Stephen Curry

Rate this book
He was the son of shooting guard Dell Curry, who played for the Charlotte Hornets. Dell Curry often took his two sons, Stephen and Seth, to his games. The boys developed a passion for basketball early on through their father's fame and their frequent visits to his games, where they sometimes had the opportunity to shoot around with the Hornets during warm-ups and chat about the game. Curry also had an advantage in schooling, as his mother started the Montessori school he attended during early childhood. These schools focus especially on giving children freedom to roam and explore whilst showing them the natural limits that society places on them. In these environments a child's individuality and psychological well being are put above their grades or obedience. The school is characterized by specially trained teachers, mixed age classrooms, uninterrupted blocks of work time, student choice of activities from set lessons, freedom to move around the classroom and a guided learning method where children are encouraged to explore and discover, rather than instructed in what to do. This more relaxed environment, with complete freedom to develop as he wished, combined with his early exposure to basketball and his respect for his father's career and his mother's teaching methods, may have given Curry the prompt he needed to pursue his dreams of a career in basketball.

This book was not so great. The author did not really try to explain much about his NBA career and instead, focused more on his childhood. When I read this book I was confused because it said that he did not make the college team and then all of a sudden he got drafted to the NBA. The only good part was that it made his childhood details clear and that he went to college. Honestly, I did not really like this book but it was not too bad.
