The years of caring for an alcoholic husband and a demanding mother are over. With her wayward son finally on the straight and narrow, Jo Farrell finds the peaceful existence that has always eluded her, but taking a long hard look at herself and her life Jo isn’t impressed with either. She longs to make changes but has no idea where to start, until she writes a list of all the things she had once planned to do before life got in the way.
Falling in love wasn’t even on the list but suddenly Jo is spoilt for choice. Her quiet life disappears almost overnight but, unfortunately, family problems have a habit of reappearing at the most inconvenient times.
A really lovely heart warming story about getting a second chance in life. For me it was also about the power of believing in yourself. I loved Pamela's writing style as well as her characters, some that I could picture quite vividly in my minds eye. A great read that I would recommend to readers of woman's fiction. Thank you to Endeavour Press and Netgalley for the copy
This is a lovely story which warms the soul. It tells the story of Jo - a 50 year old looking more like a pensioner - not bothered with her appearence, going out etc she is just existing in her little flat. One day she meets her neighbour Greg - equally a bit dowdy and not looking at his finest. Jo decides to write a bucket list and soon Greg decides to follow suit. Helping one another to complete their goals, they form an unlikely friendship . Greg is the perfect friend and i really want him in my life - a very likeable character. This story takes both characters on a journey to become new and improved - some bits are somewhat obvious but thats chick lit for you! really enjoyed it though!
I laughed, cried and giggled, this book is just so beautiful. A telling story of a divorced woman who was strong for her child and became a confident, beautiful woman in love. Reminds me of someone I know....
I love her stories so much I read the books straight through. The characters are like neighbors down the road and the situation are not so outlandish no one could imagine them. My only complaint is the abrupt endings...one more chapter, pease.
Really enjoyed this book a great second chance romance and a fantastic read. This book had great characters and a super storyline just loved it would recommend this book.
It’s time for a fresh start… Jo Farrell has spent her entire life putting other first. Home alone one Friday night with an empty weekend stretching before her, a chance encounter with her downstairs neighbour Greg, sparks an unlikely friendship. With the help of her new friend, Jo creates a list of ten things she wants to do to turn her life around."
A nice gentle read about a woman deciding to put herself first, make a list, try new experiences, have a makeover, travel outside of her comfort zone and embrace life for the first time.
It was well written and a lovely read with some great characters in the book. Only 4* because the ending was a bit predictable for me.
Jo proves you can change your life significantly, if you only put your mind it. But a new haircut and a makeover of the hallway can only do that much to boost your confidence. In the end you need to live up to the expectations that come with writing down your bucket-list. How more can she tick off?
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
