Lucia in Love

Strange Bedfellows...

If Lucia Lorenzo hadn't been so exhausted, she would have realized that the person already occupying the bed wasn't her cousin Dina but someone decidedly masculine: Ryan Dandridge, the man she had been trying - unsuccessfully - to forget.

Little did she realize when she woke up next to Ryan that her troubles were just beginning. For one thing, her entire wacky family was on hand, and nothing was ever easy when they were around. For another, someone seemed to be stalking her - with dangerous intentions. In fact, the more she thought about it, having Ryan re-enter her life might very well be the best thing that could have happened!

Underwhelming at best

I know it was unfair of me to try this author for the first time with this book (low ratings) but I had just come out of a great thriller and didn't want to taint it with a completely unknown author.

Still,

I'm glad I decided to read this book despite the low rating.
I mean, I couldn't pass a Heather Graham (H.G.) book, right?
True enough, her books never fail to give me all the angst - worthy feels.
And again and again, I love the fact that her main characters are all gorgeously tall and handsome and brooding and mysterious and beautiful and pretty and slim.
I understand that many people are frustrated with the reason the couple broke up, how each evaded each other's questions - simple questions, mind you - but hey, that's the core of the story huge misunderstanding which I loved.
I do not care for affairs - even though the author did not specify how long the couple were separated and whether they had been together with any other people in between.
But misunderstandings ... I live for those kinds of sorts.

Sigh ... Heather Graham is one of my dearest, dearest, favorite authors. Nobody could create angst like her. The chemistry between the main characters is undeniable. How does she do that?
Always.
Never fail.
It's truly an amazing talent.

Did not like it. I loathe books like this where a character ask a direct question and the other character refuses to answer (I understand miscommunication as a plot device but ones with refusal of answering direct question drive me crazy). Their problems could have been resolved with one conversation months before. Np.

Given the time when this book was originally published, it pretty much followed a format that was common during that time. I can understand others frustration with the characters, but found it a nostalgic read from a time when I was younger and enjoyed more of that type of conflict.

I like this author immensely, but this is not one of her great reads. Nothing like Crewe of the Hunters books. It was a light, fun read especially with the appearing and disappearing body. But it is dated but not a waste of time.

When I chose to read this "contemporary" I failed to realize that it was a rerelease of a book first published in 1988. It did not age well. 😬

Nope. Just no. I didn't like a thing about it. I found the characters to be exceedingly annoying and unbelievable.

Lucia Lorenzo lived together with Ryan Dandridge for a while, but due to miscommunication, she left him. This, Lucia thought, was left in the past, but when she drove to a condo complex to enjoy her large family’s reunion one night very late, little did she know that the bed she went in was also occupied by a man, who turned out to be none other than Ryan Dandridge.

Their rekindled romance, or rather sex life, went on despite her family’s hilarious antics and the loan shark who kept popping up and arguing with Lucia’s uncles and also with Ryan. When Lucia saw the loan shark dead on the beach, the mystery began. Then that dead body popped up here and there, only to be seen by Lucia.

Although the novel ended to satisfaction, the doubt and suspicion between the male and female lead added to their honesty and communication problems, and the love between them depending mainly on sex was irritating for me, as I expect a lot more from a romance. The mystery and the occasional comic relief, however, is quite enjoyable.

Pretty good. I liked the characters and the variety of personalities. There was a little suspense, emotions galore, some steaminess, head bashing moments, a dash of humor, good dialog, and a pretty interesting mix of everything. I wouldn't mind reading this again, but more for something to read, passing time, or relaxing. The ending was sweet, fun, and good. Great for a cuddle-up read. Keeps you interested but not on edge and was pretty much a fun read. Enjoy

Amazing how far this author has come since 1999, the year she originally wrote this book. Great concept but annoying characters. If she'd written this story today, instead of reissuing it, it would have been great.

I haven’t read a book from this Author and enjoyed this very much.

I also don’t usually read “suspense” romance stories but totally enjoyed this.

Sassy, independent and romantic between Lucia and Ryan.

A little disappointed, even for Heather Graham this one was extrordinarily predictable.
