Overall Opinion: This wasn't my favorite. I really struggle with instalove, and this was a perfect example of it IMO. It even became so cheesy sweet that I was about to put it on my dnf shelf at one point. Don't get me wrong -- I don't mind sweet gushy moments, but I need to understand the connection before that happens. They spend a little bit of time together in one night (that didn't reveal any real personal information about either of them), and while I understand their lust -- I don't understand their instant feelings of love and of each other being the "one". I also had big issues with the crybaby h. I like strong female roles, and if they are damaged I'm ok with it if I understand the reasoning. This h? I think she was just immature and a crybaby.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Abby and Dane's story. After a moment of rebellion, Abby decides to walk to an art exhibit and gets attacked. Dane happens to come across the scene and saves her. She ends up following him to the apartment he's staying at to help him clean up and one thing leads to the next. After a shocking revelation about Dane's identity, Abby leaves and they spend the next 2 months apart and pining for each other. They're reunited, and some things get straightened out, they have some sexy times, some cheesy sweet moments, and some big drama...but they get their HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Abby and Dane's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. It was this weird kindle edition that included another book, so it ended at 42% and that always throws me off. Once I saw that it was indeed 238 pages on my kindle I wasn't as frustrated...but I wasn't expecting it so I was frustrated. Otherwise, I didn't skim and I thought it flowed well until all the HEA was crammed in at the very end.

Instalove: Yes! Way too instalove for me! They were together one night and then pined over each other for 2 months acting like they already loved the other person! I need way more development of feelings -- probably my biggest issue (other than the h).

H rating: 4 stars. Dane. He had a crap situation that he was put in, and deep down he was a really good guy. I liked him.

h rating: 2 stars. Abby. I had some issues with how she would cry. I like strong hs and while I wouldn't go as far as to say she was like a doormat h, I wanted her to be stronger. She had big issues with disappointing her father, and would (what felt like constantly) cry about it. I just took it as immaturity. I was even expecting the author to drop in an unexpected pregnancy to explain her emotions, but nope!

Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed.

Heat level: Moderate. They had some hot chemistry and scenes.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes and no. Some mention of condoms being used, and then other scenes without mention. No mention of previous practices with other partners that I remember.

OW/OM drama:Yes, but not in the usual way

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: It had ok closure with a HEA ending. I still felt like it could've been more and I say "HEA" hesitantly.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: Safe with exception

Dane Bell and Abigail Rawlings come from very different worlds. He’s an ex-con who can’t find work and she’s Daddy’s little princess from a wealthy Atlanta family. Her father and step-mother are overbearing and over-protective. His parents have disowned him. These polar opposites meet in an unconventional manner and immediately fall in lust. The insta-love is strong in this one, folks.

Here’s what I liked: The hero - Dane Bell has taken a few hard knocks in life, but he refuses to let it get him down. He’s former military, an all-around good guy, handsome, and sweet. He wasn’t as “alpha” as like, but I still really liked him. The basic plot concept could have been really great. There was an unexpected twist that added an element of suspense. Also, the audiobook narration was great and the ending was satisfying sweet.

Here’s what tripped me up: I honestly couldn’t decide if this book was YA, Juvenile, New Adult or Romance. At certain moments, the heroine was treated and acted like a child. Then shortly after, the reader is supposed to believe she’s a 22 year old woman dating a 29 year old man.

 photo sorry.gif

I was not convinced!

Abby is a self-professed “daddy’s girl”. She used the word daddy about 100 times over the course of the novel - and not the quasi-sexy use of the word. She was actually either speaking to or about her father. That was a problem for me. It may just me, so please disregard if that sounds sweet to you. Needless to say, she was a tad immature. As a result, she made some pretty bad decisions that nearly caused my eyes permanent damage.

Seriously, they nearly rolled out of my head.

Audiobook review: The audiobook is narrated by Melissa Moran. She did a wonderful job. Great pace, inflection, and execution.

Overall, this was just an ok read for me. Honestly, I struggled a bit to finish it.

This book is too much. The character, especially Abby is very very annoying. Yes I know she is suppose to be this daddy girl. And she delivered with so much childish perfection. Oh I hate her. Wish Lauren Landish's hand, I am expecting more complex character out of Abby.

