Unaware of the volatile past between her brother and her Commander, Harlow EnemyHunter doesn’t understand her Commander’s clear aversion to her presence on his team. Determined to fit in, Harlow goes to great lengths to prove her worth, earn respect, and hide her infatuation for her Commanding Officer.

Remy McCabe has waited years to get revenge on fellow Skin Walker, Mason EnemyHunter. What better way to hurt a Walker then to hurt those that he loves? When Harlow is brought to Remy all he has to do is ignore his inner beasts and follow through with his plan to use her to hurt Mason. Problem is, not only can he not bring himself to hurt Harlow, his damn protective instincts surge to the fore every time she’s near.

When war is brought to StoneCrow, all bets are off and Remy is torn between protecting Harlow and allowing her to be the solider she’s trained to become.

My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow Estates and the North Fortress. Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures. My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scandinavian ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations (White Clay and Nakoda) that inspire my Skin Walker series.

I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots (“…sometimes quiet is violent”). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't love beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)

Please leave feedback….well, only if it’s positive. “Keep in mind that I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit!  (Erykah Badu lyrics!)

Great book. I was thrilled to see Remy get his happy ending. But, the ending...oh my god, such a cliffhanger!

Moral indignation is jealousy with a halo. - H. G. Wells

“My name is Recker. I need to speak with you.”

Throwing a longing look at her cordless phone lying useless on her coffee table next to her book, Harlow feigned a cheery tone as her eyes shot to her bedroom door. She had a shotgun beside her bed, but wondered if she were being over-cautious. “Don’t know any Recker. I’m afraid you have the wrong apartment.”

“I have the right apartment. Open the door.”

Open the door? His command had her silently cursing the lack of peephole as she slowly backed away from the door, glancing longingly at her bedroom. Okay, that definitely warranted a shotgun response. She hustled toward her bedroom door, snagging her cordless phone on her way with suddenly trembling fingers. She cursed when it slipped from her fumbling hands, bouncing nearly silently on the carpeted floor. “Shit!” she whispered, then offered more loudly, “I don’t know you!” Annoyed at herself now, she added some heat to her tone as she dropped to her knees, snatching up her phone. “Go away!” - Susan A. Bliler, “Skin Walkers: Remy

Harlow Armstrong’s life has been, well, shitty since the day she was born. Left at the door of a fire station, she bounced from foster home to foster home. “Once even the worst home refused to accept her, she was placed in a group home, where she remained until she aged out.” Hey, give a girl a break. Being unwanted has a tendency to tweak the attitude, all right? Now twenty-seven, Harlow lives in a crappy apartment, in a crappy building, and works a crappy job. Well, it pays the bills. And when you are dumped on the street at eighteen with no real education and the clothes on your back, you make do. And she does. Really. Well, sorta, but she pays her bills, so there is that.
Then, there is the knock at her door. And all blue-blooded Hell breaks loose.

Fast forward six months and Harlow’s life is weirder, and yes, more wonderful, than she could have ever dreamed possible. For Harlow has a brother. A brother who has been searching for her for years, and is over-the-moon at finally finding her. A brother who, oh, by the way . . . can change into different animals at a thought!

Determined to be useful to these incredible people who have turned her life into a fairy tale, Harlow tries lots of things, from gardening (Meh.) to secretarial (Ugh.) But when she sees the Sentries, the elite guards of the Walkers at StoneCrow Estates, she knows she has found her match. Growing up she had to use feet and fists to survive. And she is determined to pay her way by being one of that exclusive group.

Of course, Brother Mason is horrified. Especially when he realizes that his enemy, Remy McCade, is head of training for the new Sentries. For you see, Remy and Mason have a history. A history neither wants Harlow to know.

Susan truly steps up her game with “Remy.” The Skin Walkers series started out with “King,” a paranormal romance with a Native American twist. As a Native herself, Susan was creating a world that could be our own, with Skin Walkers living in the shadows, simply trying to make a life for themselves and their families without interference from the public or government. Or from shadowy creatures called the Megalya, monsters who hunt them for their souls.

As the series develops Susan has grown her cast, developed her world, and now the horrors in the shadows are coming, fully-formed and deadly. The Walkers and their families, their way of life, and their lives themselves are in mortal danger, and death hangs over all.

Harlow is in mortal danger as well – and no matter how hard he has tried to stay away from her and her brother, he may very well be the only thing between Harlow and a horrific end.

