Nightscenes 2009: The Monthly Night Sky for Great Britain and Ireland by Paul L. Money - a freelance, self taught amateur astronomer turned professional who has been viewing and imaging the night sky for over 30 years. He has been involved with a number of societies on both national and local level including the FAS, BAA, held various committee places including chairman of Boston Astronomers (UK) and honorary Vice Chair of several other groups. He is a Fellow of both the British Interplanetary Society and Royal Astronomical Society and have been awarded the FAS 'Eric Zucker' award for contributions to astronomy in 2002 and the Sir Arthur Clarke Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 for the public promotion of astronomy and space. For eight years he was one of three astronomers on the Omega Holidays Northern Lights Flights (2004 - 2013) and since 2006 the Reviews Editor for the BBC Sky at Night magazine working freelance from his home in Lincolnshire. He has been writing the annual book, Nightscenes, a guide to what to see in the night sky for the year since 2000 and has also written the Nightscenes Companion (out of print) and the Nightscenes Guide to Simple Astrophotography.
I'm a freelance Astronomer and recently retired as the Reviews Editor for the BBC Sky at Night magazine (2006 to 2024). Although born in Birmingham, spent almost all of my life in Lincolnshire where the skies are dark and the stars are bright. Married to Lorraine and together since 1992, married in 1998. Has written the annual 'Nightscenes' guide to what to look out for in the night sky from 2000 to 2021 after which it was discontinued. Give talks on various aspects of Astronomy and Space across the UK either in person or for long distance talks via zoom. Has now published the nine novels, 5 make up the 'James Hansone Ghost Mysteries' and the other four are Sci Fi/ Sci Fi apocalyptic novels.