This book is for NA audience. It has so much insta lust/ love without serious character development. Dane is also annoying. He is portrays as a guy who feels sorry for himself. I guess Abby and Dane is perfect for each other. They can wallow on their own misery.

Overall I do not enjoy this book. What a shame since I do like Miss Landish other books.

Nice easy read

There's loads of reviews so I'll skip the summary and just give my thoughts and opinion.
It's a nice enough quick read certainly quicker than expected, you have to feel sorry for Dane who's a really nice guy that up until now has been dealt a bad hand, Abby was ok all the 'daddy' stuff got a bit much at times for me but the blurb did say 'She’s daddy's little girl' so I had been warned.
It's an insta-love which is not usually my thing.
I'm a huge fan of dual POV books but this is very repetitive and I found myself skimming time and time again.
While it was obvious which way it was heading the extend with which it went there was a surprise, well to me anyway.
Ends at 41% then bonus book 'Relentless'

It was okay...

Nothing special. Not even memorable. Very basic and cliché romance. A wealthy female protagonist, who has no common sense, needs rescuing from a misunderstood tough guy. They end up saving each other in more ways than one.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Dane Bell was a soldier that had his career ended by someone that betrayed him. He was a good man and because he followed his instincts to protect someone he committed a felony. Abby is a daddy's girl all the way she's never had a reason to fight the constrains until she met Dane. When Abby ends up in danger because of an impulsive decision Dane steps in to help her. Neither knows each other but are drawn instantly to one and another.

Dane is recently released from prison when he meets Abby. All he wants to do is move forward with his life but his past keeps him from doing that. Abby wants to finally be treated like an adult and so far she almost got rape for her efforts however meeting Dane that night changed everything for her. They end up having a night together before she finds out who he is and storms out. Dane is torn up when Abby leaves and he tries to reconnect with her because of the deep connection he feels for her. Abby avoids Dane's calls until she talks with her best friend Shawnee who convinces her to hear him out. They have a lot going against them her father doesn't like him, his past, and strangers attack him because of what they think he has done. No one ever gives Dane the chance to explain his side of what happened but he desperately wants Abby to listen.

This story had me from the first page. I loved it and was wanting Dane and Abby to beats the odds against them. There is a surprise in this story that even I didn't see and trust me I'm usually pretty good at guessing things when reading a book. Betrayed by people Dane didn't expect changed his entire world however it was Abby that changed his life. I recommend you read this book is you haven't you definitely won't regret it. A five star read in my opinion. Will be looking up more books by this author from now on.

I just can't. Couldn't even finish it. Barely got past a couple chapters. The characters are flawed. But the thing that really annoyed me is the writing style. It repeats every scene twice because it's in the guy's POV then the female's pov. Ugh. So dumb.

Abby and Dane’s story is a thrilling romance or a romantic thriller depending on the point of view.
Both characters fall fast for each other without knowing about the other’s past at first.
When Abby finds out about Dane’s past she feels betrayed, disgusted and disappointed…
Then everything escalates really fast…leaving my head spinning and my heart racing...

Thanks to these awesome characters and the fantastic plot this book is a real page turner and an absolute must read!

WOW!!!! Lauren Landish did an amazing job. I have had the privilege of reading one of her books before and I have to say she has never disappointed me. I love the fact that she drove the point that things are not always as they seem. Often times we judge with not knowing all the facts. I also love the fact that this book had more then one strong woman character.

Abigail “Abby” Rawlings was a daddy’s girl. She was the apple in her dad’s eye. Her father Patrick Rawling wanted the best for Abby. He wanted her to have a man with a good job. He wants Abby to finish college and become all that she wanted to be.

Dane Bell was a dishonorably discharged former soldier with a felony on his rap sheet. He was charged with murdering another solider. Not only a soldier but a friend. The thing about Dane is there is more to him then meets the eye. People that look at him see the bad boy, the guy with tats, and the guy with a murder charge.

Dane had it lucky. Though his family and friends had turn their back on him, he had one friend that stood by him. Chris had served with Dane and knew what had happen. Chris was going above and beyond by helping him. There is no telling where Dane would of been if it wasn’t for Chris.

