin. Held prisoner for several weeks, Abby finds a way to free herself and Artie from their magic dampening cuffs. But not everything is as it seems. Some friends are enemies and some enemies are friends. But in the end, Abby does everything in her power to save Olympus no matter the personal cost.
Overall, this was another great addition to the series. The third book picks up where the second one left off. I was also pleasantly surprised by the plot twists in this novel.
