If only I could fully accept the grace that got gives me, I could be free from so many things. How many of us have whispered those words allowed? With this book, I have had the privilege to not only study about grace but to be taken into a deeper understanding of grace. I love the way this book is set up. It is easy to read and really has helped me.

The book is a nine week study where we follow Paul as he experiences and teaches on grace. I sat down in my quiet place and began a journey that has not been completed yet. I wanted to rush through it, but I knew I would miss what God wanted me to absorb. It is funny how I have always thought, why does that person always seem to get a pass on things they are doing wrong? Ok so I found myself being judgmental and oh so jealous of others. I can have that same grace if only I would open my heart to receive it. I love the depth the study goes into and especially like the activities at the end of each chapter .

Oh how I loved this passage in the book, "The Heavenly Father draws us to the Cross of Christ because there-and only there-can His grace be applied. " To be at the foot of the cross and experience the true grace poured upon me is something I desire and want to fully understand. Can you see The Heavenly Father as He reaches down to say, " My child I have loved you always. Your sins are forgiven and my grace surrounds you? Yes that's the kind of relationship I want to have with God. The authors illustrations throughout the book are very eye opening and really gives readers a clearer understanding of how much He loves us.

I continue to grow spiritually everyday and this study has really helped me in my walk. I have always thought of myself as unloved and not worthy of His grace and mercy. I can see now how my thinking has held me back from so many opportunities to share his word. I have received His grace many times, but didn't really acknowledge it. How many times have we had the chance to give grave to someone, but instead was to prideful? In our everyday walk, we encounter people who may not drive fast enough for us, are slow to move down an aisle at the grocery store or talk so much you want to pull your hair out. Wouldn't it be nice if we took the time to say hi to that person who walked slower than we did? What if we sat and listened to that person and gave our undivided attention to them?"

I'm thankful that I was able to read this very powerful book. It has opened my eyes to areas in my life I need to work on. I will continue my journey with this book knowing that His grace is enough.

"Our Gracious God never wastes a trial He permits to enter our lives. If we cooperate, He will use every difficulty , heartache , and hardship for our good and His glory."

Review Title: Understand the Gift of Grace (review of Lavish Grace by Kathy Howard)
Reviewer: Janice S. Garey
***** 5 Stars
Every believer receives grace from God, "Pored Out, Poured Through, and Overflowing," as the subtitle of this book indicates. Yet few have an in depth understanding of what grace encompasses. Kathy Howard brings the subject into focus as with a magnifying glass to examine what it means to live out grace from the receiving to the giving.

The book makes the reader dig for their own answers to relevant questions about the topic. The Bible is the source book for answers and enlightenment. Kathy Howard asks the right questions to prompt diligent research to learn not only what she teaches, but also to discover how the Bible passages apply on an individual and personal level. The reader begins with a general knowledge of grace, but it gets refined as quickly as the reader moves through the book. It is designed for nine weeks, but can be done at another pace according to needs. The book works well for individuals or small groups. A leader's guide, at the back of the book, helps those who wish to go that route.

These days when so many people act rudely at the slightest offense, either real or imagined, a Christian who chooses to give grace stands out. This book will make you consider choosing to give grace because God gave it to you for your true offenses. By promoting more grace to be shown to needy individuals in the world, this book could potentially become a trend setter in making the world a better place to connect with people. It should be helpful to those who want to reach out and live missionally within their own communities.

This book was provided free of cost from bookfun.org, the author, and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All Christians, of all ages, will benefit from reading, studying, and acting on the material in this book. It is a disciple building tool.

Lavish Grace by Kathy Howard is an interesting book. It is designed to be an interactive nine-week bible study, but I think that it could also devotional of sorts too. The book is divided into three sections: “Grace Poured Out”, “Grace Poured Through” and “Grace Overflowing”. Each section is then divided into three week studies and each week into four sections.

To me, the section one, week one – Grace Note sets the tone of the entire book… “God woos us to Himself with whispers of grace.” The words written between the covers of this book will soothe your soul as you study Paul’s life and teaching on grace… to help you to discover the abundance of God’s grace for your own life.

Do not hold yourself to the nine weeks, take all the time that you need on each section, of each week to really allow God’s grace to pour itself into and over you.

I have always struggled with really grasping the concept of grace. I mean, I’ve had a basic idea but this book really opened my eyes to grace and how God has lavished His grace on me for many years. Years before I ever asked Him to come into my life.
With this study you will see grace through the eyes of Paul and how God was working in His life long before He ever struck him blind.
This is a nine-week study that will walk you through these many forms that grace can take. You can work your way through the week anyway you wish. You could do it all in one sitting or break it up (which is what I did). You could also do this study with other ladies or on your own, either way I think you will gain a deeper understanding of how God has shown His grace to you.
If you are looking for a new Bible study this might be the one for you.

I have read Lavish Grace by Kathy Howard. What a wonderful book. I love how it’s broken into different sections, I love that she uses real life examples to help illustrate the truths that she is sharing and I love the interaction that can happen when done in a group setting but also how it’s just as easy to complete this Bible study individually. Grace - a word that is used freely in our society but I wonder if it’s really understood? I know that I need lots more exposure and study of this word/concept before I will truly grasp what it all entails.

I highly recommend this book to whoever wants to learn more about grace - whether in a Bible study setting or by yourself.

I received this book for free from The Book Club Network and the author in exchange for my honest review. I placed my review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and Deeper Shopping, if available.

“Lavish Grace” by Kathy Howard is a wonderful 9 week devotional. Each devotional is separated by four sections: Learning It, Teaching It, Living It, and Grace Applied. Each devotion could be done all in one day, or it can be split into four different days.

These devotions focus on God’s grace. These devotions are well laid out. They show and remind us with practical applications of God’s grace.

I would definitely recommend this devotion.

I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.

God's grace is a great mystery and an even greater gift. Kathy Howard's 9 week study of Paul's encounters with God's lavish grace shows the reader how to identify God's grace and discover how to participate in that amazing grace with the people around us. This study is not only filled with solid biblical truths--it moves the reader to live a grace filled and grace full life. Lavish Grace by Kathy Howard is a great devotional. She intermixes all the wonderful elements that a devotional has - delving into the Scriptures, questions to ponder and dig deeper and personal illustrations to help cement the teachings. I learned a lot more about a topic that is complex, yet the basis of our foundation in Christ. I highly recommend this book to people who want to learn more Biblical truths about the very crux of Christianity.