Abby’s father does not like that Abby was seeing Dane. Patrick Rawlings has put his foot down and forbidden her to see him. Abby will find she will have some important decisions she will need to make. Will she be with Dane or will she listen to her father?

As you are reading this book you will see that Abby is not the only strong woman in this book. You will meet Shawnie Abby’s best friend and Brittany Abby’s step-mother. I loved Shawnie. She was a true best friend. She helped open Abby’s eye when it came to not judging a book’s by it’s cover. Brittany might be prim and proper but do not let that fool you. She has taken on the role of being a step-mother not knowing the first thing about having a daughter. She loves Abby and is having to find middle ground between Abby and Patrick.

Abby will be in trouble. Dane will have some choses to make. He will have to find a way to save Abby. He choses will determine what kind of a man he will be. Does he have what it takes to get people to listen to him?

Danger, intrigue and sparks to spare in this highly enjoyable bad boy story – 4.8 stars

We meet Dane, fresh from 5 years at Leavenworth. The result of a military court-martial so he has no parole officer, no assistant in getting a job and has just received his 200th rejection for employment. Abby is at a society event with her Daddy and her stepmother. Her mother and sister having died in a car accident many years before. Abby is a college senior and wants to go to a showing with her best friend. Tired of the etiquette and social mores, she walks out of her Daddy’s event and heads toward her friend, at a walk as she left her phone in her other purse.

Abby’s walk takes her through a park where she is attacked by two men, but before they get too far Dane who is also in the park dispatches the men and takes Abby back to his place at Abby’s insistence to clean up a bad cut from a ring Dane received. They are mutually attracted and have a passionate night together. When Abby gets up she sees a picture of ex-flame Chris who had told her of an incident where a man was killed and another went to jail. She realizes then that she just slept with a murderer. She confronts Dane, and storms out of the apartment.

Is Dane a bad man, will the world ever let him move on with his life, will he ever find a job? Will Abby give Dane a chance to tell his side of what happened, will her overbearing father lock her up and throw away the key? Two young people looking to find their way in this world, and the complications and heartbreak that happen along the way.

Intriguing twists in the storyline; characters are well developed and relatable; the relationships are believable and sexy, resulting in an enjoyable story I would definitely recommend.

And Lauren has done it again... Amazing!!! I absolutely loved this book, the story was brilliant and the characters were perfect! I couldn't put it down once i started!
Abby is a daddy's girl... She's 23! She lives with her father and his wife of 13 years, Brittany. She is a good girl and works hard at school, she generally does as she's told, until it comes to Dane!!!
Dane comes from a colourful background and yes with his looks and sexy body, he has a past with lots of women too. He enrolled in the Army to straighten himself out and ended up in prison, for 5 years.
Without giving away any spoilers, ill just say that i recommend this book as a brilliant read! The story follows the struggles of how a rich daddy's girl and an ex con fall in love, its beautiful to read! With a huge twist, their pasts come back to bite them on the ass... Will they be able to overcome it all? Is love enough to keep them strong? When the secrets are revealed, will help arrive before its too late? Can these two wonderful people finally get their HEA? Or with circumstances drag them apart forever?

This story had great promise. We have a priveledged twenty-two year old who calls her father 'Daddy' and has a stepmother who rules with an iron fist. That same stepmother is also judgemental and extremely concerned with appearances. Finally putting her foot down, Abby leaves a dinner only to find herself in danger -- and it's Dane who saves her.

A twist ties them together, and a further twist (one that actually surprised me) puts their growing relationship in jeopardy.

The storyline itself had it's plusses. The characters were complex and were on track for being well-rounded. My issue, then, lay in the writing style. I found myself losing interest in the wordy descriptions and further found myself skimming for promising dialogue. The only point where the dialogue got to be annoying was when Chris was telling his story later on. Also, I enjoyed the growing relationship between Dane and Abby, but I did find it to be quick.

Altogether, this was an ok read. I wouldn't be opposed to reading (skimming?) Shawnie's story, though, if that were one Ms. Landish were looking to write.

