I ran as fast as I could. But you can’t outrun the devil when he’s on a motorcycle.
Charlotte I was born into the club life. My dad, the leader of the Unholys, always kept me safe. He had morals, a code of ethics. But when he committed suicide, all that went with him.
I wanted to escape the bloodshed, to start fresh. Johnny was the only reason I hadn’t left yet. After all, how could I leave without the man who made me moan until my throat hurt?
He said this was the last deal. As soon as it was done, we’d take off together. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned in this world, it’s this: There’s always one more twist in the road.
Johnny Charlotte is my girl. She’s got the face of an angel and a body like sin. I fought for her the first time we met, And I’d fight the whole world if it meant keeping her safe.
When her daddy died, I took up his mantle. I should’ve known better than to bargain with the devil. But this was my ticket out. One more deal, and I’d hit the road with my old lady, leaving this violent life be-hind.
But I didn’t count on being betrayed. When my best friend stabs me in the back and leads Charlotte into my enemy’s hands, There’s only one thing left to do: Wade into hell and get her back.
After all, not even Satan can take what’s MINE.
This book is a standalone novel, NO CHEATING OR CLIFFHANGERS. Contains an HEA ending.
There's not much to say cause the summary says it all. Very action packed and one heck of thrill ride. The author did an incredible job bringing this MC novel to life with bullets flying, acts of betrayal and the ultimate sacrifice. How far would you go to call it quits?
" Sometimes men have bad things in them. Sometimes they've got demons and they need to be exorcised. It's not something any priest can do, only a man and his own hands. [...] So we can go home to our loves and our wives as nothing more than the men we are."
Charlotte has grown up in the MC life, but after her father's suicide this lifestyle becomes too much for her. Johnny steps up as the president of The Unholys after the Reverend's suicide. Johnny seeks revenge for his president's death, he needs to find out if the Reverend truly committed suicide or if he got killed by a rival club. But he is caught between finding the truth or quitting the MC lifestyle and start a fresh , peaceful-ever-after life with Charlotte. I'm pleased with this read !
Charlotte Canders has grown up in the MC life, but after her Father's suicide, the leader of the Unholys, blood and violence is all too much for her. Johnny Rykers, her one and only lover of 10yrs, is the present leader. Their love is real but fragile. There's violence from the outset and plenty of sex scenes throughout BUT...the whole camaraderie and brotherhood this genre usually possesses was missing. It was written in the two leads pov, on their thoughts, past and present. Overall, the Unholys MC were legal, weak and tame. In contrast, their rivals, the Berserkers, were the opposite. Human trafficking, drugs, pornography and rape. It was a potentially good storyline but it felt drawn out and prolonged. Contents aside, it felt like a coming of age novel. I admit to skimming pages because it couldn't hold my interest, although it did pick up nearing the end. Wouldn't recommend to any real die hard MC fans though...
I finished it! The story of Johnny (President of the Unholy's MC) and Charlotte (Daughter of the Ex-President of the Unholy's MC). I started out really liking the story, as it was something different, something I had never read before...in other words it had high expectations to 'WOW" me...and it didn't.
What was different was that Johnny and Charlotte were already in a relationship from the very beginning. This was a different twist where we do not get to read about the couple falling in love with each other on their road to happily ever after. Charlotte is grieving from a loss and starts questioning if she wants to be in the MC lifestyle anymore. Johnny is madly in love with Charlotte and notices that she is unhappy and is willing to do almost anything to make her happy. There was also some MC drama, but it felt more like a couple of gangs having beef.
What attracted me to this book was I had just finished reading "Wanted: County Knights MC" and it was an awesome read because it was not your typical MC romance...it gave me different. As mentioned above, this was different which made me want to read it right away, but it fell short of my expectations.
Why Not 5 Stars?
Johnny & Charlotte - I was never invested in their relationship. I could not feel anything for them as a couple. I thought both characters were weak. Johnny's inner dialogue about being scared and wanting out, made him a poor excuse of a MC president and bad-ass biker. Charlotte had a lot of 'woe is me' head talk which got on my nerves. I could not really figure out her purpose, other than to be the heroine in the story. She was just there. Johnny and Chalotte did not work for me.
MC Drama - The MC drama was not exciting and some of the pieces just did not add up and/or details were missing. The drama did not feel like it was well thought out.
MC was not really into illegal things - I thought this was pushed too much! There were so many references to the MC being mainly into legal businesses, it was too much and made the story more unbelievable.
Dragged - It took a long time for me to finish reading this story. It dragged with some repeating scenes told from different POV's, the sex scenes were not hot (use of the word 'member' drove me crazy), in fact, I don't think Johnny and Charlotte said anything to each other for the first 20% of the story (probably why I was not invested in them as a couple).
