Well, several months after Smukke Jan, the first of this series of Belling-Hvid mysteries, I said I would be willing to read another. And this one didn't disappoint. It was similar in style to the first book... no real violence happens (well, very briefly) in the narration. The plot is very carefully designed to move along a number of different but related threads, and there is a fair chance you will guess something about the murders. I can't say more without spoiling the fun. While there is nothing so compelling about the characters, the author really succeeds in making his characters all seem like more or less normal people, with very transparent personalities. In a relatively short novel, he manages to pack a lot of information. I guess I am a fan now, and one of these days, as i make it through my endless list of books to read, I'll read another by Kjædegaard. And as I have also mentioned before, I've got a "thing" for Danish mysteries and other stuff written in Danish.