The story started out ok, but I couldn't deal with the constant recall of all the heros past sexual experiences.

I was almost ok with it, but it just got to be too much. Not for me.

Dane Bell is a solider whose career has ended due to a betrayal. He followed policy and procedure and because he did that, that all failed him. Someone was out to get him and they won. All because he did what he was supposed to do to save someone, he ended up having committed a "crime:" and was imprisoned for it. Now is out of prison and is recently learning to live life on the outside and it is hard. Dane is not willing to believe in people again until...until he meets her.
Abby Rawlings is a sweet and independant woman who loves her dad very much. They were once a team until he married again and then it seemed things werent as cut and dried and he started in on her doing things proper and pushing her into doing things she didnt like or want to do but she did it because she loved her dad and wanted to make him happy. Abby is very much a daddy's girl. She did what he asked even though it bothered her greatly. One night walking home she was almost raped. A man saved her and her life changed and this man changed her life. They have a special night together until her father calls her and things change and she finds out whom he is...Dane is this man and he leaves her in anger. Abby goes ahead and leaves hurt and doesnt know what to think anymore after they had this wonderful evening.

Dane wakes up and realizes they had this great time and the feelings between them were real and deep. Dane makes the decision to get back in touch with Abby and starts calling but she refuses to talk to him or take his calls. In the meanwhile, Abby talks to her friend, Shawnee who gets her to see what a special connection the two have and wakes her up to this .Abby ends up speaking to Dane and they talk and reconnect again. They go to her father and let him know they are together and will be together. The deck is stacked against them because her father is against them being together --but her father is attacked by strangers who have some sort of misguided thoughts about what they think her father has done in his business dealings. Also Abby and Shawnee are in trouble during the time and Dane ends up saving his woman and helping out her father.

There are lies, betrayals, doubts, passion, anger, but there is also hope, joy, and most of all love. I loved the message of this book and recommend this to all who love a great underdog love story that has a fantastic romantic angle to it. Abby and Dane are delish together and I cannot wait to read what is next.

My Rating: 5 stars *****

This is my first time reading anything by Lauren Landish and I'm already looking forward to reading more by this author. I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I did with this one and, boy, am I glad I did. The cover and title plus the fact the title labels the book as a Bad Boy Romance? I just had to read this. Hopefully, there aren't too many spoilers ahead. :)

Abby is the epitome of a Daddy's Girl but she's finally had enough one night when her parents drag her to some boring dinner and won't let her leave early to meet her best friend as she had originally planned. She storms out and gets lost on her way to the museum and two guys attack her in the park. That's when she meets Dane.

Dane spent five years in Leavenworth after being royally screwed by the government and was just released three months ago. During the day, he tries to get a job but all he receives is one rejection after another. At night, he walks off the anger and disappointment of the day. On a particularly disappointing day, he just received his two hundredth job rejection, Dane was walking in the park when he saw a girl being attacked by two guys and even though he knew he could get into trouble he just had to intervene.

That's the start of Abby & Dane's love story and oh, wow, is it a great one. With plenty of twists and turns in the plot (with a couple I did not see coming) and a very sweet HEA ending. Even though this is a standalone novel I'm hoping the author will give us a little peek at Abby & Dane by writing Shawnie's (Abby's best friend) story.

I received this for my honest review. The two main characters of Abbie and Dane were amazing totally different from each other and both had such depth in their characters and the characters around them were brilliant. Abigail (Abby) Rawlings is a daddy's girl through and through,You would expect her to rebel against her daddy to show she had grown up and wanted to be treated as an adult. Dane Bell is a veteran who served 5 years in Leavenworth Military Prison for a murder of another soldier but things aren't what they seem lots of bad publicity and Dane, like so many people was screwed by the justice system. But this story had so many twists and turn, that once you start reading this you can't stop a really emotional page turner. Dane's life dealt him a rough ride but he learnt who his friends were and proved he could be so much more.........This story really impressed me because not only was it a bad boy love story there are so many other things that I never saw coming.

Abby is about to graduate from college. She's a bit spoiled and is Daddy's Little Girl.