Yes, I am Susan’s editor. But don’t jump to conclusions. This series is wonderful, with truly strong women characters who don’t allow themselves to be pushed around by the men in their lives. The world building is strong, characters interesting, and the story development throughout is building to the point where the paranormal romance is taking a bit of a backseat to suspense and strong characterizations. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend the series. And check out her “Territory” series as well. Susan pays homage to her bloodline and its stories in a subtle and yet powerful way that keeps me riveted to her every word!

Wish I could have given it 5 stars

3 1/2 -4 stars. I'm not sure if I'm getting picky, or my tastes are changing, but I actually started out rating this story 5 stars, but as I thought about it after I read it, I kept feeling the need to lower my rating. First, the good-- I felt it was VERY entertaining and action packed (which was why I was considering a 5 star rating). I actually liked the dynamic between the H and h--I have a thing for couples who feel they shouldn't be together for some reason--this one "revenge" on the H's part, but I never felt he hated her, and was confused by his responses to her from the beginning. I loved the h's character. She was a fighter, both mentally and physically, and learned to stand up for herself. She also didn't turn into a "super fighting machine", and actually had to deal with quite a lot of issues during basic training. As far as the relationship goes, I liked Remy's growth during it, and even though things turned around once the "affliction" hit, I felt he handled himself in the possessive alpha character I love.

Some things I questioned: ok, so I have read all the books in this series as they were released, starting off with Conn. I admit it was a few years ago, but I am having trouble with the ongoing timeline with books being released out of order. Maybe I should have read Conn's book again before I tackled this one, but I really don't remember Mason and Amanda's story (the whole reason for the revenge angle). Maybe it's going to be book #3 or 4 since they were not released yet. The beginning sequence of how Harlow and Remy first met seemed a little disjointed from the rest of the storyline for me--I'm actually not sure why, but I found it out of places do kind of confusing--like shay was Remy there in the first place? I also wished more details/ backstory was given--the story definitely could have benefitted from being longer. I do realize this is the way this author tends to write, so I was kind of expecting a shorter lengthen book. An example of this is what was with the red oil? I did not get this aspect at all. Probably the biggest issue I had with the story was the quick turnaround by the h in the end. I felt the author did a FANTASTIC job making the reader (me) believe she was emotionally crushed by when she learned about Remy and Mason's issues with each other, and why Remy may have wanted to use her. There was a LOT happening around them at the time, and I really did want to see this couple happily together, but I felt the change from her being "devastated" to Remy being "her man" within a couple of paragraphs was a little much.

Fans of this series will most likely enjoy this one, but I feel the world of "Skinwalkers" is a little too confusing (mostly due to a lack of detailed backstory, and a wide range of secondary characters) to just jump right in and read it if you have not read some of the other books in the series. Like the other stories, there is no epilogue, but a lead in to the next book which looks very engaging. I'm not sure who the new couple will be, but I will most likely read it.

Re-reading this series, and was hesitant to read Remy's book because I had forgotten his story and all the previous books made him out to be such a narcistic jerk. Especially after Mason's book comes out and you really see that he wasn't ignoring Amanda as thought but was actually on a mission during most of the book. And while he over reacted to losing her to Mason, he really wasn't as attached as he made out but his ego was very bruised. And the books before that made him out to be complete monster, so reading about Remy wasn't really very enticing.
BIG MISTAKE! This book really rounds Remy out, his first encounter with Harlow isn't really a great beginning to his book, but it does take two, and Harlow instigated the scene, so I forgive him. By the end of the book I liked Remy and respected his growth throughout the book. Disappointed with the lack of completion, and this book was incredibly short. In fact I read Mason's and Remy's in the same day.
While disappointed, i am not discouraged and will move to the next book.
This series is great and well worth your time and $$.

This was such a great book... it ended to soon and wished there was more of Remi and Harlow.

Harlow was raised in foster care not knowing she had any family at all, she was found by a team if men her brother hired to find her. After 6 months of settling in and getting to know her brother Harlow decided she wants to join the sentries training.. her last free weekend before training she decides to let loose and have a quick fling.
Remy is in charge of training the sentries, he cant believe he will have to train his enemies sister.. until he finds out she is the mystery woman from the past weekend, the one he regrets not getting her name or number.
After weeks of training and Harlow taking the blunt of the beatings she admits to Remi she has feelings for him but will fight them off. StoneCrow is under attack and she is taken, when Remi finds her he is afflicted and she is heartbroken finding out all the things Remi has done.

