CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.

In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.

In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.

The more I read these the stories seem to become a little more of a struggle to read and the art becomes more stunning.

Crazy! The stakes have gone so high in these volumes!

The chess game and the overall rules and occurrences that happened involving the chess game were so interesting and suspenseful!

Sakura's decisions in trying to help everyone but then the outcome. Oh my god. So much suspense. And heartbreak!

And then everything from then till the end was intense and insane! I'm not even sure if I understand what's happened by the end but ahhh!

Keep the tissues from #6 handy. CLAMP ain't finished with us yet.

Goodness as if the last Omnibus didn't rock us enough, this one just keeps the twists and punches coming! Some really great psychological things are done with the characters at this point. I 100% believe them and their decisions, especially Sakura. Her development is fabulous, and she's starting to become less of a "damsel in distress" and more of a strong woman taking back her life.

Ultimately, though, this Omnibus is all about Fai, which we knew had to be coming at some point. His backstory is finally revealed to us and, man, if you thought Kurogane's was rough, this one is about to break your heart into a million pieces. This one can be a little confusing too. There are lies, dual perspectives, curses, and timelines to keep track of. I suggest thinking through the reveals in this Omnibus before moving on to make 100% certain you understand what was going on with Fai throughout the series. This will absolutely change your perspective of both him and the plot as a whole. I might even go back and reread parts of this Omnibus just to make sure I understand what was going on.

Still some violence and blood, though not as bad as the last one. But really intense and very sad storyline. So brace yourself.

Whaaaaaat. This one was intense! And the Fai backstory and cliffhanger.... I admit I'm not totally sure what just happened but I'm down to see where it goes!

Edit: Reread the whole omnibus knowing where it goes and caught/understood a lot more this time! Totally awesome.

Fai was always a favorite of mine, and this digs deep into his last. The art is beautiful and I have no idea what's going on.