Dane has recently been released from Leavenworth Prison and is having a difficult time landing on his feet. He is apartment sitting for a friend and spending his days searching for a job, but nobody will hire him because of his record.

One evening Abby is attacked by two men in the park. Dane comes to her rescue, and their attraction begins. When Abby finds out about Dane's past though, she wants nothing to do with him.

Dane finally convinces Abby to hear his version of what really happened. From there the story takes many twists and turns.

The characters in this book are very well written. The plot doesn't go where you expect it to. This is an excellent read!

I did not just love this book, I would rank this book as one of my favorite books that I have read lately, and I read lots of books. I have not ever read a book by Lauren Landish before, but agreed to receive this book for free in return for an honest review, because it looked like it might be good. I was right, but it is even better than good. The characters are great. The author does a great job developing them to the point you feel their emotions. This book is not all about sex, even though it does have a few really steamy hot scenes, it is more of a great story with lots of twists and turns that you are not expecting, that will suck you into it, and not let you go; hense, the reason that I would not put the book down until I had finished it. I highly recommend this book.

ARC for honest review. I absolutely loved this book. I had previously never read anything from this author until this book...but am definitely a fan now. This book really had a lot of great things in it, love, tragedy & suspense. The hero, which truly is a hero in my book, goes through a tragic accident during his time in the army leading to prison with a dishonorable discharge. After he gets out, he has hard time all around....very sad actually, especially since he was trying to do the right thing. The heroine is a pampered daddy's girl, but in an adorable way. The entire book had me sucked in and then it really got intense and had me not wanting to put it down. I really loved it and put more of Lauren Landish's books on my "Want to read" list.

I couldn't finish this. There was no differentiation between the voices of the characters. The H barely sounded like a man, and certainly not an ex-military, ex-convict bad boy. He sounded more like a polite southern belle. There was so much repetition - you see a scene from the h's POV, then turn around and see the exact same scene from the H's POV. The couple sex scenes I read were meh at best. And honestly, there was so much unnecessary detail that I wouldn't be surprised if, at some point in the book, one of the characters were to go into detail about some mundane chore like brushing their teeth or how they laced up their shoes. I made it about 30% of the way through before I just gave up.

I'm leaving a review because I got a ARC copy. I never got my novel that goes with the ARC copy, but I'm not mad lol. Wow the plot twist was PHENOMENAL!! I can't believe Chris and Lloyd were the bad guys. Especially all their lives. Geezus its nothing like being sociopaths and rapist to solidify a friendship(sarcasm). I didn't like how Dane was treated by the police. I would've sued their asses, and that's a promise not a threat! All in all the storyline was original, and the plot was on point. There's barely any grammatical errors. I really wish you had an epilogue, so we can see a couple yrs down the line of Dane and Abby. Other than that it was a great read!

Easy read

Dane are having trouble finding a job after coming out of jail. Abby is assaulted and Dane rescue her and they fall in love of course.
This book was hard to read in the beginning but it was growing on me. The story is good. And the writing style is easy but at the same time almost boring. The thing I didn't like was that i couldn't feel the characters and the surroundings, it was like a grey bubble. And I like colourful vibrating descriptions that will make me feel like I'm living in the book.
I'm sorry to say that it will only be 3 stars from me, but it's not so bad that I regret reading it. So if you want an easy read this one is okay.

WOW!!! I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Where to start? This is one of Ms Landish's best book. Dane and Abby are well written characters. The plot is full of surprises and very suspenseful. Dane is a man who has lived a tough life yet he is noble in his deeds. Abby lives a privileged life and doesn't let it go to her head. She comes to realize Dane was given a raw deal while in the Army and sees the true man for who he is. The supporting characters were well written. I loved this story and look forward to more books from Ms Landish.

A romance between a bad boy, ex-military con and a good girl is so appealing. Off Limits is full of problems and unexpected twists for the two main characters, fun, a bit of danger and conflict in the form of a disapproving father. I enjoyed the book from the first page to the last and recommend it to romance lovers looking for a bit of hot excitement in the pages of the books they enjoy.

I could not get enough and the style and creativity of her writing sucks you in and leaves you breathless. Still trying to catch my breath while I wait for the next epic release..
