This book is written a complementary volume to the author's earlier publication, Welding Processes And Technology. It covers almost all the major aspects of welding not included in the earlier volume such as flow in welding and its metallurgical and mechanical effects. Weldability and weldability tests as also the weldability of some industrially important engineering materials are described in detail. Quality control and repair & maintenance welding are detailed at length. Weld joint design based on static and fatigue loading as well as on fracture toughness basis is dealt with elaborately. Fabrication details of heavy welded structures like ships, pressure vessels, bridges, pipelines, and off-shore platforms are also covered comprehensively. Artificial Intelligence and expert systems in welding are briefly introduced to the reader. The book is extensively illustrated and contains a number of solved examples and case studies.
