So many books about Max and Ruby boil down to this one same problem: How can these two cute little bunnies get along? How can they play together?

In this title, Ruby wants to have a tea party and get dressed up. But -- predictably or not -- Max doesn't wish to play the same game. He wants to play pirate.

Will the two of them ever find a way to play together?

Surely it's not a spoiler to say that they (and author-and-illustrator Rosemary Wells) find a solution. A happy playtime solution.

FIVE STARS for these safe-feeling, happiness generating books. They bring hope to youngsters who have so many social skills yet to learn.

(7 year olds review) I thought Max was really funny when Ruby was asking him to put the tablecloth on and he used it for his pirate ship. I liked that he buried her jewelry for treasure.
