Now its Thursday and Rachel and Kirsty have decided to spend the day by visiting the aquarium. This means more and more under water animals and sea creatures... there also may be a little fairy named Thea the thursday fairy that needs help finding her magical flag. When Rachel and Kirsty find Thea in the water tank at the aquarium they know this means that she is their next fairy to help. The bad part is that there are also mean green goblins of Jack Frost`s on the way too!
Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic. Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies. On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon! If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!
There are seven Fun Day fairies and they are: Megan the Monday Fairy, Tallulah the Tuesday Fairy, Willow the Wednesday Fairy, Thea the Thursday Fairy, Freya the Friday Fairy, Sienna the Saturday Fairy and Sarah the Sunday Fairy.
Kirsty is staying with Rachel in Tippington Town for a week of school hols. Handy series in that it teaches the days of the week; activities are pretty varied as each fairy is simply responsible for making their day of the week fun. Twist for this series is that there is a riddle each day to help them find the Fun Day Flag.
Icy wind now fiercely blow! To the Time Tower I must go. Goblin servants follow me And steal the Fun Day flags I need. I know there will be no fun, For fairies or humans once the flags are gone. So, storm winds, take me where I say, My plan for chaos starts today!
I liked this book, it gave me the urge to read deeper in to the book, but it was quite short. I just want the book to be longer. It took me like maybe 3 minute to read it and that really disappointed me. Although it was a fantastic!!! I recommend it to kids who are just starting to read chapter books or if they need more confidence. I'm also sad that all of the rainbow magic series only have one villain.
Rachel and Kristy are at the aquarium and in one of the seahorse tanks, riding on the back of a seahorse, is Thea the Thursday Fairy. She's looking for her magical Thursday Flag. Rachel and Kristy help her. Thea tells the girls that in the book of days, the poem says that it will be on the back of a shark. Rachel and Kristy see goblins in one of the whale tanks and then they go over to a different whale tank because Thea knows that her flag isn't in there. In the other tank Kristy saw the flag. She said very loudly, "oh the poem said that the flag was on the back of a shark. There's a shark exhibit over at the end of the hall. Let's go check that." But Rachel and Kristy stay there, and the goblins run over to the shark tank. Thea uses magic to make her be able to breath under water and goes over into the tank. She grabs the flag and brings it back to Fairy Land.
This is the fourth of seven books in the Fun Day Fairies series by the group of authors who go by the name Daisy Meadows. It's a fun series, especially for young girls who are starting to read chapter books. We really liked the aquarium theme with all the sea creatures. Our favorite is the sea turtle. Our oldest is addicted!
March 2012 update: our youngest is now immersing herself in this series and is reading them very quickly, too. As inane as I thought they were, I love that this series is making readers of our girls. Hooray!
These books were so magical to me as a child. They really got me into reading and I was so addicted. They helped me learn the colours of the rainbow and entertained me for several years. The books aren't very good. I've tried reading them again because I was interested in what I saw in them. The books are very similar and repetitive but to child version of me, they were completely perfect!