So unfinished

God I think this is the third book of the series where the woman was collard against her will, and then she just let that shit slide... SERIOUSLY!?! Aaaaand, so he collared her, but the story ends with him being still afflicted because he didn't finish the claiming, there was no Happily ever after, the story just cut off... This series started out so promising, but the guys keep getting worse in my opinion.

Although I really liked this story I felt like the ending was way too rushed. I get that you want to lead this story into the next but I almost felt like she just abruptly ended this story as soon as harlow and remy got together.

Remy (Skin Walkers 10)  Susan A. Bliler

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, Sci-fi and Fantasy

I’ve never jumped quite so far into an established series and was a bit concerned that starting at book ten would mean I’d miss or get confused by much of the content. It sounded such a fun read though that I didn’t want to pass up the chance to read it, and fortunately my fears were unfounded.
Susan manages to give enough info for me to keep up with the back story while enjoying the current one. I guess I’d get even more from it had I read (some of) the first nine ;-) Maybe get some of the more subtle references, but as it was its a story I really enjoyed with a fabulous blend of romance, paranormal and excitement that still felt “real” to me. Even in fantasy I need to feel that if that world created was real the events could happen.

I enjoyed Harlow’s determination to prove herself, to not been seen as weak just because she’s human. I hate feeble, knuckle under and whinge heroines and Harlow is the perfect type for me, strong, stubborn and not one to be pushed aside easily just because she’s female and human. She learns quickly though that she can build her physical strength, build her skills, but still won’t have that physical edge the Walkers do. Her brother doesn’t want her training with the Walkers, he has an on-going feud with their CO Remy, and wants his little sister well away from him. Turns out though they’ve already met, in a torrid and sensual night of passion where body fluids but not names were exchanged! That sensuality still sizzles between them however much they try to ignore it.

Remy has seen an opportunity to get the ultimate revenge on her brother, Mason by using his sister and been searching for her for that purpose for some time, but when he actually meets Harlow somehow all his logic and plans get overturned by the protective instincts she raises in him. He’s not happy about that, Harlow isn’t happy about the way things have worked for her, and that her training gets put back for a time, and Mason isn’t happy that Harlow’s wishes will bring her into Remy’s sphere. Can they all get what they want or will everything go Boom with the ultimate explosion of personalities? It all comes to a head just as outside influences bring war to the heart of Stonecrow.

Stars: Four, a great read even though I jumped in late to the story.

I wasn't that impressed by this one. Maybe it was because I had felt like I waited a really long time for it and then it came out and I had to high expectations. I read the author's blog and she had made a comment that this character was based on Gambit from the X-men. The only thing this guy had in common with Gambit was his eyes. Also the main chick in this thing kept saying she learned how to be tough form being by herself her entire life but every time she fought anyone she sucked.....she was basically the little engine that couldn't. I hope this doesn't come off as super negative....I'm just disappointed.

Just finished book 10 of Skin Walkers series , loved it

Ok I'm addicted, once I read the first book I couldn't stop until I read the rest. But can't find books 3 & 4, anyone know where I can get them? I read 1,2,5,6,7,8,9 and now 10 and I love the way the walkers develop and each one has their own story and challenges to face. Remy was so sexy in this one, but can't wait to see what happens with Eden and Monroe!

Not up to expectations...not "complete".

I have enjoyed all of the skin walker books, even one or two where the man was a bit of an ass. This story was not a freestanding story complete within itself. I wish the blurb had stated this so I could have saved a few dollars. After all the other novels in this series, I was surprised of the incomplete feeling at the end of this book. I will be more careful with stories from this author in the future.

Holy Crow!!!! What a mess!!!

Ok. Harlow is Mason's long lost sister. Commander Remy McCabe is Mason's enemy. They hate each other. Harlow meets Remy and really likes him. Remy really likes Harlow. Due to the feud serious troubles begin. Suddenly we have an attack. War is declared and all heck breaks loose!! The next installment better be soon . I'm hanging here!!

Since the beginning when Remy kidnapped Con's angel and so forth, I have always wondered who his true angel was. In the back of my mind I thought maybe it was Mason sister.

I feel cheated.

This book ended two chapters too soon and the chapters that were there seemed rushed. Wait for the next book to be published before reading #10 of this series.
