Diana Hamilton was born in a English town. Wanting to be a country child, her imagination came into play at an early age, transforming a neighbor’s tree into a forest, a hole in a stone wall into a gingerbread house, a gas puddle into a fairyland, complete with mountains, lakes and flower meadows. She loathed housework but made to do her share, to lessen the boredom, she told herself stories, in a very loud voice, featuring princesses and flower gardens, discovering that telling herself stories was almost as good as reading them in a book.
She loathed school with an equal passion and got through it by pretending to be somewhere else. Even so she left grammar school with respectable grades... And was sent to art college when she wanted to study to be a vet. This was nowhere as bad as it had seemed because it was there, at age 18, she first saw Peter. He had returned from two years’ active service in Korea to resume his studies, and Diana immediately fell in love with him.
Gaining a degree in advertising copywriting, Diana worked as a copywriter and married Peter. They moved to a remote part of Wales after the birth of their second child, Paul, when their daughter, Rebecca, was three years old. There, Diana enjoyed pony trekking and walking in the mountains; and her third child, Andrew, was born. Itchy feet brought them back to England to the beautiful county of Shropshire four years later and they have been there ever since, gradually restoring the rambling Elizabethan manor that Diana gave her heart to on sight, creating a garden out of a wilderness of nettles, brambles and old bedsteads.
In the mid-'70s Diana took up her pen again to write stories to read to her three children at bedtime. These were never offered for publication but the bug had bitten. Over the next 10 years she combined writing over 30 novels, published by Robert Hale of London, with bringing up her children, gardening and cooking for the restaurant of a local inn—a wonderful excuse to avoid the dreaded housework! In 1987 Diana realized her dearest ambition—the publication of her first Mills & Boon romance, Song in a Strange Land. She had come home. And that feeling persists to this day as, around 30 Harlequin/Mills & Boon romantic novels late, she was still in love with the genre.
Sadly, Diana Hamilton passed away on May 3, 2009, at her home in Shropshire, surrounded by her family. She will be sorely missed by her fans and everyone at Mills & Boon/Harlequin
Re Bought: One Husband - Diana Hamilton brings us a man-shy fashion model h who proposes a MOC to the fake-window-washer-living-with-his-grandma-but-really-a-billionaire H.
She wants to save her mum's childhood home, which was owned by a really icky snot snarfer kind of guy who happens to be her uncle, but she has to be married to inherit it.
(The snot snarfer and the h had an ongoing verbal battle and the h claimed she would never marry or depend upon a man for her happiness, so he made it a condition of his will that she marry to inherit the house.)
The H has been looking for an in with the h for the last year, so he says sure. (He is pretending to be the poor window washer friend of the billionaire tycoon and bamboozles the h into staying at what is really his luxury house.)
There is a ton of simmering repressed lurve force mojo and the h is feeling bad that she might be inadvertently acting like a snob, while the H is plotting ways to get the h into his lecherous, lustful clutches.
The H spends a lot of time verbally daring the h to lurve it up with him and tells her he wants a real marriage for life. The h eventually decides that the honest, kind and decent H is worth the risk and unicorns have to run for the hills as the purple passion explodes all over the place.
The h is as happy as a clam - until another woman shows up dining in luxury with the now Saville Row Suited H- (the h was at a lux London restaurant for a business lunch and spied them cozily nestled together across the room.)
OOPS! The OW is sporting a massive ring and it looks like she is married to the h's favorite window washer husband as she claims she now has the H's last name.
There is an icily raging h trying to do the catwalk at a fashion show and a HUGE mopey moment, then the H realizes that the h believes his little sister is his is real wife and that the h thinks the H has committed bigamy.
The h is freaking out as the H pretty much kidnaps her, but it is all okay again when she finds out the window washing is just a hobby - he is really a big business tycoon and he lied about his real last name, as he borrowed the last name of his assistant when he married the h.
(We get no comment on whether or not that makes the H and h's marriage invalid.)
Needless to say the fur and tears fly, but all is well for true lurve in the end and the H was reeallly sorry as he does a big 'I am sorry I am an idiot speech.'
This was mostly a nice little HP outing, DH generally managed to keep everybody on the correct side of believable and her characters in this one had a decent amount of common sense.
The H was kinda pushy in an HP Hero kind of way, but he was also smart enough to realize he really sunk his own boat by lying to the h and his little desperate pleas for forgiveness were amusing at the end.
I wasn't totally convinced in his sincerity for the majority of the story, tho we did get plenty of his POV, but his grovel was well done and an HP rarity, so it definitely wasn't a terrible day at the HP office.

I was very intrigued by the premise but it all went down halfway. I wasn’t impressed by the hero’s action and the mess he made in second half. I was irritated with the heroine for forgiving him so easily. I do believe in love at first sight, but here I’m not convinced about heroine’s love. She went from zero to sixty in a day! If all this wasn’t enough there was no epilogue to sweeten up. Weirdly enough I still liked the protagonists.
I thought this was boring and not believable. The characters' motivations weren't well explained, like why the heroine had made a very serious decision never to fall in love or get married or even date (there was technically an explanation -- basically, she'd seen her mom/aunt hurt by love -- but it just didn't seem to really explain such a drastic choice). And there just wasn't enough tension aside from the hero chasing/wooing the heroine -- he'd already decided he loved her, and so he decided to be really nice to her until she loved him back. Nice thing to happen in real life, pretty boring in a romance novel.
i liked it! it was light and even monotone bcoz der was no angst u see. jethro realised early on he loved alissa. he wooed her instead of forcing her into something she did not want. he was nice and loving instead of arrogant and ruthless like other HP heroes. so now i know dat drama adds spice and i do prefer melodramatic HPs! this one was too tame in comparison but still a good read! and i love a besotted hero when i see one!
Jethro Cole had loved Alissa Brannan at first sight -- but, wary of men, she'd proved extremely elusive... until the day she needed his help. Thinking he had no money, Alissa offered him a temporary marriage of convenience so she could comply with the conditions of her uncle's will.
Little did Alissa know that Jethro was a ruthless millionaire businessman, who was determined to have her in his life -- and in his bed -- forever..
a refreshing plot where the H was the one that has been in love with the h since a year ago. A love at the first sight kind of thing and the h was the cynical one. The H was so cute as well. Would love for an epilogue with baby/ies but it's an overall nice read

biarpun udah bisa mengira-ngira jalan ceritanya...tetep aja seneng kalo ada cerita tentang orang kaya yang pura-pura miskin demi mendapatkan cinta sejati...ihihihi :D
